This delightfully acerbic memoir, by stand-up comic Becky Pedigo, describes the experiences of a nice girl from a small town who hits the road at 22 years old, with zero money in her pocket and even less of a clue about how the world worked (awesome game plan), only to endure every type of comedy hell gig and humiliation while struggling to be taken seriously in the business of funny. It also details Becky's dealings with addiction- someone else’s, not her. She shares stories about her dysfunctional friendship/working relationship with a fellow comedian who was hooked on prescription painkillers and insanity. She didn’t seem to like Pedigo all that much, but in spite of the drama, helped her find her confidence and voice as a comedian…which seemed totally unintentional.
