Kyla Spencer refuses to feel. Feelings are messy; they're painful; they hold you back. Due to a painful past and secrets she wants to stay buried she keeps everyone at arm's length. But then when she is abducted and presented as a gift to Tristan, a bored vampire prince who is destined to become a king, she has to face a few facts. Beyond facing that vampires are real Kyla has to face emotions that Tristan won't let her run from.

Tristan is a vampire with a ravenous but insatiable appetite. For ten years he hasn't once had his hunger sated. He feeds constantly, looking for satisfaction, and because his favourite way to feed is to feed during sex he goes through a lot of women. But then Kyla is brought to him as a gift to celebrate a promotion and from the second their eyes lock he knows there's something different about her. After he gets a taste of Kyla neither of them will ever be the same.

“Between the taste of you, the taste of your blood, and the way you look at me, I haven’t felt this… alive… in… maybe ever.”

Cliffhanger.
Books 2 & 3 avaiable.

Trigger warnings: Explicit sex scenes. Copious amounts of blood. Some dubious consent, an ending that could be troubling to those who are squeamish about blood. If you don't love vampire alpha males who are also sweet and swoony nymphomaniacs, maybe you should give this one a miss...

4 SMUT Stars

This is truly the kind of book that justifies my smut stars, folks.

So good.
So ridiculous.
So over the top.
So lacking in any actual redeeming literary qualities.
SO amazing.

I don't know how I'd never heard of this series before being that I love DD Prince's shifter series. So thanks to linelle for bringing it to my attention.

Like I said, this is just complete and utter smut trash. And I am nothing if no a smut trash panda. On to book two, obviously.

I tell ya, I have read a lot of nasty stuff in my reading adulthood and not to mention my early years but this actually comes pretty close to the top of the tops in "fucked up twisted shit" category and the book being a fantasy genre makes it more justified in being a "messy pile of some looney certifiable shit" and as shockingly as it sounds even to myself I liked it.

at one point I was thinking of doing this...

BUT then I thought "the fuck" I am a grown up here, I can read this inspite the gross part!
and I ain't giving no spoilers here...

but that one particular scene at the end was just worthy of these facial expressions
at first...

then...

and finally...I don't even wanna explain...

BUT being a curious weirdo masochist I have to see what happens next so after the first shock I am gonna see what the fuck will happen...

for more detailed version one should read the blurb very, very carefully.

You see, delicious-smelling Kyla Spencer, you were brought to me tonight as a gift. It’s a special night. Kinda like an anniversary and it’s also my birthday. And I just got some big news. So, there are a few reasons to celebrate.

I wasn’t expecting much and maybe that attributed to my positive reading experience. I’m curious why reviewers felt this book didn’t have any character growth? The entire story was how these characters learn to work together. Granted, most of it is against her will. Check those trigger warnings.

Vampire/human
Fabulous, character growth
Dark and disturbed
On page rape/non-con
Period blood
Somewhat annoying FMC

I’m doing things women who have been kidnapped just don’t do. Things I would never ever do if I was my usual self. I don’t get it. Try to understand this thing from my perspective. I got snatched out of my life and dropped in the middle of a horror movie. I have Stockholm syndrome, or something fucked up like that. I’m a prisoner, and I want to climb into a cocoon and hide from you. But, then you look at me and you touch me and I feel things I’ve never felt.

3,75 STARS!!!

sex, blood, sex, blood, sex, blood, sex, blood, sex, blood, sex, blood, sex, blood

While reading this book, I had a feeling that I am stuck in the episode of True blood. Because of Sookie's Kyla's tasteful blood, which made an addict of Bill Tristan.

Overall,

It was good read :) .

In a world where no means yes...

I was very excited about this book because I loved the Dominator by D.D Prince. But this book was so boring!! The sex got so repetative after a while and it was just full of and there was really nothing happening until the very end, and even that was such a dull climax. And at the end, when things start to get bad it was so weird and gross how

In the end I felt like nothing really happened, and the girl was still just his captive and no emotional progress was really made. I will not read the second Nectar book but i'm still going to read the next Dominator book!

