A Little of Chantelle Rose is unique an interesting debut novel by Cristina Hodgson. I definitely want to read more from this author. This was second contemporary I read where main characters were actors and got a glimpse of movie industry.
The book was about Chantelle Rose, discovering her life, spreading her wing who wants to live and earn, finding a true love of her life that she had witnessed. And with her lady luck she found two. The story was about love, friendship, betrayal, trust, fame, running after dream and ‘Love Triangle’.
Characters
As this book was character driven, it was hard to separate characters from what I liked or didn’t. Each character showed their positive and negative sides that I wanted to share, so this part will be little longer than rest of the review.
Chantelle was so funny, feisty, loud-mouthed (mostly in her head), hysterical at points, but truthful to herself. I have mixed feeling for her actions.
Ok bad one- She was so much after money that she even lost practicality of things. – Signing contract that she didn’t even know much about and then feeling all jittery. Then blaming others for plotting everything. (Seriously girl!!) She was giving lot of benefits of doubt to everyone.
Good one- She overreacted at tricky points, but for this I’m giving her benefit of doubt. 😉 I felt empathetic for her, the situations she was in and all her suffering, fearing, confusing emotions was so contagious. Development was good. She had something unique about her. I admired her with all her flaws. No, I’m not in love with her, but she would be a nice company.
Both boys, Lionel and Robbie, had trouble in expressing their true feelings and made everything so unpredictable and confusing. Honestly, I couldn’t figure out who was right or wrong till the end. I assumed everything wrong about them. But one thing do agree from description, they were sexy as hell.
Lionel was all confidant, charming prince, workaholic, passionate, and so adorable. His love for Chantelle made me smile like teenage in the book. First half loved him totally. Second half confused me. I will give a plus point to Lionel for all good timing, and that’s why I might be partial with him. Bad one- How he approached Chantelle at first, for the main reason.
Robbie was true countryman, shy, and conservative. He was most genuine person in the book. His ‘know-me’ part came in second half of the book. So, I actually agreed to what Chantelle thought about him in whole book. Bad one- I can’t elaborate as it might give away lot, but his timing with her was bad, to be specific after attack. I don’t approve his action. Here you lost me dude.
What I liked-
Good things I mentioned about characters. No character was perfect in this book they had flaws, lot sometimes, but that is what made them realistic. They realized their mistakes and they understood other’s feeling at the end and that was beautiful thing in the book.
Best thing of the book- Chantelle’s witty monologues were hilarious. I was literally laughing at some point. Damn! I loved her voice in this book. Funniest events were her encounter with Vivien in later half of the book, loo on flight, security check by custom officers, and many more I can go on and on about those events. She won my heart for this side of hers.
Friendship between Chantelle and Tammy. I loved Chantelle’s childhood with her. I liked Tammy’s parents, though they were not in the book until climax, they still showed their presence through Tammy, for her upbringing and accepting her friends. I loved character’s life story specifically about their parents.
It was ironic that Chantelle had feelings for both of them. That made story ‘Extra’ melodramatic, which looked implausible but honestly I enjoyed it, it made me curious to see whom she will choose and why. Sex scenes were okay, glad author left ‘too much extra’ from descriptions. Emotions in the book were so raw and real. It made me agitated from very beginning because that tagline on the cover, I was expecting something real bad will happen and also restless because of second half, I couldn’t just put down the book, I wanted to reach the end as fast as I can.
There were more turning point in the book than thriller/mystery book. I was feeling dizzy at the end with all the shocks of twists. Best twist was that stalker one, I can’t believe person who was after all those terror inducing threats.
Shell-shocked end of the book. It left me hanging. Sequel? I wish. 🙂 Though it was jaw-dropping, I kind of happy with the ending.
I loved epilogue, the word of wisdom Chantelle shared for all characters in the book.
Why not full stars-
Too much drama which was impossible in real life. Main thing was, by the time I reached to the revelation of stalker, I was so impatient and because of that weary. I felt like, I just want to turn pages and see who was behind all the mess. It took tremendous amount of energy not to do that or skim the pages. And the reason behind all that person gave, I was like, You Kidding Me!!
Few things about the characters that I didn’t like but I don’t judge them in the end.
Overall, interesting, different, keep you on the edge (yeah that happens in contemporary too), dramatic plot and ending, mountain ride pace. If you’re fan of contemporary, I definitely recommend this book.

