The quest of the Seven Swords has freed the shadows to prey upon mankind. Ridmark has learned that the sorceress Cathala holds the secret of the Seven Swords, and quests to free her from the grasp of an imprisoning spell. But the Maledicti priests know of Ridmark's quest, and plot to stop him with a deadly new weapon. For how can a knight fight the shadows in his mind?
Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
I struggled to put this down, like the previous books in this series. The action picked up from the first page, and the plot twists kept me guessing. Even though we aren't even half-way, I'm starting to form some opinions about how things are going to go, and I can't wait. The climax which was a little late, was long and drawn out, and rather delicious. The resolution set up the net very nicely, which I can't wait to read.
Well now it seems that there is more to the Sevenfold swords than Ridmark and his friends had realized. As the learn that the shadows and their past could come back to haunt or even kill them. A series that not only grants a couple of new possibly powerful allies to Ridmark's party but also gained the help from another group of kindred's in the future up coming battle. Moeller not only continues to prove he's a great story teller but he knows how to weave it to make it believable and make the reader want and crave more. Not to mention the fact that he makes all of the characters seem real with humor. As their are time that make you chuckle and time you want to curse the author but none the less you'll come back for more.
This follows the short story Ridmark’s tale which does not have to be read to enjoy this book. Another great book. Moeller never fails to write an entertaining, action packed book. This is followed by the short story Soulblades.
Poor Calliande, she really takes it in the shorts in this volume. Morigna is also victimized and I wonder why none of her fellow Guardians came to assist her when she confronted the Maledictus. Do the Guardians act unilaterally? Seems to me they would be united in the good v. evil battle. But I digress...
Loved the book and the same yet different battles, magical abilities and character developments. I feel like Magatai and Jager could be cut from the same cloth, although Jager doesn't battle his enemies with quite as much zest. Could there be another short story in the works regarding Magatai and his Blood Quest at Cathair Avamyr?
I may be wrong but I found the Maledictus working in concert to be even scarier than the Frostborn. Not too many entities can get the best of Calliande.
Well, Jonathan Moeller, you've done it again! I totally enjoyed this book and anxiously awaiting the next chapter in Ridmark and Calliande Arban's story in Owyllain. Ridmark 's exploits are exciting images of sword and sorcery and I never tire of his quests. Thank you for another pleasurable journey in the company of heroes whose honor and goodness prevail.
Another great story from Jonathan. I've been hooked by this author since reading the first Frostborn novel. Jonathan never disappoints great action scenes and plenty of mystery. Another amazing page turner definitely recommend this series
Always love Ridmark and Calliande's adventures. I am really enjoying the new group with them. I hated how things went with Calem and Kalussa. I felt terrible for them. Enough of Morigna. I didn't like her in the first series. Hated her with Ridmark and now I have to keep reading about their relationship.
I feel like I'm playing an old PlayStation 2 game--I think it was called Lord of the Rings...walk two feet, battle, walk two feet battle, ad nauseam. If there was more balance in this series I'd love it more, but sadly it's getting formulaic. I'll plod on, for the sake of Ridmark.
Shadow was a fun read with errors throughout. This book seemed rushed in places and had a repeat of events from the previous books. I still enjoyed it and look forward to the next book.
