Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

With every book in this series that I've read, so far, there has been an element within it, that takes the reader, and shows them that, with determination, and perseverance, anything is possible.

Leira is the epitome of this. Despite doubts in herself, and the extraordinary power that she is learning to live with, every person around her is helping her, and teaching her, that it IS possible to go forwards, and overcome the obstacles life hits you with.

It's a lesson that many of us are still learning, but it's something that we CAN learn, no matter how long it takes.

One of the things I do, whenever I read any book that has Michael Anderle as one of the Authors, is to read the Authors Notes, once the story is done.

I do this, because there's so often little nuggets of information that can enhance my reading experience - and every single book in this series, so far, has done this!

It's quite wonderful that both authors are willing to show their readers a little of themselves, of their creative processes and, what's even more wonderful, the rewards of all their hard work, in both a physical sense, but also in the reactions they get from their readers!

All I know is, that I've been having a blast since March, 2021, when I discovered Craig Martelle's Free Traders series , which then introduced me to Michael Anderle's Kurtherian Universe, through Craig.

These books then introduced me to a plethora of other awesome writers, and Martha Carr is my latest, wonderful, funny, intense, thought-provoking, discovery!

From all she's said, in her Authors Notes, there's an awful lot of her within the characters she writes, and if that happens to be Leira, or a certain Green-furred Troll, who's addicted to Cheetos, then all I can say, is that I hope I get to read new books, by her, for many years to come.

With this book finished - and, once again, it drew me in, and kept me focused (and often breathless), until the very last page - I'm going straight on to the next book of this great series, which is Book Eight: 'Guardians of Magic'.

So, I will catch you on the flip side of this next adventure, and I'll let you know what I think of it, once I've finished reading it!

4 Equal Measures Of Joy And Saddens In Opposite Directions All At Once Stars

Enemies of Magic is the seventh book in The Leira Chronicles series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.

Oof, what a doosy of a book. So much happened in these pages, and we didn't even come to a solid resolution for any of the truly pressing concerns. There are honestly far too many more now. Shifters having been created in the past with and of dark magic, and the ancient families of dark practitioners setting out to create more in the hopes of building an army.

There's still an artifact race happening across the world as the ignorant human governments and corporations vy for any opportunity to hold onto their perceived power when the portals open connecting Oriceran and Earth. Wolfstan Humphrey is tapped into some very dark, and very powerful magic. Building up his company Fleeker, and orchestrating horrifying calamities. Charlie has been completely taken over by the dark mist, subverted to its machinations to spread its plague within the human masses. I'm concerned for Lily Sharpton, and hope she can turn double agent and assist with taking down one of the great evils Leira and Co. are up against...

It's interesting to see Leira and Correk finally beginning to accept their feelings for each other. Even if it was only internally, or very little at all. They have such a joyous and playful relationship already. I hope for their continued survival, and future success.

Thankfully, with Jackson's and Louie's help, Leira was able to at least but stopgap measure in place to survive her overabundance of power, and resist giving herself over completely to the light. I wonder when th General, the Silver Griffins, and the other forces of good will team up more completely to take on all the turmoil that keeps finding them.

Should we be worried that Rhazdon is on her way back towards Austin with news for Underwood? That she may nefarious ideas in mind to persuade Leira to save her miserable life?

What more trouble can Yumfuck stir up, with his new fascination into Batman and becoming a vigilante himself?

Kindle Unlimited, although bought all the ones out in Leira series so far, thanks to having what I considered a 'catch up' sale on the ones had missed when the came out in the beginning, but had always caught the small novellette ones which are listed below as .#, and made sure to catch this one first day. Room mate said wasn't a lot of YTT in this one, told him to reread it, beause there was quite a bit, and to leave a review for the books which he hasn't been doing...so one of these days....

Leira Berens thought the war to reclaim magic was over… but it was just beginning. Ancient magic has been uncovered and Dark Forces are putting it to good use. Anybody need a human being changed into a hairy beast to do your bidding?

History is coming back around to repeat itself… and it’s looking for a score. An old enemy will reveal themselves to tip the balance in someone’s favor as the prophesy comes to life and a new force enters the war on magic.

Break’s over… time for Leira to go kick some ass.

Getting it together? This one in the series seems to be better than before. Has more connectivity between scenes and characters. Maybe the story is becoming more of a whole and less of a random collection of... disconnected jumble.

The characters show development and growth. Not to mention the fact that they are more understandable and less random in actions. There is still some disconnect between character and time for reactions, but it is getting better as the series goes on.

