This is a romance novel that has an interracial romance that has instant chemistry and the question remains if he will hold up. Good pacing in the story. Samantha is written as if she doesn't need a man, but she craves Jacob in the worst way, and shows that no matter how independent you are, opening yourself up to a relationship is always a positive thing.

The heart wants what the heart wants
Texan billionaire and popular TV star Jacob Latters just could not explain why he was so drawn to the Atlantan party & event planner Samantha Posey aka Tiffany Skyler. At first he was very standoffish when she tried to engage him into helping her plan a charity event she was doing for him. She decided to stay in the background and observe him at other public events involving him so she could get a feel of what he was like. Well, that backfire when he saw her from afar and practically ran her down to just talk to her. She did not want to reveal who she really was so she lied to him thinking it would be the only time she would see him before the event. What neither one of them expected was that they really hit it off and just fell head over heals for each other. With his and her life being so busy, she planned on revealing her true identity before it was too late but as best laid plans of mice and men go, it did not happen and he was beyond livid and pushed her away not trusting a liar. Needless to say, they were both miserable without each other, but that was not the only obstacle in their way. Jacob had family secrets and so did Sam's father, unbeknownst to her. Their rode back to each other was long and hard but what they did have was a very strong love for each other. They just had to learn to forgive each other and communicate better. They both had to deal with crazy exes and stalker fans and prejudice. Some things were harder to handle than others, like Samantha's ex, the crazy abusive professional boxing welterweight champ Julius Vanteno, proved to be very dangerous for the both of them.
Posey wrote a very long and detailed love story about two people coming from very different backgrounds finding love for each other and fighting to stay together regardless of popular opinions or family. Sam had to learn how to deal with life with a popular celebrity and his lifestyle and some of his traditional beliefs. The only thing I did not like about this story is that there was too many sex scenes, if there is any such thing, more focus should have been on the plot. IMHO. Sam and Jacob's chemistry was crazy hot, but there should have been a balance. I was so tired of them fighting and running from each other knowing dang good and well they could not stay away and had crazy make up sex when they got back together. I was so aggravated with the both of them. But that ending though, it was so explosive and explained a lot. What else is going to happen to these two, now that the cat is out of the bag.

I don't know if it was just how this story was told and the writing style, but I just didn't like it. Everything was so short and blunt. He did this. She did that. They do something else.. It was not as descriptive in the way that I'm familiar with, and perhaps that threw me out of my comfort zone.
Samantha is a party planner who is in charge of a fundraiser for actor Jacob Latters. He isn't too willing to meet with her at first so under the guise of a photographer, Samantha invents a false identity and interacts with Jacob. He's drawn to her, and they make plans to meet outside of work. It's an unusual foray into an interracial relationship for both of them, but their attraction is intense and it seems nothing (and I mean nothing.. sigh) can keep them apart.. at least not apart for long.
There is definitely some potential in this book. There was plenty of drama (maybe a bit too much?). I think, again maybe with this writing style, every scene came across redundant and unconvincing. It seemed to be a lot of the same. There was passion and lovemaking, then arguing and breaking-up, then making-up followed by some sort of drama (family, work, ex-relationships.. so much drama), and repeat.
I myself like to write in a stream of conscience way, just putting thoughts down with no real structure and beginning or end. I, though, write for my own personal enjoyment and don't intend the general public to take any notice of what I write. I don't think the way this book is written is the right way to go about writing a book. Thoughts and ideas are presented but not adequately explored. There was a lot of telling rather than showing.. if that makes sense.
And what was that bit thrown in at the end?? I mean WHAT?

This book pissed me off so bad, I've never been this outraged over a book!! First of all there is such a thing as too much sex!! This book had more sex scene than dialogue. Literally ever page was a sex scene!! Second both of these characters pissed me off. They both were immature if you ask me. Third the story line. Lord Jesus I can't. At this point I don't even want to read the second book if it's more of the same stuff!!!

I had a hard time finishing this one. I have read the other books prior to getting these (Hidden Witness series, Relentless Chase and Nicki's Love Torn) and this book has given a little clarity to the characters and introduction of each of the main ones. This one shows Samantha's immaturity (because in the other books I mentioned, she was a stronger and more mature character). I am sure she grows into herself in the next books. At least, this one and I am sure the next ones will show Samantha's background as well as Jacob's and how they grew up.