When I first received this book to review I was intrigued by the blurb! This story captures the fleeting happiness of the world of glitz and glamour and the darker side of fame and fortune.
In addition to this seductive plot, it’s the characters that did it for me. Meet Chantelle, a modern-day Cinderella (only with 2 princes instead of one 😉) She is naïve and curious, but she’s also a feisty female who knows her value. Her view of the world is one that many know all too well- she wants MORE. Unhappy in her day-to-day life, she wants a change. So when the opportunity of a lifetime comes about, she jumps at the chance of success. Chantelle is an incredibly likeable character and I warmed to her charm early on in the story. The other thing I admire about Chantelle is that she’s clearly intelligent. I love the fact that she always tries her best and works hard at everything she does. But not everything is as simple as it seems… The saucier aspects of this novel become prominent in the story as Chantelle gets herself into a love triangle which only adds to the tension of the novel!
In addition to the romance part of the plot, it was the mystery side that really gripped me. There are a lot of twists and turns in this rags-to-riches tale and I was shocked to say the least! (I warn you, the ending is a real OMG moment!). The theme of travel is also key to this story- the contrast of rural England to the Hollywood hills really evokes the adventure side of the story. What could be hiding under all that glitter and gold I wonder…
Humour is another running theme. I enjoyed Chantelle’s wit and quick thinking. Because I would class this book as multi-genre (both mystery and chick-lit) the comical side of things really pulls the two genres together (and adds light relief to the thrilling drama!).
Crime meets classy, love meets whodunnit, Chantelle meets her fortune. Full of life-changing choices, unforgettable characters, and dazzling places, with the umbrella theme of a mystery to solve, this story has it all.
Recommendation
This fabulously fun-filled book is just what you need if you’ve been in a reading slump! I guarantee A little of Chantelle Rose will keep you guessing all the way through! For fans of crime who want a little more depth, or for chick-lit fanatics who want a bit more drama, this book is perfect for you. I could have easily read this book anywhere… and I did! On the train, on the sofa, even in the pouring rain waiting for the bus! I only wish I had read it whilst sunbathing under the glamorous Hollywood sun… but rainy England isn’t bad either I guess 😉.

How I love a book that can make me giggle and this one surely did that. Chantelle Rose, at 24, is just about scrapping by in her tiny London bedsit but she has found a way that she can make a bob or two just by being an extra on a film shoot. Now Chantelle is eye candy, there is not doubt about that and soon she is up graded in the film to a more prominent role. Well you can’t knock her for feeling rather pleased with herself especially when he name is going to appear in the credits.
Chantelle finds herself at the cinema with her new bloke to watch the film she briefly appeared in , unfortunately Chantelle has a little bit more exposure in the film than what she thought she was going to get which leaves not much to the imagination of the cinema goers around them. This all leads to the swift exit of the new bloke and an offer in another film that can’t really be turned down even if it goes against everything she believes in.
This story takes on a totally different road now as Chantelle heads off into a more glamourous life, rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywoods famous heart throbs, one in particular. There is romance coming from more than one direction and some very disturbing mail. Is this new life style really what Chantelle wants and needs?
This book gave me laughs, romance and a mystery to solve so plenty to keep any reader engaged. Chantelle was an easy character to get to know and I liked how the author remoulded some of her character but not all of it as her life style changed. Some of the characters though I read with gritted teeth as I wanted to give one particular bloke a mirror so he could just talk to himself in a corner to talk to it, he really did like himself! There was a good build up on tension about the mysterious and quite nasty letters that kept appearing which I did just pip the reveal by deducting who this person was. Oh that was a good feeling.
I hope the author is working on a follow up, there is still so much I want to know.

