Kayla Mackey
I was ready to run from my loss and find something to make me breathe again.
I didn't know it could happen. Until Jase.

Jase Riding
I felt desolate and alone when I lost the best part of me. I didn't know where I would find someone to mend the broken parts in me. That was... Until Kayla.

We met, and with a brief hello and a hushed profanity, we were hooked. I swear we heard thunder when our eyes met.

Boom. And our lives were changed forever.

It's a lovely story that brought two broken people together and healed each other.

It's about Jase and Kayla.

Her parents died from a car accident two years ago and she was lost since then. She took her time to mourn. Now, she needs a fresh start and it's time to go to college.

He's an architect and runs his own business at home most of the time. He lost his wife of ovarian cancer three years ago leaving him with his five year old daughter, Avery.

He's not interested to meet anyone but when he laid his eyes on her, everything changed.

I never felt she's second best. And Avery is so adorable.

It has a really nice epilogue. I loved it!

There are too many references to his deceased wife for my liking, not to mention inconsistencies with how he apparently felt about her. He mentally thinks how he and his wife never had the spark, the depth of love, his best friend has with his wife, but later, and after meeting Kayla and feeling the boom, he thinks about how perfect his wife was and that he was unworthy of her. That makes no sense. Second, Kayla refers to his wife as his true love upon learning she passed away, and Jase never refutes the statement. Yes, he loved his wife, but we've already read it wasn't that type of love, yet he lets Kayla, his boom, believe it was. This is why I think she comes off as second best because if he never felt for his wife what he does for Kayla, then his wife was not his true love, Kayla is. Another thing I did not care for was Jase and Kayla naming their daughter after his first wife. While it may come off as sweet to some, it seems a little creepy to me, but in Jase's eyes, he believes his deceased wife brought Kayla into his life somehow. Umm, okay.

Also, there are problems with the time frame, and both occur in the epilogue. Jase and Kayla have been married five years, having made it official two months after meeting, yet he mentally thinks about how he's known her for six years. That makes no sense. The other involves Avery, Jase's daughter, who is five throughout the book prior to the epilogue, however, five years later, she's now twelve. That's not how math works.

I liked the premise, felt for Kayla and her loss, and loved Avery and her interactions with her dad, and find the author to be talented in how she tells a story, yet my issues as mentioned above detracted from the enjoyment I could've had with this book. Though I will say, I love that Jase had been celibate since losing his wife years prior, making Kayla the first he's been with since becoming a widower. I was very happy he wasn't written as turning into a manwhore in his grief, because for some reason that tends to be a favorite coping mechanism for too many authors and I truly wish that character trait would fade away, never to be heard from again. It's not attractive.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review

This was such a cute read and my favorite so far of the bunch. No, I wasn’t biased because the main characters name is Kayla! Well maybe lol.

Be warned that there is an insta love in here so deep that it might annoy most readers. Well, I like my insta love served up a shiny platter so you know I devoured this. Jack and Kayla were cute beyond words but they also were both struggling with things. Kayla was still mourning the death of her parents and Jace was dealing with his feelings of being ready to move on after his wife’s passing. They were there for each other and I love it.

Sidenote: I loved seeing Harmony and Harlen make a cameo appearance in this one!

All in all, this novella is another great addition to the world ARR created! ❤️

First book by this author.
I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it.

If the entire thing wasn’t the span of 24-48 hours, then I would’ve liked it. But I mean, they met; a day later, they’re in love and talking about babies.
There was basically no dialogue with the initial meeting...

If it were longer and had more time then I think I would’ve loved it.
I definitely want to try some Ben Cooper though!

For some reason, single dad/mom novels are my favorites. There’s something about a dad opening himself up to love, and about a woman opening her heart to kids that aren’t her own that just get to me. And vice versa.

This was my first CC Monroe novel, though I do have a copy of Loving Ben Cooper. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet due to all the new releases- but since Sadie and Kate make their appearance in Kayla’s book, I’m going to have to crack that one open!