I won this book as part of Goodreads First Reads competitions. I felt as i had won it, and the author had signed it, i ought to show respect and get to the end. I really struggled to do that.
This book is written in the present tense which I'm not a fan of anyway - nor of books which are written in the first person, which this one is.
The grammar and punctuation was awful - sentences didn't make sense because they lacked a comma or whatever - it just didn't seem like it had been edited at all. All the sentences were extremely short too - no building, explaining etc, things just, were. A lot of, in fact everything, was told not shown. all the characters talk so robotically too. And every new person that is introduced gets a small paragraph explaining what they look like!!
"This is Veronica; Todds's girlfriend," says Jacob. "Tiffany this is Jenny and Mark; also good friends of mine".
Veronica comes off very snooty. She is white with long jet black hair, piercing blue eyes and a tall skinny frame.
Jenny is a very pretty tall skinny with woman with long blond hair and green eyes.
Mark is a handsome man about 6ft tall with a muscular build. He has short brown hair and green eyes. - I have never, ever enchanted this in a book before, and I hope i never do again, its just not necessary. Readers have imaginations, thats the whole point. Give us enough to go on and we will come up with our own images of how people look.
POV changed willy nilly - it got confusing at times. The other thing that really pissed me off is that almost every argument there was, something about their race was used. Im in a mixed race marriage and in 16 years it has only ever been an issue once. I didn't like all the racial slurs that were used, i didn't like it when he got called 'white boy' etc - it just made me uncomfortable. Honestly, my 7 year old can write a better story than this.
"They start making love up against the wall, then inside the closet, and finally on the bed. The sex is mind-blowing. They make love for most of the day. They only stop to eat. she doesn't understand how their connection can be so strong.
Jacob is really upset that this psycho is trying to kill them."
The story was ridiculous. Absolutely the most ridiculously far fetched story i have ever read, and I've read a lot of stories. Eclipse et al is more likely to happen than any of the things that happened in this book. The main characters fall out more times than anything I've ever known then forget with the 'i love you's that follow. Then they have sex. A lot of sex. A lot of mechanical sex. Where he puts his erection inside her. See....... annoying isn't it? Oh and thats just reminded me, everything is followed by exclamation marks! literally! Everything!!
"Don't judge! you know nothing about me! Look me up! My boyfriend is Jacob Latters!" says Samantha. "i'm so tired of everyone judging me!"
Im sorry to leave such a harsh review when i was given the signed copy for free, i really am. But, i feel i should save others from reading 463 pages of absolute drivvle. In fact looking back, I'm not sure why i felt compelled to finish the book. Especially as I'm half was through an assignment for Uni and allowed myself ONE book as a treat! That'll teach me.

I received a copy of the book through Goodreads First Reads in exchange for my honest feedback.
I did finish the book however, I kept wondering why. It was hard for me to capture the true story of this book because of the style of writing. The book is mainly sentence fragments and not many full paragraphs. I also found a few typos in the book with my copy being a final print. The story line was not set well for me to follow. Just felt like I was rereading the same stuff repeatedly…the characters fight, they have sex, occasionally something different would happen then it would repeat again with another fight and sex. This is about 85% of the book. I also did not like the way the book ended. To me after reading 463 pages there should have been a conclusion. Instead the final chapter does a one eighty for what I believe the author was trying to create a cliffhanger.

So I decided to read this book because I read the Not Giving Up series by this author which was pretty decent. This must be the first debut by this author because this book needed a ton of editing and the drama was a mess and not in a good way. By the time I got to 3/4 of the book I was thinking these two should never be together. I barely made through this book. I'm glad this author has progressed as a writer.

I'm sorry. I really don't like leaving bad reviews. However for me . I couldn't get into this book. I read about 8% of it, and couldn't even read anymore. I didn't like the flow of the book. And the writing throw me off a bit. But that's just my opinion.

Good read,I enjoyed it, although it seemed to take me forever to read this book. Now waiting on Book 2 to see how Samantha and Jacob's story ends.

