Barbarians of the Dying Sun #1

Barbarians of the Dying Sun

Rate this book
I was abducted. Taken. Claimed.

He’s a teal-skinned alien who thought he was rescuing me–of all things–but on his brutal and unforgiving world, rescuing me means he owns me. To make things worse, his claim on me is the only thing keeping me alive.

No one is stronger or fiercer than my new alien owner. He wears nothing but a loincloth, which barely covers his muscular body. His weapon of choice is a “skullspear,” which he uses to poke through the skulls of any male he tries to touch me. I don’t know exactly what he’s packing underneath that loincloth, but he’s not at all shy about letting me know what he’d like to do to me with it.

As frustrating and overbearing as he can be, I need his protection. The sun is dying, and the whole world with it. To survive, plants and animals have all evolved to become as deadly as possible. Even the women have come to be just as strong–and masculine–as the men, which means that my soft curves and full chest make me pretty much the most attractive thing on this whole damn planet.

As strong as he is, I have no idea how we are going to survive when the whole world is out to get me. The only thing I know is that he’s going to protect me with a fierce intensity which burns brighter than the dying sun.

Barbarians of the Dying Sun is book 1 in a multi-book series. Each book is a complete story with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and plenty of steamy alien romance.

Proximus is both a savior and a captor Alice. He offers her rescue from one group but has plans of his own that don't include returning her to the life she was stolen from.

It is an interesting story and you are not sure what to make of him. He is honest but his choices are all about his ideas about honor and what is right and not about what is best for her. They definitively have a complicated relationship as they grow closer. She is not sure what to make of him but has to decide who to trust in terms of her safety. There are some good surprises along the way.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Alice and Proximus. While on her way to a girls weekend Alice is kidnapped. She isn't sure where exactly she is but she knows this isn't the cabin she was heading for. She is hoping that the one alien on the ship that seems to show any type of kindness will be the one to save her and her friends. She doesn't know what will happen next but she hopes it won't end badly. Can she find a HEA or will she be forces into a life of slavery?

This is a great book that will hook you from the first word to the very end. There are ups and downs in this book that I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for any other reader. I will say that I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone

A human female gets kidnapped twice, watches a male alien perform a gladiator combat to the death in an arena, the couple has sex and then they live happily ever after. Seriously.

The only thing missing in this book was an actual story.

There's no build up of understanding between the two, the world building is lacking, and none of the details that are given are consistent. In the beginning the male is described as having four arms and four legs. Is he a horse or centaur like creature? At no point anywhere else in the story are his extra arms or legs mentioned again and in the cover art only one set of arms are shown.

This book was an alien crash wreck from start to finish. And it ends approximately 65% of the way through, the remaining 35% author ego.

Not only would I not recommend this book to others, I would not be interested in reading anything else from this author.

It always bites when I end up giving a book by an author I loved a not good review, but as I’ve stated this is for my own reminder and not a dig at the author. We are human and can’t please all of the people all of the time.
Sadly I did not feel the same sense of fun and adventure in this story as I have in others.
And the one thing I can not and will never enjoy in a story is when the h is kidnapped, by other aliens then rescued but still held captive and refused her freedom by the H and she still simply can’t help having sex with him, and to be blunt it felt too much like he pushed her into it despite what she wanted.
I’m hoping the next one will be back to previous standards.

Interesting and entertaining read. Who knew wanting to take a girls trips to a cabin in the the woods would result in a aliens abduction and a adventure of a lifetime. That is what exactly happen to Alice and her friends. The adventure Alice go through are heart stopping. Since I'm not one to give spoilers you'll have to check it out for yourself. Overall enjoyable read looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Not a bad alien abduction science fiction romance. The aliens were not described as well as I wanted as I could not visualize a four armed, four legged humanoid. I can see the arms but the legs puzzle me for how they could look humanoid.

I liked Alice and empathized with her in her confusion of what to do in this new world. I wasn't as fond of Proximus but as we learned more about his biology, he became more likeable. I am curious as to their future and hope we see it.

