Rate this book
Equip yourself to present and defend the claims of the Christian faith and the truths of the Bible. For more than forty years, Evidence That Demands a Verdict has convinced skeptics of the Bible's reliability, helped believers articulate their faith, and given them the vital facts they need to defend God's Word and lead others to faith in Jesus. In this video Bible study (DVD/video streaming sold separately), based on the completely updated and expanded apologetics classic, Josh McDowell and his son, Sean, focus on Jesus and the Gospels. Learn how the books of the New Testament came into being and why you can be sure they are historically reliable. Examine why the claims Jesus made about himself are true, how he fulfilled Old Testament prophecies about himself, and how we can know the resurrection took place. This study is for anyone who has ever been stumped by arguments against Christianity or the Bible—or has wondered for themselves if the Bible's depiction of Jesus is true and not just a made-up fairytale. Bought this book as a gift for an atheist retired policeman friend of mine who wants to see evidence for Christ.

A quick and easy read that covers the basics.

Praying it will chink the armour!

This book is an exhaustive treasure trove, offering a wide range of information. Whether you're a curious learner or a researcher, you'll likely find what you're looking for within its pages. However, this abundance can be both a blessing and a curse – it's not a book to be devoured in one sitting, as the sheer volume of content can be overwhelming.

To get the most out of it, use the index to pinpoint specific topics and read accordingly. This approach makes it a valuable reference guide.

For Indian readers, the price tag of ₹3,300+ may be prohibitively expensive. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend spending that amount, considering the same information is readily available online. A simple Google search can yield similar results.

I was fortunate enough to access an e-copy online, which made my experience more enjoyable. If you're interested in this book, consider exploring digital options or alternative resources.

It is ideal for researchers or enthusiasts with specific interests; not recommended for casual readers or those on a budget.

Evidence That Demands a Verdict Bible Study Guide: Jesus and the Gospels offers a well-researched exploration of the historical evidence for Jesus and the Gospels. It’s a valuable resource for those looking to deepen their faith through intellectual rigor, with thought-provoking insights perfect for both personal and group study.

However, the book can feel a bit dry due to its length and heavy focus on facts. Additionally, it tends to assume Christianity needs to be proven, which might not resonate with readers who believe faith thrives alongside doubt. It also lacks sufficient engagement with opposing viewpoints, which could provide a more balanced perspective.

Overall, despite these critiques, the guide remains a useful and informative tool for those seeking a deeper understanding of the Gospels.

Dr McDowell definitely had my mind running with the sound logic… however I had hoped the book would have more scientific value included with the biblical conclusions.

This book is very long and very academic. I enjoyed the first half about evidence for Jesus and for the Bible even tho it was more in depth that I initially was looking for. The 2nd half however went way over my head. I ended up skimming at the end just to finish bc I didn’t feel like I was learning things that were beneficial for my own faith other than having knowledge for knowledge sake.
