love Jessica R. Patch. I see her name on a book and my reader's heart does a dizzying tap-dance that leaves me lightheaded in literary anticipation. She's a click on 'buy now' and impatiently wait for delivery and then start reading before you get it out of the box kind of author! You might say I became dangerously obsessed with Dangerous Obsession. Bwahahaha!
Because this is Wilder's story and I've been waiting on him. All quietly directing things from the background and being mysteriously closed off and aloof in the first two books of this Security Specialists series. Not that he wasn't likeable or approachable or not a great boss. More like a man of mystery -- someone who is super focused on protecting others and not so keen on opening up about himself. A kind of Gibbs type of hero.
Which really doesn't make him a good match for Cosette -- her being a therapist and all. Only, ironically, for all her encouraging the rest of the team to open up and share their emotions willy-nilly she's not all that forthcoming about certain aspects of her past either. These two are the 'pot' and the 'kettle' when it comes to closed-mouthed and the need to be in control. Which makes for gnarly good romance.
And, oh my goodness, that Wilder! I think I swooned into a liquefied state from the very first page and stayed that way right to the end (which makes turning pages kinda hard.) Honestly, I laughed, I fumed, I shivered with delight. I don't know how Cosette resisted him for as long as she did.
But, of course, it's complicated. Not just because of angst from the past but because of the truckload of angst in their present. Serious cunning stalker suspense. It kept me in a flummoxed state for most of the read. This author has a scary aptitude for sinister and she delivers an edge-of-your-seat read. I was so engrossed I didn't even take a chocolate break! Gasp!
The only rotten thing about this novel --- it's the last one in the series! Sob! And I have to say goodbye to all these characters. Double sob!!! I might still be sulking over that fact. But no worries if you haven't read the other books (but you really should!) because Dangerous Obsession can be read as a standalone....or should I say swoonalone?
"If I find out you're lying to me about anything, I will come back. What I do will be slow. Painful. And you will regret it for all eternity."
This latest in Jessica Patch's 'Security Specialists' series is a difficult book to put down. Chock full of unrelenting suspense and intrigue, Patch takes her readers on a wild ride till the very end.
WIlder Flynn, head of the security specialist team, takes it upon himself to be protector to the team's behavioral expert, Cosette LaCroix, when a stalker targets her. The threats continue to ramp up nearly every day and Flynn has a fight on his hands to keep her safe before the stalker makes good on his promises. Wilder has a strict policy against dating employees, but he's drawn to Cosette. His heart is on the line here as well as Cosette's life.
I have been waiting on Wilder's story from the beginning of this series and I was not disappointed. His character is a very strong one and seemed to speak to me during the previous books. I knew he had quite a story to tell. Wilder has some things hidden from the others on the team, things that hurt his heart often. But he refuses to take therapy time with Cosette, even though he knows it might help him.
Patch has done some of her very best work here, in my opinion. She knocks the suspense right out of the ball park! I was hooked from the very first page and read the book in less than 24 hours. This one is going on the keeper shelf, destined to be read again.
Patch's spiritual them here is powerful also, as it is in all her books. We can depend on ourselves only so much before needing to turn things over to God. Actually, that's where they should they should be to begin with! LOVED this book! Highly recommended. Don't miss it. Wilder Flynn is a sure fire hero, every quality he has making him one.
*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.
“Obsession: a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling.”
In this new book by Jessica Patch there is so much suspense and danger; I couldn’t put it down. The main character is dealing with the feeling of someone stalking her. She gets notes and calls, but she doesn’t want her co-workers to know because she feels it might jeopardize her job as a security specialist. After all, “her job was to spot these people. To help other women escape them. Not fall into the same trap.” Only her boss, a former Navy SEAL, won’t let her become one of those women. Both Cosette and Wilder have issues they’re not willing to share with each other. Both are obsessed with being in control of their own life. Only to have it turn upside down when things start to get more intense. Find out all the twists and turns this book has and be prepared to be shocked. The bad guy often isn’t who you think it is. I like to think I’m pretty good at solving these mysteries, but Jessica Patch has really done a fantastic job with this story. I was totally blown away and on the seat of my chair the whole time I was reading it. I highly recommend picking up this book. However, I need to warn you, you might not get much sleep until you finish reading it! I received a copy of this book from the author to read. All the opinions are my own.
