THE CURIOUS OBSERVER'S GUIDE TO SLIME MOLDS OF UC SANTA CRUZ AND BEYOND is both an accessible introduction to the biology of slime molds and an excellent practical guide to observing them in the wild, including insightful tips for slime mold photography. As the title suggests, this book features slime mold species commonly found in Santa Cruz, California, but many of these are cosmopolitan species found throughout the world; readers in other places may also find this a helpful beginner's guide to finding and identifying slime molds.
This is a really fun book with some AMAZINGLY COOL pictures in it. If you ever wanted to learn about really bizarre forms of life but have it written in a style which can best be described as the opposite of "stodgy old academic" this is the book for you. I've always said learning should be able to be entertaining and this book definitely fits that category.
