The last Immortal Queen of Indriell has named her heir. The title means nothing to Allie Carmichael. Nothing but more drama and attention she never asked for. Allie loves her newly discovered royal grandparents, but she just wants to finish her senior year of college and start her first job. Not step forward as the princess of a long dead nation she knows precious little about. At twenty-one, she considers herself an adult and has finally found the normal life she’s always craved. As normal as it gets for a young Immortal legacy—prophecy or not. For years, Allie and Aidan have gone their separate ways, doing the college thing and just living their lives. Apart. It was his choice to sever their ties. A sacrifice to give her the time she needed to come to terms with her bond with his brother, Darius. A sacrifice she’s come to believe was necessary for all of them. But when Allie discovers that Aidan hasn’t been in school all this time—and his family hasn’t heard from him in more than a year, she struggles to contain her rage and the powerful judgment that burns within her. Protecting Aidan, even from himself, fuels her every breath. She would do anything for him. Even step forward as the heir.
The Mortal Instruments meets Red Queen in the Immortals of Indriell, a series of dark, paranormal fantasy tales.
Melissa A. Craven (the "A" stands for Ann—in case you were wondering) was born near Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of seventeen. She still thinks of Cleveland as home, so it was only natural for Emerge to take place there. Today, she is back in Atlanta—for some reason she can't seem to stay away from the ungodly heat that makes her long for things like "lake effect snow" and wind that will knock you flat. Melissa decided a long time ago that the “life checklist” everyone else was clutching so tightly in their fists, just wasn’t for her. She does everything backwards because she is weird like that, but then, she is an artist and artists are notoriously "unique" and "quirky." She is an avid student of art and design, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of West Georgia in 2009. She worked as an interior designer for several years, but she's always thought she might like to be a writer when she grows up. In her spare time, if she has any, she enjoys shopping for derelict furniture she refinishes to exercise the interior design part of her brain.
The books were so well written, I didn’t get lost in the verbiage. Able to understand all that was happening. I’m sorry to disappoint but there isn’t anything in these books I didn’t like, except maybe it seemed they weren’t long enough. I’m hoping that there will be more. It simply cannot end yet.
I liked this book the best so far. This book starts off a few years after Captive and Allie is almost finishing college when she finds out Aidan has been missing, and no one had told her. She has also been named the Heir, and is trying to do everything she can to ensure that she maintains her responsibilities, figures out what’s going on with Soma, and find Aidan.
I loved how this one came back to Allie and we see how she has grown and is becoming her own woman. The struggles and challenges she has previously faced along with everything she learns and does in this book are giving her the strength of character to become an incredibly powerful force to reckon with.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

