Adventures of an Old Maggot

Rate this book
What will this ‘old maggot’ do to stay off the hook?

A Maggot is described in the Aussie Slang Dictionary as a ‘reprehensible character.’

What does an ‘old maggot’ do when his wife dies unexpectedly, and his house burns down?

Set in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, in the early 1970’s, Grindal Falcon must adjust to a whole new way of living. Unwittingly, he moves in with two gay men. Unable to come to terms with his homophobia, he transfers to a ‘Gentleman’s Boarding House,’ run by a dictatorial landlady and filled with very few gentlemen.

Follow his adventures, filled with drama and humor, as this reprehensible character tries to survive.

The writing is so bad I didn't get past the first 3 chapters. It gets 1 star because no stars isn't an option.

An interesting title that leads to a great story

It's one of those stories that you read in disbelief, but something about it, makes you continue to read and like it. The description of the book states "A Maggot is described in the Aussie Slang Dictionary as a ‘reprehensible character.’"That information is definitely needed to understand the title. It's a very unique story, but it keeps you reading, more and more. It's the kind of story that you either like it or you don't like it, and I liked it. The author puts it together well, and tells a very interesting, and sometimes disturbing tale.

Poorly written with a lot of grammatical and spelling mistakes, but still a read which gave me an humorous escape from every day life...
