After Maria Mast’s abusive ex-boyfriend is arrested for being involved in sex trafficking and modern-day slavery, she thinks that she and her son Carter are finally safe.

But the danger has only just begun.

Someone begins stalking her, and they want blood and revenge.

Agent Derek Turner of Covert Police Detectives Unit is assigned as her bodyguard. From the moment they meet in a bank robbery where she saves a little girl's life, he is fascinated by her.

When Maria returns home to her former Amish community in Unity, Maine, Derek goes with her as her undercover bodyguard, and tried to blend in with the other Amish men.

For him, it’s personal. He’s determined to arrest her stalker and shut down the sex trafficking ring that he believes may have killed his late wife two years ago.

Maria's secretive eyes, painful past, and cautious demeanor intrigue him.

As the human trafficking ring begins to target the Amish community, Derek wonders if the distraction of her will cost him his career…and Maria's life.

Amish Under Fire by Ashley Emma is the second novel in Covert Police Detectives Unit series. Maria Mast and her son, Carter have been running from her abusive ex-boyfriend for two years. After helping thwart a bank robbery, Maria ends up on the news and Trevor quickly tracks her down. Maria contacts the Covert Police Detective Unit in Portland and Agent Derek Turner is assigned the case. It turns out that Trevor is involved in a human trafficking ring and they can use Maria’s help in finding the ring’s headquarters. The sting does not go as planned, but Trevor does end up in jail. Maria then feels free to return home to Unity with her son, Carter. Someone, though, is after her and they mean business. Derek and a fellow agent are assigned to protect Maria and her son. They even wear Amish clothes, so they can blend in with other people in the community. Derek means to keep Maria safe especially since it is the same men who killed his wife, Natalia. Derek is drawn to the peace of the Amish people, their sense of faith and to Maria. Will they succeed in catching these dangerous men? Is there a chance of a future between Maria and Derek?

Amish Under Fire is well-written and an engaging story. I was drawn in to this romantic suspense book from the beginning. There is plenty of action that keeps the reader moving steadily towards the end (in other words there is a steady pace). I could feel the suspense and tension. The romance and conclusion were expected, but it did not hinder my enjoyment of Amish Under Fire. My favorite part of the story was the theme of forgiveness. It is a challenge to forgive someone who has harmed you, but it will certainly lighten your burden. Amish Under Fire can be read alone. I have not had the pleasure of reading Undercover Amish (first book in series) and I had no trouble with Amish Under Fire. If you are looking for a different type of Amish novel, then pick up Amish Under Fire.

A promising opening where Maria Mast found herself in a bank robbery situation and found herself assisting a police detective, Derek Turner, in saving the day. Maria Mast is a cousin of Olivia, protagonist in book 1 of this series, has left her Amish life and is currently living life on the low to get away from an abusive ex. A number of years have passed since book 1 and Maria has no contact with any of her loved ones. Unfortunately, her ex found her and it appears, he is involved in a more insidious crime ring than Maria ever suspected. With the CPDU's, specifically Agent Turner, help she ran back home to Unity, to her parents' home. Unfortunately, they found her and are threatening harm on the community she loved and called home. Maria would give her life up than to see the innocent community destroyed.

Amish Under Fire is an interesting follow up to book 1. There seems to be a pattern where a mystery appears to be solved but wait... there's still more to come... I do love these character much better than earlier book but it needs to be proofread.

UNITY UNDER FIRE AGAIN

This is the second book in this series and it was another good one.
Maria thinks she’s safe. She left her abusive boyfriend Trevor and now thinks it’s a good time to return to her Amish community. She doesn’t realize all the terrible things Trevor is involved in though, and she doesn’t realize she’s soon going to have way more than Trevor to run from.
She returns to her community with two body guards as the stalking increases and more Amish girls are harmed by the same people trying to capture Maria. Apparently, Trevor was involved in a human trafficking ring and they think she knows more about them than she does. They’re determined to catch her and find out what she knows, and probably kill her too.
The romance here was chaste at first. One of the body guards is attracted to Maria and the attraction grows the more time they spend together. But Maria has gone back to the Amish and he’s a detective in a special unit that could put anyone he cares about in danger. She’s just rejoining the church and he would never dream of becoming Amish…or would he?
This was a quick, captivating read. I love just about anything Amish I read and these stories are good too.