I was provided an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
If I had to only use one word to describe this book, it would be “superficial”.
This is the story of Chantelle Rose, 24 years old, actress, living in South London. The story starts with Chantelle on set, as an extra in a gangster movie.
The rest of the story is a following of peripeties that barely made sense.
Starting with how, a few months later, Chantelle goes to the countryside with her best friend and finds herself falling in love with a cottage and some dude she talks to for approximately two seconds. That dude, Robbie, and his friend, Ray, then rescue the two damsels in distress when they find themselves stuck in mud. The four of them, then, make plans to all have lunch together the next day.
Only, Chantelle gets a phone call saying she’s been spotted in the gangster film and has to fly to LA asap, to participate in a film and that she’ll be paid one million dollars for.
After being flown (in first class) to LA, she spends three weeks exercising, and having a makeover without anyone telling her what her role in the movie is. (That alone, is astounding.)
Anyway, she gets to the movie set and learns that she is here to be the main actress’s body double in the nudity scenes. (I’m sorry, but first, no body double is paid one million dollars and then, you cannot be allowed on set without knowing what you’re gonna do, especially if there’s nudity involved…)
Now, the main actor is Lionel King and he is the spitting image of Robbie. Chantelle is so very shocked, especially since she says, while in the plane, that she fell in love with Robbie and can’t stop thinking/dreaming about him.
I’m gonna stop describing the plot, but let me tell you, it gets worse. All the relationships Chantelle forms are at the image of the one with Robbie, rushed and superficial, with no real depth. She obviously falls for Lionel after two days spent together and so on.
All the characters were unlikeable to me. I couldn’t stand Lionel, who, after talking to Chantelle for two minutes, starts calling her “babe”, “sweetie”, “honey” or even “princess”. I found it so patronizing, demeaning. Lionel, still, asks Chantelle if she trusts him when they just had a two minutes conversation, and she lets herself being blindfolded, handcuffed and led to an unknown location. I... just… no….
So, the two aren’t dating, they just make-out on set, cause that’s the job but Chantelle keeps saying how she fell for him, when they don’t even see each other outside of set, he too falls for her and offers her diamond earrings, a family heirloom, though they’re not together, they haven’t so much as kissed outside of set.
It was just so deeply unrealistic. Even putting the relationships aside, the movie industry does not work that way. You cannot be nominated for an Oscar a week after the end of the shooting, nor win the Oscar another week or two after. A movie needs many more steps after being shot... There, also, cannot be only 6 weeks between shooting a film and its sequel. I mean that’s pretty basic stuff to know or research. Just like the fact that the Oscar for Best Actor is given by the previous year Best Actress and not two people…
All the inaccuracies bothered me.
Finally, Chantelle, who I thought lacked depth. I couldn’t like her. She was both incredibly naïve (see Lionel leading her blindfolded and handcuffed) and paranoïd. It drove me mad. And that’s pretty much all I remember about her.
I’m gonna end this review with the three quotes that I HAD to write down while reading.
“I thought, gleefully, he loves me - regardless of my feral hair !”
“I just hoped that Robbie had the good sense and male firmness to ignore her.”
"Lionel handed me a drink. I had asked for something non-alcoholic, but I could smell Malibu in it. Lionel had obviously planned to get me pissed so he could try to seduce me. There was really no need."
I mean, I don’t think I need to add anything. I'm not even gonna discuss the ending that was appalling or the many many clichés.

Chantelle Rose, one of the characters is the narrator of the story. Chantelle Rose is a complex character described as having a self-deprecating sense of humor, moments of amnesia, insecurity, and doubts of her self worth. Chantelle becomes an extra of an extra in a movie that exposes more of her than she would like.
Chantelle lives in England, and has been working in a coffee shop. Chantelle and her friend Tammy take a drive, and discover a charming cottage that is for sale.They stop where they see a handsome man on a horse, Robbie, who is tending to the grounds. Chantelle and Tammy drive onand get stuck in the mud. Robbie passes by and helps them get the car out. Chantelle is attracted to Robbie's kindness, and imagines a life with him in the cottage.
After the movie is in theaters, a director approaches her and offers her one million dollars to be in a film. Chantelle is quite vague and naive, not realizing what her role will be. She travels to the United States and meets actor Lionel King, who seems to be a doppelganger to Robbie. Chantelle has decided that with the money from the movie, she will buy the cottage in England that reminds her of Robbie.
The setting of the story takes place in the United States where the filming is done, and in England. When Chantelle buys the cottage, she receives mysterious threatening letters. Who wants her to leave and why?
Cristina Hodgson describes her characters as complicated, complex, with different motivations. There are some strange characters with negative intentions, that could make them suspect. The author also describes characters who need materialistic wealth, and characters that are grounded and happy living a simple life.
I enjoyed and would recommend this story. The ending is left open, and I hope that the author will be writing a sequel where the loose ends are tied up. I look forward to reading one!

