Great history of the island, and the interaction between the French Haitian background and Spanish Dominican Republic.

Interesting quote: "And Naboth said to Ahab, The Lord forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee." I Kings, 21 v 3

Fascinating history of the DR. Frankly, there aren't many at all, but this is a very informative book even if written years ago.