Until Kayla is the story of Kayla Mackey moving from Portland to Tennessee for school, two years after her parents pass away. Jace Riding is a single father who lost his wife three years earlier. He and his little girl, Avery, live in Tennessee and Jace is looking for someone to share his life with. Not actively, since dating with a daughter is difficult, but he does miss sharing his life with someone. But how could anyone take the place of Lainey?

Kayla is trying to move on, but the death of her parents hit her hard. but she’s hoping the move to Tennessee will help her feel closer to her parents. While unpacking her things, she meets Harlen and Harmony (from Until Harmony! Yay!). Did I mention Harlen and Jace grew up together? (BOOM!-yes I did that)

I really love the instant connection these two have. The kind that makes of them stupid for a minute… or two. And Kayla tries to deny her feelings for a hot minute. Jace ain’t havin’ that. One of my favorite things is that Jace curses a lot. I have the mouth of truck driver and I think Jace drops the f-bomb every five minutes (love it!). And he takes care of Kayla the best way possible. I also love the fact that Jace’s reactions feel real! I don’t want to give it away– so I won’t– but CC Monroe captures reality in her characters.

And can we talk about how she captures Harlen and Harmony? I do love the growly bastard.

5 Stars for this amazing read!

I feel like with this new series spinoffs, they're hit and miss with me.
I've read some amazing ones, and some ones that just make me cringe.
Unfortunately, this one was a miss for me.

Firstly, the Harlan and Harmony just didn't feel like the one's we got to know if ARR, Until Harmony. the dialogue was, I hate to even say it again, cuz it sounds so mean, but the dialogue was just cringy. And I hate that because it had so much potential... I'm such a sucker for a hot dad.
But even the internal dialogue just... I don't even know.

Kayla moves to town because she's running from the death's of her parents from a couple years ago.
Jase lost his wife a few years ago to cancer and is raising his daughter alone.
After meeting Harmony and Harlan while moving into her new place, Jase has been friends with Harlan since childhood, so when they agree to go out for the night, Harmony decides that Jase and Kayla need to meet. They do, and within a sentence or two together, they leave the bar together due to the BOOM.

So, in one night, they fall in love and the next day, Kayla meets his daughter, and then, wouldn't you know it... they live happily ever after.

2 stars from me on this one.

Kayla Mackey lost everything but is now starting over in a new place and looking forward to the future. She doesn't expect to meet Jase Riding, the instant attraction is unbearable and they both find they can't stay away from one another. Is it too soon for the single father and the college student to find a happily ever after?

This was fun, too short but overall a good base for the story. I liked Jase a lot, he had some cute interactions with his daughter. Kayla was a good match for this hero.

I just simply love this story. I'm just sad that it ended so quick, I had a feeling that I finished it in a blink of an eye. I hope their story will get longer version. Beautiful characters, great storyline, just a great BOOM love story about Jase and Kayla

