Dancing With Dandelions: The Beginning of Us

Rate this book
With a beach-front fixer-upper Tess Cooper recently purchased in Panacea on the Gulf Coast of Florida, she cuts the apron strings from Butterball and Gabs. The life she desires for herself and Paisley, her twelve-year-old daughter with Down Syndrome, is within her grasp. She can taste the independence. Life should be smooth sailing, but when is Tess’s life ever easy?

In addition to picking paint colors for her home and Paisley competing in the Special Olympics, her relationship with Aaron McMasters is changing. Tess thought their platonic relationship was perfect, as long as she side-stepped his hints at wanting more. Why mess up a good thing? Then his ex-wife came to town. Aaron’s easy-going nature becomes edgy, short tempered, and his always dependable, yet annoying flirting, has stopped.

Tess focuses on making a new home for Paisley and herself and helps plan Butterball’s upcoming nuptials at Wakulla Springs. Weddings are beautiful, so why are the tears on Tess’s cheek not tears of joy? Should she tell Aaron how she feels or will he cast her aside and send her drifting in the wind like dandelion seeds?

THE WEIGHT OF PAISLEY on my hip caused my high heels to sink slowly in the soft, Alabama red clay......I held my breath as they lowered my dad's casket into his new home...everyone left, but their whispers lingered...whispers of what would become of my daughter Paisley and me....The sting of their words: out of wedlock, orphan, retarded, unemployed, uneducated, high school dropout...While driving through the iron-gated entrance of Goodbread Memory Gardens.....rearview and side mirrors out of place, don't look back. This was going to be a journey of epic proportions.....

Zelle Andrews’ first endeavor at publishing was at the age of twelve. A short poem she wrote in middle school was selected to be published in the Tallahassee Democrat. She later found the yellowed newspaper clipping that her mother saved, when she was in the process of writing her novel.
Paisley Memories started out as an idea that Zelle wrote on a scrap piece of paper. Just notes at first, then it became a couple of chapters. It was her first Tallahassee Writers Association Conference that made her take her writing serious.
Zelle Andrews lives near the Florida coast with her family. She is a member of Tallahassee Writers Association. Paisley Memories is her debut novel.

Zelle Andrews made me fall in love with the Paisley series all over again with Dancing with Dandelions. Little Paisley just melted my heart, I adore that sweet girl so much.

And what a great journey that Tess and Aaron go on, especially with a wonderful ending. Zelle’s books are just inspiring, credible, and not to be missed.

Dancing With Dandelions is the second book in the series by Zelle Andrews, and is even more enchanting than Book I, Paisley Memories.

Grab a glass of sweet tea and take a journey with Tess, Paisley and their friends. You'll be glad you did!

Dancing with Dandelions is even better than Zelle's first book, Paisley Memories. I really loved the beach scenes and the humor that Butterball and Gabs add to the storyline. One of my favorite lines is from the scene when Butterball is trying on dresses and says that the Kardasians made big booties stylish, now if someone would just make big bellies popular she would be perfect! "Curvy and confident is the new sexy." I actually laughed out loud at several parts and wondered if Zelle had let her humor come through a little stronger in this book.
I can not wait for the third in the series as these are such pleasant reads and I find them satisfying and relaxing.
