Pippa Darling was supposed to be the answer to all of Finn Burke's prayers. The brooding young Irish author captured lightning in a bottle with his best-selling debut novel. Now his agent is demanding he do it all over again. But how can Finn repeat that success when he feels he sold out to achieve it? Even worse, some ditsy Florida floozie banjaxed his MacBook and set his already-delayed deadline back another month!
Fortunately, Finn's alma mater has graciously agreed to send him an American intern to help Finn get his racing thoughts in order and his work-in-progress back on track. Yet who gets deposited on the doorstep of Castle Teármunn but the same woman who wrecked his laptop in the first place!
It sounded too good to be true and that's because it was. Aspiring author, Pippa Darling, was convinced the prestigious literary internship in Ireland was the shortcut to achieving her burning ambition: To have her debut novel published to critical acclaim and finally prove to her doubting father that her dreams of becoming a writer are more important than his plans to have her manage the family bed and breakfast.
Upon arrival, however, the only thing Pippa finds more disappointing than the ruins of the once-magnificent Castle Teármunn is the wreck of the man who now occupies it. Best-selling sellout, Finn Burke, is a literary darling now filled with self-doubt and regret—a writer whose debut novel Pippa absolutely loathed. How can he help her polish her manuscript when he can barely stand reading his own?
You can't judge a book by its cover. Finn and Pippa start reading between the lines and soon discover they have more in common than they realized, including a connection to Pippa's favorite author, the underrated and enigmatic James Black. As inspiration flows and the attraction between them grows, it quickly becomes clear that creative differences are the least of the challenges these two literary lovebirds will have to overcome before they can write their own happily-ever-after. There'll be tears on the page before this is all over—some from sadness, some from laughter, but all from where it really matters: the heart.
The Internship of Pippa Darling is the first in the fast-paced and funny Summer Abroad series by bestselling author Stephanie Keyes. Recognized in 2018 as an International Book Awards Finalist in Romance, Internship is described by eager readers as "a steamy Nora Roberts-style romance."
Author Stephanie Keyes is a geek, a dreamer, and a hopeful romantic who writes books ranging from young adult fantasy to adult contemporary romance. Keyes won the RONE Award for Best YA Book of 2019 and took 2nd place in the Romance Writers of America Athena Awards For Excellence in NA & YA Fiction, both for The Spellbinder’s Sonata. As a romance author, she was a finalist in the 2018 International Book Awards for her debut romance, The Internship of Pippa Darling. In addition, she has also written under the pen name Gemma McKay.
Steph is a Product Manager, teacher, and speaker. She lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two boys. When she's not writing, Steph plays the clarinet, reads constantly, paints, and loves game night with the rest of the fam. Fun fact: Steph's pen surname (Keyes) is borrowed from her great-great-great-grandfather John Keyes, who was forced to abandon it to avoid persecution in Ireland over two hundred years ago.
The Internship of Pippa Darling has the sort of trope I normally love, with all the angst of a tense meet cute and a grumpy mentor falling in love with his mentee. It's well written and passionate, but I just could not connect to either Pippa or Finn, hence the 3 stars. If I had ended up liking either or both of them, I would definitely have been able to go 4 stars, but if I don't like either of the leads, then I can't justify a higher rating.
Pippa has agreed to an internship in Ireland with her college's famous author, Finn Burke, an author whose writing she dislikes. When her very first meeting with him is less than pleasant, I could see their story coming a mile away. I was excited, though, because antagonism usually hides passion, and when that passion's allowed to come out into the open - whew! For the most part, I enjoyed the way their relationship unfolded, but when the requisite breakup happened, it was pretty brutal, and it just reinforced my dislike of Finn. Honestly, though, Pippa's not any better. She's obnoxious, headstrong and dare I say, bitchy, so I didn't feel too badly for her. I did dislike Finn even more, though, and that dislike carried on throughout until the end, even though the ending was probably the best part of the story, what with all its sweetness and such.
I guess what I'm saying is that I liked the story, I just disliked the two main characters, and the story wasn't great enough to make up for my dislike of Finn and Pippa.

