Lancashire Book of the Year and Dudley Teen Book Awards winner, David Massey, is back with his third and most exciting novel for teens. Twenty metres below the heart of Paris is a chilling labyrinth of catacombs lined with the bones of six million dead people. Fact. It isn’t what 16 year old Fellin Hunter signed up for on a school trip to France – and she didn’t think she would be bleaching her hair blonde, sneaking into underground cosplay parties or discovering traces of a lost community. But then she met the super cool Blaise Duval - and Remy Magritte, a parkour runner who flies across Parisian buildings like he is from another world. When Fellin is wrongfully arrested for a string of murders there is only one person who can save her... but what if he is the killer? "Do you want to come bone surfing?"
Discovered by the same publisher as J.K. Rowling, David Massey certainly made an impression with his debut young adult novel TORN. Published in August 2012 in the UK by Chicken House, TORN won the Lancashire Book of the Year 2013 and on July 30th 2013 the amazing hardcover edition was released by Scholastic in the USA!
David's second book TAKEN was released by Chicken House on World Book Day 2014 and around the world by Scholastic. TAKEN won Dudley Teen Book Awards 2015.
Now David is back with his third and most exciting young adult novel BONE SURFERS - a murder mystery set twenty metres below the heart of Paris in a chilling labyrinth of catacombs lined with the bones of six million dead people. It’s both moving and fantastically compelling – from the joys of comradeship to the terror of enemy attack and the ultimate victory of love, understanding and compassion" - Barry Cunningham OBE, publisher.
PRAISE FOR TAKEN "TAKEN cleverly marks out the disabilities you can see, from those you can’t, and combines love and war to deliver the thriller of this or any other season. Totally unique, totally gripping – it’s simply a stunning and fiercely important read" - Barry Cunningham OBE, publisher.

A great and seductive tale that blends a bit of history with the supernatural, friendships, budding romance, and some eerie killings in Paris. Main character Fellin takes readers through what started as an exchange between British students and comparable ones in Paris to strengthen their language skills. You meet her right after she's been pulled, bloodied and hysterical, from the crypts underneath Paris after a rave-like party turns into a horror show. Much of what follows is told in the form of her being interviewed as a murder suspect, but things get even more interesting after this is concluded. There are plenty of red herrings and some wild chase scenes, all while you're trying to figure out who's been murdering teens in pretty gruesome ways. A brain-challenging and most satisfying YA mystery.
