She was mine-the daughter of the man my father owned. And I claimed every part of her. Because Gianna Carlini had always belonged to me. But someone wanted her more. Someone far more powerful and dangerous than a Mafia Prince like me. She was a pawn in my world, a bargaining chip to be used when the time was right. I just didn't know it. Not until it was too late...

NEW COVERS! THIS IS AN EPIC TALE. I FEEL IT!

Book 1 of 4.
Blurb:
Once upon a time, I fell in love with a blue-eyed boy who promised me forever.
We fell hard and fast, even though our relationship was forbidden.
Loving Angelo Morelli wasn’t my first sin.
It wouldn’t be my last.
Our families were friends before they were enemies, fighting for power in the city.
I was their bargaining chip, a pawn to be used by the most powerful men in Philadelphia.
I just didn’t know it.
Angelo was my white knight in a world full of darkness.
But someone had to pay for the sins of the past.
Too bad that person was me.

Books in Sins of the Past series should be read in order:
Book 1: The First Sin
Book 2: The Ultimate Sin
Book 3: The Next Sin
Book : The Final Sin

I wasn't sure what made the story of Angelo and Gianna so forbidden, but I more than enjoyed getting wrapped up in their love. It was intense, insane, immature and glorious. They grew up together and became an official couple at a very young age and there was no doubt that they completed each other. For ones so young, it was surprising how certain they were in their love. However, Angelo is set to fulfill his destiny and in the process, it is changing him and molding him into a colder, more vicious version of himself. Gianna is his anchor, his light in the dark. And he's her white knight in a world of bad.

I've finally had the chance to read something from Jillian Quinn and there's absolutely no going back. While these characters irritated me at times, while parts of the story seemed repetitive, and while I wished for a bit more substance, I was entertained and I couldn't ask for more. Her writing grabbed me and the world she created here made me want to get even deeper into the story. And with one heck of a cliffhanger, I'm excited to get to the next book in the series!

"Gianna Carlini was the only girl who ever made my black heart beat."

The First Sin was my first book by Jillian and I dove in blindly. Lately I realized this is the best way to read a book: without expectations. And I got rewarded with a whirlwind of a lovestory in the dark world of the Mafia.

"He was my white knight in a world full of darkness."

As soon as you meet Gianna and Angelo you see these two are made for each other. It's so obvious it jumps right out of the pages. Their bond was probably sealed before they were even born. And even though they are pretty young, life already made them grow far beyond their age.

"Because he was also my addiction, one I would never kick. Even if he would be the death of me."

Gianna is the sun to Angelo's night. She's the one soul who keeps him sane the more he gets drawn into his father's world. Their chemistry is off the charts and this leads to some pretty hot and steamy scenes that makes you fan yourself.

"He kissed me as if I was his last breath, and he wanted to steal it back."

But not also are the main characters intriguing, so are also the side kicks. For example Angelo's brothers who seem far more darker than they might be on their inside. But you can't really grab them. Never know what they are really thinking.
And then there is Sonny, I felt drawn to him - kind of. He seems fiercely loyal to Angelo and is clearly in love with Gianna. But where does this leave him? The cliffhanger at the end makes you - as well as Angelo - question this even more.

"He was so much more than just the son of a Mafia boss to me. But we were a bad combination."

The First Sin is dark, action packed and intense. Jillian's writing will grab you and won't let you go until you turned the last page. It's writing was so lively I almost felt like watching it as TV show. So if you are up to a fantastic, wild and hot ride in the dark world, this is definitely your book!

"He made me beg, he made me come, but most of all, he made me his."

Oohhh another new author for me to stalk I mean follow. This is my first read and definitely not my last read by this author as I loved this story.

Gio and Angelo are both from mafia families. They’ve loved each other since they were very young. Their love was forbidden but it never stopped them.

This is a great read and I’m delighted it’s part of a series as I wanna read loads more of Angelo and Gio. I read this late one night. Just one more chapter ended up me reading the whole book. A great read and can’t wait to read more.