The story: Picking up years after the last time we saw Allie and Aidan, their lives are very different. They haven't seen each other since Aidan left for Germany. Allie still hurts from his abandonment but she has Darius, Aidan's brother and her other half. She should be moving on. Just when she begins to think she is, she finds out Aidan is missing and that she has a bigger role to play than she thought. What I loved: Just about everything. This is by far the best in the series which is strange because Allie and Aidan are at odds for most of it. But her platonic relationship is truly special to watch and I really enjoyed seeing that develop without Aidan there to cause conflict. The cast of characters we've come to know is just as lovable as always. I really loved getting to know her grandparents - the ancient queen and scholar. And the sisterly bond with Livia that has developed is really a strong point. The story in this series has always been good, but it's been the characters that keep you glued to the page and that is especially true with the Heir.
What was just okay: I suggest reading this right after the previous book or else the beginning takes a bit to get into. It's such a complicated world that it's hard to straighten everything out right away if it's not fresh in your mind. I spent most of the book hating Aidan, but I think I was supposed to in order to really feel his struggle - which I did.
Final Verdict: A fantastic story with characters who reach right out of the story to grab you and never let go. This is not a book I'll soon forget. I can't wait for the next one.
I was hooked by the description of the book to actually finishing. Just Wow!
That is how to write a book.
Allie has put her big girl pants on and is ready to take on those who have a say in the governing of the immortal world. She is not going to stand by and let immortals suffer at the hands of the Senate any longer. The thing is she is not sure what in front of her is reality and what is her visions as they take on a new way of presenting themselves. Aidan has gone missing and that is reason enough for Allie to 'man up' so to speak.
Great writing, amazing characters that just grow more layers and get better, new characters that make the story all the better for their presence, old characters are given a face. I love the grandparents, I can totally see Sean Connery in the role of The Scholar.
Loved it and although I am ready for the next in the series not sure my brain is ready to go backwards, again and I have to wait for the release, oh no :-0
I'm so ready to find out if they will end up being each others complements.
In Heir we jump 4 years ahead from where Captive (book3) ended. Allie is now almost done with collage and it has been years since she has talked to Aidan, even through their mental connection. What’s even worse is that she discovers that Aidan’s family has also lost contact with him and didn’t tell her. Now Allie needs to find him with the help of her sister Livia. She is also expected to step forward as the named heir of the last queen of Indriell. Now she needs to juggle finding where Aidan has really been the last 4 years, her newly acquired title and figuring out what is going on at Soma. This book goes back to a single POV and told only from Allie’s side of events.
This story just keeps on getting better and better. I need to know what happens with Allie and Aidan! This series is so unique and has so much depth to it. I am excited to see where the story goes next.
Once again I couldn’t put it down!! I’m such a book geek 🤓 📚. The only thing that bothers me about this series is the jumping around in years from one book to another.. since the books don’t come out often I tend to forget somethings and have to go back and reread.. My only complaint.. Otherwise I love the history that comes with the story and the story is absolutely amazing and my top favorites!! It’s so interesting and out of the norm compared to all the books out there.. I don’t buy many books I usually just read off of Kindle but if they have hard covers available this is a series I’m very interested in buying to add to my small collection.. Keep it coming your Amazing 😉
I am going to be so sad when this series comes to an end. I feel like I intimately know all the characters and their very important rolls in this story. Each book only leaves you hungry for more! It was fun to watch Allie come into her own, from one so young she had no idea the direction her life was going to take, into becoming her own person, stronger than she ever dreamed possible. And then there is hunky Adrian there always helping her to become the very best. If you start this series prepare to become addicted! It sure grabbed me in.
I really enjoyed this book the most and the first one.. I guess I just really love the books that are about Allie and Aidan.. I am still hoping and wishing that they end up being complement.. I really love them together.. I think they are perfect for each other and they really make each other happy also they are stronger together.. I will be heartbroken and unhappy if they end up with other people.. I can’t wait for the next book in this series..
I loved this one, as I said in another review, each book become my favorite. It's full of action, expectations and new happenings. Like the new gifts that the new generation has been gaining in books. Seeing Allie finally come to terms with what she was born to be is amazing. And watching her and the other characters grow is addictive. I want more... :D.

Allie is back and names Heir. She both loves and dislikes her life now. But in this story she must face so many things and make choices. Then she finds out Aidan is missing and then things get wilder. Full of action and an addicting story, I found it hard to put down. Had to see what Allie would decide, what she would uncover and if she would find Aidan.
This was another absolutely fantastic book. This one goes into 4 yrs in the future. It opened questions about Allie and Adian and what happened between them. But it answered more questions about Allies unique abilities. I'm excited to read more about Allie and Adian and the rest of the family.

This is a very remarkable and impressive series and this book is no exception. The characters are captivating and intriguing, there is quite enough suspension to keep you plastered to your seat. Enjoy this book.

This amazing world Melissa Craven created is so cool. I love all the characters and can not wait to see what happens in the future for each character. That cliff hanger was crazy... ugh now I have to wait. Thank you for writing these books.
This book was axing, but at the same time felt a bit rushed. There's more to come to the series and unfortunately I'll have to buy those novellas to fool in the missing pieces in the longer books.
I can't wait for the next one. I really want to know who is Allie's Complement. The bonds that they have and how the family dynamic always changes and twists. Darius, Allie, Aidan, Naomi and possibly two more people. Or is Aidan talking about Allie. Meeting Grandma and Grandpa. I want more.
It’s simply awesome. The entire series is pretty remarkable with incredible depth of the characters and the lure of the storyline . Allie goes from strength to strength in this one. It’s hard to see how it can get better. Looking forward to reading the next book.
Heir is book 4 and not a standalone. I loved this jump and watching how things unfold. Allie is Heir and watching her step into the role was perfect. Hate giving things away so know I have enjoyed all 4 books and plan on keep going!
I liked how Allie had been able to come out of her shell and take the leadership role. Aidan is still an idiot but I’m interested in his POV in the next book.

Final Thoughts Overall, Emerge: The Heir by Melissa A. Craven was a fantastic installment for the series. The events that took place are really driving the plot and story in a great way. While events of the prophecy are now becoming more clear and clear it’s been amazing watching Allie and the rest of the immortals interpret the best outcome. While the jump in time did cause some disconnection with the plot and characters, it was definitely the best way to write this story. I loved the development of the characters and the roads they are taking to really define themselves. All of the bonds they are creating are fantastic and I can’t wait to follow them more. I highly recommend this series and can’t wait to see what else these young immortals have in story for us.
