Retired tax accountant, Elizabeth Edwards, is devastated when, upon her husband’s death, she learns of his infidelities. She is left to struggle with the cruel deception and the realization that her life, as she knew it, has been a lie. Broken and alone, Beth embarks on a journey to the English countryside, leaving everything she knew behind. It would be a trip that would change her life forever.
While in England, Beth's logical mind is tested when she dies and returns in the body of a beautiful young woman living her own hell 200 years in the past. Beth must find a way to cope with this impossible situation while facing new life-threatening dangers. She eventually finds a haven in Taylor Manor, the same country estate she had visited in the future.
Can Beth learn to live in these perilous times while resisting her attraction to a brooding Lord Samuel Taylor? Was this new beginning meant to save her, and perhaps others along the way?
An accountant by trade, DM Porters (Denise Mercedes – yes, her real name) started writing as a release from the drudgery of numbers and financial statements. She had always enjoyed historical romances and wanted to write her own, but life ushered her down a much different path. When others read her short stories and told her to take it further, she wondered and dreamt.
In time, the dream became a reality.
DM published her first novel, Here and Then After, in 2018, and her second, When Hearts Break, and third, Taken From Love, in 2019. There has been no stopping her since. She continues to learn and grow as an author.
She lives in Ontario, Canada, and is happily married her husband of 35 years. They have two wonderful, adult sons whom DM says, have been the inspiration for many of her stories.
Blessed in life, DM hopes to empower those she touches, showing that if you set your minds to it, you can accomplish anything.

I don't usually enjoy time travel books but this one is well written. The romance seems preordained and held my interest. Beth is an intelligent and resourceful woman who has lived before. Sam has suffered a tragedy that he has not recovered from. Beware at the beginning it does have a sexual assault before the Beth time travels. I look forward to book 2. Some of the themes are a bit modern for the time period but they were easy for me to overlook.
As I started reading this book I was surprised at how each of the characters were interesting in their own way. I couldn't put this book down til the end. I hope there's another one following this one. You will enjoy it.
I loved this book. I thought it was very well written, although it needs a little work on punctuation and proofreading. But the story was well thought out and beautiful.
So enjoyed being swept away in this romantic story of time travel and trying to defy the odds. A little bit Outlander, a little bit Poldark, I look forward to the next in the series.
Honestly, I did not make it all the way through this book. The storyline had potential, but the writing style was undeveloped for my taste and the overall cheesy tone got to be a bit much for me.