A Little of Chantelle Rose started out well with the heroine, Chantelle, and her best friend, Tammy, getting stuck in the mud and then both of them ending up muddy and encountering attractive men. This is the kind of antics that are the stuff of rom-coms. Funny, cute-meets with more romps to follow.
Unfortunately, A Little of Chantelle Rose suffers from a bit of an identity crisis. From rom-com, it decides to be a fairy tale, with the heroine flitting off to the States, falling in love with a Hollywood superstar (forgetting that she had become enchanted back in the UK), lazing on a yacht, being swept up in a glamorous lifestyle before having her heart semi-broken (momentarily) before flitting back to the UK and becoming embroiled in a tiny mystery.
Chantelle Rose is a plot driven-story, so there is little character-development, which would have been most welcome as Chantelle has a tendency to think a bit superficially and react impulsively. She just "does" without considering the outcome.
The writing tends to meander. Sometimes there is specificity which makes you feel like you're in the scene (there's one scene in which food is described with luscious detail) but most of the time the writing is general and of the more "tell" variety.
The ending has two of my least favorite occurrences, one of which is of the cliff-hanger-type, hoping that you'll fall in love enough with the story to want more. The second is a spoiler, which I'm not providing.
I wish the author had stuck with the story that seemed to be indicated from the opening: a rom-com romp with seemingly reliable Chantelle, her kooky best friend, Tammy, who has more money than sense, and the men who catch their eyes. No fairy tales, no mysteries, no jet-setting, just simple love and fun (some misunderstandings, because)...and some mud.

What a fun read! The thing I loved about this book was that it straddled two genres - chick-lit and mystery. I love reading a bit of romance but I also love the 'what's going to happen now' suspense! This was certainly a page turner with plenty of twists and turns.
Chantelle Rose is a great female lead - feisty, fun and likeable - I was really routing for her the whole way through.
The two male leads - Lionel and Robbie - provided a very interesting love triangle.
Added to this was the exciting backdrop of the acting world. A roller-coaster of a read! :)

Absolutely LOVED this book so much that I read it in a day. I don't do that often these days. Chantelle is my spirit animal....and I'll switch her asses any day. I NEED not want to know which man is the baby daddy. It killed me to have a semi-cliff at the end of the book. With Lionel off shooting a movie and Robbie waiting in England, Chantelle needs to get her fine booty moving on the DNA test. Please, please, pllleeease tell me the next book is coming out in a month! (Team Robbie, by the way).

Wow! I was gripped from the start by this fast-paced, laugh out loud story of Chantelle Rose and the unbelievable scrapes she manages to get herself into. Jump-off-the-page characters and a roller coaster ride from Kent to LA and... back again, with many a romantic twist and turn, make for a highly entertaining read.

Okay, I have really mixed feelings about this book, let's make that clear. Part of me really liked it and part of me just feels like the whole thing was all over the place.
Let's talk about the good parts first. I liked Chantelle although I had a few problems with her personality, more about that later in the parts I didn't like. She gave me the same vibes sometimes as Rebecca from the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella and that is one of my absolute favorite series, so it's a big plus point to the author. Her inside monologues were hilarious, not once did I laugh aloud on the bus or on my way home thinking about the book.
And now the parts I didn't like. Honestly, both of the guys annoyed me in this book and it's so weird because usually, the girl main characters annoy me. But in this book, both love interests managed to make me cringe. They both had the weirdest timing and Lionel was trying to be romantic, but he was the kind of guy I just avoid because he seems like the very ambitious type of guy, who only cares about himself and his career. He was the true film star kind of guy, in a bad way. But other than that I am sure he had true feelings for Chantelle, but I just don't think he is the type to be able to handle a real relationship. Robby, the other guy was pretty normal, nothing special, if I had to choose between the two guys I would choose Robby, but I don't get the reason why Chantelle just fell in love with him after talking to him one or two times at the beginning. I just need more reasons to even like the guy, except that he is sexy....
Yes, other than the things mentioned above, Chantelle was sometimes painfully naive. She "signed" a contraact she doesn't even know the details of, except the money she is going to get for the job in a movie and she is flying overseeas whitout knowing anything else about it. Who on earth does that?! I also feel like the character was lacking the depth. I feel like she was shallow, but I really hope maybe in the next book she will get some character development and more depth to her, maybe even become more mature. It would be awesome to see those things in the next book if there will be one.
The story had a really good pace, I was interested to keep reading, but I felt a like too many things were happening for a book this length. There was love-triangle, big revelations, a stalker, and the list goes on. I didn't have the time to process what happened because there was always something new happening. Just too much information. But other than that I enjoyed reading this book, because it was entertaining and funny, just what I needed to relax before the exam period.
I would recommend this book if you want an easy and funny read. But do expect some unrealistic things happen in this book because there is a lot of that.

