Jack Grenard and the demon Anya are on the run, searching for a cure for her curse while staying one step ahead of those who want them dead. The mystery leads them around the globe, each clue revealing more about the history of the original demons and the secrets behind the humans who fought them.

Hot on their trail is Jack's partner Cam Macarro, who just wants her best friend back. Unable to keep up with Anya, who can shift time, Cam dives head first into ICDM history, hoping to unravel the mystery before they do. But the more she discovers, the more she begins to see the truth behind ICDM and who's really in charge.

Revival is the second book in the Demon Spring Trilogy, which readers say is "perfect blend between urban fantasy and real life struggles" and "electric from start to finish."

Man this series just keeps hitting you while your down. THAT ENDING THOUGH! This would be a great trilogy to just binge over a rainy weekend I think. I'm 100% invested in these characters and I'm really hoping for a happy ending.

First of all, Jack is precious and must be protected at all times. I love how he's not the typical emotionless male character and his struggles only make me love him more. I think it's nice that Jack is trying to get Anya to show her emotions a little more instead of the other way around. It's a nice change honestly. And Cam. My precious Cam. I love her to death. Also can I just say how AMAZING it is to have a completely platonic female/male relationship in a book?? It makes me realize just how much we don't get to see that. I'm looking forward to seeing her get the happy ending she deserves.

As for plot, I loved that we got to travel around the world a little. It was fun being on that kind of adventure with Jack and Anya! I was also really interested in this curse that they were trying to solve and especially love how it turned out. My favourite part of this book is all the references to the mental sides of these characters instead of being all physical. There's no way that after all these characters have been through that their minds are completely perfect and the author knows that. It's easily one of the most realistic urban fantasy books I've read!

**Mild Spoilers**

Whoa!!! This book was better than the first!!! (The first book was a five star read itself!) This continuation was Ah – mazing!! I’m already in love with this trilogy! It was nice to learn all the secrets revealed within the story. I feel so bad every time I remember that the story will be over with one more book.
The character development was outstanding. Each and every character had been evolved by the end of the book.
Talking about the characters….
Jack Grenard’s character development was beautiful. Him turning into the old person he was and overcoming his sorrows. It was beautiful to read him as a person. I loved his ways of approaching.
Cam on the other hand, realizing that she is incomplete without her partner. I actually expected that Jack and Cam will end up together in this book. (Ah! Let’s wait and watch. There’s more to come! )
Anat repenting on her deeds, her realizations on her own thoughts were great developments where the reader understands the reason behind her actions.
I don’t get it still…. Wait! Why do I find Bael very handsome?? He’s such a complicated guy there! I find it difficult to understand this Demon, his intentions. Whether he wants to be loved or he wants to rule her!! But the character himself is very fascinating.
The relationship between Jack and Anat , well… I wasn’t expecting that! Haha!
The idea of Demons is very much interesting to me. I’ll never stop wondering over this brilliant idea! Especially because they are created based in human weaknesses.
AAAnd that end!!! It was a shock!! I just can’t wait anymore to read the next!!!!!!
Of course I recommend this to all the fantasy/ urban fantasy lovers. Hurry grab your copies and sit for an adventurous read!!

“Jack lay in the bed for a moment, angry and horny.”

I was a little nervous as I started this book, because it takes a few chapters to get going, and I feared it would suffer from the malaise common to mid-trilogy novels.

Then HOLY CRAP DID IT EVER GET GOING. About ten chapters in, it picks you up and starts running, and it doesn’t slow down or let you go. This is a sequel that absolutely lives up to the original. It’s exciting, surprising, and not infrequently hilarious. And that ending. DAMN. No spoilers, but it will definitely leave you jonesing for the third book.

I am so frustrated. I love spoilers, so I already read the last pages when I started and was so hyped because SARA WAS COMING BACK. I honestly wouldn’t care if she were still human or demon, as long as she and Jack could be together again so he could stand a shot at happiness. But now having read the whole book I think she may just be a hallucination thing Bael concocts to torture Jack and THAT SUCKS because one - low blow, bro, my boy has been hit enough; and two - I WANT HIM HAPPY WITH HIS SARA and if she isn’t real then he can’t ever be. DAMN IT.

I don’t honestly anymore what I’m hoping for in a conclusion. I think I’m too cynical and beaten up in life for this story to work for me because it’s clear Jack and headed toward a future with Anya (assuming a happy ending), but like eventually that will fail be it via breakup or death so he’ll just have to grieve all over again and NOOOO. But I also like Anya enough now that I don’t want her to just die or watch Jack ride off into the sunset with Sara!

And Cam. I don’t know what to make of Cam. I know that she and Jack are 1005% platonic, but I don’t buy it. I think she is crazy in love with him and just doesn’t know how to confront that, so it’s the furthest thing from her mind.

I’m sorry, Sush! If you end up reading this I know you’ll probably be shaking your head the entire time because I’m so pessimistic and taking it all backwards from what you mean it to be. I am really enjoying this series, though. I’m finally in a head space to handle reading Jack’s grief and not fall into a fit of tears and depression. And the world building is so well done, it’s obviously a lot of time and research went into setting this all up.

