When two unlikely paths cross . . . compatibility seems improbable. Adrift in a foul-mouthed world of ass kicking to survive life on the tough streets of Boyle Heights, Lila is anything but a refined girlie girl. Fighting tooth and nail for those she loves has left her with a chip on her shoulder as big as the gloves on her fists. After years of being surrounded by glamorous glitzy women, Sonny didn’t even realize how much he’s yearned for someone of real substance. So, when he meets the unapologetic, sexy-as-hell Lila, her in-your-face candor awakens something in him he’s never felt before. Despite Lila’s suspicions about Sonny’s intentions, the two begin a seemingly innocent, yet deliciously dangerous, online flirtation as his business keeps him away a lot. The more their rapidly growing connection intensifies, the more Lila feels Sonny is too perfect to be true. But when she’s blindsided by the truth about who Sonny really is . . . Compatibility suddenly feels impossible.

DNF after chapter 6

Slut-shaming extraordinary.
She called all girls sluts and worse, and he, despite he had sex with those 'Barbies', supported her judgemental attitude.

Freaking hypocrites.

Bad and sad.

4.5 - "Everyone has a weakness..." Stars!

My first foray into the writing of Elizabeth Reyes, with the first book in her new Boyle Heights series was a total success. I absolutely adored Lila and pretty much everyone that I met during its reading.

This isn’t an unknown author to me, in fact I have a large number of Elizabeth’s books from her 5Th Street & Moreno Brothers series sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read, but as many a good reader has said before me 'so many books, so little time…' So making the time to read and review Lila is definitely one of my better decisions.

I think what pulled me into this story from the start is that fact that Lila is the one with the anger management issues, and Sonny was just an absolute sweetheart when dealing with her nervousness around him, and in getting to know each other in general. The fact that the beginning of their relationship starts and progresses over the sharing of a large number of texts and emails didn’t hurt my enjoyment either, because I am a sucker for that sort of thing.

"I didn’t even know what I wanted until I met you."

Plenty of drama, and character introduction in this one too, but it was extremely well balanced and not overdone, and although I haven’t read any of the 5Th Street books (yet), the characters from that series feature heavily in the story as the gym is where Lila works, and it left me itching to learn more about them all.

Lila was sweet and sexy, a little different, with a bit of a Cinderella twist to it. There was plenty going on with the plot, and although I felt the ending was a little lacking in one way, it was also a great starting point for Lila’s sister Allison’s book; Beast the second book in the series has 2017 listed for its release, so hopefully we won’t have too long to wait because I am all sorts of intrigued to see what story the author gives her.

This is a spin-off to her 5th street series, but you DO NOT have to read that one first to enjoy this book. I have only read the first of that series, and other than knowing more in depth about some of the secondary characters, I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

Of course I like it when strong women are depicted in the books I read; however, sometimes those strong heroines come off as too strong for me. I was afraid to read this book because of this. In my mind: street fighter/boxer woman = too strong for me! lol I still have my feminist card, people. I'm just speaking the truth. This was not the case though! The girl is strong, but also so vulnerable! I loved her!

Oh Sonny. First of all, thank you for giving us a non-white H! (He's hispanic and italian) Secondly, I want this man in the flesh. I'm not sharing him. He's amazing. Seriously. Book boyfriend!

Good plot. I was entertained. Steamy sex, but not A LOT - which being a pervert, I may have wanted more.

Loved the set up for the next book - Beast! I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations.

My Thoughts:

I have been so excited to begin the Boyle Heights Series. I got to read a teaser at the end of a previous book by Elizabeth Reyes. The teaser reeled me in and hooked me, which left me dying for more! I have had the pleasure of reading every single book Ms. Reyes has written, and there have been a lot! Her stories never fail to make me obsess. I obsess over the characters, their friends, families, and acquaintances, and the challenges and hardships they each uniquely face.

The biggest reason being that Ms. Reyes weaves her writing spell on me, leaving me caring about her characters, relating to them in different ways, and feeling like I am a part of their group. In the 5th Street Series, I felt like I was a part of their elite boxing club, and best friends with all of the boxers and their wives. In the Moreno and Fate books, I felt like I was part of the Moreno clan and their tight-knit group of friends. Reading a book by Ms. Reyes is the difference between reading a book you love, but being an outside observer of the characters and plot, versus the characters taking on a life of their own, and feeling like you are a part of their world. It takes a rare and gifted writer to be able to accomplish this!