If you’ve read the other books in Jessica R. Patch’s Security Specialists series, you probably caught on to the interest and attraction between the owner of Covenant Crisis Management and the resident crisis counselor. It’s been a little bit of fun watching these two argue about the couch sessions Cosette insists on but Wilder refuses.
When Cosette receives a disturbing note and tries to play it off, Wilder Flynn knows something is up with the French Cajun woman. He determines then and there to get to the bottom of it and when he discovers the issue, he’s determined to protect her from the threat.
Patch managed a whopper of a surprise in this one I did not see coming (and it takes a lot to throw me off the trail). But aren’t those the best kind of reads?
Dangerous Obsession is almost the perfect wrap up of the security specialist teams. I have to throw the “almost” in there but I can’t tell you why because it will spoil the whole story (you’ll just have to read it to find out what I mean). It was fun checking in with the others on the CCM team while Wilder and Cosette fight each other and the unknown stalker.
I, for one, can’t wait to see what Patch delivers to readers next!

This is Wilder Flynn's story who has been in previous books in this series. The love of his life Cosette is in danger and he is afraid that he will fail her like he has failed other's in his life. He learns that he cannot control everything in his life and that to succeed he has to turn over control to his Lord. The book has some surprises and some heart pounding moments that will have you cheering for the heros and holding your breath until the very end!
Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I can count on Jessica Patch's novels to keep me up reading past my bedtime. I can count on them to keep me guessing. But this one? She killed it with this one. I was guessing the entire book and then... Wow. She excels at swoon-worthy heroes and Wilder is no exception. He may be one of my favorites yet. We've been seeing him pop in and out of the past couple of books, so getting to hear his story is perfect. And Cosette is the perfect match for him, a strong heroine worthy of her starring role. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up today... but be prepared to lose sleep because you won't be able to put it down!
Jessica R. Patch has done it yet again. She has written a book that is better than her last book! A story that is so gripping and compelling that you can't put it down until the very end. This story has so many twists and turns that you will be wondering what will happen next right up until the very end of the story. Characters and a story line that you will love. I so love the faith, love, devotion, heartache and pain in the story.
The story really did take me by surprise. It's not typical for a later book in a series to be the best, but that is exactly the case here. The previous book was good but didn't hold me attention the way her others have, so I was a little apprehensive going into this one. Didn't want to be disappointed by a favorite author. And I surely was not. To the contrary. And I did NOT see the ending coming. Kudos to Jessica for this winner!
This book was awesome! I have been eager to read Wilder's story, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Author Jessica R. Patch takes you on a crazy ride with Wilder and Cosette. The characters have much to work through, both with each other and in their own lives. I found their struggles to be completely believable. The plot kept me guessing and had me on the edge of my seat. I never wanted to put it down. Another great read from Jessica R. Patch. *My thanks to the author for providing a copy for review. This review is my honest opinion.
I made it to about page 40 and gave up, just not interested enough to continue. I guess this book was just not my cup of tea. I'm not sure I should be reviewing/rating this as I'm not a regular romance novel reader. I've read a very few I liked but generally don't like them. I took a chance with this one and...
Might be okay if you're big on romances, but if you're not big on them, skip this one.
A mysterious stalker is causing havoc in Cosette's life. Who could this dangerous person be and how are they involved in her life? Fast paced, full of action and very intense. This is a great read. Remember to take a breath or two while reading this story. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.
Cosette LaCroix has a stalker. Wilder Flynn is going to protect her. He’s her boss and he doesn’t date employees, but, oh, Cosette, there’s just something about Cosette for Wilder. Their story is definitely a “wild” ride filled with page turning suspense and romantic tension. Both of them have parts of their pasts that they want to keep hidden from everyone not just from each other. How will Wilder and Cossette get past all of the misplaced trusts and weighty burdens and give in to their attraction for each other? And then there’s that stalker…. I pick Dangerous Obsession as my favorite of the Security Specialists series written by Jessica Patch. Once again she has mixed the right amount of suspense and romance and come up with a “dessert” of a book! In addition, Patch is serious about the inclusion of spiritual elements in her writing. The elements of forgiveness and trust in the God Who made and sees you are not jut alluded to but are served up for the reader’s contemplation. When you finish this book, if you aren’t ready to eat cake and play the piano, you need to go back and read it again! I received an advance copy of this book provided by the author. A favorable review was not required.
