I guess the first time I became aware of Charlie Daniels was in the early 70s when he released Fire on the Mountain. My musical roots are traditional country with 8-10 years as a pre-teen and teenager following the sounds of the 50s and 60s. A few years later when The Devil Went Down to Georgia was released, I became an avid fan. I cried when he passed away 3-4 years ago. I dearly loved the man, reading most of his books. I had an unused credit on Amazon recently, so bought this book. I’m glad that I did. With his timeless wit, wisdom and plain common sense, Mr Daniels has written an inspiring and encouraging little devotional for 100 days. He emphasizes a Bible scripture for each of those days. I finished it quickly, turned around and re-read it. I enjoyed it that much.
I am a long time follower of Mr. Daniels on twitter and have seen his wonderful, pithy, wise thoughts each day. When I saw this book, I knew I had to read it and would love it - and I was right!
The book is a beautiful gift-style book. It's hard cover with a lovely ribbon to hold your place. The paper is really high quality and would make a wonderful gift. However, it's the words inside that are really the best and I love the Scripture that he ties to his thoughts each day.
There are 100 daily writings in this book packed with wisdom and delightful stories. I really love how he shared aspects of his life and how he made it through some hard times. Sometimes, we tend to think that celebrities have no problems but they are human just like you and me. He reminds us that God is there for us and gives such encouraging thoughts.
One thing he wrote that really stood out to me was, "If you can't get what you want, take what you can get and make something out of it." This quote was written in correlation with a story of a promoter that said his band would never make it. He said if he had decided to believe that, he may have just given up but he knew his band could make it and decided to use that to propel him forward. I wondered how many times in my life I let others define who I was and gave up? His story was so encouraging to me and it's just one of many that encouraged me and I felt were speaking to me personally.
I absolutely love this book! I have been a Charlie Daniels fan since the 70's and have followed his career ever since. I admire that he lives his life in such a godly way and tries to always do the right thing. This book just totally defines who he is and it's fantastic. It's a book I will read over and over again - especially when I need a little encouragement or kick to the backside! It's a great book for reminding us who we are to God. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars!

Let's All Make The Day Count by Charlie Daniels is a daily devotional. His wisdom and life lessons are easy to remember and think about throughout the day. I enjoy learning about Charlie Daniels, his life is very interesting and inspiring. With his life lessons shared throughout the 100 readings I looked forward to the next days lesson and often looked ahead to see what tomorrows 'make the day count' saying would be. I gifted this devotional to my husband for Christmas and it is truly one we both enjoy sharing each morning to start our day. I think it is one we will reread many times. I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review program. I was not required to write a positive review. My review is voluntary.
I've been listening to Charlie Daniels' music for a long time, and really love how he brings that same grittiness to his books. There's no blown smoke, no false pretenses...he is who he is, and we love him for it! This small book brings us some of his wisdom, gleaned through years of life experience, in the form of a devotional. There are one hundred two-page readings, typically relating to his life and career, that are perfect for bite-sized moments. It is a nice hardcover book, with a built in ribbon bookmark to keep your place. Each reading features a related scripture and inspirational quote. I love how 'common sense' they are, and how he keeps it real.
As someone who has listened to the CDB since 1977 and seen the band 3 times in 2 states across a decade I am thankful I discovered Daniels before he entered the outspoken, conservative, flag waving patriot (which how do we square that with the staunch support of “the South’s going do it again”), preachy Daniels of his later years.
I kept hoping the book would pick up and get more interesting. In fact Daniels, in my opinion, wears a little thin.
The up side - it’s an easy read and I think I did highlight 3 passages worth remembering.
This book contains 100 entries. Each one has a Bible verse, a brief story, and a few words of encouragement. Each entry is only a couple of pages total. It can be a lightning-fast read if you choose to make it so. Alternatively, you can read and reflect on each one, as I am doing. These are short, but heartfelt entries. I have learned more about Charlie Daniels in the first ten pages than I have in my whole life.
Please note that the Kindle edition is currently on sale for $0.99. It's a real bargain.
Growing up with his powerful music and feeling his stories is such a treat. I think that not only any fan of Charlie would adore this book but also anyone who can use the positive influence. You get a really intimate and connected presence when reading the chapters to where it is like listening to the author share his heart. Of course young children are not really going to understand a lot so this is more for an adult or older youth.
Straight Talking Biblical Wisdom from A Man who Practiced what he Preached
This is one of the best devotional books I have read in a long time, not only because I’m a Charlie Daniels fan from way back, but just because it contains 100 devotions written in plain language that each get right to the heart of the matter. I highly recommend this book, especially to country music-loving Christians who enjoy a quick-to-the-point daily devotion.
Plain old fashioned common sense values for a world gone crazy. Charlie Daniels is an outspoken Patriot...So damn refreshing! I would encourage every young adult read this book in an honest attempt to gain real-life perspectives that just might keep you from following some ill begotten crowd of radicals off of a Life-Cliff...Read it before it’s too late to change course!
Wow! What a great book! Charlie Daniel’s imparts his wisdom and insights around 100 topics using Bible verses as lead-ins to his thoughts. I read this very quickly but I think next time I’m going to read one topic per day on the morning and use that as inspiration to live out his message. This is a very inspirational book.
I started it before he passed and put it down because I just couldn't bring myself to read at that time, but I finally finished it and I am so glad I did!!! It touched my heart and soul. I have told so many people to read this book. It truly is a blessing. Thank you!
Best review would be by his own words make every day count. Awesome book .has some religious quotes and some great story's with lessons to learn by. This is my book with a name in it. .
This is a nonfiction inspirational book with 100 days of food for thought. Each short segment includes a Bible verse, a corresponding story from the life or thoughts of Charlie Daniels, and a quote by the author. It brings up some very good topics, from the value of friendship, to how to develop a good work ethic, to when (and when not) to take shortcuts, to the necessity for patience even when (especially when) it's hard. It was well written, contains a section in the back for taking notes, has an attached ribbon bookmark (at least on my small hardback edition), and would make a great gift to any Charlie Daniels fan. Four stars.
A collection of musings from Charlie Daniels, similar to editorials. Nice to read to clear ones head of the battery of negative garbage coming out of the current media. He provides examples from his own life and career that have helped to lead him to the observations he provides. So it has a personable quality and is of interest to a fan.
