The Girl on Prytania Street

A hardnosed journalist. A missing daughter. A deadly betrayal. And a discovery that will turn the world on its head…

Kate Givens is a spunky, successful journalist at a major New York City newspaper with a nose for a good story… or was. When her teenage daughter went missing three years ago, the ground was pulled from under her and her life came crashing down.

Now a shadow of her former self, Kate spends too much time in the past, trying to find out what happened to her missing daughter. When she isn’t obsessing over the endless possibilities of the fate of her daughter, she is popping pills to cope with the pain.

She seems doomed to live a life of paranoia, pain and regret. But things change… in ways she’d never have dreamed of.
When she is sent to cover a story about another missing teenage girl from a prominent New Orleans family, it strikes a little too close to home, and she balks, but finally accepts the assignment. It is her last chance career-wise, after a string of professional blunders.

Thinking it would just be another routine question and answer session, she resigns herself for the task ahead, but for the first time, her instincts fail her. She’s in for a string of dark surprises, jarring revelations, most of which will bring her closer to solving the mystery of her own missing daughter.

Teaming up with an independent reporter, she begins to work on her story. But a chance encounter with a stranger will lead her to believe that there is more to the New Orleans story than meets the eye. What she doesn’t know is that she’s been set-up and betrayed in ways she’d never imagined.

Will Kate prevail in her mission to find out what happened to the missing girl from New Orleans… and her own daughter, or will her enemies find a way to silence her… for good?

The Girl on Prytania Street is an absolutely unputdownable psychological thriller full of surprising plot twists and refreshingly entertaining and complex characters with an extremely titillating storyline. Totally absorbing read!

This story kept me completely engrossed throughout. It played emotions like a violin! I was very impressed with the way the author brought forth the major problem with opiate addiction our country is facing, yet kept the storyline rolling along with suspense at the same time. And the twists and turns were fabulous! I am enamoured by this writer and their abilities to throw so many intriguing topics into one story so seamlessly! And all of the epic quotes from the great classics thrown in - amazing! Also the New Orleans setting and picturesque descriptions were so great! The cemetery especially for me, wow! And the final twist and subject matter of the mystery was not expected at all! Superb!

Holy wow....

Kira Saito never ceases to amaze me... I have loved all of her works so far but this one may top them all. I'm normally a paranormal reader but this book yanked my heart strings majorly. It for sure has a twist ending you never see coming. The story is somehow relatable even if you've never been through what the main characters experience. You feel like you're really part of the story. It almost feels more like an autobiography than a work of fiction.

WOW!

I rarely give a book 5 stars but this one deserves it! I found the main character's addiction issues disturbing and, indeed, the entire plot line, but it was a great read! I recommend this highly and caution that it may be difficult to absorb, but, unfortunately, I believe that this is more prevalent than we want to believe. The ending was a bit weak but, overall, a good book.I

The plot thickens...

What a great story.. different to what I've been reading recently. Very well written and great descriptive plot. I'm not in the habit of reviewing the characters and the story. That's for you the reader to decide. But I don't just give 5 stars to any old stories.... enjoy!

Great up til the end

Was very engrossing until r ridiculous over the top ending. I am not saying that selling children into pornography and sex rings is ridiculous, it happens, it's bad. Just saying the way the book wrapped it up with this was over the top, quite u pick and dirty, liked it til the last 14 pages

Great story

Exciting, nerve-wracking. I was drawn into Kate's drug confused world and never knew what was true until the very last pages. One big complaint: the proofreading was not well done. Spell check was used, but punctuation was random and sometimes completely incorrect. This book was like driving a Formula One racer down a street full of speed bumps.

Good athriller

I liked the character development although the protagonist was a bit overdeveloped. The writing was intriguing and well done. The ending was quick and a little twist.
I’d give this a 4 1/2 if they had that rsting.

Barely believable

This story was full of confusion and lies. The ending explained it all but was barely believable. It was well written and interesting however.
