Unearth Me

Rate this book
Unearthing is the act of discovering something hidden, lost or kept secret by probing, investigating or digging. Kirklynn Sayers, 34-year-old renowned therapist of Huffington Mill, has mastered every aspect of her life except love. She refuses to refer to herself as a hopeless romantic, simply, because she’s lost interest in finding it, altogether. Unsympathetic about her shallow hopes of partnership, she buries the hatchet and focuses on creating a legacy and defying the stigma attached to therapists as herself. Heath Benedict, 26 years old and the newest heir of the Benedict throne, is still suffering from the death of his grandfather years prior. Though he was blessed with a budding empire as a result of it, Harold Benedict’s death unsealed wounds that he’d covered for Heath’s sanity and protection. Heath has the world at the tip of his fingers, but the feeling of inadequacy is keeping him from accessing it. From the day he took charge of Benedict and Associates, Heath has only been content with one aspect of the company... access to Kirklynn Sayers. He, soon, discovers that her wholesomeness is the key to unlock his sanity. While she tries to solve his issues of inadequacy through treatment, Heath reveals that there’s only one way to heal him. Submission. Kirklynn refuses to submit and jeopardize her career, leaving Heath with no choice but to force his hand. Journey through a story of uncertainty as the two struggle to unearth their most sacred aspirations while undressing one another in the process.

This is one of Grey's earlier books and unfortunately it showed.

The story, character development, and flow were lacking. It was disjointed. This was a BDSM story and I was underwhelmed. It was steamy, but typical. What I love most about Grey is her original storytelling, strong mmcs, and her ability to make you connect to the characters and her signature was missing.

This was an age gap story with the fmc being 8 years older. She breaks hippa laws discussing her patient and then decides to enter an arrangement with him to help heal him? okay girl that makes a lot of sense 😑 Despite him not treating her like anything but a sex toy she falls in love with him and his dominance. Their love story wasn't believable and the ending was subpar. Lastly, I disliked when she repeated an entire scene that happened earlier in the book, um I did read that part already😕.

Sn: I loved the cover and it was a good reflection of the book.

I needed something different to read, something outside of my vanilla romance stories I needed Unearth Me by Grey. I love reading books about bondage and discipline, and this one was right up my alley. I relished how Grey incorporated B&D with therapy, and although it wasn't Kirklynn Sayers's specialty, she became a specialist in her own right. Heath Benedict was in search of something, and unknowingly it wasn't what he thought it was when he walked through Kirklynn's doors. Heath had many layers and Kirklynn was determined to Unearth them. Grey has a way of making you feel connected to her heroine and heroes in her books, and with this one, you will quickly fall in love with their journey and personal growth. Debunking the stereotype that black men don't seek out therapy was refreshing to read in this book. The best part was that they both Unearthed something in each other that they weren't anticipating.

Grey had me swiping my Kindle every time they entered The Nook and The Cranny, anticipating what was going to happen next. I couldn't get enough of these two if I didn't have to wake up early the next morning I would have finished it in one sitting. I liked them so much that I purchased Sex Therapy a candle by Grey to help remind me of these two and the fun they had. This book is one of my new obsessions

I need a drink after this one

Heath, Heath, Heath I could feel his masculinity through the pages. Kirklynn didn't stand a chance with him. I loved how she wanted to help him deal with his issues, make him see his worth, fight through his brokenness. He was a complicated, but simple man who needed direction, reassurance that he was worthy. He took that step, definitely would love to read more from them.

I bought this book on a lark and I'm so happy that I did. Now I must add Grey Huffington to my list of Automatic Buy Authors!! That's five and growing!!!

This book dealt with some serious ug sly deep issues, but in a caring a way d thoughtful manner, BUT D***, I have to admit, that ish threw me for a loop!!! Great book with likable characters. Hopefully the writer will revisit them in future works.

Buy it N read it and enjoy!!👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥

Wow

When I opened this, I wasn't expecting all of this. This was great. I wonder why his grandmother thinks what she thinks tho. I don't know if they need another book, but the two friends need a book. I did think she was go end up pregnant, but didn't happen. They can have a follow up in the book with the two friends. This read had me, WHEW!!!

Heath x Kirklynn

Kirklynn was just a different kind of GH character than I'm used to. Women typically need to be "saved" or loved in her book. Kirk could use some love, but she enjoys exploring love from others POV. & Then here comes Heath who has had his eye on Kirk for a good min, but he also needs to get some things off his chest. These two were so good together & the energy was everything. I didn't think that Kirklynn would relinquish control as easily as she did, but she needed it. I loved that she was able to encourage Heath that he needed love & deserved love. It hurt my heart for him to push her away, but I understand that he was in his head. I was glad they were able to get it together her.

Now, I have read BDSM books & I love me some Grey. But I don't think her writing style correlated with this trope. It was still good, but I couldn't get into the sex with them. It just seemed really vanilla & trying too hard.

Heath & Kirklynn.

What I liked about this story, was that when they didn’t work out initially— it was a nasty break up. And often times authors don’t get to or show the negative about their characters even in those types of situations.
He dogged her — I was cussinggggg !!
But she told him the unwavering truth and cut him even deeper.
I liked that.
Also like how he came back and owned his error and they talked in the purest way. That’s how it happens sometimes.
It’s messy. It’s bad. It’s hurtful.
And you might not want to forgive them — but for LOVE. 💗
Ohhh for Grace!

The kinky shxt was the kinky shxt. Not my tea but I get it.
Unearth me.