Overall, the story is getting more coordinated into a whole and less of a mess. This book shows much improvement over the predecessors in the series and was quite entertaining. Finally, sticking with the series pays off?

I seem to be reading faster than I manage to keep up with the reviews. So I am going to cheat a bit here and make a combined review for books 5 to 7 (Dealing in Magic, Theft of Magic, Enemies of Magic) in The Leira Chronicles.

The three books continues Leira’s magic adventures with the usual mix of ass kicking, bantering and silliness (unfortunately). Luckily the silly part felt a bit toned down compared to some of the early books in the series, or it might just be that I got used to it and is filtering it out.

Overall I enjoyed the read. Dealing in Magic was probably the weakest of the three books. That one just barely got 3 out of 5 stars. The fourth and fifth book were more enjoyable.

There are plenty of things to like in these books. I do like the characters, the bantering between them and, of course, the magical action and general ass kicking. It is simple, almost fast, reading but, as I wrote, enjoyable reading. The troll is still funny, I quite like him, but he is also evolving as a character in these books. Wonder where that will lead?

Other things I could be without. I’m not overly thrilled about this animal sanctuary stuff even though it did get somewhat tied into the story after a while and I would not really shed any tears if the romantic distractions would be given less space.

There are some passages in the book that adds some quite substantial build up as to Leira’s true powers. I just hope that, when the conclusion finally comes, it is well handled and doesn’t become a muted fizzle at the end.

There are also a rather surprising twist involving Rhazdon and Turner Underwood that I am really eager to read more about. I certainly did not see that one coming.

Just saw that book eight, Guardians of Magic, had been published. Click…download…all set!

Helluva good time!! Aaand ended on a demanding note to keep going

This was a fun book and by fun, I mean if you're into drama situational drama action, just a lot of good avenues of engagement on the fantasy realm and in urban fantasy. Very enjoyable fleshing out the characters. Even further character development was superb. I owe a lack of sleep to the author since the book was engaging enough. I did not want to put it down and I've already purchased the next one. Going to open it here in just a moment and get to reading..

Lots of questions, few answers

Enjoyed the book, characters and ongoing storylines. But there are many, more added every book, with very few answers coming across. Looks like Harkin is back, Rhazdon has more to say, and Correck finally figured out !sure he doesn't want to be just friends with Leira. The fixer is a fixture in this book. Training both. I like Jackson and hate the raw deal he got. YTT is a super hero and I'm here for it.
. On to next book.

Interesting changes for the characters

How does that song go? Oh yes! “Love is in the air..” There were some pretty cool relationship moments in this book. Also, at least one really emotional heart string pulling moment too!

We also start to learn about the next dark mess, learn about some new characters, learn more about some existing characters (including YTT! :)

Enemies of Magic (The Revelations of Oriceran)

I'll admit I was very slow to really enjoy this series. At first, it made no sense to me but lately I've grown invested in the characters and plotline. Also, in my reading tastes, I prefer lots and lots of action and the last two books have more than met that need. Can't wait for the next story!

The story is really coming together

I love how this series is full of action and humor. The storylines are great and I like how they are left open so you can just continue on with the next book. It's great the way they keep introducing more creatures in each story and how they pull the original casts more into each book. I am looking forward to starting the next book.

Best one yet!

I am truly in love with the cast of Magicals and Humans in this epic saga. (A Troll is a Magical, right? YTT FTW!)

This is the first book in series that made me cry tears of joy - twice! These amazing people deserve happiness! YAY!
It just keeps getting better. Well Done Queen Martha, Mistress of Mirth, Myth, and Magic!

Flew through this, why must they be so short!
I love the main storyline but also the side ones, like when we get POVs from YTT etc.
Also, YTT is apparently a superhero now and I am so here for it!
It took Correk 7 books to realise he wants to be more to Leira than a friend, took you long enough!

More depth to this one

I loved all the back stories. Thanks for fleshing out more of the characters. And don't think we didn't catch the French redheaded baker who smoked while kneading and rolling.

Crazy ending!

I did not see that coming!!!! So much is happening, and Martha keeps it all going smoothly. I wonder if she juggles? Action, wise-ass comments, rivalry, friendships, and a little romance. Did I get all that? Book 8 will blow my mind, I'm sure of it.

Team Corrick all the way!!!

It is so fun to read the back story of Liera and Correck. Having read the Unbelievable Mr.Brownstone and School of Necessary Magic first, it all comes together now. I love this universe, it has completely captured my imagination.

No personality for the characters and too many random activities thrown in without furthering the story. I think the authors are feeling too much pressure to push books and not enough time to let the plot flow.