Oh my goodness! If you love a fast paced suspense, then look no further. If you like romance thrown into the mix, then you will really enjoy this book. Mrs. Patch is a master at both. The hero is a swoon worthy man who wants to protect and keep the heroine safe from an unknown stalker. And may I say, I totally didn't see that coming. This book has twists and turns and lots of action. Oh, for the romance lover, there is the sweetest most precious scene that had me swooning and reaching for a fan. *I was given a copy of this book by the publisher, and this is my honest opinion.
In her latest installment in her Security Specialists series Jessica Patch tells us Wilder Flynn's story. To me he is by far the most intriguing member of the group because he keeps his emotions close to his vest. I can never quite figure out what he's thinking because just when I think I have it figured out he throws me a curve ball!
Wilder Flynn is a man of deep emotions but he won't let it show. He's a shameless flirt but it's a coping mechanism to keep women at arms length. It's not that he doesn't want to love and be loved, but he feels like he's let the women close to him down time and time again. He longs to have a family but the ghosts of the past come back to haunt him at the worst times. He tells himself he's content to run Crisis Covenant Management, CCM, and protect his team, but every now and then a particular Cajun woman calls all that in to question.
Cosette LaCroix is a behavior analysis specialist for CCM and she is very good at her job, if she does say so her self. She is an expert at reading body language and can tell when people are being deceitful a mile away. Of course that hasn't always been the case, she's made some serious mistakes in the past but it's best to leave the past in the past. Besides working for CCM Cosette has a share in a therapy practice with another doctor. She loves her patients and believes in the work she is doing. When a threat from her past makes itself known, Cosette fears she will lose all that she holds dear, including her life.
This is the greatest book ever!! Okay, I know I say that about a lot of books I read, but I swear it's true! There could not be two people who are more right for each other than Wilder and Cosette. Both have strong personalities and are fiercely protective of those they love. They are also stubborn and pigheaded! They refuse to see what's right in front of their faces even though those around them keep pointing it out. Cosette desperately wants to find out what Wilder is hiding because she wants to help him heal. Wilder wants to know what Cosette's secrets are because he can tell she's hiding somehing and she is scared.
Dangerous Obsession is the perfect blend of drama, intrigue and suspense. Oh, did I mention it has a surprising twist! It truly is one of the best books I have read in a long time and I know you will love it as much as I do.
*I was provided a free copy of this book and was under no obligation to post a favorable review. All opinions expressed above are my own.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Dangerous Obsession. This is the third book in the Security Specialist Series. I really enjoy Jessica's books. She has a special way with intrigues. This story is well written, action packed and full of faith. You are going to love this one.
Behavior Expert Cosette LaCroix has worked for Covenant Cris Management for three years. She left her job in Washington D.C. when her boss turned into a narcissistic stalker. Since her job has to do with finding these kind of monster she hasn't share her torment with her fellow workers. She was afraid her boss would fire her. She's seated at the coffee shop, Sufficient Grounds 2.0 when her boss sits at her table. She has just received a note from someone who is obsessed with her. How had Jeffery found her. Her boss demands to know what is wrong with her. She finally tells him about a class reunion coming up. He tells her he will take her. How can she let him do that? She would be putting his life in danger. She has been drawn to her good looking boss from the day she met him how can she go with him. Besides he has a no dating employees policy.
Security Specialist Wilder Flynn shows up at the coffee shop. He tries to give Cosette a hard time.
He sees there is a problem with her almost immediately. What was going on with her? She tells him about a class reunion, this is not the problem but Wilder decides he will take her. The fear that is flowing from her is a tangible thing. He must protect her. Why won't she confide in him. He has been drawn to this woman since the day she started. He wouldn't have hired her because of the attraction but he could tell she was in trouble. Can he keep her safe without losing his heart?
A struggle to survive the attacks of an obsessed killer. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. You might not have a stalker but you do have an enemy who is out to steal, kill, and destroy you. Give God your heart and watch Him turn your life around.
Jessica R. Patch delivers another high-intensity suspense with her latest Love Inspired novel Dangerous Obsession. With danger and surprises galore, it gripped my imagination and held it captive until the very end. I pretty much read the entire book in one sitting.