Oh and I like how over the small time they had, parts of him drifted into the foreground and made him slightly human.
There were patches in the story — things I wanted more detail in but I won’t dwell.

Overall, a good one.

first things first

As a reader it’s easy to be hyper critical of an author’s work without understanding where they started from. As an author, it’s difficult to bot be lenient. In general a middle ground is necessary. With that said, let the record show this is not Mercy’s starting point. Having read her other books before she took the pseudonym of Grey, I expected more. I found this book boring and difficult to digest. The character development was fair, but I found the plot lacking. This felt like the black reconstruction of Fifty Shades. While I am not opposed to reconstructions -having done them myself as an author- this felt like the cheap knockoff. It’s “do” not “due” and for Christ sake, specify who is who when writing the dialogue between your characters!

Needed More of an Emotional Connection

Listen, I love Grey's books. Most of them are short and sexy, short and sweet, short and hotAF!🔥🔥 And I actually don't mind reading about BDSM, but I usually still feel an emotional connection to the characters. I hated what Heath went through growing up and understood why he was so guarded. What he was trying to do to satisfy a need to feel something other than the pain from the loss of his grandfather and fight against the betrayal of his father--I get it. But something just didn't click for me. The scenes were hot, and Kirklynn was a good heroine but this read left me a little empty at the end.

Let the Unearthing Begin!!!!

OMGGGGGGGGG yesssssss I loved every minute of Unearth Me. Heath was something else but Kirklyn was his perfect match. To hear his story and what he went through broke my heart but Kirklyn was summit to his life for the right reasons and showed him that it was okay to love. I loved the fact that he realized his mistake and came back for what and who he fell in love with. I would love some more on Heath and Kirklyn because there story was unbelievable. Great read Grey

🌶️🌶️🌶️ Great read!!!!

This is my first read by this author, but it will definitely not be my last. I was engaged from the beginning. It was hot and heavy. The main characters in this story brought life into each other. I would have loved to read more about them. I would love to see where they are now and what they are doing. Hand clap 👏🏾 for this beautiful story Ms. G. I can't wait to delve into more of your work. Do yourselves a favor and read the damn book.

I really enjoyed Kirklynn and Heath! He was damaged goods with the need to dominate after being violated as a child! When love entered into the equation he couldn't accept it until he couldn't stand the separation, then he came to claim the love he so desperately needed! Kirklynn needed to break away from being so closed off to explore her true sexual being, Heath helped her to become submissive and free! It ended up being a great story!

Tables turned

Dr Sayer first thought she was only going to be Heath’s therapist but quickly found out that he was really looking for a submissive to help with his control issues. His childhood trauma really had him looking at their arrangement the wrong way. Glad he finally realized after some time apart that he did deserve love and love from her specifically. Overall great read

Amazing read!

Whew... now that I have calmed down I must say this book was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Heath had my nerves going haywire. It broke my heart that he felt he didn’t deserve to be happy. To think that after all he had done to get Kirklynn to submit he was willing to throw it away. I was so happy he came to his senses.

Yes!!!!! Grey has done it again. The book started off slow....real slow, but around 30% it started to pull me in and I could not put it down! Kirklynn choice to say yes was the highlight of reading this book because that’s when all the good freaky stuff happened. When lines got blurred and love crossed into the equation. I was hoping for the best. The story ended now I imagined. Fantastic job.

An awakening

Kirklynn is the consummate professional who doesn’t realize she is seeking anything special until she meets Heath. Heath is sexy, dominate and young. Heath seeks Kirklynn out but his motives change quickly. I must say although unexpected this was my favorite book thus far by this author!!!! Please give us more of this couple.

Wow when I started this book I wasn’t expecting what was really going on. Loved the characters but Heath was something else but he cane around in the end and now I believe Kirkland is going to unearth him. Great read Grey. Would love to know if Henning and Dagger ever made it to LOTUS and what happened.

Good Book

This book was intense. Heath has some stuff with him. How can a father do that to his son. He really needed therapy. Kirklynn was his therapist who was helping him. They started messing around and she fell in love with him. I need to read more about this couple. Good book.

I wanted more of Heath & Kirklynn- Grey does it every 👏🏾 single 👏🏾 time 👏🏾 ma’am. Childhood trauma, age gap, friendships, therapy, communication and trust. This was my first BDSM novel, but it was done in a way that didn’t turn me off. Once Heath fell he was a goner. I love Kirklynn vulnerability and femininity. Those damn grillz had me blushing, but the trauma pulled at my heart.

Kirk I’m disappointed!!

I loved this book 🩷. Grey knows how to write a story chile. I just wished Kirk stood on business in the end. He made you wait two months, had you emotionally in distress just for you to fold cause he miss you lol. Nonetheless this was a good heartfelt read. I’m glad the ending was happy.

Wow!

Grey is becoming a favorite of mine. Her characters have depth and she does an amazing job of telling their stories. She also has a sense of humor! When the candy lady called Kirklynn Hannah Montana, I lost it! I want more on Kirklynn and Heath. Their story is far from over.

This was everything that I had imagined it to be! I’m so happy that Heath came to his senses before it was too late, although they way he dominated her I don’t think it would have ever been too late!!

If there is more in this story, please give it!!!

So so

I hate what Heath experienced in his childhood, but I didn't care for his attitude. I felt a disconnect between the characters, even though Kirklynn revealed her emotions more. This book was so so to me and wasn't as good as the other books written by this author.
