When they were really young, the Hunter brothers lost both of their parents and sister in a car accident and were then raised by their grandparents. Now that they are all adults and have their own careers, they have nothing to do with each other. But that is all about to change with the death of their grandfather. Will they be able to put their differences aside to fulfill the terms of the will?

After reading and enjoying the Scottish Billionaire series I thought I'd give the Hunter Brothers a go.
I downloaded the Boxset on my Kindle and started reading.
It's certainly not what I was expecting. Now that I've finished two of the books, it's obvious that the first Chapter was setting up the running theme that will more than likely come to a head somewhere in the future... but because of that I think it took me a little longer than usual to get into it. Told by the Hunter's Grandfather, Manfred, the series starts with a life changing event that will affect the Hunter Brothers for the rest of their lives and each of the books will concentrate on each brother in turn.
The Alpha male in this first book is the eldest of four orphaned brothers, Jax. He's taken over the family's multibillion dollar empire. Powerful, successful, gorgeous... but money can't buy you everything now can it! Jax is now estranged from his three brothers Cai, Slade and Blake - only exchanging the odd card or phonecall. There's clearly no love lost between the siblings. When their parents and sister died, despite how much their grandparents tried to keep them together, they drifted further apart.
Jax is desperately searching for something but he doesn't know what. He seeks affection and love the only way he knows won't hurt him... No strings, no emotions... just sex. Whilst in New York he stumbles across a BDSM club with a difference "Club Prive". It's tasteful and not at all sleazy or seedy. It's what his hometown of Boston is missing... and who better to create what he's looking for? He's got the money... all he needs now is the property.
When he stumbles upon the perfect place in an rapidly developing district, he puts in an offer for the bar but is quickly shot down by the young bar owner. Little does he know that he's not the only one wanting to get their hands on this prime piece of real estate.
Syll is the owner of a small bar in the centre of Boston. She took it on when her Dad suddenly passed away. At only 24, she has put everything she has into the bar. She's given it her absolute all for her whole life... but it's not enough. The regulars are getting less regular and business is dwindling. Her loser of a boyfriend is no support to her both in business or in pleasure, but she just can't bring herself to shake him off... choosing instead to stick it out with a boring and mundane sex life that brings her no thrills or passion.
She's trying desperately to make ends meet... all she has is a faithful barmaid Gilly and a snarky, bitter waitress Arionna who was obviously just put on the earth to make her life even harder. With everything, including her live-in apartment is tied into the bar. She has to make this work. It was her fathers dream... his legacy. All she has left of him. So now with two offers to buy her bar from Jax and the sinister Mr Jones, she flatly turns them both away. No amount of money could make her sell... but intimidation might. Unfortunately saying no may have just endangered not only her bar, but her life.
After getting off on the wrong foot Jax returns to the bar to apologise to the young, beautiful and alluring bar owner only to find it completely trashed with Syll picking up the pieces and trying to restore order. There's an instant attraction between them but Syll believes his only motive is to get what he wants... her bar. Little does she know that he wants more than just her bar, he wants her too. Unfortunately, just as their attraction builds, Syll's loser boyfriend turns up and spoils their moment... but it's enough for Syll to start to question what, or rather who it is that she really wants?
You can already see where things are possibly heading but the journey there is full of twists and danger. As Syll's livelihood and life comes more under threat who will step up to save her? And who is behind the sinister goings on?
When Jax's grandfather passes away suddenly, a grieving Jax bumps into Syll as she is voluteering at the hospital. Their chance meeting leads to a passionate embrace - but her conscience won't allow her to take it any further and she breaks away from him. Confused and racked with guilt she visits her deadbeat boyfriend. However, when she arrives at his apartment to admit to him that she had kissed Jax she stumbles upon his cheating ass. After a verbal showdown she heads back to the place she really wants to be... in Jax's arms. Aaawwwww... how sweet! But life's never that simple... and when the threats increase and she is warned to stay away from Jax Hunter the danger she has placed herself in becomes all too real.
Dear old Grandad is having the last laugh though... in order to bring them back together he has thrown a clause into the brother's inheritance. They've got to push their differences aside and reconcile, or their inheritance will stay in trust. Understandably annoyed, the brother's part ways and return to their respective lives. Unlike his brother's, Jax has always stuck around and done what he believed was expected of him. He took over the family business, the house, the reputation and now, unless he can bring his brother's back together, he stands to lose it all. Can he be the bigger man and start to build those bridges? Time to wave that Olive branch and find something that can unite them... hhhmmmmm a BDSM club maybe?
Really good story... if not a little short - but I really enjoyed it. The characters are easy to like and Jax definitely gives you that warm and tingly feeling. I'm looking forward to hearing how their story develops through the other books in the series, as I am sure that this isn't the last we'll hear of Jax and Syll.
I'm not sure I'd so quickly jump into the whole BDSM thing quite as quick as Syll did, and she appears really rather accepting of it. I guess maybe feeling unfulfilled with a sexually inept douchebag for a boyfriend could make you crave a bit of kink?
If you're into this genre and you aren't at all bothered with a bit of mild dom/sub romping, then I'd say give this book a try. There's more going on than just sex and lust... and I'm hoping that the running storylines continued through rest of the series.
A good start... now I'm onto the next brother... Cai!

