The Sister Code was birthed from a need to share a time-honored sacred Sisterly code with Sisters everywhere. Prior to its publication, the Sister code was only shared secretly amongst Sisters. It was a whisper here, a giggle there, but never fully documented for fear that Bros would discover all of our secrets and use them against us. After years of field research, I can safely say that Bros won’t read these codes... There are always two sides to a story: History and, the ever more accurate, Sistory that has long been forgotten and ignored. However, The Sister Code would not have been possible without The Bro Code (History) by Barney Stinson and Matt Khun, and my Bro, Kit Tang, who introduced me to The Bro Code. I wrote The Sister Code as a parody of The Bro Code because I felt that it was only fair for Sisters to have a code of their own. One that would share their side of the story and that would prepare them for life’s challenges, which mostly involve Bros. As a parody, the articles in The Sister Code are in some cases based on articles in The Bro Code, but with a Sister’s spin on them. In all cases, the articles are codes for Sisters to live by. Codes inspired not only by my own real-life experiences, but also those of my Sisters and our Sister ancestors. So, now after ten years of waiting for the right time to share these codes with the world, I have decided to publish them, most fittingly, in the year of the Sister: 2018. It is with my pleasure that I present The Sister Code.
Lizabeth A. Scott, MEd, CH has spent the majority of her career as an educator. She started as a high school English teacher, and is currently working as both a middle/high school library media specialist and a graduate professor. She has 17 years experience in public schools: 15 years as a full time educator. After spending 17 years in 8 different school districts, Lizabeth has experienced enough to decide that she would like to give educators a platform to tell their stories anonymously: without fear of retribution. Her new teacher tell-all series will provide readers with insights into what’s really happening behind the closed doors of “public” schools. However, Lizabeth is a humor writer, and the series is meant to be light-hearted, shocking, and comical. It will not be collections of rants! Simply put, “the teacher’s tell-all series is a cocktail (or two) at happy hour for the teacher’s soul.”
Beyond teaching, Scott is a licensed Holistic Consulting Hypnotist. She has a masters in both Library Media and Psychological Studies. She is also working on a children's book series, under a pen name, that will help children build their self-esteem by recognizing their gifts and special qualities.
Thus far, Lizabeth has been able to separate the different sides of her personality and her interests enough to write a variety of works. Lizabeth has also published The Sister Code: a parody of The Bro Code by Barney Stinson and Matt Khun. As the author of The Sister Code, Lizabeth is more than just the female version of Barney Stinson, she is a new and improved Sister version! She is a multitalented, multifaceted individual, some might say a Jill-of-all-trades. In her youth, she was a Girl Scout, a member of 4-H, and a state finalist for Miss Preteen Massachusetts. Lizzie received trophies for dance and softball, ribbons for field day activities, and honorable mention for a poem. She described herself as a real tomboy princess who even enjoyed karate until a Bro sweat on her foot. In high school, she was voted most likely to make you laugh and her classmates thought that she would have a career as a stand-up comedian. Today, Lizzie is a library media specialist, a holistic hypnotist, a crazy cat lady, and (according to her online dating profile) a hopeless romantic. As a supreme Sister, Lizzie has decided to pursue her lifelong dream of being a Sister leader, life coach, activist, and philanthropist. Her credentials go beyond simply her various degrees and certifications. She is well versed in Sisterhood, code, and advocacy. It is her hope that one day, with the help of this book, Sisters will bring peace to the world.
