I have a friend that suffers from Gastroparesis, so I got this book to check it out.
It starts out with a cursory overview defining and explaining the disorder, symptoms, and possible causes. The book also encourages lifestyle changes to deal with the symptoms. The book includes a shopping guide, a restaurant guide, and a list of things you will need to make all of the recipes in the book - including a slow cooker, storage containers, etc.
Each recipe is perfectly portioned for two people - ideal for my friend since they have no children at home. The recipes are easy to follow, simple, and accommodate a wide range of tastes - including a vegetarian section.
If I had any suggestions, I wish their was a separate section for fish and a separate section for chicken. Currently, they are lumped together in one section. I'm a pescatarian, though, so it makes it more difficult to locate the fish recipes. I also wish there were more seafood recipes.
However, I got this book for a friend who eats all foods, so she will likely love it.
This book has a lot of recipes that help the digestive system and clearly states the exceptions for those with other stomach problems and illnesses. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. The recipes gives a breakdown on how many calories, fat, carbs, fiber, sugar, sodium, protein, and potassium they contain. Which enables you to make an informed decision on what foods are best to have. This book is very well put together and to the point. It explains clearly what Gastroparesis is and the symptoms that arise from it. These recipes are designed to make you enjoy your meals by minimizing the symptoms of Gastroparesis.
The book only has 50 recipes and many of them are easy and quick to make. Most of the recipes are very different dishes so I wasn't that big of a fan. There are more cookbooks in this collection (The Gastroparesis Cookbook) that have more recipes and more ordinary dishes for someone new to try out.