His Obsession is the first book in The Hunter Brothers series by M.S Parker. Jax and his three brothers were raised by their grandfather after a terrible accident sadly took their parents and sister. Syll was raised by her father, as she grew up in the bar that he owned. After he died suddenly and too soon, Syll took over her father’s family bar. It was his legacy that he left her and she prays she can keep it going. Jax wants this bar but so does some other people and those people are very nasty, unlike Jax. There is chemistry that is very evident between Syll and Jax. If you have read the Club Prive series, you might see and feel some familiar things. The Hunter brothers are all Doms in their own ways and watching Jax do his DOM thing on Syll…oohhh was just so good. There was action, intrigue, drama, angst, and most definitely passion. I look forward to reading about the other Hunter brothers and their lady loves.

Good, but With Some Issues
I'm a fan of M.S. Parker's work, and overall, the book was enjoyable. The plot was good, and the characters came to life quite nicely.
What I had a problem with was, first and foremost, the pacing. The book was rushed and would've been much better if M.S. Parker had taken the time to get us more comfortable with the characters and had a proper timeline for Syll and Jax's relationship. It was beyond rushed. The whole book was. But their relationship in particular felt like it was slapped together and shoved down my throat.
I mean, Jax knew Syll a matter of weeks, several of which they spent apart with zero contact. Their "relationship" up to that point consisted of having sex twice (once while inebriated) and having maybe half an hour's worth of conversation. Most of which was arguing. And from THAT we're supposed to believe Jax fell in love? No. Just no. This is where another hundred pages or so and some meaningful interaction would have really benefitted the book.
Regardless, I'll move on to the next book in the series and see if things improve because I know what M.S. Parker is capable of.

These two characters have come acquainted with the feeling of loss and have it in common, which allows them to connect in a level they haven't felt before. The encounters between Syll and Jax are HOT and full of tension. She is a spitfire and needs someone at her level, deserves a man not a man child. Before meeting Jax she had been settling for a mediocre boyfriend that did not put her first. But it feels good to finally find someone like Jax that even knowing she can handle anything, doesn't allow her to do it on her own. He is more than willing to take action and show her the ropes around his likes which in turn makes for some interesting scenes, considering she makes him feel like he can be himself and enjoy the trust and comfort that comes with spending time with her. You will enjoy the little bit of mystery, heroic gestures and attitudes mixed in this book.

I voluntarily received an ARC. Jax Hunter and his 3 brothers are still going to let us catch our breaths in this series... Jax went to Syll's bar to buy the property but once he laid eyes on her he decided he rather wants her. She was being blackmailed by somebody else to sell but she won't budge. First somebody breaks her window and some glasses in the bar and then they set fire to the place while she is in the bar. She was knocked out and would have died if Jax didn't arrive. Her boyfriend Billy whom she found out just before the fire, was having an affair with one of her waitresses, came running out of the bar just as Jax arrived. Why didn't he safe her. He was the one that knocked her out, but was he involved? Strong story, strong characters. Loved the story!!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. I’ve been so excited for this series since I heard it was coming. It’s going to be pretty interesting to learn more about the Hunter brothers. This is the first book in the series and it’s off to an amazing start. This is Jax and Syll’s story. These two have more in common than they know. They’ve both lost people important to them at a young age. When these two meet, they are explosive, Jax wants to buy Syll’s family bar and his attraction to her is immediate and now he wants her as well. Syll is in a relationship, but how long will that last with Jax sniffing around? I was sucked in from the beginning and couldn’t put this book down and neither will you. I can’t wait for what’s coming next.

This story is amazing. I absolutely love M.S. Parker and boy was this a great one. The story is extremely well developed and characters have these amazing personalities. I just couldn't put down until I reached the end of the story. I loved Jax and Syll together. Jax is this all out alpha male with a protective side that makes any woman swoon. Syll is this strong and feisty woman who doesn't have this personality that makes you instantly think she is a "witch" There is some drama, a little mystery, suspense, and of course some hot romance. This is definitely worth reading and it will not disappoint. I can not wait for the second book in the series to come out.

This author has an imagination that knows no boundaries. Each new book series is fresh and inviting and definitely hard to put down. This series is about 4 brothers who lost their parents and a sibling in a tragic car crash when they were young. Their Grandfather took them in and raised them; all chose different professions and individual ways of living their lives.
This series highlights each brother in a book; their love interests and their relationships to each other.
Wonderful endearing characters and each story is unique and has depth and emotion.

His Obsession was a great read. Jax Hunter, CEO of Hunter Enterprises, finds himself at a crossroads. Hunter Enterprises is in the business of buying businesses breaking them up and selling off the pieces. In a trip to New York he stumbles into Club Prive' and falls in love with the idea of opening up a club in Boston. He comes across the perfect property but has to convince to owner to sell.
Syll is 24 years old and inherited the bar from her father who died a couple of years ago. Business has been going down hill and she isn't sure what to do. Suddenly out of the blue she has two offers to sell. One from a creepy lawyer and the other from the very handsome Jax Hunter.
This is a romantic suspense story and of course very sexy!!

