Cloning Elvis

Rate this book
It's the Greatest Comeback Story ever told!Music producer Cameron Ogilvie has hatched his biggest money making scheme ever — he’s going to clone Elvis Presley.

Obtaining a hair follicle of the late King of Rock and Roll, Ogilvie enlists the assistance of ground-breaking geneticist Dr. Victoria Hadley to turn his plan into reality.

But there’s a snag. And it’s a big one. Literally.

The hair Ogilvie bought came from Elvis only two months before the singer’s untimely death in 1977.

Instead of having a clone of the slender, leg shaking, pelvis gyrating, rock and roll rebel of the mid-1950’s, Ogilvie has a clone who’s grossly obese, addicted to prescription drugs, and on the verge of a massive heart attack.

Can Ogilvie and Dr. Hadley convince Elvis to make the major lifestyle changes needed to stay alive?

If so, will Elvis be able to avoid the self-destructive pit falls of fame and fortune this time around?

And does the world of the early 21st century have a place for Elvis Presley 40 years after his demise?

Find out by buying Cloning Elvis now.

I Really enjoyed reading this book as it is different than most I have read lately. It was kind of sad as the cloned Elvis made some of the same mistakes as the original Elvis. But I really liked the ending it was the best

I really loved it! It was scientifically interesting. The author seemed to get the Elvis persona down pat. Well, at least the Elvis we hoped would have said persona. I was only sorry he and his daughter and grandchildren never reconnected. All in all, it was a really fun fantasy!

Cloning Elvis really has a lot of ingenuity going for it. I don't often read books by indie authors, but Brian David Floyd came up with a humdinger of a story and really delivered. With cloning such a prevalent theory in our modern society nowadays, it only makes sense to think that one day there will be discussions about human clones, and clone rights, etc. Making Elvis the first human clone was absolutely brilliant.

Elvis himself is likable and kind, just as I've always imagined him to be. And while it was surreal reading about Elvis being alive, a huge part of my heart wished it were true. I've been an Elvis fan for the last 13 years, even visited Graceland a couple of years ago, and Elvis truly is timeless. So to imagine him coming back just sort of tugs at the heartstrings.

And of course, you have to have the evil individual who funded cloning him, who wants to use Elvis for his own personal gain. It takes a lot to make Colonel Parker look like a nice guy, but Cameron managed it. I like Victoria quite a bit, although I do sort of wish that Elvis had reminisced more over Priscilla instead of falling in love with Victoria so quickly. Oh well!

Truly, Cloning Elvis is an entertaining read full of ingenuity and plot twists. I didn't see any of the plot twists coming at the end so that was a refreshing change for me. In fact, I enjoyed the book so much that I purchased another book by Brian David Floyd, The Class of '87. I'm a huge 80s nerd, probably because I was born in the era and always wished I'd been a teenager so I could have experienced it. No such luck.

Anyway, kudos to the author for a fun read. I'm so glad my friend recommended it.

When I read the blurb for this book, I was prepared for it to be lots of laughs. Unexpectedly I found the book fascinating and mostly serious, and totally captivating!
Why has there always been an aura of mystery around Elvis' death? Practically since the day he died the rumors started that he was still alive. Now I feel like the author has shown how scientific advances could make those rumors reality.
What I liked best about this thought provoking book was from the very beginning every detail was crucial to the story. Seemingly insignificant details (like tipping the help or a conversation with a pregnant woman) that are done in passing are essential to the story.
I remember the day Elvis "died" and was surprised as a mother of a friend went to pieces and had to close her dress shop! Now I wonder if he just beat the system and found a way out like clone Elvis???
I thought the book was terrific! I also liked the author's surprise at the end! Fun to read and get swept up in what some might say is unrealistic fiction. But honestly, is it?

I saw this book's cover and just had to read it. The storyline was good, but I had a hard time getting into the characters. This may have just been because of the place I was in while reading, and shouldn't make you feel like not giving it a try. There are twists and unexpected turns, and I love the idea of cloning The King of Rock and Roll.

The title says it all

Even though this isn't a true story, with the advancements made in science, many believe that cloning a human isn't too far off. The book title tells exactly what this well written book is all about. If you were an Elvis fan, the first time around, you will want to read about his life, the second time around.

This was a fun read for me. The biggest plot hole was that the cloned Elvis who had slimmed down, was replaced seamlessly by his not slimmed down tribute artist.

As for the short story of how the original Elvis faked his death, perhaps it was written before the information that Lisa Marie sat for several nights with her father's body? But that is another plot hole. Still I wish it were true that Elvis were not dead.

I am adding this to my favorites of all time! I usually lean towards darker fare but especially in the current state of the world and having always loved Elvis, this read was a welcomed break! Only disappointed that I finished it so quickly but, alas, there is a short story prequel! 👍🏻😉

This book was a very nice surprise. Up until two days ago, I was unfamiliar with both the book and the author, Brian David Floyd. My wife found the book online and thought it would be something I might enjoy, so she bought me a copy of it as a gift.

Well, she proved once again that she knows me PERFECTLY well because I loved this book! As soon as I started reading it, I was hooked.

A plot about cloning Elvis Presley could have easily ended up as an unbelievably ridiculous book in the hands of the wrong writer, but author Brian David Floyd proves here that he was absolutely the right person for the job.

This book is very well-written and incredibly compelling. Some people might see the plot of this and think it's some sort of silly comedy, but it's definitely not. While there are some funny parts in it, this is far more of a serious story. It's actually very moving in parts.

If you're a fan of Elvis, I think you'd definitely enjoy this book. However, I don't think being an Elvis fan is a requirement to enjoy this one. If you're a reader who enjoys unique and cleverly told stories, you should definitely consider checking this one out. Personally, it's one of my favorite books that I've read this year.