Hum....
Ok. I have so much I can say about this book. However, I will keep it to key themes. It reads like an earlier series in the Posey book catalog, and perhaps that is the disconnect for me a bit in my expectations, so I have to put it all in perspective.
Now, honestly, I felt this book was a bit to way too long, and I think the trauma Samantha and Jacob (mostly Samantha) brought fueled a very toxic relationship. I'm not sure I needed to experience every iteration of it as we didn't learn anything new. I'm glad they were able to make it, but it made the book frustrating for me to finish, and the length compounded it. I am reluctant to start book two as I need a break from them, and it's not usual for me to want to do that. We spent so little time on the sniper part of the story and the trade off seemed to be more toxic trauma? Perhaps, she saves the depth there for book two.
I will press on as I really enjoy the great works of Posey. I'm not sure how I skipped this part of her catalog with this series, but I see characters that are in other books, and character background and development are important to me. Growth is important to all of us as we work our craft, and Posey has done. Kudos to her. One to book two.

Sex in two cities!
As much as I wanted to give this five stars, I couldn’t! I only gave it four because I couldn’t give it three and a half! Don’t get me wrong I love the story and I know it’s a sexy love story, but do we really need to have our leads having sex in every chapter and every other paragraph? It’s like that’s the only way they can communicate! No wonder they’re always arguing; they don’t know how to really talk to each other! To be honest, I skipped over the sex scenes because it just became too much!
They twist words, assume when they don’t know the whole situation; typical relationship issues! Jacob and Samantha are a cute yet drama filled couple! They definitely love each other.
Also, do we really need the full physical details of every character? I understand the “racist” aspect but who cares what ‘extras’ look like! An ex-girlfriend or boyfriend maybe but not everybody!
With all that said, I like author’s writing style and regardless of the above things I pointed out that bugged me, I still liked it.

Awful! Refund desperately needed!!!
Who wrote this drivel! Must of been a wordstruck twelve year old. Sorry but this is just a badly written book that held a smidgen of promise which never even got a chance to leave the gate! I normally do not write scathing reviews as I know writing is an art and is often coming from the writer's heart and mind. However to not be honest in my review no matter the tone of it would be grossly unfair to figure readers and possibly the author herself. The word choices in this read were just all over the place, the point of views were sporadically mixed and mingled. It was quite a choppy read and it was crazy scenarios after even more out there scenarios. It was like while writing the author kept coming up with random plot devices to throw a wrench in the couple's relationship and it was just too much. This read was way too long, way, way too long for a book that could not bring the boom it seemed to promise readers. Sorry disappointed as I bought the entire series and now I'm stuck with these books.

Poor writing and fidelity issues...
I've read other books with Samantha and Jacob making an appearance, so I decided to give their books a try. This was terrible. So many errors and the story was just horrible. Samantha was immature, spoiled, and overly dramatic. Jacob was a beta, at best. Both were annoying. The racial issues were dumb and over the top. I skipped the love scenes because the dialog was so awful. And, to top it off, at the end of the book, Samantha basically gives him a free pass after he cheats on her at his bachelor party. (She doesn't cheat at her bachelerotte party.) His siblings were invited to the bachelor and bachelerotte parties, but her siblings were not. I don't think it would have happened if her brother had been there. Also, they apparently plan to eventually have at least one threesome. Out of the blue, Jacob said he didn't want one yet, but they talked about "when" they do it. This book was not for me and I can't recommend it to anyone else. Disappointing!

I skipped the love scenes because the dialog was so awful. And, to top it off, at the end of the book, Samantha basically gives him a free pass after he cheats on her at his bachelor party. (She doesn't cheat at her bachelerotte party.) His siblings were invited to the bachelor and bachelerotte parties, but her siblings were not. I don't think it would have happened if her brother had been there. Also, they apparently plan to eventually have at least one threesome. Out of the blue, Jacob said he didn't want one yet, but they talked about "when" they do it. This book was not for me and I can't recommend it to anyone else. Disappointing!