Damn talk about a plot twist!!
This was my first Jillian Quinn read and if won't be my last.
This book was great, it was action packed, sinfully sexy, and intense. It's not as dark as it's made to be.
Angelo and Gianna both grew up with Mafia families. They have loved each other since they were 10. Their chemistry is hot, their love is fierce.
Can these two survive the obstacles thrown their way?
That ending damn it I want more. Can't wait for the next book.

Gio and Angelo are the Bonny and Clyde of the mafia world. From hell raising teens performing jobs that would make grown men cry to ruthless adults with a thirst for power and wealth.

I wasn’t overly fond of the beginning of the story. I’m aware mafia kids grew up a lot faster than the average kid. I can only define Gio and Angelo’s teen years as a porn movie with several sides of violence.

The story leveled out midway resulting in an action filled mafia story! I’m so pleased I stayed the course to the end. What an adrenaline rush! Angelo is truly a man of his world!

Four stars!

I love, love a good mafia read and The First Sin has everything I love lies, betrayal, love and of course a sexy AF man Angelo( sigh). Angelo & Gianna grew up together and it was love at first sight, nothing could tear them apart. But when enemies arise no one is safe. Angelo & Gia had me hooked from page one and I’m dying to know what’s going to happen in The Ultimate Sin.

This is my favorite book that Jillian Quinn and I can’t wait for the next one. I’m a huge fan of Mafia books so this fit the bill perfectly. This is a bit darker and grittier then I’m use by her but she totally owned me the entire time.

The connection between Angelo and Gia was intense and draws you in beginning to end. These two are die hard for one another but all is not what it seems behind the scenes. This is a book should dive into and enjoy without much detail, trust me you will love it!!

Solid start to a new series. The beginning was a bit rough as the author showed the couple from a young age. They are already in love so there was no watching it blossom. It was straight porn in the beginning. Lol. I was into it at first but needed more.

The author gets her footing and then the real mafia elements took place. Action and danger.

I had some issues with the story overall but not enough to stop me with continuing to the next book. That ending was good.

description

Well, well, well, that was a pleasantly suspenseful surprise. This is my first by this author and a book one in the series. This is dark/mafia book with one hell of a "who done it?" at the end.

Gia and Angelo have been together forever and during that forever a lot about their lives has changed. Angelo is the youngest member of a mafia family. His father has trained Angelo and his brothers since birth to take of the empire he has created. The training has been brutal and unkind on the psyche. But Angelo has always had Gia there to remind him that he is not all black and does have some good left in him.

Gia was also born into this life, just a different side of it. Her father and Angelo's father are best friends and while her father's hands are certainly not clean, he isn't quite into the dark dealing of the mafia. He is to become a political player and on the outside leads a pretty legitimate life. Gia has stepped in to help her father's business while he does his political thing, but as she is slowly learning, their business is a lot dirtier that she always thought. And trying to figure out where his loyalties lie could get someone killed.

During most of this book there is a war brewing between two families and for the most part, all of the bad things that happen are because of this war. And then things start to not add up. And now the "bad guy" could be anyone and regardless of who it turns out to be, there is bound to be a lot of blood flowing. And I cannot wait to find out!

I liked the flow of this book, it moved fast but the pieces we were given were all important to the overall story. There are some I don't think we know quite where they fit in yet. I liked that I was left with a number of possibilities with no clear answer in site. I liked that Gia was a unique character who relished in the violence and she never waivers from her choices. Angelo is one step away from soulless but Gia keeps him grounded, even though she is a deviant herself. I can't wait to find out what is in store.

All consuming and enthralling....

I am currently going through a mafia reading spree, and I am always eager to find my next favorite series in the genre.... This first in a duet is a strong contender.....The premise is intriguing and the characters who are all morally bankrupt exhibit bonds of loyalty and love that somehow make the inexcusable more acceptable.

The relationship between the two main characters Angelo and Gia is both passionate and obsessive; they have been together since childhood and there is no one else for them... but they exist in a world of violence and criminality and even the strongest bonds can be broken under relentless brutality.....