I guess I just hope Jack ends up happy. Even if it’s not in a way I think is realistically possible with Anya, it would be nice to pretend for a while again that it is. Goodness knows my smol son needs a break!!! (And a thousand hugs.)

Coming off the high of finishing the first book, you know that the tasks facing Jack, Anya, and Cam are not going to be easy. The author does not disappoint in the way of fights with demons (both physical and mental), riddles to solve, and bureaucratic red tape to get around. Rounding out the action is the relationships, romantic and not, that influence the characters and their decisions.
S. Usher Evans has done a great job of world-building, pulling from mythology and folklore to give a rich and varied society, each group having their own strengths and weaknesses.
You will finish this book eager to get the next one as the last few pages leave the reader hanging, wondering the fate of our characters.

I read this book in 4 hours.

Like Bael’s charming smile, the continued development of the characters will pull you in and you won’t want to escape. The individual characters have self-realizations and lots of personal growth. The inter-relationships are tangled and complex, keeping them interesting.

Love, hate, redemption; demons and humans are as different as we think.

Grab a cup of cocoa, find a comfortable spot and dive in. You’ll forget about the cocoa, but it’ll still be warm when you’re done.

Revival is a wonderful continuation of the story built up in Resurgence. I grew more attached to the characters and enjoyed learning more about the characteristics and politics between demon communities. I simultaneously cannot wait to read Redemption and keep avoiding it because I desperately want to know what happens next, but I don't want this journey to be over just yet...

I’m still reeling a bit from the ending on this one, folks. I don’t know if it counts completely as a cliffhanger, but it definitely pulled the rug out from under me and left me anxious to see what happens next.

This story picks up right on the heels of Resurgence, and if you haven’t read that one, go back now and pick it up. You don’t want to jump in to the action in progress. As we begin, demon-hunter Jack has gone on the run with (sort-of) reformed demon Anya, on a mission to understand the curse that has forced her path to redemption. There is a bit of an info dump recapping the events of book one, but it doesn’t last too long and may be a good refresher if it’s been a while since you read that installment.

So basically, this is a road trip book, and not just one across the US, but a journey that takes Jack and Anya around the world. This, as both the Division and Bael’s minions try to hunt them down. Anya’s ex is none too excited about her escape from him and he is pulling out all the stops to get her back. Jack’s best friend Cam is working just as hard in her own way, determined to get her wayward partner back home where he belongs.

There were many things I liked about this book. As with the last installment, I really enjoyed the worldbuilding. It’s different from so many other Urban Fantasies out there; it’s also well crafted and seamlessly integrated into the storyline. There’s great backstory woven in for Anya, as well as the various factions of humans and demons relevant to the story. It helps builds a more convincing mystery for our characters to solve and it all peels away like layers of an onion. Very well done.

There isn’t much time on page for Jack and Cam together, but Cam still plays an important role and parts of the book are in her POV. She is such an interesting character to me, with her blend of confidence and insecurity… her independence and her need for Jack. I also really like the way she fights the good fight, unaware so long of forces working against her. It’s cool to see such a strong platonic friendship as the one she shares with Jack.

And then there’s the romance. There are times Anya is frustrating in the way she runs so hot and cold with Jack. (Mostly cold.) I struggled a little with the dichotomy in how she is both running from Bael and still professing her love for him, but I guess that is her character arc–coming out from under his hold. And it does make for some good moments when she finally lets down her guard.

I don’t want to spoil too much, but as I said at the beginning, the end of this book is a doozy. There were some good shockers that jumped up and bit me. Now I can’t wait to see how all of this ends.

If you liked Resurgence, you’ll like this one too. And if you’re looking for a new UF series, I’d recommend giving the Demon Spring books a try.

Jack and Anya travel to several countries trying to find a cure for the curse Anya has. Cam just wants to find Jack and bring him back.
The second book in the Demon Spring trilogy does not disappoint!!! The ending though!!!

Jack - the more I learn about him, the more I love him!!! Dealing with his wife's death and the struggle of moving on with his life - FINALLY! a good guy that has feelings, cares about people is not an arrogant jerk!!! My kind of guy!!!
Anya - I have hope that there still is a bit of humanity in everyone. Plus I love that she can stop time to travel!!! I would love this ability!!!
Cam - She's still freaking awesome!!! She is the kind of friend I want in my corner! Her loyalty to Jack is so impressive! I love that they are only friends. We don't see enough of male/female friendships.

I still love the different demons and how they can affect you and that they are living in the world with the humans.
I can't wait to dive into book 3!!!!

In book 2, we’ve found that Jack has temporarily left the ICDM to help Anya in her quest to break the curse that has had a hold of her for over 100 years. She needs to have it broken so she can move on and find her place in life. But she’s riddled with questions and doubt, hoping that she doesn’t turn back into the demon she was before she was cursed. As they move from place to place to hide from Bael, Cam, and the ICDM, the pair become closer as Anya grows weaker.