The CLIFFY!! Gah!!!! I need more of Tristan- swoony and sexy!

A sexy vampire H who is obsessed by his human h and only wants her? I couldn’t read this fast enough!!! I totally put my family and responsibilities on the back burner!

Kyla is 24 and gets abducted one day when she’s at work. She gets taken to a sexy as f/handsome vampire (Tristan) who needs to feed- plus, it’s his bday and she’s his bday present. The problem- she isn’t easily manipulated like a normal human. In fact, he realizes that she’s different and wants to keep her, and he can’t figure out why.

Kyla grew up in the foster system since she was orphaned when she was 4 and has always been independent. She resists Tristan left and right and she doesn’t succumb to his charms like his usual “meals” do, which only turns him on even more since he’s been bored by the lack of challenge in his life (he mentions he sometimes had to bed 3-4 women a night and was never satisfied); Kyla is all he needs now👏🏻.

There’s something about Kyla that isn’t normal. Although there’s tons of noncon/dubcon going on, Tristan’s able to break down Kyla’s walls to get her to trust him, and he in turns trusts her as well. She has a special type of blood, a nectar, and that’s something vampires covet, which means she’s valuable and desirable to all; Tristan must protect her and keep her safe, even if she doesn’t want him to.

The chemistry is so damn SPICY 🥵🔥. Kyla can try resisting him all she wants, but when they’re connection is THAT intense, that DEEP, that PRIMAL, that VISCERAL, nothing’s going to stop Tristan from having her 🔥🥵😅. So he’s a little forceful and persuasive with her 😅she always ends up enjoying it because of the soul-deep connection between them💅. It is 🥵🔥HOOOOOOT😅💦.

This is a vampire novel- we get some delicious biting/marking, breath play, OBVIOUSLY we get blood play, a j/p H who’s protective and very persuasive, who enjoys having her as his favorite meal in MANY ways, who smells like different desserts to the h, and who’s always willing to catch her/bring her back even if he has to… restrain her (or chain her lol)- all for her safety of course, but above all- he’s sooo SWOOOOONY!! 🥰❤️ even when he’s separated from her a few days, he doesn’t even think about being with ow or drinking their blood 🥰❤️. And he’s ALWAYS thinking about her feelings and her insecurities 🥺❤️ I just love him!

I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!

⚠️ safety squad ⚠️
-noncon/dubcon (including when the H gives her a bc shot)
-no cheating/omd/sharing
-mild one-sided owd- his ex calls the H, but he’s short with her and doesn’t wanna see her. OW shows up at the event they’re at, but the H is all about the h. OW keeps calling but the h has the H’s phone so they never talk
-blood play/breath play
-the H mentions he used to sleep with many OW before the h, but he only wants the h now, even turns away ow one of his men brought him

This was really frustrating. I barely even got through the end. There was just something off about the writing that I ended up skipping some scenes. The book was almost 300+ pages long and I was practically bored throughout. Sorry, Ms. D.D. Prince but I'm in the minority here!

I couldn't connect with any of the characters. This just wasn't for me. However, I will be anticipating for book 2. I hope this series gets better and I wish Tristan would have his POV in the next book.

PS. Please heed the author's warning before you dive into this book. Contains some scenes of rape and lots of biting-in-the-neck, i-need-to-drink-your-blood scenarios. No cheating and no sex with OW involved.

TW: RAPE

I don't understand the positive reviews for this book because it's absolutely appalling. The hero, Tristan, is downright abusing the heroine; both emotionally and physically, has no regards for her feelings and raped her over and over again when she repeatedly said no. It's not sexy and it's definitely not erotic at all.

I literally feel like throwing up.

Reread - still pretty hot.

Love this hero. He just does whatever he wants and seems a little surprised when the h isn’t happy. He’s oddly sweet and earnest at the same time. He’s possessive almost immediately.

