I am catching up on my reviews on the blog for the year! Check me out... three in one week. Hey! This time I have a BWWM Western for you. That's right a real honest to goodness interracial Western out on the plains, honey! It's called Ridden Hard by Kendra Queen. You already know I loved the title... there's just something about being ridden hard and put away wet.

I was truly entertained by this book. The dynamic between Cal and Ada was wonderful. I liked how they went back and forth with each other. I also liked Ada's smart mouth and determination. She was a tough lady and smart as the dickens. She also knew when to shut that smart mouth. There were a couple of times Cal gave her a look and she shut up quick. I found that hilarious. He had her number and it was cute.
This was a good read, but I wanted more. I hope there is a book 2.
kIf you ever wanted a book to be the culmination of all your hottest cowboy fantasies, then look no further!!! Kendra Queen has done it again and I enjoyed every last page. Ada endures the wildest west to make her way out to California. But the dangers of crossing the wide open prairie are present, when horse thieves, stolen gold, and the handsomest of cowboys is thrown into the mix. Cal Sampson saves Ada from wondering the plaines alone after suffering an attack by comancheros that seperated her from her friend and employer. And things begin to heat up on those long and cold nights as Cal protects her from his own band of rugged cowboys and a whole host of things. It is a must read!!!!!!
This was a quick read that I found on Kindle Unlimited. Cal and Ada were great characters and their journey to love was not easy but believable. I will say that I wished there was more background for the characters especially Cal and his brother Sam. The bad blood between the two was not really explained.
4.5 stars. Finally got to this one and I really enjoyed it. Kendra Queen writes beautiful and I really dig her historical romances. Ridden Hard was no exception. Her heroines are strong, fiesty and alluring. Ada has got all of those attributes and her relationship with Cal is really sweet and steamy. I mean, I try to put myself in her shoes in the situation she was in and I am not sure I'd have the balls to survive that hell. Set in the 1840s, slavery was still legal in many states, although Ada was born a free Black woman. Doesn't matter much, depending on where you go and she's traveling through the Midwest where it is heads or tails if you're a runaway slave or not. She had this, if I'm gonna go down, I'm not going without a fight attitude and it served her pretty well throughout the story. Cal was awesome! Masculine, cowboy, rugid, yes, please. I loved their story and I'm looking forward to reading Ridden Harder. This title is about to take me out, btw lol
Definately worth more than 5*'s. A beautiful and evocative novel about hope, love and forgiveness, kept me entertained throughout. I actually felt like I was part of the 'Old West. Well developed and detailed, I really admire this author 's realistic writing style. This is by far the best BWWM Cowboy novel I have read, I was not expecting that !!!
A breathtaking adventure, superbly written, a great balance of humour, romance and hotness. A real page turner.
Ada.... what an amazing character, strong, clever, funny and could not keep her mouth shut _ I loved her. The chemestry between her and Cal was powerful. A great cast of other characters too.
I have absolutely no hesitation what so ever in reccomending this novel. A MUST read. Thank you KQ 😁
4.5 stars Such a good read. I tend to stray away from historical or past time setting reads but one read of the sample and I had to get the book. Definitely worth the money. I’m wondering how cal and ada are doing now. I think the biggest part for me reading this was that the book had feels and did not revolve around sex although those scenes were amazing. I felt the love between ada and cal on a deep comforting level I wish there was more but books have to end somewhere right.
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Cal is the head of a cattle drive and Ada is a freewoman in the age of the Old West. They meet after Ada’s bosses are ambushed and they are all separated. Cal finds Ada wandering the desert after warning her small party of the possibility of being ambushed. I liked the way the two overcame the problems of their times and that Ada was lucky enough to have a potential HEA without too many upheavals in her life due to the prejudices of the times.
I really enjoyed this book, I like reading a good historical on occasions and this didn't disappoint. Even though Cal is white he grew up with Indians and didn't have a prejudice bone in his body unlike the other cowboys.
When Ada had to join him and his crew he was instantly over protective of her. There was an attraction there which eventually developed into love.
This was different in a good way. No nice and easy road to love for Cal and Ida. They were good together. I liked the truth of the times and how people treated colored people and any wrong doer. It was a crazy fun read. No real errors grammatically or otherwise, just a good story with lots of parts.
I really enjoyed the history of relationships with interracial couples in a different time things are different yet the feelings of some are still the same yet love never changes great read!!
I love reading books based on the wild west. This was very entertaining. The author did a great job at keeping everything authentic. The story was very good. I read this based off a recommendation and truly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the book and I love the characters, especially Cal. I love the way he treats Ada. Compare to the other men in the story, he was the only one that treats her like a human being, an equal and didn't look down on her because of her color. He's a real man.
I believe I got this book as a freebie. Was a pretty good read. Definitely not what I was expecting. I was even pleased they added a little epilogue that wasn’t included in the book. I would read another book by this author.
This story was written so beautifully that I really fell in love with cal and ada. I would definitely be recommending this book and I advise everyone to read it
The shootouts had me riveted and so did the right squeezes and scrapes. There were some errors but maybe like 2 or so and they didn't put me off. I enjoyed this. Good job.
Totally awesome cowboy romance! They found each other amidst struggles. I love the way Cal protected Ada from everything. He was falling for her in the midst of all the craziness going on. Beautiful love story.
This historical romance is full of twits and turns. I love how we find out more about the heroine and hero past as the story progresses. It shows how both of them are meant to be with each other.