The author’s character development is superb and like many other of her readers I was anxious to see Wilder featured in his own story. I was not disappointed! Wilder lived up to my expectations and was definitely the perfect hero. There was nothing not to like about Dangerous Obsession. What more could I ask besides a fast-moving plot, likeable characters, a well developed mystery that kept me guessing, a strong Christian theme, and a romance thrown in for good measure.
I have previously read and enjoyed several of Patch’s novels and personally believe that each one is even better than the last. Dangerous Obsession certainly held true to form and to me is the best one yet. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her readers in the future.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the author. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
Ex-Navy Seal Wilder runs a top-notch security agency, Covenant Crisis Management. Cosette is a behavioral expert who works for Wilder. Both have secrets they are unwilling to share. Wilder is a hunky gentleman, with gorgeous hair he won't let anyone get close enough to touch. Though Wilder is attracted to Cosette, he refuses to date or get romantically involved with any of his employees. If Cosette knew the deep secrets he harbored, she'd lose all respect for him. When danger comes to Cosette with a stalker and threatening gifts and messages, Wilder steps in to protect her, but she was at war for her life and didn't need to be at war for her heart with her boss. As secrets are revealed (Wilder plays the piano??), the h and H grow closer together. I loved the many twists and turns this story took. I thought I knew who the villain (several times over), and I was wrong with every single guess! WOW! I never saw that reveal coming! "Dangerous Obsession" is a fast-paced clean romantic suspense with plenty of action, danger, excitement and forgiveness. "Dangerous Obsession" is a book I highly recommend, written by a new (to me) author.
I have to say Jessica, you and Lenora Worth do creep factor very well. The story of Wilder Flynn and Cosette laCroix is well done. Wilder has dealt with difficult situations so he's afraid to cross the invisible line of employee dating. While Cosette has had a serious problem to deal with which is stalking. Stalking is such a hard issue and Jessica did an awesome job of bringing it to life in this story. Talk about a little scary in parts but that is what stalking is all about. Wilder trys to protect Cosette because of his history, but as you know stalkers are never easy. I love how Jessica weaves this story and brings it to life. She has some neat plot twists in this story that will keep you hopping. What is even more neat is who turns out to be the stalker in the end. When Cosette and Wilder finally get their happily ever after it wasn't easy to get there. They worked at it. Jessica your story would make Lenora proud for there are at least 2 of her books that she has managed to scare me a little with some really good plots in her stories. J
This is part of The Security Specialists series, yet it can be read as a standalone. Wilder is a complex character, but he’s a bit controlling, making it difficult to connect with and like him. While the action and suspense are steady, it doesn’t have the same crescendo as others in the series and the secondary storyline seems to disappear at times. However, there are some twists that will keep readers guessing and turning the pages to discover the unexpected mastermind behind everything.
Cosette LaCroix finds herself under Wilder Flynn’s 24/7 protection after her stalker reappears. Threats quickly increase, and Wilder worries he won’t be able to set aside his growing feelings. Cosette isn’t looking for a relationship, as she’s had horrible luck with men in the past. Will Wilder lose the one he is starting to care about, or can they discover who has a dangerous obsession with Cosette?
Cosette seems like she will never escape the person who is after her. She thought she finally got away but it seems the person is set to destroy her. Wilder feels like here we go again. It seems he can't escape the past and he can't get away from losing those close to him. Can he keep Cosette safe and protect her and find whos doing this or will it all be to late?
This book was super amazing. There was a ton of twist and turns and when you think you have it all figured out the author does an amazing job of throwing a wrench into the story and keeps you guessing. This story is powerful and sucks you in for sure. In this story not only do the characters face stalking but they are faced with finding forgiveness and finding hope in the impossible. You really will not be disappointed. This book is a good clean read and so well worth it. I received an advance copy and was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.
Finally, Wilder gets his story! Oh that man. Keeping up with him in the previous books has made it all worth this sizzling and amazing finale! This author knows how to write characters that become friends and feel like you have known them forever. I gleefully look forward to every book she writes. So this one is the beautiful story of Cosette and Wilder – who have had their ups and downs as boss and employee and now are fighting for their lives. Such great twists and danger that I found myself clenching my fists and yelling at a few peeps in the story. How does she do that? So good at their jobs but they don’t want to admit feelings for each other. How can it work? You will NOT be sorry in grabbing this one and savoring every moment of it. Bookshelf keeper!! (and who doesn’t want to run their hands through his hair after reading this?!) I was given this book and this is my own opinion.