The h is strong, and like you’d expect, tries to run from her rapacious vampire lover. I got a little tired of the running. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This book could probably have been 1/3 of the length which is why it loses a star.

Ends in a cliffy.

⚠️SAFETY SQUAD SPOILERS⚠️

- no cheating or sharing
- a tiny bit of OW drama - he has an ex who keeps calling and her name keeps popping up. She makes a short appearance at the end, but nothing significant
- No OM drama
- dubcon/noncon - the h was kidnapped and brought to the H’s mansion. She’s basically a captive. She tells the H “no” repeatedly but he ignores her. She absolutely has a good time, but she definitely is not fully consenting.
- rough sex
- at the end of the book, the H goes completely feral over the H’s menstral blood. 🥴
- the h is not a virgin but hasn’t had sex in a while
- the H is an insatiable vampire and had random women brought to him multiple times a day before he meets the h
- the H gives the h a birth control shot without her consent

Nothing about this was new or original. The vampire Tristan kidnapped a girl, so he could drink her blood. She's special and can't be glamoured, so he can't let her go. Kyla was TSTL. She tried to escape every chance she got instead of waiting for the opportune moment to escape. Her blood was unique, and Tristan couldn't resist her. Next thing you know it's love via magical bond. I've read too many stories way too similar to this. This was darker than the average PNR, but it's not enough to make me want to keep reading.

From the first bite and f..k until the last i was was "sucked" into this story of sex, kidnapping, hope, trust and yes more sex.
Tristan and Kyla are a match made in ... Everything.
Tristan... Tristan... Tristan... Mmmmmm
I love that they only have each other to depend on and to fight for, and what a fight. The journey both of them embark on is so hopeful and sweet but so dangerous.
Can you say CLIFFHANGER !!!!
Although not usually my genre I freaking loved this book and I
Seriously can't wait for the next instalment

Dark romance between a Vampire H and a h who is a survivor.

I didn't like H much, he was deceptively charming, lacked empathy almost to a sociopathic level, was highly self-absorbed/selfish, lacked any true friends. In his previous life he was the golden boy/manho/chef. In this current life he is vampire royalty, he hypnotised women, slept with/drank from them and erased their memories - sometimes as much as 3/4 women a day, maybe at the same time. He lives a hedonistic life, but also works hard at a vampire led conglomerate till he falls for h, now she is all he thinks about.

h is his kidnap victim who H forces sexually(dub-con plus he feeds from her); he makes h addicted to him and h gets withdrawals if H doesn't feed from her. h almost dies several times at H's hands, but H is slowly able to sense h's feelings and that makes him more empathetic and he falls in love with h.

When H is nice to h , he is really nice, so h starts falling for him, but she is not there yet to say ILY, she is smart and when things get bad, she escapes - yes there is a cliffie. I'm looking forward to bk2 only bcos of h, she is spunky, even if a bit irritating.

Author needs to edit some inner dialogue/thinking of h, there is too much and too repetitive.

Also triggers - lots of biting and feeding and draining h and blood all over bedsheets - a bit gory, this book is not for people who can't handle that stuff. In most of the book, H was really obsessed about h, so I liked that. However that didn't stop him from being rough with her when the "monster" escaped from his control, and those were the dark bits.

An overall 3 stars!

01/19/17 - Rereading this one.

01/05/16 -I started this one thinking I was going to DNF it, but it was late at night and I did not feel like searching for a new book to read on my Kindle so I continued and ended up liking it. Very surprised by this.
First the food references went a little overboard and it took me a while to get used to it.

There are a few trigger warnings in this book. Some things may be hard to swallow and others...well I don't know how to explain them without giving it away.

The hero, Tristan, is a vampire. He has his friends kidnap Kyla and bring her to him as a present. A present to feed off of. Kyla's parents died when she was 4 and she was sent to foster homes. Kyla does not feel. She has never loved. When Kyla is brought to Tristan she tries to fight him off, but he is a vampire and she is only a human so it impossible and things happen. However, there are a few twists in the story. At first, I was not sure if I was liking the story simply because I was so desperate for a good read. Nonetheless, I enjoyed how everything unfolded and the suspense kept me reading.

