A Perfect Book for Parents and Children

Dinosaurs are a fascinating topic and one children are never tired of hearing about. Bestselling children’s author Michelle Medlock Adams has combined this keen interest with the Bible for the excellent DINOSAUR DEVOTIONS. Seventy-five different types of dinosaurs are explored in this well-written book. With two colorful pages on each dinosaur, the information is packed into these pages. It is the perfect tool to stir conversation and education.

A short Bible verse is followed with a brief devotion, Dino Stats (fascinating details b about the dinosaur), Did you know (a thought-provoking question), Digging Deeper (more questions to discuss), and Jurrasic Journaling (a practical application). This book is carefully researched and contains excellent information. I highly recommend DINOSAUR DEVOTIONS.

f you have a dinosaur lover in your house than you need to buy this book, even if your kids aren't that into dinosaurs (it will come with time, believe me!) I recommend this book.

My 3 year old LOVES dinosaur and this book is fascinating for both of us! Admittedly a bit of it over her head but I am amazed how despite the content and depth she is more than happy to listen to me read it to her and it brings up some great conversations.

It is so rare to find a dinosaur book that has a Christian spin so that is what absolutely thrills me about this book, learning about dinosaurs and incorporating Christ? This book is a dream!

I cannot recommend it enough as it will certain enchant and fascinate your young reader, regardless of the age!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

My Review:

The best book of devotions for your little dino loving girl or guy. Perfect for those ages that can sit still for a few minutes but not too long. Each devo is two pages long. It has an intro to a new dinosaur and the stats on it. It has a small lesson, scripture, a dig deeper prompt, as well as a journaling prompt.

I think ,y favorite part is that the author picked some part of the dinosaur and related it to me child. For example: the Iguanodan needs its tail to stay balanced then the child is asked about his or her balance. I really like the interaction in the devotion part.

Bible verses are explained while including dino-facts, a mix which is sure to hold young dinosaur fans' attentions and help some of the lessons stick in their minds.

This book takes 75 dinosaurs and presents each one while explaining the message behind a certain Bible verse. It's a combination I wasn't sure would work but was happily surprised. Each two-page spread starts out with the name of a dinosaur along with the pronunciation. Directly afterwards, the 'Bible Excavation' presents one Bible verse. From here, several areas are hit upon. Most importantly, a (about) one page devotion talks not only about a couple aspects of the dinosaur by relates it's habits, or other aspects to the Bible verse. For example, the verse John 10:27 mentions the sheep hearing God's voice and following Him. The dinosaur mentioned was known for its superb hearing, and this is then built into the devotion.

There are cute illustrations of the dinosaur along with a list of dinosaur facts( family, height, weight, etc). There's a 'colored bookmark' section which asks a question to help readers think deeper into the devotion and how it relates to their lives, and a question which prompts readers to keep a journal where they write thoughts on experiences relating to the message or how they can use it actively. Last but not least, there's an extra information tidbit about the dinosaur—a strange fact.

While the dinosaur facts will draw attention and encourage dinosaur lovers (ages 8 to 11) to gaze into the pages, the devotion does a nice job of staying on track and making sure the message from the Bible stays front and center. These messages aren't deep studies but hit upon the general impressions and how God works in our lives, what we as Christians should do, and other such thoughts. Whether or not kids will want to 'journal' these moments...well, that I'm pretty doubtful about. To round off the devotion, a prayer would have been more helpful in my opinion. Also, the Bible verses are taken randomly from nine different translations, which is something which left me wondering. At the very end of the book, there is a list of the various resources used to grab the dinosaur facts.

This is a cute and wonderful way to grab young dinosaur fans up into a daily/nightly devotion. They will look forward to see what comes next, which is often half the battle (unfortunately). The Bible messages are universal and clear, and don't let the dinosaurs overpower the statements. I give it a thumbs up.

I received a complimentary copy through Booklook Bloggers and found this to be a nice devotional book. So I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.

I love this dinosaur devotional and wish I would have had it for my kids when they were younger - one in particular was enamored with dinos as a kid and he would have absolutely LOVED this book. I've bought it for gifts for others, however, and can't wait for my grandson to get old enough to enjoy the devotions. Each day's devotion is packed with wonderful info for the budding scientist, and while he or she is learning about the xiaotingia eating insects, shellfish, and plants, the reader is learning that as a child of God, he or she has a unique identity: the imprint of the heavenly father and a special place in history. Author Michelle Medlock Adams combines dinosaur statistics, bible verses, thoughts to ponder, questions to help dig deeper, and an opportunity to journal thoughts related to the devotion. It's a spiritual walk through 75 days that kids surely will hang onto for quite some time!

What a great way to develop a pattern of daily devotions with a 5-10 year old fan of dinosaurs! Michelle Adams takes a notable trait of 75 dinosaurs and seamlessly relates that trait to a verse or two of Scripture. Along with the text that combines dino facts with a Bible connection are “digging deeper” life application questions and a journaling activity. Bold, colorful illustrations round out this excellent devotion book for kids that could be completed independently by strong readers or as a family. Additional online or library research on dinosaurs could be done to further the family time and the learning. Note: NIV is the Bible version that is predominantly used. Thanks for the dARC, Edelweiss.

Dinosaur Devotions is perfect for any child who likes dinosaurs. My son adores them and even though he is 11 years old, he sits in rapt attention as we do our daily devotion from this book. What is so amazing is that the author understands children so well that my son thinks I shared with her stories from his life because they are so on point. His eyes are wide with amazement as he learns about dinosaurs and how knowledge of them can apply to his life. He has never enjoyed journaling and writing of any sort, but he happily engages in Jurassic Journaling and likes to answer the questions at the end - and they always point him closer to Jesus. We have had great devotions in the past, but this book is “heads and tails” above the rest.

I love this devotional so much, I not only bought the ebook, I also bought the print book so that my grandson can take it home. The book has fun dinosaur facts paired with a Bible verse and a nice devotion that ties the verse with a fact about the dinosaur and something that will be meaningful to young readers. My grandson especially loved the devotions about love always protects and thinking of others before yourself. He is eight years old, but his four-year-old sister loves the book as well. The dinosaur facts are fun. I find myself wanting to read many in one sitting. It's so hard not to do all the devotions in one day!

I've read this book with my 6 and 7 year olds and they love it. Each page/day has a new dinosaur and gives a nice description and facts about that dinosaur. Then the author relates it to the Bible or to a way for the reader to improve himself. The only drawback is some of these devotions may be a bit over-the-head of young children and may require a longer discussion to explain the concepts. But overall, this is a great book for young dinosaur fans.

NOTE: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

It had a lot of promise, but some of the connections between dinosaur behavior and human behavior are tenuous, at best, and some of the attempted logical connections were faulty, which is unfortunate. Had they just been left out, readers would be saved from a lot of unnecessary cognitive dissonance.
