One man. A secret power that could change the galaxy. Two entire universes in pursuit.
Tane crosses the galaxy in a race against time to unlock the hidden powers inside himself before his enemies can capture him. With his companions, he moves between this universe and the next, pursued by the governments of aliens and humans alike. To fail means capture and mindless servitude, as those governments would turn him into a tool for their wars. To succeed means his freedom, and perhaps something more.
Hunted and attacked at every turn, eventually Tane finds himself backed into a corner, with no hope of escape.
But those who pursue him do not understand that Tane has only scratched the surface of the awesome power inside himself. And if his enemies press too hard, poke too deep, they might not like what rears its ugly head back at them.
Yes, they do not understand.
The Bender of Worlds has only just begun to awaken.
Isaac Hooke is the best-selling author of the Ethan Galaal series of thriller novels, as well as the SF-themed ATLAS trilogy. When Isaac isn't writing, publishing, and blogging, he's busy cycling and taking pictures in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He has a degree in Engineering Physics.
I loved this book. It has a lot of action, a great storyline and a whole lot less of "leveling up" statistics. Don't get me wrong, those are worth knowing, but sometimes thy are just too much of the book. Not the case with this one. Tane and crew are in the fights of theirs constantly. And they find help in strange places which makes for excellent reading.
The author does another great job bringing interesting characters and concepts to light, and drawing it all together with some solid drama. The action is also good, and the editing is excellent. We get to see more characters and plot in this new book, picking up right where book one ended. The LitRPG element is done very well here too, as it’s not part of the character’s goals (next level, next ability) so much as it is used to define his current capabilities. I don’t think I’ve seen it handled like that before, and it’s a nice creative change. Sometimes the action flags to let the drama go, but since the drama feeds the character growth it generally works. Overall an impressive series with new and interesting ideas, characters, world design, and story. Recommended.
Great start then better end that carries the whole work onward
I love the growth in all the characters. But The Doomweilder now must become something even greater to be able to face his destiny. His inner struggle and growing abilities are both a blessing and a danger to himself. The author has given us a fine example of life, death and hope. I'm eager to see where his goes next. Now I have a new series to follow and a fun set to re-read for sheer joy.
I’ve read so many Isaac Hooke books that I’ve lost track, but everything that made you love his writing before is present in this new adventure, Bender of Worlds (Star Warrior Book 2) , 700+ pages with so much detail in the writing it reads longer. (This book was much less Han Solo & Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars movie and more like his other space fantasy books with a dose of Lit RPG thrown in.
If you were bored with the first book, feeling like you were reading something written for a 12 year old you are not alone. This book is helps to build the story and helps you appreciate what Tane is going through. It is pretty predictable, but enjoyable. Read t with that n mind and that I'm going to read the 3rd book. So make your own decision and James st enjoy
This writer gets an A+ for originality hands down. I rated it a 4 because too many in - the-moment saves seem to happen too frequently. Like a lot. They seemed almost made up, like the author didn't think things through and had to conveniently discover another "rule" or "feature" to keep the storyline going.
This book shows us Tane leveling up. Some of the lessons he is learning are quite interesting. We can only hope some future level will have him deal with people a little easier. I was a little upset over the relationship mess, but will not say any more on that. The action and the white and black power blending is developing very well.
Mr. Hooks has done a great job with this series. I am looking forward to the next book. Good character development and plot. Some unexpected plot twists keep it interesting.
I'm not a huge fan of LitRPG or similar game inspired books, but I have to admit that the author does a great job on this series. i can't wait to read the next volume and I hope it will come out soon.
Interesting to follow, was better than the first with more story to follow and a little less explanation of what was happening. Which I felt that it made me think about what could happen in the future
The exposition between the two books finally started to take its toll. Hopefully the final two books are different or I won't be able to finish the series.
The storyline and characters are great. The books would be much better if the author cut out most of the exposition, in my opinion.
