I read Lucky Bitch on my flight to Santa Barbara from Atlanta, with a connecting flight in Phoenix. My only complaint (and reason for four instead of five stars) is that it was such a breeze to read that I finished it and craved more. Lucky for us Lucky Bitches, she has a second book!
While I've read The Secreat, and many other Law of Attraction-type books, this book is a tad different. While it absolutely focuses on how you can manifest things/situations/people into your life, she also explains that you cannot just wish it into existence. You have to make it happen - and this is the guide on how to do exactly that!
I said this in my last review and I’ll say it again - Denise keeps it real but she’s still enthusiastic. I feel like I’m talking to my best friend. After reading this book, I’m exhilarated to start my business and throw everything I can into it!
I really enjoy Denise and look forward to working more on my manifesting course and to reading her other book. I found a lot of little errors in this book which makes me say "hmm" but it's a great read, useful. I wish there were more concrete activities. I'd like to know more about this thirty day self care challenge she did before too. Perhaps she'll tell us in another book.
Overall, a light hearted look at how to manifest whatever the hell you want in your life. I was hoping for something more exciting. Spotted several errors too. I live DDT tone, she's down to earth and authentic, so makes the above forgivable.
An interesting book, I liked the personal approach and the practical advice the author gives. My criticism is that there is too much repetition. I enjoyed the advice she gave.
A great practical guide on how to manifest luck and create the life of your dreams. Denise's use of personal stories and examples of steps she took in her own life bring the concepts of the Law of Attraction to life and make it easier to understand and implement.
I listened to the audible version narrated by Denise, which felt more like a conversation with a friend. I would highly recommend it for anyone that is ready for the next step... to manifesting the life of your dreams!
First, the good - Denise has a chatty, easy style and walks you through the basics of positive thinking and manifesting easily.
The bad - uses the word ‘girlfriend’ and ‘gorgeous’ too often, to the point where it becomes a bit irritating and ‘try hard’.
The ugly- none of the information is new, most of the audio is filler for about 8 basic tenets of positive psychology and the whole audio could be about 2 hours long instead of 7.
There are many, many mistakes that were not edited out, which is an easy thing to fix and I cannot understand why they weren’t and it ultimately negatively impacts the overall enjoyment of the audiobook and it’s perceived quality. Given that she’s a millionaire entrepreneur, these were things that could have and should have been fixed if only for professionalism. There are also a bunch of mixed messages from her when relating her own experiences, which stretch her credibility somewhat.
Overall, it’s not a terrible book, it’s just not a particularly good one.
Loved this and Love Denise! Thanks for the permission and guidance of how to be kinder to myself. I tend to be the one to sacrifice myself for my family and feel guilty if I ever do anything for myself. This really hit close to home. I think right now that was the unexpected lesson and thanks for the permission to take care of myself a little bit more and the belief that I'm worth it. Not what I expected to gain from this book, but grateful for the surprise.
Additionally, I love that Denise read this herself, and I love that the bloopers were left in. <3
I've read many Law of Attraction Books, this one really helps you put together an actionable plan and practices into your life, verse just wishing and hoping. Kudos Denise, and thank you! Ready to read again! Here's the dilemma, read again, or listen to the next book I bought at the same time! lol
How appropriate that I finished the book on my favorite date of the year?! :)
If you've never seen Denise Duffield-Thomas... Make a note to check out her blog. Then grab this book and start taking action to create a life you love.
In her book, Lucky Bitch, Denise outlines how she worked with the Law of Attraction to manifest an experience she really wanted - a six-month gig as a professional honeymoon tester.
With gratitude and forgiveness at the foundation of her work, she walks her readers through the specific steps she used to create a career she loves, making insane amounts of money, with time and energy left over to enjoy the fruits of her labor. (and explains the title of this book)
Sounds too good to be true? I've read several books on Law of Attraction, and this is the most practical guide I've found yet. Dive in and try it for yourself.
The title is not my favorite, but the IDEAS are useful in this book. I've been listening to YouTube videos of money mindset coach Denise Duffield-Thomas for weeks and she's mentioned her books so many times, my interest was piqued. This is a quick, easy read. She tells of her incredible success in winning an around-the-world six-month paid trip with her husband, and I enjoyed the personal development/manifesting aspects of this book. She repeats ideas from other teachers who I admire, such as Louise Hay and Napoleon Hill, and I respect that we've found helpful life truths some similar sources.
Lucky Bitch to have found this! This book was a refreshing take on motivational thinking/ self help and NLP with a dash of the Law of Attraction thrown in! I loved Denise's delivery so much that I also bought the audio book and listen to it in my car. The author tells the story of how she turned her own life around and created a dream career and life for herself. The book is so positive that I couldn't help feeling the same way. Now all I have to do is sell a million copies on THE LETTER and prove that Denise's theories and advice work! I really recommend this book. It's one I will read many times over.
I finished it in 2 days. She's honest (she says most of the info in the book is not 'new', which is true!), full of self confidence and you notice this in her writing style. Not to much blabla, just straight to the point. It's a good book for people who wish to get started with LOA and need more confidence (as a mindset) but know it's just a light read. No life changing deep wisdom here, more like something you can finish in a Sunday afternoon. I really appreciate her telling us how she won the 6-month world travel contest. I will sure use some nuggets from her book.
Excellent book that I would break down into the following themes:
1) A real-life example/lesson on how the author won a six-month honeymoon sweepstakes, including the exact manifesting steps she took to "clear the decks" for her honeymoon
2) A manifesting process that you can "rinse and repeat"
3) Pep talks around self-image, self-love and self-care
4) The importance of forgiveness work
5) Steps to incorporate the Law of Attraction into your business
If you need guidance--or even reminders--about these topics, be sure to read LUCKY BITCH!
I love Denise Duffield--in the realm of heavy-handed LOA authors, she really is a breath of fresh air. Conversational, breezy, easy, and oh, so practical. Lucky Bitch is enjoyable to read—you'll be done with it quickly and will come away with aha's plus many easy-to-implement practices to increase your manifestation game. REcommended
I love Denise's down to earth style - it feels like you're talking to a friend who totally understands your mind! She takes a very common sense approach to the law of attraction and I had a number of lightbulb moments while reading - suddenly it started to sound a lot less 'woo' and things started to click.
I'm very excited about the future now - it's going to be fun!
I loved this book almost as much as Denise's "Get Rich, Lucky Bitch". Both books helped me take a closer look at my own narrative and how to correct what just isn't working. Great books to read if you aren't afraid of doing the work to improve yourself and your life.
Denise gives a lot of great tips to change your mindset around money, learn to love yourself and change your money story. It's no new material though. But I enjoyed reminders and her way of approaching each topic within money mindset.
This was full of some very new tips for manifesting such as changing your password to your dream job etc. Afformations instead of affirmations - she is very light and lively making the whole experience rather enjoyable.
Excellent book- empowering, inspiring and feel- good all at once. The book definitely will help if you work along with it. Really good book. Loved the narrative - authentically honest, vulnerable and brave.
One of my favourite self help books. The indicator of success for any self help book is, do you feel different after reading it? Yes I do after reading this and there are some valuable tools which I am going to put into practice.
This was great; Denise is really likeable and she gives good tips about how to change your life through manifestation. A book that I’ll dip into often.
A lot of cross over with her money book but still helpful. Why must self help books have written exercises? not sure what the newest edition 7/18 has on offer?
