She Wants It All: Book Three of the Sheridan Hall Series

Rate this book
Happy to sing cover songs with his band and float through New Jersey University with little to no effort, Dave Novak spends the first week of college partying. Then he meets Maggie Patrinski. Performing on stage in front of hundreds is easy for Dave, but the mere thought of Maggie sends his heart racing and turns him into a bumbling idiot. Even so, he can’t get her out of his mind.

Maggie’s not exactly thrilled when her roommate sets her up with Second Floor Dave, the hottie with a reputation. Not only has she just had her heart broken, but she’s vying for a competitive summer internship and studying to become a vet. She doesn’t have time for guys and isn’t interested in falling in love, especially when she may be moving across the country for the summer.

But as Maggie gets to know Dave, his charm wins her over and she falls hard and fast. The problem? Maggie has goals, Dave doesn’t. Maggie studies, Dave doesn’t. Maggie wants it all, Dave only wants her. With their summer plans up in the air and past mistakes creeping back into their lives, their future together is uncertain. The only thing they’re sure of is that when they’re together, they’re better.

Another wonderful book by Jessica Calla about Sheridan Hall. I absolutely fell in love with She Laughs In Pink and Juliette and Chase. This book is about Maggie. She has her life planned out already and nothing is going to stop her from achieving her dreams. This book is also about Dave. He is in a band, which he loves, and he goes to school. He's not all that worried about the future and no one is going to make him change his ways. Or so they thought.

I enjoyed this book so much! I always like stories where the MC's don't really like each other that much in the beginning. And Dave and Maggie definitely had a slow buildup that was very HOT. I thought Maggie's drive made her a perfect heroine because I don't think too many people know exactly what they want in life at such a young age. Then Dave was equally great simply because of who he was. He was someone easy to love.

I unintentionally skipped Book Two because I wanted to be a part of this r2r but I plan to read it right away! I NEED to see what I missed with Ben and Megan. I also already got this authors other book. I just know they'll be amazing stories after reading the ones I already have! Jessica Calla is a great storyteller and I'm so happy I've "discovered" her! I highly recommend this book and any of her others... Trust Me.

She Wants It All was the third book in the Sheridan Hall series and was my first book by Jessica Calla. I received an advanced copy for an honest review.

She Wants It All was told in the dual POV. It was well written with a well developed storyline and characters. It was sweet, cute, humorous, and a realistic description for the life of a college freshman.

Dave Novak. He was the gorgeous twinkle-eyed, lead singer of The Randoms and "second floor" Dave to the basement residents of Sheridan Hall. He was fun-loving, spontaneous, flew by the seat of his pants, lacked motivation and had no clue what he wanted to do with his life.

Magdalena "Maggie" Patrinski. She was beautiful, smart, driven, lover of romance novels and the object of "second floor" Dave's affection. She just came out of a bad and embarrassing break-up and was not interested in anything beyond her studies.

As the story opened, Dave had never officially met Maggie but he crushed on her from afar. So much so that when he met her face to face, he couldn't string two intelligent words together. The smooth talking Dave ceased to exist around Maggie.

I loved the beginning - it was descriptive, set the stage for the hero and made me feel as if I was there with him seeing and hearing what he saw and heard. It also set the foundation for the sexy artist that lay within him. He was full of passion and although he was a laid back rock star, he was intense and full of feeling. And Maggie was an outlet for his feelings.

Calla took us through their meeting, the hilarious beginning of a relationship, and the development to a couple. It was fun filled but not without drama, ex's, scorned past lovers, and family challenges. It also conveyed strong supporting friendships on both sides, that can last a lifetime.

Although it's a standalone and can be enjoyed without reading the others first, I recommend reading the series in order to get the underlying storyline that continued through each book and to watch the development of all the characters included within Sheridan Hall.

I recommend She Wants It All for those looking for a light and enjoyable read filled with sweetness, sexy but not descriptive sex, plausible college drama and lots of humor. Well done Calla. It looks like we might get Tuck's story soon. I can't wait to read more.