The perspective of both Angelo and Gia is provided... in the case of Angelo this is particularly insightful because it demonstrates the spiralling path he is being led down and the effect it has on his demeanour and personality.... Angelo and Gia are products of their upbringing both smart, tough and in love... he has secrets and his hands are ‘dirty’..and she is a thrill-seeker and desperate to be part of Angelo’s life....the supporting cast provide shades of light and dark and whilst many are truly wicked and avaricious they all bring more breadth and depth to the story....

This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I was completely engrossed in the plot.... the author’s voice makes for easy reading, and the book is well written: filled with intrigue, great plot development, and plenty of heat....

I do have one niggling criticism: I was not a fan of the prologue, which described events that were to play out later on...this to me was an unnecessary spoiler and eliminated some of the growing suspense....it was a bit like a television programme where key highlights are broadcasted in the introductory titles...

That said...this story was all consuming and enthralling...as the first in the series, a cliffhanger concludes the book, but thankfully the next in the series follows close behind, and the fates of our characters, whilst hanging in the balance, will be determined imminently...Summer’s Eve Reads received an advanced copy of this book.

A Bonnie and Clyde kind of love.
Two families connected to the world of crime who were on the same side, until greed split them.
In the middle there were two young persons who grew up together, and had loved each other forever.

Angelo Morelli was the youngest son, and the one who did the dirty work. His older siblings, Pietro "Peter" and Marco, liked to remind Angelo that as a member of a famous mafia family he could not have weaknesses. And Angelo had a well-known weakness. Gia.

Gianna Carlini had her father, Lorenzo, a strong ally of the Morelli family.
Lorenzo even applied to City Council with the goal of giving Morelli more space to perform.
But Lorenzo did not like to see his daughter involved with the youngest Morelli, even if he could do little about it.

As Angelo and Gia grow older, they have plans for the future.
Angelo would be the first in the family to go to college. But his work meant that he could devote little time to his studies.
Meanwhile, Angelo prevented Gia from getting involved in his work (she liked the adrenaline of danger) and devote herself to law school.

Gia discovers certain aspects within the corruption that would have been better that she did not know, and because of that she becomes a new target for the enemies.

She was Angelo Morelli's girlfriend. She was the daughter of a corrupt politician. She knew too much.
But who was the real enemy and who was the hero?

Intense and raw, The First Sin left me breathless. Angelo and Gia are well rounded characters. They each have their flaws. When they come together, they combust. They have insane chemistry, and a lot of history between them. Their love and connection is strong. I was completely sucked into these two. Their relationship is gritty and isn't easy, but their love for each other is.

The story Ms. Quinn crafted had me unable to put the book down. It was dark, but not too dark. The First Sin was well written, paced quickly, and left with a cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the conclusion.

A gritty read that was every bit as enthralling as the blurb led me to believe it would be.
An opposite attracts story in every possible sense of the term, this is the story of Angelo and Gianna, a couple that grew up on opposing sides of the Mafia divide, from powerful, dangerous families they had every reason to steer well clear of each other, but their hearts refused to listen to the words that others whispered, No, quite simply wasn’t in their vocabulary and whilst what they did have was far from normal, it was about as normal as their situation would allow!
I felt as if I was totally absorbed in the intensity of what their lives brought to the story, the anguish that the pressures of their families brought to bear and the weight of expectation that life continued to exude. I didn’t believe that they could have it all, the risk was too great but that didn’t mean that they were prepared to stop trying and it didn’t mean that the author was listening to my qualms, because she gave them a story that was full to the brim with not just their love and passion but also the dangerous reality of life around them.
I thought the author worked cleverly with the layers of not only story but characters that she created, there was sex and sin and it was all joyfully glorious, but that was partly tempered by an unquantifiable mystery that ran parallel to their connection and of everything that was going on it was that mystery, that uncertainty that piqued my interest most.
As I have come to expect from this author this was written with absolute authority, it cut no corners and gave its characters a storyline that was every bit as extraordinary as they could have hoped for. With more in the series to follow, I would only say that this is one that you will not want to miss.
Highly recommended.