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of Until Kayla by CC Monroe this past Friday. That’s right – two days ago. And I finished it within hours. I inhaled this book like it was my reason for living. It was phenomenal.
Story Line: Kayla is mourning the loss of her parents. She  moves to Tennessee for a fresh start  Jase is single dad and widower. These two meet through Harlen and Harmony (Until Harmony by ARR) I was super excited for this tie in. Because Harlen and Harmony are probably my second favorite Until series couple. And CC writes them so freaking well that I had a really hard time believing I wasn’t reading a book written by ARR.
Kayla has such tragic demons that haunt her. And of course Jase has his, losing his wife and love of his life while having a daughter to raise. But he pulls through and has an amazing 5 year old daughter. And there is nothing sexier than a good dad. I mean, it goes without saying that Jase is extremely good looking, but if he were a bad a dad? Game over. Luckily for us, he’s a model dad and his entire world revolves around that little girl – as it should.  The “boom” for these two happens so suddenly and so very ARR. I loved it. I don’t think the queen herself could have written it any more perfectly. Jase and Kayla have a love story for the ages.
Interaction: Jase is uber alpha. Not in an intimidating, grouchy way like Nico and Harlen, but in a blush, curl your toes and say anything you want, it’s yours kind of way. And Kayla isn’t immune to his charms. She’s under his spell from first meeting. But don’t get me wrong, they have hurdles to overcome. And when they do, we are left with a feeling of hope for those of us who have experienced loss like they have.
Laundry: Do these two have sexual chemistry or what? Oh lordy, yes they do. They mesh so seamlessly that I re-read a couple of the scenes and took notes for the hubby to read. No joke. Will he read them? Probably not, but it’s the thought that counts, right? Without giving away too much, yes these two have incredible laundry. Yes, it’s dirty and raw and powerful. And no, you will not be disappointed. Not one bit.
Depth: What gives this story such powerful depth is the back story to both of our leading characters. Jase lost his wife and the mother of his daughter. That hits deep. I’m a month to two beautiful children and I cannot imagine being in his shoes. It brings tears to my eyes even letting my mind wander down that path. And then there’s Kayla. Losing your parents is never easy. Losing them so early in life? Gut wrenching. So these two love birds have so much to overcome to allow themselves to move on and be happy. And in true Happily Ever Alpha fashion, they get their HEA. And it’s sensational.
I cannot rave enough about this book. CC Monroe really outdid herself. We got glimpses into Harlen and Harmony’s lives as well as her Ben Cooper characters, which was so awesome to read. Until Kayla releases in the Kindle World on April 3rd. Make sure you add it to your TBR list on Goodreads and then one click this bad boy on release day!

“You taste like something I’ve been missing.”

“What have you been missing?”

“A fucking heartbeat.”

“You think this will only last tonight? You couldn’t be more wrong, Kayla.
This is just the fucking beginning. You’re mine.”

Another single dad!! Y’all are MAKING MY WEEK! And a delightfully adorable one, at that. Nothing is better than a devoted dad! I seriously fell in love with Jase as soon as I witnessed him interacting with his daughter. “‘Not possible, little one. I’m your protector.’ I stop tickling, and her laughs settle as she catches her breath. ‘And my protector you will always be,’ she whispers back to me what I taught her to always respond when I say that. That was the first daddy/daughter lesson I taught her when she really started to talk. It’s the words of my soul…”

These two. I’m honestly not sure exactly how it happened, but I totally fell for this couple. They both had a little baggage, but finding each other actually provided an outlet to help heal each of them and allow them to move forward. This story has actually had some of the best quotes and I was seriously swooning at their conversation almost every other page!
“…Is it healed all the way yet?” she questions.
I take a deep breath and search her eyes, my hands tightening on her back. “Not until I met you,” I choke out, unable to believe I’m actually admitting this to her.
“I came here, because I was running from something. But then I met you, and I knew I wasn’t running. I was chasing. I was searching for you.”

Needless to say, now I have to go back and read about Kayla’s friend and her love connection, because I’m totally being absorbed into ALL the worlds that are crossing over into the Until world! Have I mentioned, yet, how much I’m loving this world?

I was pulled right into this super short story. The story has pain, and sweet love.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading them first if you want the full stories of the Until series by Aurora Rose Reynolds as these novellas take place in the same series:
Until November (Until, #1)
Until Trevor (Until, #2)
Until Lilly (Until, #3)
Until Nico (Until, #4)
Until July (Until Her #1)
Until Jax (Until Him #1)
Until June (Until Her #2)
Until Ashlyn (Until Her #3)
Until Sage (Until Him #2)
Until Harmony (Until Her #4)

This is Kayla and Jase’s story. Jase lost his wife and has just been raising his daughter. Kayla lost her family but trying to move on by going to the college her mother went to. When she moves into town she meets Jase when she is invited out. The sparks fly but can she get over the lost of her parents so she can move on to a life with Jase? Will she want to move on with someone like Jase? Will Jase want to start something that he could lose in the future?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