5 -- Second Floor Dave & Squirrel Girl -- stars

I started this book as soon as it landed on my kindle and I couldn’t stop reading. I’m loving the series and all the students of Sheridan Hall. I couldn’t wait to read this book from the moment I knew it’s Dave and Maggie’s story. I adore Dave and Maggie together! I loved this book, just as much as She Runs Away.

Dave has a crush on Maggie for several months now and he’s so happy that he finally has a date with her. Maggie isn’t too sure about the date, but she promised to do it. The date doesn’t go like Dave planned it, but he does get another chance with Maggie. Maggie likes Dave more and more, the more time she spends with him. She sees another side of him that nobody knows. Maggie wasn’t ready for a relationship, but Dave slowly convinces her to give him a chance.

Dave is very confident on stage and he loves to perform, but he’s very insecure about Maggie. He was so awkward when he talked to Maggie, but he was also so adorable. He really wants to be with Maggie. His dates didn’t go like he planned, but he tried to make it good and he’s succeed. Dave is a sweetheart and a gentleman. He’s so sweet, caring, talented, reliable and loving.

Maggie knows what she wants to do during the summer and she works very hard for it! She’s so smart and studies very hard. She wants to make her mother proud and she really loves animals. Maggie has been hurt badly by the one man she loved and she doesn’t want to feel that again, so she avoids men. But once she gets to know Dave better, he makes her feel things she has never felt before. Dave makes her laugh again and he believes in her.

I seriously love all the students of Sheridan Hall. They are compassionate, supporting, loveable and caring characters. I love the bond and friendship between them. They made me laugh sometimes. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Winston in this book, but I want to know his story and I want to know who he will fall in love with. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ben and I fell completely in love with him, so I’m sure the author will work her magic again with Winston. I’m already impatiently waiting for the next book in this series.

Second Floor Dave - the cute, sweet, bumbling, hot, nerdy rockstar - won my heart as quickly as he wormed his way into Maggie's heart. Was there ever a more perfect man? I don't think so. From climbing into smelly dumpsters to rescue a cat to not batting an eye when she turns up looking like a hot mess, Dave passes every test with flying colors. I laughed my ass off reading this book. It was hilariously funny, and not what I was expecting at all, but that's exactly what I loved about it.

I know Jessica is an awesome writer so I knew the writing would be great and she has a talent for character development, but I wasn't expecting to LOVE Maggie and Dave as much as I did. I didn't think any couple could top Chase and Juliet in my affections but Maggie and Dave have just nudged ahead.

I thought Maggie's man-hating mother was hysterical and his cousin was a great addition too. I love how Frank isn't forgotten or what happened isn't downplayed and the twist was unexpected but well executed. I did think Dave was a bit rash in his actions but all ended well. The romance in this one was sweet and heartwarming and yeah, I had all the feels.

Now, I'm very intrigued about what is going to happen next. And will it be called the Sheridan Hall series anymore? I really hope we are getting Pooja's book next as I think her story will be very interesting with her ability to see people's "auras." I'm already looking forward to it.

This is a really great new adult/college romance and one I highly recommend. Another job well done, Ms Calla!

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

She Laughs In Pink and She Runs Away were so good, so I was really excited when I realized a new book was out in this series. And I've gotta say... She Wants It All may be my favorite one of them all! Jessica Calla's writing is so good. These stories are compelling with such rich and fun characters. I started this book yesterday afternoon... and then closed my Kindle at 1 am, book finished. I think I recall the other books being a similar scenario. Thanks for all the lack of sleep, Jessica!

The characters are definitely what make this book my favorite of the series. I've never related to a character more than I did Maggie. She's an animal lover with an unrealistic view of romance thanks to all the novels she reads. (Again, thanks, Jessica, and K. Bromberg, Lauren Blakely, Colleen Hoover and the endless number of authors who have done the same for me... Haha!) And then there's Dave. The rock star. The sweet guy with a bad rep who just wants to be a different guy for the girl of his dreams. Well, that's just a recipe for amazingness right there! His whole shy, stuttering, nervous thing when he's around Maggie at first was so endearing. And what he did on their first date... I won't give it away, but let's just say I would have begged him to marry me immediately. I can't even handle this guy!