“I never prayed. Sinners didn’t pray. But I needed someone to hear my pleas, have mercy on my soul.
Absolve me of my sins.
My father’s sins. The sins of our past.”

A Mafia romance this story starts at the middle and works it way back. How did we reach this pivotal point in the story and who are Gia and Lo? Angelo is the youngest sibling in a Mafia family, raised to continue the business and hardened to become a monster in guise of a civilised man by his father. He is different to his siblings as he has found his grounding and is rooted by his love for Gia and his best friend Sonny. Surrounded by unconditional love from his chosen and his mother Angelo is a misfit in his world. Striving to gain some degree of separation from the family business he fights to go to college and become a lawyer and to protect his love for her. Seen as a weakness Gia finds herself as collateral in a war she was unaware of.

This is a murky story of backhand deals, favours that can only be paid in blood and death. Yet in amongst the violence and cruelty love and loyalty bloom not out of fear or control but because they respect one another and are faithful to their feelings. It’s a powerful story as Lo is honed by his family to become one man whilst Gia steadies him enough to save the man he truly is. The plot twists and turns and it’s never clear which battle is fought and won or loss as there’s more at play than meets the eye. The ending made me so very happy I had the next book in the series to dive into. This was definitely a slow burn with lots of passion and steamy sex scenes but it set the stage to introduce us into the world of the Morelli’s. It’s dark, it’s raw and often violent. I loved it!

A four and a half star sinful read.

Gia and Angelo have known each other forever. It was inevitable that they fell in love. But this is not an ordinary romance. And this is not a normal couple. Gia and Angelo flirt with the dark side and outlaw. He is an heir to the Mafia. All he knows and all he has been taught is to prepare him for his place in the "family business." There is no choice in his life. And there is no escape.
Gia has a "more normal" life. His father is a wealthy businessman, who treats her like a princess, but deep down he is not the normal business man, he also has a connection with the Mafia. Gia knows exactly who Angelo is and what he does. And that adrenaline and danger excites her. Their relationship has a Bonnie and Clyde vibe.
The book is packed with action and adrenaline. The couple has an undeniable chemistry, and dangerous situations are triggers for the two to celebrate indulging in desire. Hot scenes are present in the book.
Angelo, despite claiming he has no choice, likes the power his position offers him. Killing is not a problem. Only in one situation will you see a more human and hesitant side of him. Gia is what keeps him centered, acting as his strength, but at the same time is his great weakness. It's what makes him vulnerable, and he knows her protection is essential, because whoever wants to hit him will use her to affect him.
In a plot with such controversial characters, no one is safe, everyone is dangerous. The book presents several twists, makes the reader question if everyone is who they appear. The ending ends in a cliffhanger, leaving you curious to know the conclusion and who will be the great villain.

Omg!!! I don’t want to wait for the next book! This book is a definite 5 Star mafia book that will leave you guessing, it is raw, it is real and it will make you want to find yourself a made man!

Angelo is the son of the boss and has been raised his whole life knowing two things; one is that he has no real Choice is how his life will turn out and the second is that Gianna is the woman put on this earth for him. His life is not nice, it’s not clean, it’s actually dirty and pretty messed up but it is the life of a made man and for some reason Gia loves it!

Gianna has loved Angelo from the moment when she was 5 and he helped her jump off the swings at school. She loves all sides of him and doesn’t care about the violence, but she doesn’t love those that come with him. When she thinks about her future, he is the only consistent thing she sees.

When the tragedy hits close to home and secrets are suddenly revealed, trust starts to diminish, plots unfold and everything you thought you knew becomes a lie. Now it is a race against time to uncover the truth and protect those you love. But will they be able to survive when the hits keep coming?

You should definitely start reading now so that when the next book comes you are ready. This is one you don’t want to miss!

Angelo and Gianna have cared for one another since they were children, but when you come from opposing mafia families it's darn near impossible to have any sort of a normal relationship, but they have done their best to make it work. But, not without many obstacles being thrown their way... there are expectations to be met, danger and enemies always lurking, and meddling families to deal with and these two constantly feel like they are being pulled apart. They are determined to spend their lives with one another though, and will do just about anything it takes to make it happen, even if it's sinful!