Lila is the first book in the Boyle Heights Series. It is a spin-off of the 5th Street Series. You don't have to have read 5th Street to follow along with Lila's story. Ms. Reyes uses some of the 5th Street characters as acquaintances and new friends to the Boyle Heights characters. Also, the 5th street gym is one of the settings where various scenes from the story take place.

Lila and her younger sister, Allison grew up in the foster care system. Being the older sister, Lila has always been very protective, and felt responsible for Ali. Unfortunately, her quick temper has gotten her in to hot water quite a few times. Lila is working at 5th street as an assistant youth trainer. She shares an apartment in the Boyle Heights projects with her good friend Stacia, and Ali. Finances are tough though, as she pays for all of her and Ali's living expenses, her sister's college tuition, and shares her car with Ali. The most important thing in Lila's life is Ali.

So, when Gio, an elite boxer from 5th Street, offers her a chance at professional woman's boxing, with the possibility of becoming a fitness model, (her dream career,) she takes it. Lila has reservations about boxing, because her mother died in the ring, but she wants to give Ali a better life, and Gio assures her that she's too fast and talented to get seriously injured.

When Lila and Stacia attend a music concert, she meets a gorgeous, charming, and sweet guy. Even though she's sworn off relationships for quite a while, "Sonny" tempts her and makes her feel more than she ever thought possible. Unfortunately, Sonny is not being completely forthright about his identity. He likes Lila immensely, but doesn't want to tell her who he is, until he trusts her completely. He wants to make sure she likes him for himself, and not for any superficial or opportunistic reason.

Lila and Sonny's story was a page-turner! It was passionate, exciting, unpredictable, and had just the right amount of suspense. Lila and Sonny's characters were both very endearing, while at the same time realistic. I could relate to Lila's role as protective older sister. Her short temper made her interesting, and so real. I also loved her independence, determination, inner-strength, and hard work ethic. I loved the way that Sonny brought out a softer, more vulnerable and feminine side to her as well.

Sonny was more even tempered, but when it came to Lila he could be very jealous. He was such a gentleman with her, and took their romance at the pace that she needed. Sonny was a real charmer. His charisma, and sex appeal oozed right off the pages. He made my heart pitter-patter, and the butterflies in my stomach dance!

My Rating:

Lila was an excellent start to the Boyle Heights Series. We learn enough about Lila's younger sister, Ali, to be highly invested in her character as well. Ali's story will be the second book in the Boyle Heights Series, and I am very excited to learn more about the seemingly meek and passive Ali, as she has now shown us that she is very spirited, and has a lot of Lila's traits in her! I give, Lila, by Elizabeth Reyes, 5 Magnetic, Passionate, Pulse-Pounding, Romantic Stars! Fans of Ms. Reyes 5th Street and Moreno/Fate books will be very happy with her new series!!!

Favorite Quotes:

Yeah, if you’re into nerdy little bookworms with glasses so think they could see into the future.

I don’t think I’d ever felt the profound happiness I fell from just one of your kisses… Happiness is not a strong enough word. It’s kind of scary what I’m feeling.

She was just defending herself. It’s what you’re supposed to do. Granted, breaking your hand in three places because you’re beating on someone that hard is maybe going a little overboard.

My Review:

Lila is my second time reading Ms. Reyes’s work and has earned her a spot on my permanent stalk/read list. Lila provided an interesting, thoughtful, and insightful read with subtle hits of humor, heavy hits of steam, and tons of drama. The characters were complex, well-drawn, intriguing, and endearingly flawed yet working toward betterment. The plot and storyline were entertaining, well-paced, engaging, and relevant. I relished the gradual yet positive evolution of the struggling main characters. Lila’s harsh life in the foster care system had turned her hard and bitter at a young age and left her with an explosive temper, short fuse, and a mercurial nature. She was extremely protective of her younger sister, Ali, who had been a frequent target of bullies due to her softer nature and someone odd appearance, and Lila quickly earned a troublesome reputation for violence and school expulsion in her sister’s defense or, more often than not, in seeking retribution, These tendencies and personal weaknesses continued to present her with challenges in adulthood, although she was not without awareness or insight into her own nature and attempted to be pro-active. However, once she catches the eye of an extremely handsome stranger, Lila’s life would never be the same.

Received arc in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, this is my first Elizabeth Reyes book! Though, I do own a few of hers, I've never actually read one until now.

I have to tell you all, this will not be my last. I'm already looking forward to Ali and Beasts story coming out sometime this year. I love me a baddddd boy and Beast has bad written all over him.

Anyway, let's get to Lila.

