This book collects blogs from soldiers and those close to them to give an extremely broad and intimate look at our current wars and how they are affecting Americans. The content is hampered by a uniform pro-war sermonizing from almost all the bloggers. There is also some dehumanization of the enemy and Iraqi and Afghani citizens that comes from the heat of combat. Despite these hindrances there are several powerful passages in here that spell out the realities of these wars as well as the passion of the men and women that fulfill their missions.

I read blogs. I write a blog. I enjoyed reading the real stories of a select group of servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'll admit that I skipped over the death section, because at the time it was too hard for me to read.

All in all, an interesting and quick read.

Great collection of Iraq and Afghanistan-related milblog posts. The Blog of War covers every war from the perspective of the individuals who take part: friends, spouses, and the soldiers themselves.

One of Alex's blog entries is in here. Not one of his best, though.

I highly recommend this book. Real, and honest. Helps to understand what our hero soldiers are really going through. Brought tears to my eyes an many occasions.