The First Sin is a gritty little tale that is riddled with passion, sin, danger, and heartbreaking drama that will keep you on the enthralled from start to finish! I must admit I am usually one to skip over mafia reads, because they've never really been my thing, but after reading this one I might have to take a second look at them. I really enjoyed this newest offering from Ms. Quinn, it had her trademark heartfelt drama and uber steamy sexy times, but it also brought along a hint of intriguing mystery that kept me perched on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what she has in store for these wonderful characters next, if it's anything like this one I'm sure I will enjoy it immensely! Highly recommend this one, it's a dark and steamy tale that is sure to leave romance readers thrilled!!

The First Sin is the first book in a brand new series by Ms. Quinn, The Sins of the Past, and it’s a dark mafia book with a cliffhanger! Gia and Angelo have loved each other since they were five years old. While they live in this dark, twisted world filled with made men, blood, and death, the light in both of their lives is each other. There’s old friends, territory wars, and underneath everything, an unknown danger that has Gia and Angelo trusting only a select few. But with plays of old and new players in these mafia wars, can Gia and Angelo’s love survive, or will they be torn apart due to the sins of their fathers?

Oh. My. Holy. Smokes!! This book is amazing! There are a lot of twists and turns and secrets that have you changing the pages as fast as you can read them! I did not put this book down. I loved how Gia believes in her happily ever after with Angelo with her whole heart. She really fights for her dreams. Angelo knows his duty is to his family, but his heart only belongs to Gia. I love the lengths that he goes to in order to keep Gia as safe as can be. I love that they are each other’s light in their dark worlds, but they are also the perfect messed up for each other’s dark needs, too! Please note that this book DOES end with a cliffhanger, which I’m dying to read the next book as soon as possible! I’m definitely rooting a happy ending for Gia and Angelo and definitely can’t wait to reveal more secrets!

In this book we have Angelo Morelli, a blue eyed mobsters son. Angelo is very loyal to his family, friends and to Gianna - Gia. Gia & Angelo have been together since they were in preschool. Angelo first kissed her when they were 5. There father's are best friends. His father, is a mobster, and her father is a business man. They have been best friends their whole lives. Angelo has 3 other brothers, but, he is the first in the family to go to college, and to law school. He is following Gia through college and law school, so, it benefits them both.

Gia is the daughter of a business man, who is also best friends with a mobster. Gia & Angelo have always been together. Gia knows what the family business is and she's always gone along on ride-along, stealing cars in their youth, but, after she turns a certain age, Angelo refuses to let her go along with him and the other boys. Angelo is looking out for her, no mater how hard Gia protests.

Gia & Angelo were made for each other. Gia gets off on what Angelo does -- good or bad. Gia's father tries to get her away from Angelo by asking the Irish mobsters to watch Gia. Even having another mobster watch her can't stop Angelo from seeing her, from having her.

Twists & turns are throughout this book. Gia tries to 'break' up with Angelo, but, only lasts about 3 weeks before she craves him.

I did receive this book as a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review I am freely leaving.

This is quite an exciting, edge of you seat, start to a new series by the brilliant Jillian Quinn that has me fully hooked, and craving the next book like I do coffee in the mornings! I wish I could say that I know what's going on, but honestly, I have no clue, just that there's so many twists swirling around that all I'm capable of doing is dropping f-bombs at this point, but since amazon frowns upon that language, I'll give a very brief overview about my experience. It all starts when Gia falls in love with a boy named Angelo Morelli, who is born to a powerful mob family. They aren't going to be torn apart, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have many choices in life. So they grow up being together, and when that mob life takes over, they make the allowances, but together as nothing will tear them apart in a world filled with darkness. And that's all I have folks. Just know that on top of all those twists, there is darkness galore, crazy sexy times that defy any vanilla leanings, very questionable secondaries, violence in spades, and finally a cliffy ending that has me adding the talented Ms. Quinn to the list of authors trying to KILL ME DEAD, hash tagging her FOREVERMORE, #EVILWHORE! So now all of that above leaves me waiting VERY IMPATIENTLY for the next book, but in the meantime, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

The First Sin by Jillian Quinn was a fantastic dark beginning to her new series. I was engrossed in the plot from the first chapter. The book is filled with intrigue, plenty of heat and a great storyline.