Lila is bad asssssss.
Lila and her sister had a rough time of it growing up. Death of their family, foster care, and moving from school to school. It hardened Lila, the only person she cared about was her sister and if someone f***ed with her, they were screwed. I love this protectiveness about Lila, I love that her hot headed-ness stems from her past but mostly from her caring for her sister, Ali. However, girl wasn't afraid to stand up for herself either.

"One warning," she said as her grip on Barbie's hand went even more lethal. "Get out of my face or I'll break your fucking hand."

description

Yes, girl.. YASSSS. Break her mutha effin handdd! Yeah, okay, I got kind of bloodthirsty when reading it. So sue me.

Insert Sonny. Big, tall, muscular, beautiful, masculine Sonnnnnyyy.

description

He's everything Lila needs and more. Lila is a tough cookie, rough around her edges in personality and hard as a rock on the outside too. She isn't your typical "girlie girl." Thankfully, Sonny doesn't want that type of girl anyway... when he meets Lila, he knows right away that she is exactly who he's been looking for.

I typically go for the bad boy types in stories. I like the rough alpha males who can be abrasive, aggressive, and arent afraid to go after what they want.

Sonny is a bit different than my typical book boyfriend. Sure, he still goes for EXACTLY what he wants and what he wants is Lila. However, he's sweeter than most. He's soft with her. Basically, where Lila is rough and hardcore, Sonny is tender and loving. It brings out the softer side of Lila... which let's be honest... she needed that.

So while Sonny isn't my usual type, I freaking LOVED HIM for Lila. LOVED. And we thankfully get a taste of a more alpha side of him as well.

Basically, did I just find a new author I'll be following? heck to the yes! Now bring me BEAST!

Lila is a kick butt girl! She has a temper and a mouth that is worse than her bite. She is a natural fighter as was her father.

Then she meets Sonny and her world changes. He gives her his middle name because she doesn't recognize this celebrity. He wants her to like him for him and not his money or fame. When the truth comes out. Lila is livid and with good reason.

What I liked about this story is how finding the right person can help you be a better one. Lila has her faults that could ruin her upcoming fame and that she tends to act first instead of thinking on it. I also loved watching their progression as a couple and watching Lila grow!

I didn't care for the explicit sex and I get that Lila has a mouth but dang!

If you like kick butt girls, celebrities, fighting, baseball, tempers, language, journalism, growing, finding someone who loves you for who you are and not what you are, stupid ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends this might be for you.

Another win for this author with a story that will pull you in. Sonny and Lila have some major chemistry going on between them. Lila is a breath of fresh air that he has no trouble breathing in. Sonny just can’t take his eyes off her he is so drawn into everything about her. She is so different from any other women he has ever met. Lila is a strong woman with a heart of gold she is so kind but can be what she needs to be if anyone messes with those she cares for. No one but no one wants to be in her line of sight when she gets upset. I really cheered her on throughout the read but with that temper she scared even me. My advice is getting out of her way until she calms down or takes it out on someone else whichever comes first.

This is one couple that will have to overcome some issues before they can even think about a future. I loved the buildup of their relationship which is hot, intense and full of passionate. They are on one heck of a roller coaster ride. Better hang on to your seats for this very emotional rough trip. The author gives you a very entertaining read that really keeps you invested hanging on to each word as you turn the pages. I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more of her work.

Lila is the start of Elizabeth Reyes' newest series, Boyle Heights. For those of you who are new to Eli (gasp!!), she is an amazing NA/Adult romance author. I can always count on her to take me back to those times in life and relive them through her characters.

I was so excited for this book. Lila is a female boxer - YES!!! I love strong female heroines - not just physically, but also in her characteristics. And Lila has no shortage of her immense fierceness. She's extremely loyal to those who are closest to her.

Sonny - gah!!!! If you have read any of her other series, you will recognize him from Eli's 5th Street series. And if you have no idea - what I am talking about, that's ok. You really don't need to know who he is, but you do want to go read that series. Sonny was immediately taken aback with Lila.

Lila is told from both her and Sonny's POV. Their story is quite intense and passionate. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions. While I felt everything was flowing perfectly, I felt we were shorthanded on Lila an Sonny near the end. I know we needed the build of Ali for the next book, but I wish we could have had more of Lila and Sonny too.

Overall, I am really excited for this series and can't wait to see Eli has coming next for us!!!