I first heard about this book by reading an author interview on The Writing Greyhound, a fun book reviewing blog, and I picked up a copy during the next Amazon sale. A young woman gets cast as a film extra, and after an uncanny set of circumstances, she finds herself signing a million dollar contract with a producer and headed off to Hollywood! The blurb captivated me, and Cristina Hodgson’s absolutely hilarious and delightful tone carried me through the story.
During every page of the title character’s first-person account, I found myself actually laughing out loud. She was so awkwardly charming, and I absolutely loved her inner monologue. Besides the Hollywood scenes, the book takes place in England, and the main character is English, so I found the constant British slang utterly hysterical. Maybe for English readers, this book is normal, but from an American point of view, it’s funny and charming.
If you like humorous novels, told by a protagonist who doesn’t shy away from real details, like a deodorant stain on a dress, using an airplane bathroom, and the hazards of frizzy hair, grab a copy of A Little of Chantelle Rose. I got the kindle version because it was on sale, but I’m planning on buying a paperback copy so I can enjoy it and keep it on my bookshelf!

To add a little excitement to her boring life, Chantelle takes up an offer of becoming an extra in a seedy film. What that leads to is the offer of a lifetime, a million dollar contract in Hollywood. Chantelle takes up the offer unaware of her role and flies to America where she is put through a daily exercise regime as well as a complete beauty makeover. Again, Chantelle has no idea why, but it becomes clear when she is ushered to the film set for the first time.
What follows is slightly unnerving. The story is fast paced and takes you on a roller coaster as the story twists and turns from one page to another. Chantelle, who narrates the story is incredibly naive but so likeable and funny you forgive her for trusting too much. She starts out as a 'Calamity Jane' type character, always getting herself in embarrassing situations which make you laugh out loud. as the story progresses you begin to see another side to her character.
Lionel the heartthrob, shows great interest in Chantelle, but can he be trusted? Hate letters arrive when Chantelle returns to England, someone has a grudge but who?
The other characters in the book have depth and interesting personalities. As the mystery unravels you begin to suspect that one of Chantelle's friends is not what they seem. An air of mystery and suspense enters the storyline.
The book is completely surreal and pure escapism, best read whilst lying on a sandy beach with a cocktail to hand. Sit back, relax and let the story flow, it has romance, comedy, mystery, and intrigue. The plot is tightly written and you invest in the main character and share her journey, whilst being astounded at her endearing naivety.
The book leaves you wanting ' A Little More From Chantelle Rose' and a sequel will be very well received by all.