Fell in love with the book, all the characters in it and the story itself. It has that feel of Celtic magic I grew up with and enjoy. I laughed loudly at Finn and became angry and upset for Pippa. I will certainly return to this book and recommend it to family and friends. The author has clearly moved from YA to Adult Contemporary Romance with ease and I look forward to her further books. Happy to say that Voracious Readers Only sent this to me.
What if two writers find themselves pouring their unfulfilled desire for each other into their writing? What if they're living and working in the most fabulous forest-house since the Swiss Family Robinson's? In an unspoiled corner of the beauteous Emerald Isle?
As others reviewers are saying, the sexual tension is dizzying. But so is the scenery. And I haven't been been this captivated by a story's setting since I read Peter Pan.
Stephanie Keyes moves gracefully from her niche as a popular YA fantasist to NA contemporary.
Disclosure: The author also asked me to read and critique an earlier draft of this novel.
Keyes brings us to the brink a thousand times before finally spilling us over in what is one of the hottest books, I've EVER read! Holy crumb! She delivered a hot, hot, hot story without the raunch. And did I mention the story takes place in IRELAND? Read it. You won't be disappointed!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review through Voracious Readers Only.
This was a good start to the series, although I found it quite slow in the middle. I would have liked it to be faster paced then but the end made up for it.
I found it hard to connect with the characters and Finn's throwing in Irish expressions (in italics) wound me up-I'm Irish and would rather they were integrated into the story than stand out. The imagery was good-I enjoyed the description of the house and the idyllic countryside.
The story had me teary at the end so I definitely got more involved at the end. I am interested in seeing how book 2 plays out.
4.5 stars!!! Loved it! At first Finn's moodiness got on a nerves a bit. After reading a more I got to know him and it made since. Pippa also had a hand in smoothing his moods out. He is just moody guy. He says harsh irrational things without thinking when he is upset. I have to say I've done that a time or two as most have. It just makes him a little more real. It doesn't mean it wasnt frustrating, though! Ha!
It's hard to say exactly what I liked about this book. The entire thing, really. I loved the setting in Northern Ireland, how both main characters were writers, the character development for both Pippa and Finn and the way it ended.
he is sexy and a best selling author but he is also has dark moods. she is given a chance to work with him but can she work with him. will it make her career to do it? she hates working at her dads cafe. can she do it? will she help him? can he help her? what a read

This is a heartwarming contemporary romance between two amazing characters. Their attraction instant and electric. The emotional drama happens as they each deal with their own personal obstacles and what life throws at them. You can not hope but they get together for a happy ever after. Great story. I you love good contemporary romances this one should fit the bill.
Compelling! WOW! A rollercoaster ride of anticipating suspense! An enjoyable intense storyline that grabs you and pulls you in to the depths leaving you wanting more! At times hard to put down! Fierce intense chemistry! An enjoyable must read that was well worth the read and more!
I received this book via voracious readers only and it was amazing! I love books about writers! Also I’m obsessed with romance. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for something to take them away.
Lovely story about two extraordinary people in a beautiful Irish setting. The description of Finn’s house makes me want one just like it. Makes you understand what hurt can do.
I enjoyed reading this book from beginning to end a well-written story with a good storyline. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A delightful read with a peek into the writer's life and set against the beauty and wilds of Ireland. Can it get more romantic? Also, there's a nice touch with an unexpected twist near the end.
A fantastic book. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Can't wait to read the next one. I am a hopeless romantic myself. Keep them coming Gemma x.
It's a fun story with the requisite ups and downs, but what makes it truly engaging are the wonderful characters and the location. Definitely a keeper.
I wanted a romance novel set in Ireland & went out to find one. This is what I found, but I wouldn’t re-read it again. The scenes escalated far too quickly and there was no build up, which made me lose interest almost immediately. The anticipation of something is the best part! I mean, they were kissing within the first few hours of meeting each other. Additionally, both the writing and events that took place in the story were cheesy. It was a bubble-gum read. I’ve entered the book world of Outlander (which is set in Scotland, close enough!), so if you’re looking for 17th century drama and passionate romance, maybe stick to that series instead.