I really wanted to like this book. I love the potential and chemistry between Samantha and Jacob but it left me feeling frustrated.
While the sex between them was explosive and all consuming it also locked them into this negative cycle of using sex to pacify one another and as a way to avoid taking ownership for their choices; a pattern that keep repeating since book 1.
Additionally where’s the justification of killing Amber other than jealousy. Jacob has continually put himself in situations where he is susceptible to crossing boundaries. For example, from when he got a blow job at his stag to visiting Amber after a fight with Sam.
Moreso, the audacity of both Jake and James (including their wives) to be so dismissive about how they continually manipulated and coerced their children since the tender age of 10 and yet Jacob and Samantha still allow them to be part of their lives.

So Awesome to Read
What a enjoyable story with amazing characters that are captivating with a relationship that is entertaining but drama filled.The couple has a sizzling passion and burn up the pages.This is a amazing story about a couple that was best friends first as usual women wish that we could have sizzling passions and we don't fall in love but that's hard for us because we do. This is the kind of story that has you cheering for the couple and when it all comes together. There is funny, sad and emotional parts. It also kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what Rowdy would do next. All of the drama will keep the pages turning. I wanted more to the ending but you don't always get what you want. I'm looking forward to the another story from this author she is awesome. in this series because I really enjoy them.

This is my review and how I see it. These two right here, I kept wonder if I was reading about two adults or two children. I will finish the series because I want to see how they transition from what they are in this book to what they become in others.
I am seriously like these two don't need to be together they are too toxic for each other. I really want to see the dynamic of his and her father and how they know each other.
Hold up...wait a minute, If Jacob is not like his family how can this be in this book???!!! "He has one token black friend, Lucas." Okay, that explains it, but really?!

I'm not that far into reading this first installment in this series. However, I'm taken in a mixtures of feelings. It has brought to light many factors of mixed race dating not often brought up in dating.
Having been in a mixed race relationship with us having children. It gets frustrating reading mixed race relationship yet they never experienced any of the hardships with outside forces and racism.
It's humbling to see actual reflections of what has happened and could have happen in real life relationships.

TRASH!!!
ABSOLUTELY HATED THIS BOOK!!! It had improper use of an exclamation mark. It would talk about one thing and then jump to another, like what did I just miss!! Seemed like the author was going one way with the book and changes at the last minute to making the characters into hypnotized killers! I wish I would have started reading this book as soon as I purchased it so, I could have returned it!!! Lousy writing!!!

I liked the idea of the story, but I had a hard time with Samantha!! She was literally running from Jacob every other chapter. Even when he showed her how much he loved her and would protect her at any cost she still ran. Now I love a book with passion, but not every other page! I was literally skipping through the book because there was soooooo much. Not sure I would read the rest of the series😒

Enjoyed it
I have never read any of your books. I was interested in reading The Assassin Mob Wives, but I realized the characters had back stories, so here I am. I liked them as a couple. In my opinion, it seemed like the story was all over the place, as was Samantha's emotions. I'm glad they finally got it together. You have a new fan. By the way, I loved the Hidden Witness series.

The storyline was good, I liked the characters but felt they were a bit childish in their action. I am glad they got their crap together and can't wait to find out what happens next. I can overlook things when I understand the concept of the story. I have read all of Ms. Parks books and just getting around to her first series.

I read Part 2 first and now Part one. I don’t like how their fathers did them by making them assassins and hypnotizing them so they don’t remember their childhood and part of their adult life. Not to mention Jacob’s father and grandfather tried to have her killed because they are racist. Also to tell them on their wedding day while she a pregnant. Made for an interesting story.

I really did not like this book until I was 97% into it. I have read the other books in the series with Samantha and Jacob. This book made Samantha weak. She cried most of the book and they has sex more times than I could even read. This first story could have been told in half the pages it took. I am not even sure the next book is worth reading.

I like this author I really do but these stories the heroine and hero knew each other but were brainwashed so they forget one another is interesting, and oh all these women are assassins along with their dudes but no one knows who’s the double agent?! I’ve never given up on a series from an author I love , so this pains me:(.

To to Much Sex and Issues Going on!
The plot turns left and then right! There is sex in every other page. Its a wonder she didn't end up with a great big hole. The heroine was a volcanic brat and the hero was a big broader. They both needed a time out so they could grow up. Sorry author not a well written book.

Not bad
Wanted to read because there were tidbits if their story in other shantee parks and possy parks books and then to see them again when I read hidden witness and also relentless. Worth going back to see their story.