Meh. Had a little potential in the beginning despite all the reliance on the good girl vs slut tropes. But then it became overly sappy, which included the girl posse embracing Lila. There was also a lot of redundancy with the lame sex. But it was the end that really threw this off the rails. Reyes does this very lazy and hasty wrap up of Lila’s story so she can set up her sequel. That’s poor writing. A good book will draw readers to continue the series. The writer doesn’t have to resort to these ridiculous practices.

I first found Elizabeth Reyes with the 5th Street Series, so when I found out she was doing a spin-off I was all over it. As will all of her other books, the characters were easy to connect with and she draws you into the story. The book is filled with complex issues, humor and adventure, there never seems to be a dull moment.

Lila has had to be strong not only for herself but for her little sister for so long now it has become second nature. Boxing has never been on her radar, in fact she stayed as far away as possible thanks to the strains it had put on her family. When she finds herself working at the 5th Street boxing gym she decides training might give her an outlet for her anger. She loves the people she has become friends with at 5th Street. When she is approached by the owners of 5th Street to step onto Ladies boxing, she is very torn.

Sonny has gotten used to the life of fame but he has always felt that women only wanted him for that fame. Like many famous athletes he had come to believe he wouldn't find the right woman. When he see Lila at the bar, he is drawn to her, when he discovers she has not idea who he is, that draw is intensified.

Will Lila give boxing a go? Can Lila and Sonny move past the misguided truths and see if they have what it takes. Will stardom and fame get in the way of something that could be wonderful?

Looking forward to what is coming next in the Boyle Heights Series.

I absolutely loved Lila and Sonny's book. I have been wanting his story since he had been introduced in previous books. He was a typical superstar athlete in some ways, in regards to his playboy reputation and lifestyle, but he was incredibly sweet and romantic with Lila. Lila was the most badass babe that I've ever read about. I loved her aggression and fierce protection of her sister, Allison. Their history in the foster care system was heartbreaking, and I could see becoming so close and protective of each other after that experience. The evolution of Sonny and Lila's relationship was beautiful. I loved how they met, and she didn't know who he was. Things built slowly from there, yet they had great chemistry and a strong connection. I was thrilled to see the 5th Street guys and their wives again. I love them all so much. I enjoyed Lila's boxing part of the story, as well as Ali's investigative journalism. The teaser for Beast was so good. I am already anxious for that book.

Reviewed for www.marysuedies.com

I’ve always enjoyed Elizabeth Reyes’ books. Her writing isn’t especially lyrical and she doesn’t have any seriously complex storylines, but Reyes always writes sweet romances with unusual characters. Her 5th Street series is set in the poorer and working class neighborhoods of Los Angeles, where her heroines and heroes are seldom the white college kids we are so used to reading about. Lila is the first in a 5th Street spin off series called Boyle Heights.

Lila is a tough heroine to fall in love with. A foster kid with a terrible temper, Lila is violent, hot-headed, and often has a dirty mouth. Sonny, a professional baseball player that has appeared in previous books, is infatuated with her at first sight. Their romance has a few bumps along the way but mostly it is the story of a tough girl and a nice guy falling in love.

Some readers will love Lila, both the book and the character, she is strong and a survivor, but I’m going to admit that she is not my favorite kind of heroine. While I can appreciate that Lila behaves the way she does because of her background, I found the violence at the beginning of the book really jarring. Lila is not sweet or particularly kind and I never really warmed up to her.

Sonny also bugged me at times. I found his behavior with Tatiana inexplicable and I thought that Lila was a little too understanding about the entire episode. While Sonny is kind and adores Lila from the beginning of the book, the reader wonders if it is only because Lila isn’t aware of who he is or if Sonny is actually instantly in love with her.

I know this review sounds like I didn’t enjoy the book, that’s really not the case. Reyes writes men in particular very well and Sonny is no exception. His love (while it is instant) for Lila is sweet and romantic and I enjoyed his character very much.

Overall Lila is a worthy addition to Reyes’ catalog and while it has some issues for me, it was in whole an enjoyable read.

Original review: A Novel Glimpse

Note: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

Elizabeth Reyes was one of the first new adult authors I fell in love with. Her stories are filled with a diverse group of characters who are all mentally tough and willing to fight for what they believe in. I always appreciate the little connections she weaves in between her series, and the incredibly alpha males she creates.

Lila is a sports romance with a little romantic suspense woven in. It's told in dual points of view. Lila is a badass fighter just trying to get by. Sonny is the guy who sees past her tough exterior to the woman she really is. I have to warn readers, Lila and Sonny kind of have an insta-love thing going on. That didn't bug me, though. Their relationship might appear a little rushed, but it felt natural. I can see a lot of relationships being formed the way Lila and Sonny's was with technology being what it is these days.