While this book centers around Maggie and Dave, it's still the Sheridan Hall series so the other characters are always present. From how this one ends, it feels like this might be the last book, but I hope I'm wrong. However, if I'm not, the ending was pretty perfect. This group of college students has been through a lot, but they have found their happily ever afters in spite of the tragedy they've faced. Well most of them... there are a few with some things up in the air, so fingers crossed there is still more Sheridan Hall coming our way!

While She Wants It All is kind of a stand-alone story and can be read on its own, I'd still recommend reading the other Sheridan Hall books first. Not because you won't understand what's going on or anything, I just really like all the other books and feel I have to recommend them as a whole. :-) I'm confident you'll love these characters as much as I do, so go ahead and get started already!

If you are looking for a book that will make you smile the whole time you are reading it, you’ve come to the right place. SHE WANTS IT ALL is that book.

It’s light, easy to read, entertaining, and funny. I read it in about a day and a half. The characters are relatable, lovable, and stick with you long after finishing the book.

I love so many things about this book, but the thing that stuck out the most to me was Second Floor Dave’s kindness. He’s not just the hottie upstairs; he’s a sweetheart. His thoughtful actions will have you rooting for him from the start.

I highly recommend this story if you are a fan of New Adult Romances. I’ve read all of Jessica Calla’s books and this one is one of my favorites (My other favorite is SHE LAUGHS IN PINK, the first of the series and a great place to get hooked on Calla’s wonderful writing if you aren’t already).

I’m looking forward to reading many more stories from Jessica Calla. Her books are not to be missed.

This book!!!! I love Jessica Calla's writing and have devoured every single one of her stories, but there's just something about Dave in this book that makes him extra swoony. This entire series is so amazing at really capturing true new adult and the thoughts and emotions that come with that time in our lives. They can be read as standalones, but I would highly recommend the entire Sheridan Hall series! Five stars!!!

Second floor Dave is in love. Smitten. He can hardly speak around the woman who has captured his heart. Maggie lives in the basement of Sheridan Hall, and he's had his eye on her since he saw her feeding squirrels on campus. Only problem is that when he's around her, he's no longer "Dave the rock star." He turns into some other guy and can't speak, he's so enamored of her. The start of this book was so very sweet, with Dave trying to find his footing with Maggie.

Maggie likes Dave, but she's still getting over her break up with Winston, a childhood boyfriend. She thinks she wants to take a break from guys, but Dave is just so darn cute, she succumbs to his charms. I loved the way these two get together and have to work through (mostly Dave's) issues before they can get to the "good stuff".

Dave is truly adorable and Maggie is very likable too. It's easy to want these two to get together and make it work. Of course there are obstacles. Maggie may get a much-wanted internship across the country and Dave's band may be going on a summer tour, if he can get his act together on his original compositions. They'll have to help each other over this hurdle.

Even more troublesome is Dave's past history, especially since he has a reputation of being a well-endowed one-night-stand sort of guy. What was nice about the story was that Maggie saw the real Dave and didn't buy into his reputation, although it was tough considering the major bombshell that gets dropped when everything seems to be going just right for the couple.

She Wants It All touches upon many themes from the college experience and Dave and Maggie are just so adorable with each other I loved the beginning of their relationship. I also loved how everything regarding Sheridan Hall and its occupants was resolved at the end of this book. I really enjoyed this series, and while She Wants It All can be read standalone, you may want to catch up on what happened before, since the events of the first book are carried through the following two books in the series.

Overall, a very enjoyable read and one of my favorite NA series.

Stars: 5
Length: 461 pgs
Tense of Story: Present - First Person
Genera: New Adult Contemporary Romance
POV: Dave & Maggie
MF / Profession: Collage Freshman
MM / Profession: Collage Freshman/ singer in band
Location: New Jersey University

Love that the story is in first person and the fact that both POV are present. It's a great story, I didn't have the opportunity to read the first two in the series and that was ok. This story was focused on one couple. It did mention a situation that had occurred in one of the previous stories but I was able to piece together what happened. I would like to read the other two eventually, however I don't believe it's necessary, the story can be read as a stand alone.