Ack! This one was great because it focused mainly on our three main characters, all in roles they aren’t used to. Cam knows that the recent killings are not because of Jack and Anya, but she wants him to come back and explain himself. She’s torn as to what she should tell her superiors and what she should keep to herself to protect them.

While Anya spent a lot of her time sleeping because the use of her magic tired her out, I found myself even more drawn to her desire to protect humans. She got pretty crabby in this one and gave Jack a lot of grief, but it didn’t stop him from caring for her. I loved her character, and I loved watching the friendship between Jack and Anya blossom. Another fantastic read and a superb book in the middle of the trilogy. I can’t wait to read the finale!

Evans has come out to be one of my favorite authors she knows how to get you invested in her story and the characters she creates. After finishing the first book I couldn't wait to delve into the second book to continue to find out what happened to our trio and Evans doesn't disappoint. It does seem to start off just a tad slow the pacing does pick up and you see Jack develop from that man afraid to do anything because he doesn't want to mess up to realizing he has a purpose once again. Anya starts to learn more about herself and life outside the shadow of Bael which is wonderful to see. Cam isn't as front and center as she was in the first book but she does have some pages where she shines.

And of course that ending when you think everyone is getting their crap together Evans throws us for a loop! Do yourself a favor and pick this series up you will not be disappointed.

Gotta love some fun urban fantasy! The second book in this unique series builds upon all the drama and mayhem that erupted in the first book. I really enjoyed visiting the characters again and watching them run for their lives. Wait, that sounds a little off...I enjoyed reading about their exploits ;) As Jack and Anya travel around the world, attempting to solve the mystery of her curse, they're followed by death, destruction, and the ICDM, which includes Cam. Honestly, I felt the worst for Jack's parter, Cam, throughout the novel, as she gets the short of end of the stick on multiple occasions. Overall, this was a lot of fun, with lots of interesting little details, and solid world-building. I did wonder a little at what goes on between Jack and Anya (no spoilers, so that's all I'm saying). But, the ending was perfect and totally left me looking forward to the last book in the series!

The weaknesses of the first novel became too noticeable for me to finish this story.

Essentially the male protagonist is as helpless as Kim in the first season of "24". This is at odds of his role as a demon hunter agent. He continually misjudges his skills compared to the threats he faces, and continually requires rescuing from the powerful female characters. It's like a reverse damsel-in-distress, presumably for the benefit of a female audience.

That would be fine if he was a researcher or desk analysist, but as a supposedly seasoned operative it is hard to justify within the lore-building.

Evans really knows how to write a sequel! She strikes a great balance between building on the events of book 1 and answering *some* of the reader's burning questions on one hand and revealing more mysteries and dangers for the story to explore in the next book. The plots thicken and the characters get even more interesting... and in trouble! As always, the characters are the absolute best part of the story. The relationships between Jack and Cam and between Jack and Anya are enthralling, and so very, very real.

I got to read this early for typo-checking and I honestly can’t believe how I kept myself from screaming about this book for so long until now! I mean, I loved this book so much that I find it hard to just stay coherent while talking about it, but I will try my best, don’t worry!

This second installment for the demon spring series was intense, action-packed and just as good—or even better—than the first book! I really enjoyed everything that happened through this book—especially how things centered around Jack and Colibri and how their relashionship as partner’s in crime developed through the story. And I have to say that I also loved those little big old secrets we get to uncover through the book about the division and Lady Anat, and the plot-twists they bring to the story. Oh, and I also loved the ending—which was unexpected and brutal! And last but not least, I really loved Cam’s point of view through the story—which I had been dying for!

Since Anya and Jack are looking for answers and information about the curse that’s making her repent for all the lives she ruined, we get to visit quite a handful of different settings as she seeks out help from all kinds of people, demon places, and old friends. These places go from the familiarity of Atlanta, where Bael’s schism is still open, to Belgium, Munich, Geneva and other interesting places where we were able to find, meet and even fight powerful demons, and also meet new and powerful people—and some of their secrets. What made me love these settings a lot was how the events that developed in them helps you see and know more of the Lady of the Mountain aka Anya.

As Jack and Anya make their way through and out of the US and into Europe, with Cam hot on their trail, we get to meet again with old characters that made the story more familiar like Jack’s family, Navarro and Kim—who spent their days stalking Cam about Jack, and also some well known and powerful demons that we got to meet through book one. We also get to meet some new characters who play important roles in Anya’s life and development like Wani, Ekur and Oce—whom I loved very much. In the end, I believe that they all did a great job playing their parts and bringing new twists into the story with their sudden appearances and unexpected actions; they also felt very real and well-rounded and were their own kind of enjoyable and in some cases, detestable.

In the end, Revival was a great and exhilarating sequel to Resurgence. I really enjoyed how we got to know more of the Lady of the Mountain and how we see her and Jack change throughout the story as they uncover and finally accept the truth of the secrets they had been avoiding or ignoring all this time. Another thing I really enjoyed was to see their relationship grow into something more than just complaining, saving and helping each other. This book was full of adventure and action, and after that ending, I can’t wait for you all to suffer with it while waiting for that brilliant third last installment of this wonderful series!