Meh....

I was left sorely disappointed!
I like the first book in the series much better.
It lacked so much and gave too much at once.
Too much love at first sight and not enough of detail to the story. It was very much mundane. It had premise and I loved the aspect of GOD in the story. But it was very much repetitive. Everyday she woke up and stalker would do something different. But it didn’t hold my attention. And it definitely needed a editor.

Sorry this wasn't my cup of tea. This book was really poorly written and I couldn't get past the awkward prose and the unrealistic story line. The plot could have been interesting though

Amish Under Fire, by Ashley Emma, is book 2 in A Covert Police Detective Unit series. Maria Mast left the Amish community with her young son after the death of her husband. She is now living with the English hiding out from an abusive ex-boyfriend. He finds her after she helps out at a bank robbery. With her help, the Covert Police Detectives arrest him for sex-trafficking. Feeling she is now safe, she goes home to Unity, Maine. But trouble just follows her.
Detective Derek Turner goes along to help protective her. This same sex-traffic ring killed his wife years earlier. He has not been the same since and finds his faith returning in the Amish community.
This is a great series. It is the first Amish crime series I have read and it pulled me in right away. By the time I was reading this book, I did not want to stop reading. The Amish live a simple life and rely on God instead of the legal system. Yet they live a hard life, without modern conveniences. The author writes so clearly it is easy to imagine the people, surroundings and situations. The characters are well introduced, strong characters. The author has written these stories so they do not need to be read in order, but there is mention of characters in earlier books. I have not read the books on Freya yet, but I suspect they could be read prior to this story.
The author generously gave this ebook to readers. I was not required to write a review.

Maria has finally reported her abusive ex-boyfriend Trevor to the police, and he has been arrested. What she did not know was that Trevor was part of a sex trafficking ring. After his arrest, Maria is being stalked. Derek, one of the police officers on her case, thinks it’s by one or several criminals from the ring in which Trevor is a part of. From then on, he is her assigned bodyguard to keep her safe and follows her everywhere, even back in the Amish community. There he learns about the Amish way and Maria even better, which makes him wish for a life filled with faith and love…
The characters in this book are strong. They have values, faith, and a heart so filled with love and Christ that they are able to forgive the worst of people, those who have abducted, killed, and hurt the people they love most. Given similar situations, I hope my faith would be as strong that I could do the same. This is a fascinating story about a woman who, during the worst times in her life, helped the police to dismantle a sex trafficking ring and falls in love with her bodyguard along the way. Enjoy ☺!

First off, growing up in New England, we took many trips to PA and drove through Amish country. So as I'm reading this story, I felt myself actually seeing the Amish. I know this story takes place in ME, however, Amish still the same.

Maria did what she needed to keep her son and herself safe. However, when circumstances beyond her control put her in danger again, her only option is to return home. The Amish and their ways take some understanding, however, Maria knew she wanted to be amongst those who loved her and would keep her safe. What she didn't plan on was the detective, Derek Turner, coming into her life.

This story held so many different emotions, from the first few paragraphs to the very last. Each one held me at the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The main characters, Maria and Derek, made for a story filled with adventure, suspense, intrigue, happiness, and love. I truly enjoyed this book and know you will too. I highly recommend adding this book to your must-read list.