The editing was great, loved the cover, the pace was good. The characters were both strong, I truly dislike wimpy leading female characters. I was able to see the ending in my mind before the story ended, however that should not be a reason not to pick up a story. That's not everything the story has to offer. For me, I love what happens in the middle, each story is unique. That's why I continue to read stories like these. I love to get to know the characters, see how they grow and change though out the story. The challenges they face and how they mature. Maggie and panty dropping Dave's story was an exceptionally good story as I knew from reading the summary before I began to read it. The only thing that was different from most collage kids, was that they both come from wealthy homes, well most all of the characters in the story come from wealthy homes, so not your typical collage student and not your typical issues.

I receive a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of She Wants It All generously provided by BookFish Books and the author. I will always look forward to reading a Sheridan Hall story!

★5 Oh-My-Dave Stars ★

Scoot over alpha Romeos because nerdy rockstars are taking the center stage!

Chase was a darling, Ben was McDreamy, but Second Floor Dave? He is a hot mess that Maggie and I melted into a puddle for.

He's charming me with his insecurities.

It is hard to believe that Dave, the ladies man of the second floor, rumored to have a huge manly part and a rising rockstar would lose his wits and stutter in the presence of his dream girl, Maggie. And boy, it was too funny to read!

Random fact: Dave's behavior whenever he is talking to Maggie reminded me of a scene in 22 Jump Street where Channing Tatum delivered his legendary line. If you don't know which one is that, check out the gif below :P

Like I said, HOT MESS.

The story picked up from Meg's deal with Dave to get Maggie to go out on a date with him. After Maggie's horrendous breakup with her longtime sweetheart, Winston, she swore off guys and stopped believing in the Happily Ever Afters that only happens in romance novels. Dave was no romance hero, he does not have smooth flirty lines (as a matter of fact, he is pretty much incapable of speech in front of Maggie) nor does he have grand gestures - and when he does, it always go awfully wrong -. For the first half of the book, I laughed so hard reading at all Dave's attempts to woo Maggie, he's just so incredibly genuine!

But.

At 66% - Gosh I would never forget this.

The. Plot. Twist. Ruined. Me.

That's when the story started to take a serious turn and I was immediately transported back to the first book where everything goes down the drain with the incident that shook Sheridan Hall. Between Dave's dilemma and the heaviness that flowed through the chapters, I bawled too many times and kept wishing things would turn out for the best. Ugh, the emotions were too much to handle.

Dang it Jess! You had me again this time.

I fell irrevocably in love with Dave and Maggie's story not because it was the perfect fairytale romance, but because real life romance can be perfect too. I loved how it took one too many tries for Dave and Maggie to find their way to each other, I loved the fact that all the characters are a close bunch that supports each other during hard times, but most of all, there's something magical about Sheridan Hall that makes me crave for more.

The Sheridan Hall series just keeps getting better!

I need a Pooja/Rocco story next! And what's with Evan Riley? And Tucker? Maybe Amber? Suzi?

I.Need. More.

This one was both adorable and captivating. Remembering how Meg promised Second Floor Dave a date with Maggie in exchange for a ride, Dave’s about to collect. However, Dave, rumored to be a huge player, turns mute – stuttering at best – around Maggie whenever he gets a chance to speak to her.

Maggie, however, finds ways to get him to be himself and relax around her, and slowly falls in love with Dave.

Naturally, Winsdon, Maggie’s horrible ex (the one that dumped her post-coital on Valentine’s Day) is determined to get her back, and will do anything in his power to make that happen. And Suzi (with an i) will keep on coming on Dave. Thinking their one night together that first week of school – the week that coined Dave as a man-slut – has a chance to recurring.

Add those outside interferences, with one big one that I’m not going to reveal, to Dave’s struggle convincing his parents a music career is what he wants to do, and Maggie’s hard work towards a desired veterinary internship, and it seems like things just won’t turn out so good for them.

The entire basement gang, still dealing with the fallout from Frank’s death, is amusing and loving, and funny as hell. And they are all there for each other, like good friends should be.