Wilder Flynn owes a security firm. Cosette LaCroix is his behavioral expert. Although he is attracted to Cosette and she to him, he has a firm rule about dating team members. Both Flynn and Cosette have secrets that they keep tucked in close. Cosette's appear to be coming to the surface whether she likes it or not. Flynn insists that she let him help her. The ensuing events are intense and paint Cosette in a somewhat bad picture. There are patients dying and phone calls from her dad in prison and gifts and fires and on and on. Trust and the need for independence on Cosette's part are big issues that almost cause tragic results. The finale is a nail biter with a surprise person involved. Flynn and Cosette decide to trust God and work through their issues. Oh, and I love that Cosette isn't a rail thin 20 year old. She is a French Cajun with a figure and I love that Flynn loves that.
One of my favorite Patch books! Ex-Navy SEAL Wilder Flynn just wants to keep everyone in his life safe. As a security expert, that's his job. As a man who's lost some of his nearest and dearest to tragedy, keeping his family members and Covenant Crisis Management teammates safe is his obsession. As for sitting down on CCM team psychologist Cosette LaCroix's office couch, that is not going to happen, no matter how many times she reminds, needles, and prods him about his emotional walls. And Cosette knows about emotional barricades because she's got plenty of her own. These two intensely stubborn and passionate personalities create sparks every time they are together, but neither Wilder nor Cosette has any intention of being anything but co-workers. Will that change after Cosette discovers she has a stalker?
If you enjoy heart-stopping suspense, intrigue, and romance, this is the book for you! Jessica R. Patch is a master at creating vivid, lovable, engaging characters (and, yes, some creepy ones, too!), and placing them in situations that will leave your heart pounding and your nails in jeopardy. I loved Wilder and Cosette’s story. It was perfectly romantic with the most endearing hero and a feisty heroine who is more than a match for him. With a compelling plot and plenty of twists and turns that just kept coming, this book kept me quickly turning pages and reading far into the night. The sweet message of forgiveness of self and others added depth and resolution to the story. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more books by this author.
Wow! This book just blew me away! I loved everything about this book!I
Wilder Flynn is everything a reader looks for in a hero. Strong, swoon worthy, independent and keeps his feelings buried most of the time. He bears a lot of past guilt over events he had no control over.
Cossette LaCroix is strong, opinionated and self sufficient, but finds herself needing Wilder's protection from a would be stalker.
I loved the secondary characters in this book. They bonded well and always worked together as a team.
The action is non stop and page turning in this book. The ending caught me by total surprise. There is also a great faith message woven into the story.
If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense this is a not to miss book!
I made the mistake of starting this at bedtime. Consider yourself warned—you will not want to put it down. Jessica Patch has written a story that grabs your attention from the start. I loved the main characters, Wilder and Cosette. There are truths to be learned through them both, and the author wrote them a wonderful romance. And, oh my, some of those kisses! The camaraderie of the team makes a family. Dangerous Obsession has twists that I did not see coming. I would highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy and am choosing to write a review and share my opinion of this excellent book.
I love psychological thrillers and this one does not disappoint!!! As behavioral expert, Cosette LaCroix is pursued by a stalker, Wilder Flynn, Security Expert must protect her as danger lurks at every corner! The suspense mounts constantly as they navigate the dangers around them and their feelings for each other, all the while learning to lean on their faith.
The mystery and intrigue won’t let you put this book down! Cosette and Wilder are perfect for each other!
Thanks Jessica Patch for an awesome read! What a great story!
Jessica delivered another edge of your seat read. Quite an adventure awaits the reader getting to know Wilder and Cosette. You’ll discover remarkable things about both. The story has you wondering why at many turns, fearing for their lives, and (no spoilers) but there is a satisfying ending — always leaving room for sequels. Thank you Jessica for allowing me the opportunity to be an early reader.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review reflects my personal thoughts on the story.
This is a definite page turner. This book has many twist and turns to it. Jessica R Patch keeps you guessing in Dangerous Obsession as to who done it. Just when you think you figured it out. This is Wilder Flynn's and Cosette's story. Both are stubborn and strong willed. Both battle demons from their past. Both must learn to lean on God and not themselves. After a series of events Cosette is abducted by a deranged killer, but can Wilder find her and save her in time? You'll have to read to find out.