I love that the story was written in one POV, Kyla's, but we got a little of Tristan's POV. I also loved it had a cliffy. Off to read book 2.

I feel the need to specify how much of this I read because I also have to rate it. I honestly only made it this far because I’m in a vampire mood and heard there was some feral blood shenanigans but apparently that’s not until the very end and I don’t have another 100 pages or an hour in me.

For starters, this book is terribly written. Half edited, weird wording, and less than half baked characters. It almost feels like this was an early draft before any decisions were made about who the characters were because Tristian has 4 different personalities and Kyla is just a vessel of anger, bad decisions, and abandonment issues. Too much telling instead of showing, too much inner monologue droning, too little of anything but the two characters in a room fighting or f*cking.

I won’t even touch the “dub-con” because other reviewers have said plenty.

Disappointing because I really like the premise but it needs a LOT to be worth reading.

Cavity causing...

4.5 stars. Interesting spin... Tristan, the vampire, didn't sparkle but his scent and kisses constantly changed to different dessert scents. Strange and, after a while, a little annoying. If you can get past the incessant confection references, it's actually a pretty good paranormal story. Kyla apparently has something very special in her blood and while Tristen works to unlock the mystery, he also has to keep her safe. Unfortunately, he may also be a danger to her... I'm glad the blurb warned about the cliffhanger; it's a doozy and now I'm wishing I'd have waited. I really enjoyed it; the only reason this lost half a star from me was because the heroine constantly went back and forth-"I should run, no wait I love him, I should run" etc. I don't mind a little inner turmoil but enough is enough.

I loved this story from the beginning until the huge cliffhanger. Hott Vampire who refused to take no for an answer. The angry sex scene was outstanding. This book had a great plot. The writing was done very well. I didn't think DD Prince's books got any better than The Dominator. I'm so glad I didn't pass this book up because all the non consent hotness going on in this read was engaging and delicious. Heroine got a little annoying for a sec but nothing that would take away from the story.

I was glad I had book 2 sitting on my kindle or I would have been pissed with that cliffhanger.

Sometimes you discover a writer from the first book that she writes and you follow her from there on, sometimes you discover a writer later on and then you have many books of hers to discover, new and old ones. This was the case with this writer, DD Prince. I discovered her through her book Detour (one of my favourite MC book and MC series!) and since then I have read almost all of her books except her vampire trilogy ‘Nectar’ that she wrote at the beginning of her writing career. And after reading a lot of sweet stories the last few weeks, I was in the mood for something darker so I decided to read this book/trilogy.

This story is about Kyla Spencer, a human who is all alone in the world and who works very hard to build a better future for herself. But then one night, she is kidnapped outside of her workplace by two men. She wakes up in an unfamiliar bedroom where another stranger is watching her. A very handsome, alluring, arrogant, dominant stranger. During that night Kyla discovers that the man, whose name is Tristan, isn’t just a man. No, he’s a vampire! A vampire that doesn’t only want to have sex with her but he also wants to feed from her, by drinking her blood during sex! And that is the beginning of their story because once Tristan tastes her blood, he becomes obsessed with Kyla and her blood and he has no plans of letting her go. But Tristan may be a very dangerous vampire, the world where he lives in is even more dangerous. Can Tristan keep Kyla safe and can he convince her that they belong together?

I must say that it took me some time to really get into the story. I think that part of that was because for the last few weeks, I had read mostly sweet romance stories (and Nectar wasn’t sweet) and the other reason was because of the build-up of the story. Where other writers bombard you in the beginning of a new story with (sometimes too much) information and facts, here the opposite was the case. The vampire world was very slowly revealed to the reader (and also to the female main character Kyla) with a sentence here and there, very slowburn, so it took me some time to figure out the vampires and their world in this story. Because they felt a bit different than vampires in other stories that I have read. The vampires here didn’t have problems with sunlight, they didn’t need to sleep during the day, they could eat food and drink alcohol. They did have fangs (you can’t be a vampire without them), they were also strong, beautiful and moved very quickly and some also had other extra talents.