This installment (which I hope won’t be the last) is a fun, amusing, adorable, swoony (like whoa!) and a little sad with a great HEA that I couldn’t put down. Jessica Calla seems to have cracked the formula to a great New Adult story.

I love the Sheridan Hall series so far and hope to get more soon. This is a light hearted story mixed with the perfect amount of humor.

Second Floor Dave is by far my favorite hero of the series so far. He was so kind, sweet & genuine. I loved how his internal nerd shattered his cool confidence was gone when Maggie was near. Maggie likes Dave but, has no room in her life for distractions. She's solely focused on school and doesn't want to derail herself.

I love how each book bleeds into the other and they all are enjoyable without being similar.

4 Twinkle-Eyed STARS

ARC kindly provided in exchange for and honest review. Thank you so much!

It was my first Jessica Calla book and I am sure I will devour her previous stories like my favorite ice creams. Because I am addicted!

I really enjoyed this story. Dave completely stole my heart with his shyness. I wanted to hug him and kiss (and do some naughty things). But it was my first story where the hero was not so full of himself. There are a lot YA stories where a boy has to fight for the girl. In She Wants It All the boot is on the other foot. It was very refreshing.

She leads me toward the bed. The bed. Maggie and the bed. Maggie and her soft skin under her short skirt and a bed. That is it. We’re going to do this. She jumps up on the bed and yells… Let’s play Scrabble!

It was a fast read. I was so involved in Dave and Maggie story that I did not know when it ended. Their first dates, how Dave was slowly opening in front of Maggie and motivating to make her dreams come true. It was heartwarming. The same situation was with Maggie, her support for friends and insistence.

Jessica Calla gives us a really important message and lesson. Do not view ourselves as a less, somebody unworthy. Fight for your dreams and true love. And sometimes it is good to let people go. I was not crying during that scene…my eyes were only sweating.

You are my freaking dream girl…
You are my freaking rock star.

I have enjoyed this entire series so far, but She Wants It All has been my favorite! And it's all due to our hero.

I thought I could love no other Jessica Calla character as much as Ben until I met David "Second Floor Dave" Novak! *swoon* Dave's been in the background in all the books in this series, but he moves center stage in book 3 and that is precisely where he deserves to be.

Sexy and confident on stage with is band and a big bundle of nervousness every time he's near our friend Maggie, Dave is totally endearing. And he fits in well with the rest of the cast of characters.

I love these friends. They remind me of hot versions of my group of high school/college friends. Always riding each other and quicker to give each other the finger and a good ribbing than a hug or compliment. But at the bottom is true love and respect for one another. These kids talk like college kids talk and I appreciate that.

Now, I must try to wait patiently for the next novel in the series. Which I hope explains Ben's mysterious brother. Is something going to happen between him and Pooja??? I can't wait to find out!

I will make the same note I did in my review of She Runs Away (book 2). The snippet says the book can be read as a standalone, and it CAN, but you will get so much more enjoyment and understanding out of it if you read the other two books first, IMHO.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And honestly? It's my favorite Calla book so far; I really enjoyed it!

Guys, my heart! The Sheridan Hall series just keeps getting better and better.
The third novel in the series, She Wants It All follows Maggie and Second Floor Dave. I did not know how much I needed this story in my life until I started reading and could not for the life of me put it down. I'm not going to lie, Dave is my favorite of the Sheridan Hall guys thus far.
This story starts off sweet and light but gets richer, deeper with every page. Jessica Calla wove an impressively fun yet flawed group of characters together in this series, each with their own history and personality that's readily identifiable and comfortingly familiar. These aren't characters in a book; they're your college roommates and neighbors.
If you love NA contemporary romances that are the full package (intended wink to the Second Floor Dave rumors!), You need to get your hands on a copy. But I highly recommend you read the first two books first. You'll enjoy the story SO much more.