A Little of Chantelle Rose is a fun read, full of laughs and some mystery. Chantelle is just scraping through life at the start - working in a coffee shop and living in a little bedsit in London. She appears in a crime film as an extra but when it's released she gets a call from a Hollywood director asking her to appear in one of his films for a million dollars.
I loved the adventures of Chantelle and her friend Tammy as they go a road trip to Kent, discover a gorgeous little cottage and get Tammy's expensive Jag stuck in the mud. I was laughing along Chantelle and Tammy, I really felt like I was becoming their friend after their misadventures.
Chantelle goes on a wild ride from London to LA to Kent, falling for two guys, Robbie and Lionel. She becomes friends with Gabby who loves to go for a run at half 5 in the morning and she makes an enemy with Vivian who wants Lionel for herself.
Chantelle was a very lovable character, I really enjoyed reading about her, she was funny and she didn't know what she was doing. But Chantelle made it seem like this was okay. I loved how down to earth she was, she struggled when she first arrived in LA and I understood why but the more time she spent around the Hollywood crowd the more she seemed to fit in.
This was a really easy book to read, full of joy as well as some sadness in regards to Chantelle's family and a mystery to be solved. I loved the whole mystery, I thought I'd guessed what it was but I was wrong when all was revealed! I loved how this book didn't take itself seriously, it was the perfect book to read over a weekend, it was fun and it was very enjoyable.

A Little of Chantelle Rose starts out as a girl gets a lucky break and moves to Hollywood style book. It then get's a lot more intriguing with multiple mysteries. A book being unpredictable is a breath of fresh air recently.
I received the synopsis from Jenny at Neverland Blog Tours so long ago that when it came to reading this book I was going in blind. I thought it was going to be a romance book with added Hollywood glamour. Which as many of you know, doesn't sound like my normal reads. But, A Little of Chantelle Rose really brought me around in the mystery aspect in the middle of the book.
The characters are very stereotypical. Chantelle is a naive yet brash south London girl. Lionel is a Hollywood star. Gabby is an LA fitness kind of girl. Robbie is a countryside guy. But underneath this, they're all written as complex and complicated. They all have their own motives, interests and most of all differing relationships between each other.
The suspects for the 'mysterious' aspect are always justifiable, yet in the end I was able to guess who it really was. Which I love. Being able to solve the mystery is the best part of reading books with a mystery. At least it is for me. Anyone else?
I thought this was a standalone book, but the ending leaves a very big question. One the one hand, it's great as you get to choose what you think 'should' happen from your viewpoint. But on the other hand, I'm very fussy and I like to know everything. So the ending me sit up in a 'WHAT?' kind of way.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to the author Cristina, for not only asking me to read and review A little of Chantelle Rose, but also being so kind and patient with me in waiting for the review.
As I look at the front cover on my kindle, I see a lady who look's elegant and beautiful in her black hat, dress and gloves holding a single read rose. The red is carried on with the swirly writing of the title and normal font for the author's name; which really stands out against the darkness of the front cover.
The reader meet's Chantelle Rose, an actress who has to take job in films, that aren't quite what she envisaged doing. She lives in a pokey bed-sit in London, struggling to make ends meet. In a bid to make herself feel better, she takes her rich best friend; Tammy on a girls weekend in the Kent countryside. Traveling in style in Tammy's Jaguar, they get a bit lost looking for the hotel and come across the home of Chantelle's dreams; with rose's trailing around it! Even when Chantelle arrives at the desert set, she still find's it remarkably odd that she is give no information on her role, but now knows she will be working with a Hollywood heart-throb. But all is not what it seam's as the story goes on and to be honest with you readers I don't want to spoil the story for you! There are many twist's and unexpected turn's for Chantelle. Will she be able to carry out her role? Is she going to get her dream home? Is this role going to lose her of herself? Will she find love? And with who?
Oh my gosh dear readers, what a gripping book A little of Chantelle Rose is, I quite literally couldn't put this book down. Cristina writes with wit and so many twists and turns to keep you entertained till the very end. I adored Chantelle's character she was so intriguing and I also love her friendship with Tammy. I had so many lough out load moments while reading; meaning I would get weird glances from people in the room! (But I didn't care!!!) I really enjoyed all the mystery woven in to this story, it literally captivates you through out. I think it's pretty fear to say I bloody loved this book and urge you to read!!!!! All that's left for me to say is bring on book two, I need to read more about this character!!!!!!!!!