Lila was one tough chick. I loved how fierce she was and how she stood up for those she cared about. Her determination was amazing. I also liked that she was the fighter in this one. What I loved even more about her was her ability to get a little soft when it came to Sonny. It made her seem like a real human with insecurities like the rest of us.

Sonny was a surprise. I won't give away who he is or how he's connected to Reyes' other books, but fans of hers are going to freak when they figure out who he is! I did. It made me happy that Sonny finally got the girl. He was a lot sweeter than I remembered him, but maybe that's because he found his perfect match in Lila.

Sonny isn't the only character making an appearance from Reyes' series. The entire cast of the 5th Street novels are involved in this story because Lila trains in their gym. It was fun to see some favorites again. I'm hoping more of her characters will continue to pop up in the Boyle Heights series.

The only thing that kept me from giving Lila 5 stars was the ending. Things got a little crazy, and it wasn't what I was hoping for the story. I did like the character growth shown by Lila. I just didn't like how she was able to prove herself. I also felt things were sped through at the end with Lila and Sonny. I didn't feel their relationship got the focus it should have at the end. Instead, the time was spent on Lila's sister Ali and setting up the next book -- which I can tell is going to be suspenseful! I liked the little preview, but would have liked more Lila and Sonny time.

That being said, I still really enjoyed Lila. I loved that Elizabeth Reyes created a character like Lila, who was both physically and mentally tough, and also gave her a soft side. It showed off her talent as a writer. I'm looking forward to finding out what's up next in the series.

It is hard not to fall in love with Lila. She is honest, straightforward and calls it as she sees it.

At the start, when she runs into Sonny - he seems to dubious and almost could be a mafia person with the way he is portrayed... somewhat. The Journey that changes Lila is what makes it most lovable. To see her start from a hard-nosed street kid and how Sonny breaks down her walls slowly and surely.

This isn't my first Elizabeth Reyes book - I read a couple of books from her other series which I really loved also. It's the journey that she creates that draws me in and her female characters are always so strong even opposite pretty strong male counterparts.

Now I feel like starting on the 5th Street series just to read about those characters.

A point to note - it does end with a cliff hanger for the next book.

I loved Lila and Sonny story. I enjoyed hearing about 5th street gym. Lila is a badass and would do anything for her sister Ali. Sonny is a famous baseball player. When they first met she didn't know who he was. Sonny fell hard for Lila. I highly recommend this book!

Ladies welcome to the creative magnificence that is Elizabeth Reyes, because if you haven’t read any of her previous works, this the start of her latest series is going to have you reaching for the one-click button to snap them all up,
Lila is book one in the Boyle Height series and it gets off the ground with a bang, this is nothing timid about this story just as there is nothing lightweight about Lila herself, she is the perfect heroine.
The author turned the heat up with Lila, because she is everything you would think you would get from a leading man, she’s a boxer, yep straight up a fighter by definition both in and out of the ring.
Lila doesn’t suffer fools gladly, she protects those that matter most to her and getting in her way is a risk that only the brave would only undertake…so up step Sonny!
The connection between the two of them was so full on, that as it took off and began to flourish I was aware of fact that there was no way I was going to get through them being together completely unscathed. I understood their passion, and because of that I had a vested interest in them being happy.
I liked the fact that they both got to tell their story, I also liked that both points of view were given equal importance but as the book drew to a close I felt them slipping away almost, I thought that the set up for the next book almost surpassed them and that was a shame.
As I expect with Ms Reyes, this book was beautifully written and the relationship between Sonny and Lila was pitched to absolute perfection. This may be just the start but I am already looking forward to the next book and to see what the author dreams up for the inhabitants of Boyle Heights.

I was excited to read about a tough female boxer. While I really loved the fierce protective side of Lila, I disliked her constant slut shaming. (I mean just because she hasn’t gotten sex in years doesn’t mean she needs to hate women that do pursue it! Even if they are hanging off a guy, so? That woman knows what she wants and makes it clear!) Though she is described as having a chip on her shoulder and boy it shows in that way among others!

But what’s really problematic is this line from her love interest, “You’ll just have to take my word for it because I ain’t going anywhere. I know where to find you now, and I have no qualms about stalking you until you hear me out anytime you send me packing.” Yikes. That’s not romantic, that’s a red flag for a controlling and possibly abusive man. He’s outright saying he’ll stalk her and not let her leave the relationship! That’s terrifying! So disappointed the author wrote this. The whole reason I loved her 5th Street series is because she stayed away from romanticizing controlling toxic behavior. Him claiming her vagina was his was pretty cringe worthy too. Sigh. I was looking forward to a wonderful guy like the ones in the other series and was left disappointed.