She Wants It All (Sheridan Hall #3) is 2nd Floor Rockstar Dave Novak & Nerdy Magdalena (Maggie) Patrinski's love tale. I love this highly addictive series that captures the true essence of New Adult. Beautiful cover. I love Dave & Maggie together and they are totally swoon worthy. Told in dual pov which accentuates the tone and pace. I absolutely love the cameo appearances of Frank although I get all teary-eyed. A unexpected surprise plot twist that is quite a bombshell. So happy with how it ends. The writing style is creative & draws you in. I am looking forward to reading the next novel in this series called Nerdilicious which follows nerdy Oliver and beauty queen Taryn. I was hoping for Pooja's story next as I love her spirituality abilities with colour and seeing people's aura's. I really hope that these character's stories continue as I'm in love with all the character's. Maybe, a spinoff series since they are no longer in Sheridan Hall. I highly recommend reading this novel & series as it's fabulous & one of my all favourite NA series.

Definitely the best of the three so far. So many opportunities for a giggle, especially if you're a romance author yourself. The drawn-out teasing leading up to the first kiss was delightful, and there was so much packed into it. Definitely not your average romance novel. I would to see what Calla does with women's fiction.

‘She Wants It All’ by Jessica Calla is a great book filled with humour and one hot sexy lead that you will fall in love with. This is a 4 star read for me.

Both Dave and Maggie are likeable characters that you can relate to and have you wanting nothing but the best for them. Dave is a sexy rock star that when faced with the girl he has admired from afar becomes a bit of a bumbling fool that only endears him to your heart even more. Maggie is a smart, animal loving girl that like all of us loves reading good romance novels.

This is the third in the ‘Sheridan Hall’ series but is most definitely a stand alone novel but if you enjoy this book as much as I think you will you will want to go back and catch up with the other two books if you haven't done so already.

Jessica Calla has managed to give us a book with brilliant characters, a great light and humorous story with a wonderful romance between two people you will love getting to know.

Out of all the books I read, I very rarely read NA. Why? Mainly because I have a hard time finding ones that I like. I found that a lot of the NA books that I tried, had very little plot, and a lot of sex. And to me? I would rather have the plot that I get in YA, without the sex, than just a story filled with mindless sex. And I think that's why I love Calla's NA books so much. There is plot, and character development, and realistic romance. It isn't the typical NA romance, and I really like that.

In the third installment of the Sheridan Hall series, we get to follow the stories of Maggie, who is studying to become a vet, just broke up with her long time boyfriend, and is ready to focus on her schooling; along with Dave, the fun guy upstairs who plays in a band, doesn't care about school, and is secretly a complete dork. We get to see them through the ups and downs of their relationship, and oh, was it fun.

This was definitely my favorite book out of the three, mainly because I related with Dave and Maggie more than the couples in the other books. Dave's quirkiness and Maggie's strong will made for a great couple, and that left me giggling for a good part of the book.

I also thought that the writing was excellent in this one! Calla is a fabulous contemporary romance writer because her writing is engaging, funny, but it isn't too in your face. This allows you to instantly connect with the story, fly through the book, and have a ton of fun while doing it.

So, who do I think that next book will be about? I'm pretty sure that I know who, but let me tell you who I want to see a story about. I don't remember much about them, but do you remember the girls who just sat in their rooms all day and smoked pot? I think that it would be super fun if they were a couple, and I would love to learn more about them.

So overall, I adored this book! With fun characters, a engaging plot, and a cute romance, how could this book go wrong? Until next time, Calla, until next time.

I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Jessica Calla is a new author to me, and is now on my favorites list. "She Wants It All", (#3 Sheridan Hall Series) is by far the best book on romance I have read for a while, and easily stands out as a must read. Eventhough I'm in my 40s and outside the target market, this college based romance had me hooked from the first page. There is something about remembering what is was like being young, experiencing the raw and new emotions of love that many can relate to, that makes this book an enjoyable read for many age groups.

I gave this book a high rating, as I found Jessica Callas's writing style to be easy to read, descriptive and above all, entertaining. The storyline in "She Wants It All" is enthralling, capturing the romance of new young love, it's appeals, and its complications, that seem life ending at the time. Her writing makes you want to laugh and cry along with the characters and their journey. Jessica Calla's writing effortlessly took me into the world of Sheridan Hall college and I found myself fully absorbed in the realm created, which every great book should do.