But where the story was slowburn the connection between Tristan and Kyla was the total opposite of that, it was very fastburn. Right, from the first bite Tristan knew that Kyla was special and he tried to convince her of that in very sexy ways. Tristan was a very possessive, intelligent, dominant alpha vampire but he also had a softer and sweeter side that he only showed to Kyla. You could really feel his struggle with those two sides inside him, the dangerous vampire side and the softer, emotional ‘human’ side and because of that I could forgive him many things (just like Kyla did). Kyla was also a very fascinating character. She was strong, hardworking, independent, sassy but she was also very guarded with her feelings. But the one thing that I really appreciated about her is that although she shared her opinions very clearly with Tristan and sometimes very heatedly, she also knew when to stop arguing/fighting, she wasn’t being difficult just to be difficult. No! She was a human woman kidnapped and held prisoner and was very conflicted about that and especially about her emotions for the sensual and sexy vampire who kept her in his bedroom. For me, she acted very humanly on her situation.

The connection between Tristan and Kyla was intense, sexual, deep and mysterious. The story was intense with steamy sex scenes where the dangerous vampire took what he wanted and needed from the human woman (sex and blood) but to me, it never really felt like rape. Because from the first sex scene you could already feel the connection between them. But I can understand if other readers think differently about it.

In the end, I enjoyed the story and I think it will not be a big surprise if I say that the story ended with a cliffhanger. But good news, the whole trilogy is already published so you can read the second book immediately after the first one.

3.5 stars - I liked this book but didn't love it. The hero is a jealous/possessive alpha vampire.
Trigger warning: dub-con/rape - (She says no.)

****Very minor spoilers in this review*****

At the beginning of the book, the heroine is delivered to the hero as a gift. He's instantly possessive, desires her greatly and is enthralled by her smell. She smells divine to him. Diii-viiiinne! He can't wait to f*ck her and won't take no for an answer. He doesn't care that she says no because she is a human after all. She's there for him to drink and screw. (That's how the vamps see humans.) When he goes down on her, her "essence" tastes exquisite. He's absolutely ravenous for her. As you can imagine, the sex happens right away and it's pretty dang steamy. The heroine resists the hero is brilliant at pleasuring her and it feels so dang good to her that she's helpless to do anything else but endure multiple orgasms. Poor girl! :P

Normally, the hero takes what he wants from women and then mesmerizes them to forget. Not so with the heroine. The heroine can't be mesmerized and the hero has no intention of letting her go. He wants to keep her. The heroine doesn't want to be kept by a vampire and so she tries to leave him. This happens multiple times. I do love this type of scenerio in books. I would've loved it more here if she had actually gotten away from him for a period of time rather than just failed attempts at escape. It would've added another layer to the story. As it was, book 1 was my least favorite due to how much time the h spent locked in the H's bedroom and how much time she slept. There wasn't a lot more happening in book 1 other than fantastic sex and those few escape attempts. Towards the end of Book 1, the direction of the story changed and it increased my interest greatly.

There were some minor editing issues and the book does end on a cliffy.

I love a good vampire/human story as much as the next gal but fuck no this was NOT IT!!
He RAPES her!! let me say that again... FUCKING RAPES HER! I will NEVER be ok with this. No matter how wet the heroine got, how many orgasms she got. She fucking said NO repeatedly! She even calls him a rapist and he says he’s FUCKING OK WITH BEING A RAPIST. He has not only raped her but also ALL the other women he has drugged and fed from.

FUCK YOU AUTHOR AND EVERYONE WHO THINKS THIS SHIT IS OK! ITS FUCKING RAPE WHEN A WOMAN SAYS NO REPEATEDLY AND THE PIECE OF SHIT DOESN’T STOP ASSAULTING HER.