Gia and Angelo have been together from a young age. While they have seen and done things that most young adults don’t experience, and through it all they have always had each other to show that their lives and love are not all that black, and they do have some good left in them.

Their love for each other is both passionate and obsessive, it was the best part of the story. How far are they prepared to go for their love? Its safe to say that their love will be put to the ultimate test.

During most of the book, we learn that there is a war brewing between two families. Friendships are pushed to the extreme. I loved this element to the storyline, while it is a mafia love story we start to learn about things that just don’t seem to add up, you start questioning people’s motives. Who is the ‘bad guy’?

I enjoyed the flow of this book, it had a good pacing of intrigue and romance. We are given important pieces, while they may not make sense in this book, help to set up the second book in the series.

A word of warning, this book is left on a cliff-hanger, so you will have to read onto the next book in the series to find out what happens and how all the pieces in the puzzle fit. A fantastic start to a new mafia series, that is helping to keep my craving at bay.

This was a fantastic story with twists and turns, suspense, betrayal, danger, and passion. The writing and the characters captured my attention and kept me turning the pages. Gianna (Gia) and Angelo grew up together, were each others' first and only love, and were planning a future together. They were a passionate couple and their sex scenes were hot. However, growing up in the mafia wasn't easy, especially as they (specifically Angelo) got pulled more into the family action. Life was dangerous, but became even more so as it got more difficult to know who to trust. Angelo and Gia were fiercely protective of each other and nothing or no one could keep them apart. The story ends in a huge cliffhanger with Gia in trouble and a mystery as to who put her there. I can't wait to read what happens next and am so glad I don't have to wait long. I would definitely recommend reading this one for anyone who likes mafia romance!

This is an awesome dark, sexy, mafia crime love story that will keep you hooked to the pages about a couple Angelo and Gianna from Philly. These two have been friends and lovers since they were children and talked about being married to one another for years. The only problem is, is their family and the line of business they are in. But this hasn’t stopped Angelo and Gia from setting their own relationship ablazed. The sex is hotter than the Fourth of July, it’s non stop, aggressive, some would say abusive. But it is starting to cause questions between the lovers and the families and wars among the crime families. Things are not going right and people are on edge and questions are being raised between themselves and others. This book is strictly for adults. A cool shower may be necessary. I offered to read this for my honest review. And I would recommend it to readers who enjoy alittle bit of excitement in their reading.

Wow, what a mafia book!

I absolutely LOVE Gia and Angelo together. I think they work really well as a couple and are the same amount of fucked up.

The ending will get you. I am DYING to read The Ultimate Sin, now, because I HAVE to know who did it. I can't say anymore without giving it away, but WHO DID IT???

I wasn't too emotionally invested into this book, but I did really enjoy it. The editing was flawless, I didn't see any errors, and I edit, so I usually see everything.

I did not like, however, that at the beginning, after every chapter, an amount of time passed, whether it be months, weeks, or years. I kind of wanted it to stay the same throughout, but I get it. We had to see their relationship grow.

You have me hooked, Jillian Quinn. I can't wait for The Ultimate Sin!

I went into this book with out reading the description because the title First Sin really intrigued me. I was happy with what I got. This is a fast paced mafia/mob type read with a Romeo and Juliet type feel. The romance made me swoon. While Angelo was on the darker side and Gia was right there with him, it was a tame dark to me. (I know that some won’t think that, but it wasn’t a pitch black dark read.). It was dark but could have been darker, steamy and kinky but could have been more detailed. I still really enjoyed it. It sucked me in and I read it in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen with these characters. The twists and turns kept coming and have me scratching my head because I can’t figure anything out. It does end in a cliffhanger, and it was huge, but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next. 4 stars #2OCCJD