Amish Under Fire is the second book in Ashley Emma’s Covert Police Detectives Unit Series. We join ex-Amish Maria Mast as she is in hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend. With a heroic move, she lands in the spotlight and also on the radar of Detective Derek turner.
When Maria’s ex finds her, she has only one option to seek help from the local police. Derek is placed on her case as it was just discovered her ex is wanted in connection with a sex trafficking ring. With danger lurking, Maria takes her son and moves back to Unity, Maine. Derek and Ben, both detectives go along to protect her until the ring can be taken down and the danger is over.
The story had a good storyline and was very captivating. The romance was easily guessed before it occurred, but other than that, it was a great mystery, action book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Well-done, Ashley Emma! Unfortunately because I read 'A Second Chance for Alexis' and 'Freya - The Confession' first, they contained a lot of spoilers for this Unit#2 book 'Amish Under Fire'. I also should have read Unit #1 before this as there is also a lot of spoiler information given in this one which would somewhat spoil the climax of Unit#1. Amish Under Fire is the story of Maria, an Amish girl, who went through some terrible experiences in her young life. It also covers Derek's sad life story and explains how he ended up in the CPDU working to rescue young girls from trafficking and to capture and imprison criminals.

Although this book contains a number of small editing mistakes, it is fast moving and interesting and clean, and could be recommended to young teens and adults of any age. Unlike 'A Second Chance for Alexis' and 'Freya - The Confession', it is a complete novel which I think readers will enjoy.

Amish Under Fire is book 2 written by Ashley Emma in her series, Covert Police Detectives. This story has amazing characters and a thrilling storyline. Some of the characters are from the previous book but now we learn their story. There is excitement on almost every page which will definitely keep the readers interest. In this story Agent Derek Turner takes on the task to protect Maria Mast from an abusive ex- boyfriend and his connections to a human trafficking ring. The author has done an amazing job telling her story through these characters.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Such a captivating and thrilling book from the first page until the end. The beginning starts with quick suspense and action, and it does not stop until the end of the book. Anyone who likes to read about the Amish, the Englishers, and their differences would genuinely enjoy this read. There is a strong attraction in the air, protection of life, and the desire to be real to one's feelings.
Author Ashley Emma has once again created a spell-bounding read for the reader to enjoy. While the reader may not be Amish, there are many parts of the story that the reader will quickly connect with and find themselves in the written word. Highly suggestive read for someone looking not to put it down quickly and enjoy the journey.

Another win from Ashley Emma, this was the next in a series that I purchased together. I know my mom is eagerly awaiting the next books so I read this in a hurry to pass on to her. I love this author so much I signed up for a nook account so I could get her free novels that are only in e-book form. I said I would never read something I couldn't hold and turn the pages in my hand but this author has made me do that! I am hoping to be able to read books on my lunch break at work to get more reading in. I am so glad I am finding minutes here and there to sit down and read a good book, I am glad I found this author. I can't wait for her next book to come out. Will be finishing this series soon I am sure! I also love that she is from Maine!

God Keeps Helping Believers Overcome Deadly Danger

I usually stay away from Stories about Human Trafficers; I usually can't handle the graphic details. But after 📖ing Ashley Emma's "Covert Police Detectives Unit Series Book 1", I wanted to 📖 the next 📗 in the Series. So I started it, despite having some misgivings.

There is danger, threats, & trauma described in this Story. But it wasn't too much, considering the Villans are Human Trafficers. I deeply appreciate, that AE balances the threats & violence, with the Reliance on Prayer, & God's Help to Overcome those instances!

I Highly Recommend You 📖 this Awesome, Engrossing 📗, as it weaves through all its twists & turns! I also Highly Recommend the "Covert Police Detectives Unit Series". ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

AMISH UNDER FIRE had my heart racing with so much adrenaline due to this wonderfully written book. This is the second book in the COVERT POLICE DETECTIVE series and it had a depth to the story and the characters that I wasn't expecting. I kept turning the pages to see what could possibly happen next.

A romantic suspense that had so many twists and turns with more bad guys than I expected. The Amish way of life, along with prayers, were woven throughout and added another layer as the Englisher’s and Amish beliefs and attitudes often collided. There was nice closure and an unexpected feeling of happiness. I look forward to reading more of this series along with other books by this author.

Most people are fascinated with the Amish life style and I share in that interest and in respect for the integrity and peace that that population lives with.

