My coronation day was supposed to be the most magical day of my life. After all, I've been waiting my entire life to become queen. There's no one better suited to rule over Draco Patriam - Dragon Country - than me. If you talk to my twin sister, you'll hear a different story. This time, Ruby has taken things too far. She's used magic to keep me out of the magical borders that surround our home. And she's separated me from my all four of them. Hot, sexy, and completely enamored with my dragon-shifter mates are everything a girl could ever want, and I can't get to them because of my evil twin. Now the clock is ticking. I've got one year to find a way inside the magical borders that surround the castle and save my mates. Otherwise, we'll be separated for all eternity, Ruby will rule the dragon world, and me? I'll be stuck in the human realm. I can't let that happen.

A delayed review for a fun and quick read by a new-to-me author. I am going to have to get to know more of her work as I completely enjoyed this one.

I've never read dragon shifters before, so this was a new one for me. It read like a modern fairy-tale - modern language, awareness of our modern world, but set in a fantasy land with castles and age-old traditions that dictate each queen will have four dragon mates. I liked how Stern fleshed out the world and the fantasy elements. The love scenes were both super sexy and very tender, which is a hard balance to strike. There were even a few good twists to the story.

I'd suggest to those new to or interested in shifter stories as well as those branching from YA/Teen into more romance driven stories.

Sophie Stern has written a very heartfelt 5-star book that is about Sapphire and her mates and the betrayal of a trusted maidservant. Sapphire is to be Queen but she was not expecting to be Queen at this time. Her mother was Queen but a few weeks ago she had an accident and was killed. Now it is the day of Sapphire's coronation and wedding to her 4 dragon mates Garnet, Emerald, Moonstone, and Chrysoberyl. Alexandra is Sapphire's maidservant and she comes to help her get ready for the day. She knows something is wrong as soon as Alexandra opens the doors for the Great Hall and sees her twin sister Ruby sitting on the Throne with her mates around her. Sapphire asks Alexandra what is going on and she is told that she will never be Queen and she will never see her mates again. Sapphire knows there is a way out of the Great Hall and as soon as she can Sapphire runs and gets away. She has been gone 360 days and only has 5 days left to save her mates and herself. She finds the one person who might be able to help her. Kyle is a Wizzard and her last hope to get back home. Kyle tells her that things are not the same as they were when she left. Kyle gives her a potion that will let her change into an animal and walk through the magical border but she will only have 2 hrs to do what she needs to do before she changes back. She finds her mates and they go through with the mating bond and their strength comes back to them. They need to get away and find a place to hide for the night. Emerald takes them all to his father's getaway place and they spend the night getting to know each other again. Sapphire and her mates make their way to the castle to confront Alexandra, Ruby and her mates. Sapphire knows of a way to get into the castle but as she is looking for the way in some guards come upon them and her mates take care of them. Now they are under the Great Hall and they can hear Ruby talking to Alexandra and it is not good. All of a sudden Alexandra yells for Sapphire to come out from where she is. Sapphire goes to Alexandra and they begin to fight, her mates are fighting with Ruby's mates. As Sapphire and Alexandra are fighting Ruby is moving closer to Alexandra. Sapphire can't let Alexandra know about Ruby so she yells that one of Ruby's mates is in on things with Alexandra and to get him. This gives Ruby the time to get Alexandra.
This was a wonderful book to read and I would recommend it to anyone.

Confusing at First, with Some Cursing

I found this book confusing at first. The way it started, it wasn't clear that it was a flash forward. I thought I had perhaps come in at the middle of a series. There was a bit of an information dump at the beginning, which I never like. Even though this is fantasy, I don't quite understand how the bloodless coup could have happened without anyone knowing or attempting to prevent it. It doesn't make sense. What also makes little sense is the type of language used. While I don't necessarily expect fantasy to have super-heightened language, I don't expect it to have what sounds to be too modern language either. I also didn't appreciate the profanity in the book. Fantasy rarely has the level of profanity as is in this book, so I wasn't expecting it. I don't like profanity in books at all and am certainly more bothered by it if I'm not warned or don't expect it based on genre. I also thought that the heroine acted just bizarre at times. Because of these issues, I didn't really enjoy the book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Well this was a pretty good book with a good story. It has tragedy, betrayal and redemption. I loved Sapphire's story because it was different in some ways. She Is getting ready to take her place as Queen of her realm when she is betrayed. She has to figure out how to help her people and her four mates. Her mates Chryso, Emerald, Garnet and Moon are put to sleep. She has to figure out what is going on. What will she do? Can she save her mates and people? So much happens in a year and she is ready to go back to her home and take what is hers. There is a steamy moment with her and her mates and that was good. However, the one thing that I do wish was that she was a bit stronger magically. Also more about her time in the human realm. Other than that it was a good story.

ONE REMARKABLE ADVENTURE!!!
Engaging! Sophie brings all the heat and magic with this mind blowing, prize winning, block busting bombshell, blasting this baby wide open. Doling out incredibly, well rounded scenario's so intense you feel the pulse racing, electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. Bracing the drama, intrigue, tension, danger and suspense soars, keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Add turmoil and distress along with perplexing situations, propels this gem into a tailspin with staggering results. Jumping hoops, hurdling the trials and tribulations, along with sharp twists, sleek turns and thin lines, testing our characters in ways they never anticipated. Assimilating the ups and downs, weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web until everything else ceases to exist. The attraction and chemistry is sizzling and palpable. The characters are realistic, original, strong and solid, with qualities and traits that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so graphically detailed to give you a full understanding and realism that flows smoothly as they play off one another. Remarkable job Sophie, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.

This is a great shifter story and I am not a huge fan of the shifter novel. This was about sisters Sapphire and Ruby. Sapphire was about to take the throne after their mother died. Ruby trapped Sapphire's mates Garnet, Emerald, Moonstone, and Chrysoberyl. Sapphire has a year to rectify the situation or she will be trapped in the human world and away from her mates. The story was well written and very entertaining. I am not a fan of the shifter book. I am really liking Sophie Stern.

Sapphire is getting ready to take the throne as Queen, when she is betrayed by her sister Ruby. Sapphire’s mates, Garnet, Emerald, Moonstone, and Chrysoberyl, are trapped and she escaped to the human world. Sapphire has only a year to get back to her realm, save her country, and free her mates or they will die. This is a great read, it’s well written, with realistic characters, filled with drama, intrigue, and suspense.

This was a really good short read. We get to meet Sapphire who is about to become queen when things start to go wrong. With her mates locked away from her the only thing she can do is run and hope to come back to rescue them.
From here we see her go through many turns to find her way back, and take out the bad that's turned her kingdom into a horrible place to live. To then bring the book to a sweet ending. So with a little heat and four hot dragon men what else could you want
