I mostly enjoyed this m/m romance. Jared is a likable and sympathetic MC and I enjoyed the chemistry between him and his cocky love interest, Reese. I do think this book could have benefited from explaining more of what's going on in the world and why earlier. There are a lot of references to the ditchbreed and Renegades, but I got a bit frustrated as a reader because these terms weren't really explained in full until well into the novel. Overall, though, I would recommend this if you like the hurt/comfort romance genre. McKayne has a fantastic way with words!

An entertaining read!

Jared and Reese have an intense chemistry that jumps off the page. The world is divided into two societies, Renegades and Rescues.
Without giving anything away, I was surprised by the history of how it came to be (a good kind of surprise).
There were times of action, danger, lust and love. An entertaining read!
I'm looking forward to Rae's book! And hopefully Declan's!

Renegades was a little slow at the beginning and was a little too much romance with not enough action for me, but the familial relationship and the positive message of rescuing the renegades really made this novel spectacular.

My favorite character was Rae. With all of her sarcasm and wit and I cannot wait to read the second book in this series which centers around her!