Another great read in the ARR Kindle World Happily Ever Alpha is with Until Kayla by CC Monroe . Kayla has had a trauma in her life and is in mourning. She decides to move to Tennessee for a new start to her life. Jase is single dad and widower who lost his wife. Kayla and Jase meet through Harlen and Harmony (Until Harmony by ARR). Harlen and Harmony are one of my favorite ARR couples so it was great to see them pop up in this story. It was great to read the instant chemistry that shows between Jase and Kayla. You know the minute Jase and Kayla experience the “BOOM”. I liked watching them both come to grips with the pain and tragedy and then together they fall head over heels in love. I enjoyed the BOOM factor and the insta love factor while also reading how they dealt with past in just the right way. This was a sweet and steamy romance novella perfectly fit for the ARR Happily Ever Alpha.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

This was a very sweet, romantic novella that is part of the Aurora Rose Reynolds' Happily Ever After Kindle World.

Kayla is an only child that lost both her parents in a tragic accident. She has no family, only two close friends, but even they have their own lives to live. Kayla has decided to move to Tennessee for college, to attempt to move on with her life.

Jason (or Jase, as he is known) is a man with his own tragic past. His life is moving forward, partially, but at a standstill in some ways.

When Jase and Kayla meet for the first time, the only way to describe it is pure magic! The instant connection between the two sent shivers down my back! This author has a way with words that is indescribable, and makes for an amazing story! This novella was a joy to read, and left me with feelings of hope and happiness!

So CC Monroe is my go-to author, I've got every book she has ever published and when I'm having a tough day I will pick one of her books and instantly feel like I'm talking to a good friend! She is also an automatic one-click for me, if her name is on it, I'm buying it! Simple!
Until kayla was another complete triumph! I loved the relationship between Kayla and Jase from the start, I have to confess I rarely read a book that makes me cry in the first chapter but I knew it would be ok in the end! If you get the opportunity to read this book then please do! you won't be able to put it down. I finished it in one sitting and I was sad as I wanted a redo! Jase is an awesome alpha who you can't help but fall in love with from the beginning and kayla! she is vulnerable and sweet, yet bold and sassy! they are a perfect mix and I loved every second of the read!
Well done CC 😍❤😍❤

I so enjoy reading the stories that are written in "Happily Ever Alpha World." The emotions, the "BOOM" and the HEA. They refresh the hope of love even in a romance book and C.C. Moore didn't disappoint.
Kayla had lost her parents to a car accident two years ago and lived alone in her childhood home with the memories of growing up her parents and without any new memories of them. Now she is moving to Tennesee for college. Her two best friends are going with her on the long drive and helping her to get settled.
Jase lost his wife to cancer, three years ago, leaving him to raise their two-year-old daughter, Avery, alone. With a daughter and a new business, he has no desire to date, even though his friends keep trying.
Then these two meet and "BOOM."

5 "Sassy" Stars

Well if this wasn't a wonderful read! I have only read one other book by CC Monroe so she is still a new Author to me. I am finding I enjoy her writing style of strong heroines and Alpha heroes who fall hard and fast.

Kayla and Jase are two people trying to live each day to its fullest and not let sadness from their past bring them down. From the beginning we see Kayla go from a girl just trying to be her fun-loving self again. Jase is happy for now but knows he is still missing something in his life.

When these two come together it is everything I hoped it would be. The "boom" is strong with these two. And that epilogue was, ahhhhh...so sweet and just melted my heart!

I enjoyed seeing characters from CC's other books and from Aurora Rose Reynold's Until Harmony - but you do not have to have read any of those books to enjoy Until Kayla.

I so wish this book was longer and was sad it had to end. I will definitely be reading more books from CC Monroe.

OMG no...look I like an insta love story as much as the next person but this was too over the top, it just became ridiculous. The virgin and the widower. Naming the daughter after the dead wife made me cringe HELL NO.

This book was less ten an hour of my time and honestly I’m fed up with these novellas that rush to a happy ending with nothing but fluff.

I love the original UNTIL series and follow Aurora Rose but some of these add ons are falling short and (like this one) missed the BOOM and busted.
