Betrayed by those closest to her, Talitha has been stripped of her title, cast from her country, and sold as an anonymous slave into the gladiatorial arena of a foreign land. But betrayal may have come from much closer than she realized.
When the traitor who murdered her family and stole her birthright appears to watch the games beside the only man she's ever loved, Talitha is sure they must have worked together. The former ensaadi sets her heart on repaying their treachery, even if it costs her life.
But her heart might be the most treacherous one of all.
BATTLESLAVE is a 30,000 word novella and the third installment in the all-new WARLORDS OF THE SANDSEA romance adventure series.
Good lord, this installment was yet another thrill-ride in the SANDSEA series! The author takes us into new territory as she expands the SANDSEA universe out into new city-states, new beasties, and so on, but keeps the threads of tension from previous books taught. We are also treated to a host of new characters, some of whom seem nice enough--but still aren't to be trusted completely. As for the old characters, their stories and dynamics flourish here, individual backstories brought into greater focus and deepening their development.
My only nitpicks about this book are that there are a few typos (though they're easily fixable and don't detract from the story whatsoever), and I wish it were longer! Being so fast paced, I often found myself wanting a page or two to catch my breath or soak up a scene. However, that just comes with the format, I suppose.
Overall, BATTLESLAVE is yet another wonderful, thrilling installment in the WARLORDS OF THE SANDSEA universe, and I'm on the edge of my seat to see what happens next!