I have read several of Emma's Amish books in that series and as with each them, I have thoroughly enjoyed her stories and read through them quickly because the stories are engaging, interesting, and her characters are easy to connect with.

I recommend Amish Under Fire as well as her other books, Undercover Amish, Freya - an Amish Christmas story; Ashley's Amish Adventures; Attending an Amish Wedding, Finding Forgiveness and others. The author connects well with her reader and tells a good story.

Maria is a single mom who left the Amish community of Unity Main after her husband was killed. She got involved with an abusive man involved in a sex trafficing operation. Maria wants to return to the Amish community in Unity but is in danger from her ex-boyfriend. Derek's wife was killed by a leader of the sex trafficing operation and Derek wants to find and put an end to the operation, but his assignment is to be a bodyguard for Maria as she returns to her Amish family in Unity Main. There are many twists and turns to this story with well developed characters a focus on forgiveness and a facinating plot with romance as a bonus. Another great story by Emma Ashley.

Amish Under Fire. It is a good story about Maria Mast and CDPU agent Derek Turner. The 2 meet at a bank where a robbery is taking place, and Maria ends up having to shoot one of the suspects to save a little girls life. Maria life is a mess as she has been on the run from an abusive boyfriend who she finds out is involved in sex trafficking. Derek ends up getting involved and having to be Maria and her son Carter's bodyguard as they try to take down the ones involved in the sex trafficking. Follow them as Maria goes back to her Amish community to live and raise her son and read what all goes down while Derek tries to protect them and her family and friends.

Amish Under Fire by Ashley Emma.

Ashley Emma is a fairly new author to me, and let me just say, I can't wait to read another one! This page turning suspense captured me from the very first page. The author's real-to-life characters and situations had this story literally leaping off the pages! I literally did not want to put it down!! If you love Amish suspense, or even if you just like suspense, this is a fantastic read!
I was given a complimentary copy of this story, but was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of this book.

I received an ARC copy of this book to read and review: Wow!!! This story was filled with action, suspense, romance and God at work - all set in an Amish community, vividly described by Ashley. It was an absolute delight to read and unputdownable! 😝 Derek and Maria's love story was sweet and touching. They had to endure and come through real issues and did not just have the stereotypical fairy tale happily ever after. This story will uplift, engross, captivate and put a smile on readers' faces, who enjoy an action-packed, sweet, Christian romance!

Sweet romance and suspenseful intrigue

I enjoyed reading this book. It was an intense story of vicious criminals kidnapping girls for sale in a ring of evildoers. It is also a sweet love story between the lead detective and an Amish woman who had been shunned because of her abusive ex boyfriend. The outcome was sort of predictable but the author told it in such a way that made me tear up and heave a big sigh.

Amish suspense

I enjoyed this book. The author handled domestic violence and human trafficking sensitively.

My only reservation about the book are some inaccuracies about Amish life portrayed in this story. From what I have read about the Amish, they are not allowed to draw people or recreationally draw or paint. But, I still liked the book and recommend it. You will enjoy it as long as your not obsessed with details.

This is a clean read.

Enjoyed the story.

I'm a big fan of Amish romance and this series goes in a different direction than many others, keeping my interest throughout the book. I connected with the good characters and rooted for them to triumph over the evil ones. My only negative observation was the editing and all the errors that fell through the cracks. Errors like these distract from my reading. Without the errors, I would have raised my rating.

Amish Christian Romance with a twist. This is a stand alone story that is the second in the series. The author does a good job at giving enough info from the first story so that you're not left in the dark, without bogging the current story line down with too many past details. Amish Under Fire is a quick read and is interlaced with intrigue and definitely interspersed with romance. Looking forward to reading the third one.

Forgiveness and Learning

I truly and fully enjoyed the twists and turns in this book! True that the Amish are uniquely different, but there is a lot to learn along your journey. Towards the end of the story you will find out how important it is to forgive and forget as the Lord requires of us, Amish or not. The part of the story where Derek goes to the prison is a lesson we should all learn from and it's one of the most powerful parts as well.
