Marjorie Holmes (1910—2002) was an American columnist and best-selling Christian author of 134 books, 32 of which were best sellers. Holmes is known best for her biblical trilogy which began with the novel Two From Galilee, a love story about Mary and Joseph, published by Fleming H. Revell.
This book was rough. It's an elegantly written how to book, but heavily based on the personal experience of the author and not always on any cold, hard, facts.
Additionally, the articles the author is talking about writing would be considered op-editorials at most newspapers. She's most specifically talking about life experience articles and anecdotal article. I was hoping for more on writing news articles.
This is. The worst. Book on writing. I've ever read! The writer lets her personal opinions dominate most of the book, uses her own writing as examples, and makes us painfully aware that she's a christian mother.
This book is dated, but there are still some good tips in here. That said, if you have any other books on writing that are more recent, you can skip this one.