Syll is a owns a bar left to her by her late father. Jax is a businessman who takes over a company after his grandfather passes. Jax is interesting in buying Syll’s bar and convert to a bdsm club after stumbling across Club Prive. Syll isn’t interesting in selling regardless of the numerous offers by several people. While someone is out to scare Syll into selling by threatening her, Jax seems to be the one to rescue her.
While I enjoyed this book, I felt there were missing pieces to Jax’s background. This is a stand-alone in a four part series, but is recommended to read them in order. No cliffy but can’t wait for book 2.

WOW!!! A great book and fantastic read. I found this book sexy and exciting. The story and the character’s were well written with great detail. This story was full of many emotional situations and exciting experience’s that I would love to have had as my own and after reading the book I feel as if I did. There were several surprises thrown in this book that gave it twists that really surprised me! I never knew what was going to happen next. I love it when a book does that to me. This book is addicting and you will not be able to put it down. It is a must read.

Syll lost her father. Her bar is in financial mess. Was being forced to sell, beaten and the bar was set on fire. Jax wanted to buy the bar to open a BDSM club, but wasn't the person trying to force her to sell. He decided not buy the bar, but provide the seed money to have the bar expanded. She said no. When he called her to apologize for his bad timing for being up the expansion that's when she told him someone was in the bar. He go to her in time because she was knocked out and the bar was set on fire.
After the fire, the book was rushed. Example: fire, I love, sex then a proposal all within 2-3 weeks of meeting.

Started this not realizing it was narrated by AI. It was awful! Starts of each chapter was cut off. There was no difference in the male and female characters which was confusing. It was like a robot was reading the book. Emphasis was placed on the wrong words at times. Sentences were run together. So much was wrong with this!!
Authors are making a serious mistake by allowing this, at least in my opinion. If they are too cheap to hire decent narrators, they should stick with print. AI is not developed enough for this kind of work.
I had the entire series in an Audible format but because of the Virtual Voice narrative, it is impossible to listen to this collection.

This book was so great, the pages were filled with emotion, suspense and a whole lot of passion.
What I loved most about this book was that we got to see Gavin from the Club Prive series (this was MS Parkers very first book, and the one that made me fall in love with her writing), but we also get to meet Jax and Syll. Their story will give you everything that you would expect from this author and so much more.
Jax and Syll are polar opposites and could not be more suited to be together. Their relationship starts with Jax wanting to buy the bar that Syll inherited when her father died and works every day to make it a profitable bar. These two come together when they can no longer fight their attraction.
This is a must read that ends in a cliff hanger and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

A Good Read
A really good book I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed “His Obsession” it’s the first book in the (“Hunter Brothers Series”) and a return to “Club Prive” M. S. Parker has written a really enjoyable book with a well written, engaging storyline and lovely characters, Jax & Syll have great chemistry and interaction that pull you into their story. It’s a real page turner. This is an Entertaining, Hot, Must Read Romance that I would recommend to anyone. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. Looking forward to reading more from M. S. Parker

This was a really fun and easy quick read. Yes it was predictable but it was exciting to follow nonetheless. I found myself really drawn to the characters and really in favour of their romance which isn't easy to do in a short novel.
I also really loved the obvious underlying mystery behind the book that will obviously travel throughout the series.
It's also rare that I want to continue a series with different leading characters in the second book but with this one I am intrigued and want to finish it.

I enjoyed this book and the story promises a great series. Syll is a wonderful character and who could resist Jax. Even though I knew Billy would get his comeuppance I was a little disappointed that the whole storyline about buying the bar didn't t have more depth. However, the sex was hot and the underlying mystery promises an intriguing theme for all four brothers. I look forward to the next brother's book.

Wow! Jam packed with emotion, humor, romance and mystery, His Obsession had me at the prologue. Jax and Syll are such an unlikely pair, yet with the right circumstances, their chemistry and personalities meshed perfectly.
M. S. Parker created the perfect storm of characters and gave the reader a book filled with descriptive writing and an opportunity to see into the life of the Hunter family.

From the start of chapter 1, I was pulled into His Obsession!!! Jax, attractive, rich, and confident, is super sexy and used to buying whatever and whoever he wanted. Syll, stubborn, headstrong, and persistent, is used to working her way to what she needs, not wants, but what she needs to survive. The combination of the 2 is what makes for a sexy and exciting story!!! I enjoyed His Obsession and look forward to the rest of the series!!!

If you've read club privé before I recommend you read this new spin-off and stand-alone. I loved it, but then again who can't love something your already familiar with, but with an all new story and new character's.

Syll and Jax are both very strong individuals who are used to getting what they want. Syll by working hard for it and Jax by being able to buy it. When Jax figures out he can't buy Syll, he's not sure how to continue, but knows he must. She pulls him in from the very beginning and he doesn't want to get away.

OMG LOVED Jax and Syll, both are amazing characters! I was so excited to see a return to Club Prive! The original series was so awesome! I'm looking forward to each Hunter Brother getting their own story! So far, it has started off as I would expect from M.S. Parker!!