As I look at the front cover on my kindle, I see a lady who look's elegant and beautiful in her black hat, dress and gloves holding a single read rose. The red is carried on with the swirly writing of the title and normal font for the author's name; which really stands out against the darkness of the front cover.
The reader meet's Chantelle Rose, an actress who has to take job in films, that aren't quite what she envisaged doing. She lives in a pokey bed-sit in London, struggling to make ends meet. In a bid to make herself feel better, she takes her rich best friend; Tammy on a girls weekend in the Kent countryside. I really liked this book! The main character, Chantelle Rose, is a movie extra and it's not a job that's in any books I've read before which made this different and worth a read. The story is a little far-fetched but that's what books are for right? It's a perfect escapism story to relax with.
Chantelle Rose is living in a not so nice London flat with a low paid job she hates and desperate for money, which makes her relatable, then she gets a very lucky break and is flown off to California. She seems naive at the start of the book but endearing by the end. There are lots of colourful and complex characters, mistakes, and misunderstandings which keeps you reading. This isn't a straight forward girl meets boy and they live happily ever after novel. The (shock) ending is abrupt and teases possibility for a sequel. There's romance but also mystery and lots to keep you thinking and guessing.
There's something for everyone, a glamorous film set, a yacht and a red carpet with a Hollywood hunk and a cozy country cottage with a cute charming guy. Books that are described as a 'romantic comedy' are usually more romance and less comedy but A Little Of Chantelle Rose is definitely a comedy with so many funny moments! This is a great book to relax with on holiday in the sun or a rainy British Sunday afternoon.

I like this book, as this is a combination of romance, drama and mystery. Not too much, not too less but the gorgeous combination of the three. From the starting of the book, I was having a feeling that what's going to happen next. This book really engaged me from the beginning. I like the plot and the mind gobbling situation in which the lead character C. Rose to decide who can be her prince charming. Who is the person of her dream, the one?
The characters were good and I felt connected with them, no doubt about it. What I really like about this book was the way the author played with the set of words and wrote down the scenes. She really did an amazing job with keeping the mystery, the suspense. She lit the lamp and carried it throughout and that was really beautiful and good.
Like I said in the starting I didn't find any emotion much or less in the book. Cristina must have taken the elements of the book to the chemistry lab to create a perfect formula to write down the book. I would definitely like to recommend this book to all Drama-Romance-Mystery readers.

I absolutely loved this. I wasn't truly sure what to expect and I was thinking it was going to be an ideal holiday read. What I actually got was a real page turner that started out like a fairly romantic novel but developed into a very intricate mystery. I loved all the twists and turns. I hated (in a good way) that every time I thought I had figured out what was going to happen there was another twist. I found at times I just couldn't put it down. It has the reading ease of a romantic novel and is perfect to take on holiday, relax in the garden and curl up on a rainy day, but with the dark twists and mystery of thriller, I found it both gripping and curious.
The characters were well written with lots of depth. I found myself quite emotionally invested in Chantelle and how she would deal with each situation. I loved the variety of personalities and the ties that unravelled.
Huge thanks go out to TBC and to Cristina Hodgson for the opportunity to read this book. I'm looking forward to reading more from Cristina soon!

Cristina Hodgson has written a hilarious novel about a woman who stumbles through life by the seat of her pants. Chantelle Rose is a free spirit who "goes with flow", even if it's the wrong way! She leads an interesting life which takes her from London, to the British countryside and to Hollywood. She embarks on an unusual career that takes her to a place where she doesn't know she's going! This book is quirky, witty and downright hysterical! The characters are well-defined and fun to read. The storyline and ending is as twisted as a corkscrew and as enjoyable as a fine wine. There is some bad language but no sex scenes which I appreciate. Overall, a clean read.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it is cliffhanger.

An absolutely fantastic read. I loved the story and the characters. Chantelle was my favourite character.

Desperate for change, she becomes an extra in a seedy crime film. After all, what could possibly go wrong? In any event, she´ll earn enough to buy her dream home, set up her own business and never worry about money again. And what about love? Two men have won her heart: Robbie – sultry, silent, mysterious; and Lionel – Hollywood heart-throb, charm, wealth, adventure. But who can she trust? Who is bent on scaring her away, and why? Great story. Truly unpredictable in my opinion. Chantelle is awesome. Robbie and Lionel are neat. Gabby is delightful. My only complaint is that the story needs to continue. I am very much looking forward to said continuation.

