Wonderful, wise, inspirational story of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee's early life. I loved Bill's memories growing up on his family's hereford farm, the rich pictures painted of his family. He shares with candor about meeting his wife, their sorrows in losing several babies, and his and his four children's heartbreak in losing his wife Carol Ann to a tragic accident. I was moved with how his faith helped him through this hard time and the difficulties to come with his business and family. As he so honestly shared with his kids in one scene: "Life toes on and can still be a good life even when things don't work out the way you want them to." He wisely shared his belief that life comes packaged in seasons and that each of our lives are like books, containing many chapters. With much humility Bill reveals his early background, his beliefs, and the life experiences that built him into the man in leadership he has become. ... I loved this book and could not put it down.

This book is a must-read for the Tennessee residents. I would like to have a little more for the reader and not so much misfortune but it was ok and a get to know the new Governor book. I deal with the state of Tennessee everyday so the new Governor of Tennessee' attitude is important. The people of Tennessee need to read this. A very easy read.

I was given this book by the author and he even wrote in the front, “To brother Randy Corn – I hope this book is an inspiration through a tough season – Bill Lee” I would say that this book did just that. I had expected this would be a “campaign biography” the sort that a candidate releases to say why you ought to vote for him. Instead this is an autobiography, a compelling and very human story that I could relate to. I suppose that is because Lee is only a couple of years younger than me and he grew up just outside of Nashville. I was finding myself saying, “I know where that is” or, “I’ve heard of that” over and over again. Beyond that I thought the book was very well written. It also had a strongly evangelical feel to it. It is very evident that Lee’s faith is very important to him.

The essence of this book is the story of Lee’s life and how he was able to deal with the death of his wife. I particularly liked the fact that he did not just pray and the problems disappeared. The book was far more honest than that. It was a long way back from the tragic accidental death of his wife. It is also interesting to hear about his family and business. I felt like it was a complete story and I was struck by the sincerity of the book. I really appreciated the fact that he never asked the reader to vote for him in the upcoming election. I am sure that I will recommend this book to many friends and I will loan out this copy, but only with serious assurances that I will get it back!

powerful, sweet story of survival of tragedy

Reading about how others have survived tragedy helps to put life and our daily disappointments into perspective. Bill Lee came out stronger because of his enduring faith, something that we should all strive to have.

Better than I expected from s standard political autobiography by a gubernatorial candidate. This book is filled with inspiring stories of a godly man and his godly family triumphing over adversity.

I have never cried so much reading a book. I was truly inspired by his reactions to all the tragic events in his life. I always thought I had a good relationship with God but he has shown me how to improve that relationship. Everyone could benefit from reading this