"She Wants It All" is also a great read because of the two strong lead characters Maggie and Dave, depicted in this installment. I love Jessica Calla's writing style here as she describes so effortlessly the different backgrounds and characteristics of the leads, with Maggie, a soft hearted animal lover, and Dave, a wild singer in a band. It was heartwarming to read their journey towards love, especially the cuteness of their first dates. I also loved that I became really invested in there quest to be together, and I was left hanging right to the end to find out whether their love conquered all, or was it impacted by their own issues, or others bent on trying to destroy their relationship.

The only small item I would raise, is that I would have liked to have read the series in order, as some of the developments in the earlier series, especially the horrific incident in the 1st, seems to still impact the storyline and characters in the 3rd installment. Also reading all the installments in order would have allowed me to perhaps to foster a stronger bond with the side characters and their relationships.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading "She Wants It All" by Jessica Calla, and I am sure you will too.

This book was given to me free in exchange for an honest review.

The Plot: Rockstar boy loves Animal loving girl from a far. They go out. Things get complicated. This series is heavy on plot. It's a tight story with twists and turns which all comes together nicely in the end.

The Characters: What can I say? I love Second Floor Dave. He's got the rockstar vibe mixed with a delightful stuttering shyness. I'm not sure that I believe that any guy would go to the effort of reading a romance novel, but I like the idea! This vulnerability makes him a little less Alpha, but it made me like him more.

Maggie was also likeable. She did annoy me sometimes with her need to give up her longterm plans in order to be with someone she's only just met but I suppose it's the story.

What happens It's coming up to the end if term so the threat of separation and how the characters are going to spend their summer is the main focus. Being the third in a series, the underlying death of Frank is present throughout the book, but you don't have to have read the previous books to get this. I loved that Frank comes back in a way. I miss Frank!

Things I liked: It was a compelling read. I stayed up till midnight finishing it! It has great side characters. You really get a strong sense of other people. I always like that in a book. It has humour. I enjoyed all the conversations between characters and I loved some of the quirky details like Maggie's celibate, goat-rearing mum.

Things I didn't like: As with the previous books, there is a sadness to this book. Why am I still crying over Frank?! And cry I did. I thought I'd make it all the way to the end but no, there is no escape. So you have to be up for some angst. But my major issue was the lack of descriptive sex scenes. How can Dave be denied me in this way! Booooo.

Other than that, it's a good read! Now I want Pooja's story and Frank to come back to life...

This is such a great series! It's hard to believe that so much happened to these kids in one year of college. But they have become a family through all the tragedy of their first semester. This book wasn't as light-hearted as book 2, but it was fun and entertaining and full of angst and heartbreak and love.
This part of the story revolved around Maggie and "Second Floor Dave". Maggie is a romantic at heart, but also a tough girl who pushes herself and is more than capable of getting almost anything she wants thru all her hard work. But she was heartbroken when her best friend since childhood and boyfriend Winston, broke up with her on Valentine's Day. Although she "gave up on guys" to focus on herself, Dave is breaking through her shell. Dave, although gaining a "player" reputation the first week of school, isn't really that way at all. He is a singer in a popular rock cover band. But he saw Maggie across campus the second week of school and has been infatuated with her ever since. Once he learned that she and Winston are no longer a couple, he decides that he should take a shot. Thankfully Megan, Maggie's roommate and he are friends and she gets him a "first date".
A lot of craziness happens after that, both good and bad. And ultimately, the story is whether or not Dave has what it takes to be Maggie's hero.
Lovely book! Love the characters! Sure hope there will be more in the series!

This is a very realistic story with issues that happen today. I love the dual POV and to see the back and forth romance blossoming. Dave is the carefree, live in the moment type of guy while Maggie is a go-getter with many plans for the future. The pull and tug between them and the stress of everyday life causes their relationship to be put to the test. In the end Maggie has to decide does wanting it all include Dave? I'd say yes!

Ok, Calla had me hooked at « Second Floor Dave. » I loved seeing a totally driven heroine matched with her opposite and how they had to get through that. Another homerun for Jessica Calla.

Great from start to finish

I really like this book. I was a little hesitant with how young the characters were but their stories blossomed and I like the way the side stories were expressed as well. I’d recommend for sure.
