The light at the end of the tunnel is not an illusion. The tunnel is.
I never expected someone I knew wanted me dead. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. Jealousy has been motivating people to do horrible things for all of history, and when you’ve made as much money as I have, it’s hard not to be the target of the green-eyed monster.
I also didn’t expect my beautiful bodyguard Sam to throw herself in front of a bullet for me. No one has ever risked their life like that me before, especially a woman I’m falling for.
Is it totally messed up I’m almost glad the man who tried to kill me escaped? Yeah, I feel that way because it means I can spend more time with Sam.
Now we’re both distracted, and there’s still someone out there who wants me dead. But I care more about convincing Sam that we have something real together. Something that goes deeper than just steaming up my bedroom.
I don’t think she believes me. Sam thinks our relationship is nothing more than an illusion.
Billionaire in Disguise Series Facade Illusion Charade
This is quite a rollercoaster between steamy lust and attraction, and suspense and tension. After Sam jumps in front of the bullet meant for Derek, things get more muddled. She starts to pull back, to be professional, and he buries himself in work, until they both realize they need to get away from the stress. So a sexy, private island trip to Hawaii is thrown into the mix, where emotions get pulled even deeper. It’s a little confusing at times, with him continuing to tell her he wants to make them work, and she seems to agree to try, and the next thing they’re commenting to others that they’re not a couple, not together. But if I’m following correctly, it’s more they’re just moving slowly in the relationship front because of the continued threat on Derek. But the sparks continue to fly, more crazy stuff happens to put both of them in danger, and in the end, they endure. We get another cliffhanger ending, shifting the story a bit from where the first 2 books went, but it looks like there is one more big challenge for them to face to test their relationship.
Illusion Billionaire in Disguise Series, Book 2 By: Lexy Timms Narrated by: Tanner De Bruyne
Romantic suspense continues with this second installment of the Billionaire Disguise series. Sam is hurt, but as the confident woman she is, she is determined to keep Derek safe. The eminent threat is still in effect and becoming more dangerous. And there relationship is heating up! It's passionate and exciting. Lexy Timms keeps us in suspense, never giving away who is after him. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing the entire time. And then, just when you think things are wrapping up, we are left with a cliffhanger, opening it all up and making us want more!!
Tanner De Bruyne gives a thrilling performance. He is versatile, able to switch voices easily from male and female. There are also a lot of male characters and he gives each one a distinguishable style. I enjoy his narrations and watch for his releases.
This is the second book in the Billionaire in Disguise Trilogy, a Romantic Suspense. Derek and Sam’s story continues where the first book left off. I like their slow burn romance, and how their relationship evolves. They share a sizzling chemistry. The storyline is filled with action, twists and turns, and romance. The story ends with an unpredictable cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to listen to Charade, the conclusion of this suspenseful trilogy. Tanner De Bruyne did an amazing job with the narration.