I had fun reading this book. It had twists and turns, some I did see coming and some I didn't. Not sure what I thought of Chantelle Rose as a character, some traits were endearing, while others were a bit annoying.

chantelle rose is a modern day cinderella starting out just scraping by then gets discovered by hollywood, becomes wealthy but becomes torn between two men who are very similar.
This is a fast paced book that you must keep reading to see what happens next. At times funny, at times romantic with a mystery running through it.
I cant wait to read the next book to find out what happens.

I’m not quite sure what I was expecting from this book but you know how characters names can unwittingly form an impression in your mind? Well that! To me Chantelle sounds a bit trashy but add Rose and the name is elevated a little. (apologies to any readers called Chantelle)
This is an ideal beach read, allow yourself to drift away into a make believe world and take Chantelle as you find her. She is your average twenty something Londoner, crappy job, worse accommodation and in a rut. So when she gets a part as an extra in a movie her life takes on a different view.
There are a few main characters, Chantelle her gym bunny friend Tammy, a local ‘nice’ guy Robbie who she bumps into out in the country and Lionel.
Robbie is the knight in shining armour who comes to the girls rescue when Chantelle spots her dream house .. she would give her soul for the opportunity to buy and live there. So the extra in the crime movie opens doors even though it’s kinda seedy.
Eventually she gets the offer to be a nude body double in Hollywood and this is where you need to use your imagination. Lionel is the guy who catches her eye and he is very similar in several ways to Robbie .. can Chantelle cope with a love triangle?
There are some hilarious moments at the beginning and you certainly get an inkling for her feisty nature, as the book progresses it takes on a more sinister style and becomes a bit of a mystery.
While she isn’t someone I would particularly like to be friends with I did feel fairly attached to her by the end .. the conclusion means the book could go either way and I imagine there may be a sequel.
As I said at the start an ideal story to while away a day off and in that respect it’s entertaining. I would happily read more by this author, in fact I have Simply Anna on my Kindle.

A little of Chantelle Rose is a perfect holiday beach read. In fact, it's like a sunbeam within a book, it's filled with that feel good factor. It is extremely funny, there were moments when I really laughed out loud, much to my partners surprise!
Chantelle becomes a Hollywood star quite by accident. She works in a small coffee shop. An ex sends her a job ad to appear as an extra in a movie, Chantelle is game for anything and applies. 9 Months later she has totally forgotten about her phone call with the nice lady, who she later finds out is a man! until said lady rings her and offers her a part as an extra in a gangsta movie. This small bit part turns into a bit more than she ever suspected. Chantelle is offered a million dollar film contract and so the story begins.
Chantelle Rose definitely has the touch of Miss Congeniality about her, from her transformation from frizzy haired funny girl to svelte, sleek and coiffured Hollywood starlet funny girl! There is a lovely Bermuda love triangle between Chantelle, Robbie, English hunk resembling a diet coke ad model & very famous Lionel, Hollywood superstar.
Chantelle is a sparkling delightful character who I warmed to really quickly. All the characters are very relatable and their personalities develop throughout the plot.
The story has twists and unexpected turns which keeps you turning the pages hungry for more! As well as the story line being great the cover of the book is totally gorgeous and eye catching.
The finale of the story is definitely left open for a sequel which I personally can’t wait for as there are quite a few unanswered questions which will make for a fab part 2!

When I first started this book I really wasn't sure what direction the plot was going to take. I guess I was just swept away into this crazy world just like Chantelle was. I think it's safe to say that the story is a little on the far fetched side but I think I had already guessed it would be after reading the blurb. To be honest I just sat back and enjoyed the way Chantelle's life suddenly changed and got more complicated. There were a few funny situations as Chantelle couldn't seem to stop herself from getting into various situations.

While this isn't my usual genre, I decided to give it a read as I thought the synopsis sounded great and I was intrigued to find out the answer to the question, 'who is bent on scaring her away, and why?' I'm so glad I did because the book was thoroughly enjoyable.
Chantelle is funny and a likeable character who made me giggle at the beginning and who later on in the book, helped me to become involved in the mystery aspect.
The story advanced at a good pace and I found myself happily turning the pages until I realised that I had ended up finishing it in a day!
The fate of Chantelle is left on a bit of a cliffhanger and I'd love there to be a sequel so I can find out what will happen next in her life!