I enjoyed the actual storyline, though, and look forward to the next book.

Proximus knew what kind of life Alice would have as a slave and decides to help her escape. They go to his world where his sun is dying and he informs her that he plans on selling her as well to payoff his clans debt. They are eventually captured by the Emperors men but learn some shocking news. Will Alice still be sold? This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama. The characters are fun with steamy chemistry. An entertaining read.

Waking up on an alien spaceship was probably the best part of her day. Because things are only going to get worse. Now an alien planet where barbarians rule. But her rescuer/kidnapper has plans for her. Now he must resist the pull to mate to her.

The story definitely takes a few twists and turns I didn’t expect. It has action and some pretty hot scenes. Recommend for any sci-fi romance readers.

Interesting read. I’ve read a lot of alien abduction books, and this one fits in nicely. The storyline was intriguing and entertaining, with some colourful descriptions. I liked the characters, Proximus and Alice. However I do think there was some room for improvement with the details. A copy was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book with my honest opinion.

Interesting World

Proximus is quite the barbarian alien. Alice is kidnapped, twice! I found this new world to be quite interesting and wonder if there could actually be one similar out there in the universe. This is my first book by Aya Morningstar but I was quite impressed with it. The rich and different culture was very fun to learn about. I can't wait until book two comes out.

Excellent world building

The ending was a big sudden and strange, but then again the entire planet is strange. Proximus is a part of a team that kidnaps Alice and her friends from earth. Pheromones hit him hard and he kidnaps her. The only problem is sides he keep her for himself or should he sell her to save his tribe. The HEA is dramatic and quick, but the romance is slow simmer building to a rolling boil!

A alien romance kidnapping with a surprising hero.

Kidnapped from earth and brought to a world full of danger, Alice must learn to trust her teal alien. Proximus had found a treasure dying for, running through the wilds of his world with guards on their trail and surrounded by both dangerous animals and plants waiting to kill them, they just might die. A tale of love on the run and a alien strong enough to keep them alive.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

This book was okay. I didn't feel like I could connect well to the characters however. I think there needed to be more background information on the humans and why they were taken. I also would have liked to have known more about the aliens and their planet. This is the first book in the series so hopefully we'll get to learn more about all this in the next book.

This book will keep you guessing. Alice is definitely taken for an adventure by her alien barbarian, Proximus. The story has some really great twists. I love how the translator gets some of the words wrong, it makes for some laughs. I recommend this book. It is a great start to the series. I freely reviewed this ARC.

Great new series

This is the first book I've read by At a Morningstar, and I will be on the lookout for more. I found the world-building of the world of the dying sun to be fascinating and intriguing. I can't wait for more from this world. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

Aya Morningstar is back at it with her new series and thank God. I've missed reading about her hunky aliens falling for human girls. I especially like it when the heroine rescues the alpha male. I do love a strong woman! And the chemistry these two have with each other is out of this world (pun intended). This book is a great start to a new series and I can't wait for the next release.

A big thank you for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I rate this book as a 3.5. It was fun, fast and interesting. I didn't understand the lack of technology, yet acceptance of some high technology (space ships) and the exploration of other worlds. Fun though and worth a read.

Dying for a taste

The big teal alien steals her from the pod that her friends and her have been locked into on the alien craft. Afraid of her alien who claims to save her but then declared to sell her for money to save her life.

2 1/2 Star rating. This is an okay book. I can't help compare this book to Ruby Dixon's books (since I have read every one) It comes up way short. It had a few good moments, but overall it's lacking. Just an okay read.

Baby Makes Three

Proximus steals Alice from the transport. He couldn't let her become a slave. They ran all over to stay together. This is a beautiful story of circumstances that ends into a happily ever after. And part of a three book series. A good book for your momey.

Not bad

The story starts out good. The sex scenes were hot. How it ends leaves a lot of questions. Like what's with this bonding thing? Why were they stealing human women? How could the emperor be immune? Just a lot of unanswered questions .