I’m interested enough in how her boxing career will turn out and her sister’s story to keep reading. But the issues I mentioned really mar the quality of the book.

Another great story

Lila has seen her share of hardship and her temper has always been out of control. She needs to find a healthier way to channel her anger but the channel that comes naturally to her is something she swore she would never do.

She is convinced that all men can not be trusted and they only want one thing. She meets Sonny is an unusual way and can't understand how this beautiful and sincere man could possibly be interested in her. Her guard is up because nothing is as good as it seems, or maybe it is?

Sonny is a major league baseball superstar that is loving life and enjoying everything it has to offer. He was just traded to his hometown baseball team and he's looking forward to spending more time with his family and friends. He wasn't looking for love, he was content with his female distractions. Then his driver almost ran over the most genuine woman he has ever met. He can't stop thinking about her and realizes his sexual flings had nothing on the feelings that Lila was igniting in him. He never had to chase a girl but for this girl he would be willing to walk to the ends of the earth.

Lila and Sonny's love story is very touching and so sweet. I have no doubt that you will love it.

Finally Lila is here, and I’m so happy about it. When Elizabeth Reyes talked about the foul-mouthed, bad-tempered girl, I was curious what she had in store for us. Lila is definitely not afraid to fight, though nine times out of ten it is to protect her sister.

Lila is a great character, I loved seeing a woman who was a bit more edgy, cursed like a sailor, and wasn’t even afraid to get physical. Though when it comes to men, she is like every other female. She tries to keep her cool when she meets Sonny, but she falls for him hard, and fast.

Sonny was charming, and sweet. From the first moment he sees Lila, and she has no clue who he is, that’s it. He is head over heels for her, and I loved how soft he was around her. Totally whipped really, but in an adorable way. Not to mention the chemistry between them was H-O-T!

Lila is a great start of a new series. We already know the second book is going to be about her little sister, Ali, who you’ll also love. I already can’t wait to read her story as well. Elizabeth Reyes is known for writing strong female characters, and Lila is a perfect addition to that.

Lila by Elizabeth Reyes
Boyle Heights Series Book One
Lila Rico has a big problem. Rage. Uncontrollable rage. As if that's not bad enough, she has the ability with her fists to do a lot of damage when the rage hits. A caring dean at her school suggests the one thing that can help her rage. The one thing she never wanted to be part of for personal reasons. The one thing that may help her stay out of trouble and be there for her sister, Ali. Boxing.

Sonny never thought he'd find the “right” girl. Someone who would like him for who he is—not for what he does. When he meets Lila, she seems too good to be true. And maybe she is.

I loved this story as it brings the gang from the 5th Street Gym into it. It's unique that it's the heroine with the anger and jealousy issues—although Sonny is far from whimpy. Looking forward to the next book in this series already. Beast will be Ali's story.

This is the first book in a new series with fresh characters. It does feature characters from other series that this author has written but it is not essential to read them prior to starting this book as they feature as minor characters in this book.

The main character of Lila is an incredibly feisty character with an incredibly short fuse. She is very much governed by her temper and protectiveness of her younger sister. But through reading the story and getting to know her, you get a sense of how complex she is, how vulnerable and insecure she is.

As with every Elizabeth Reyes book, it has great character dynamics, intriguing storylines and the need to keep reading more.

A teaser at the end sets us up with an idea as to what the next book in the series will be about.

Another great book!

I love that Lila wasn't our typical Heroin. she had so much attitude and was such a bad ass. Elizabeth Reyes you have to be one of the best authors witg series tgat crossover ever because I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT!! I loved seeing the 5th Street gang again and im SO excited we are getting more this year (hopefully like soon...I NEED more) especially after that ending woman. 5 stars. I love that you never disappoint! if you've never read her please do you'll be so beyond addicted.

I have enjoyed the majority of this author's work to date, and this was no exception. The story is a little slow moving. I have enjoyed seeing old characters in the story and meeting new ones.Sonny is such a down to earth person, even though he is rich, charming, hot, and is really interested in her. Lila is strong, silent, protective and she lucks out when she meets him. I enjoyed watching the story unfold between Sonny and Lila there are steamy moments and a bit of edginess in the read. I wish there was an epilogue in it.
