Ladies, take it from me, if you have any sense, do not fall for an Irish guy. Especially a fiery-tempered, muscular, tattooed, bad boy who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks without a father. That's Shane. My Shane. At least, I hope he becomes mine.
When we were in high school I know he liked me. He was going to ask me to prom. We were destined to be together. And then everything went wrong. This town was never kind to outsiders, and an Irish fighter like Shane never stood a chance against the creeps who run things around here. They weren't about to let him make off with me.
So they almost killed him.
They dropped him at a bus station with a one-way ticket across the country, and I thought I'd never see him again. Now he's back, and there's going to be trouble. Three years in the military has turned him into a dangerous weapon. And he's going to unleash on St. Patrick's Day and reclaim the woman he was always supposed to have.
The woman who's heart has always been his. The woman who saved her first time for him. Me.
First Time Lucky OMG Chance I loved it and would give more than 5 stars if I could. Shane fell in love with Dallas when they were seventeen. Unfortunately bullies Wes and his Dad, who had control over the town had other ideas. After beating and exiling him they took Dallas as theirs after terrorising her and her father. Even though they had Dallas she wouldn't give them the one thing they wanted, her complete submission. After three years in the army building himself up Shane comes back to settle some scores and claim what is his, Dallas. This book had me gripped from the beginning, when they were young still at school until the very end as much stronger adults. 💎💎💎
WOW ! Dallas and Shane’s story simply stole my heart. It was a captivating love story that drew me in with its sheer emotions. It was an intriguing storyline that took me on a journey of feelings that I lost and longed for. So compelling that I became lost in the words as read the story. This book is amazingly written and I loved it from start to finish. For me it’s a powerful love story and I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing book to read.
This story truly had something quite unique,Dallas and Shane's adventure at love was so compelling. The storyline was captivating,it brought so much feelings, longing. This is such a wonderful book in so many ways. I truly recommend anyone not only to read it because this is the type of fantasy that mimics a bit of life's natural events. Although I was given this book freely, but I loved it so much that I KU always for this so ever charming and amazing author. My opinions are my own. And Chance always tried his best to deliver as Best Seller.
Triumphant battle of good over evil Shane lost the girl of his dreams once but, he’s back to rescue Dallas. Great heartwarming story of an Irish lad getting a second chance at love. Well written characters with lots of action and hot sex scenes. 🔥 You will laugh, cry and root for the underdog. Climax will leave you on the edge of your seat. 🍀
The luck of the 🍀 Irish perhaps had a bit to do with yet another wonderful love story by Chance Carter! Dallas and Shane certainly have their lives and love tested at every turn from high school into the very real life of adults. But their love stays strong and pulls them through, Thank you Chance for your best romantic lovers yet, even with a heroic finale and happily ever after. 💚💎
Wow what a great book, I loved it. It was sweet, captivating, and very entertaining. Loved the characters, well the main characters anyway. A very enjoyable read.
Great St. Patrick's Day read! I loved Shane and Dallas! He might have been the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but he was a good man who came back to claim his woman! Great entertaining bad boy romance!
Why oh why am I in such a book funk right now?!? Or should I say why do I keep choosing stupid @$$ books?! With stupid @$$ stories and execution!?! This is book is a definite example of stupid! Proof number uno...town king pin afraid of a 17 y.o, runs him out of town! He wants a 17,y.o girl, enslaved her but doesn't fu€k her but makes her a stripper instead WTF!! Holds said girl in his power and allows his son to "claim her" Wait for it... For 3 years!! This book sucked nothing I repeat NOTHING in it was good. I hate leaving bad reviews because, hay this book was someone's baby but damn it, it wasn't good! I hate wasting my time reading bad books!!!!
Luck of the Irish comes through in this book. The saying goes end of every rainbow you find a pot of gold in this case Shane is the pot of gold. First Time Lucky is a beautiful love story. Shane and Dallas' love was so pure that it made them stronger whatever life threw at them till the end and it was all worth it. Loved the book. As always Mr. Chance Carter has written an incredible book. Highly recommended.
Shane was a loaner back in high school he had always had a crush on Dallas. He never had the nerve to ask her out until one day they shared the most amazing kiss that was electric. Shane got beet up a lot in high school. He left and joined the Army. When he was done with the Army Shane went back to his old stomping grounds to get the most important person of his life. But first he has to meet up with the people who beat him up. Will he be able to get the most important person back into his life? This book was amazing. Another great read Chance Carter. 🍀
Shane and Dallas belonged to each other. And unfortunately, the towns riches Bullies didn’t think so. They beat Shane and exiled him. They terrorized Dallas and her father into submission. Only they didn’t realize that the love of the heart is stronger than the struggles of life. Shane, away for three years in the Military, found the courage and strength and wherewithal to return to get what was his. To show the people in his past a new Shane. One to be admired. This authors storyline kept me interested and I couldn’t stop reading it. I needed more! Highly recommended!

Amazing love story of innocence and life’s hard luck! Shane exiled from his hometown never to come back, all for trying to defend his high school crushes honor against the town gangster and his son. After his exile and stint in the army, he resurrects himself to come back and fight for the love of his life! Excellent read!
This is one of those books that keep you wanting to read and read into many hours of the night. It's a beautiful tale about two people that want to be together but something keeps them apart and it's up to you to find out how it ends. Will they get their happy ending or will something bad happen? Read it and find out! :)
This was a great read. The love story of Shane and Dallas made you laugh and cry how Wes father sent him away and not have any contact with Dallas, but he came back to get her back. Shane is my hero. Thank you Chance for another great book.
OMG Chance you outdid yourself with this book. I was spellbound from the first word in the first chapter to the last word in the last chapter. The ending had me very surprised as how it ended. I think it would be great to for you to continue with Jake's story.
Oh my God, this was such an amazing story different than most it kept me guessing through the whole book, I cried i laughed and cried some more. It was really emotional, I truly wished I could flip to the back and see what was going to happen

EPIC love story, TIMELESS, emotional, a TEN-STAR must-buy! I could not put it down! How is it that Chance Carter books get better and better? Really, what I should be asking is Why am I surprised by this realization? Wasn’t it his writing that drew me back into the romance genre? Wasn’t it his writing I’ve used to measure any book I’ve ever reviewed? So, why am I astounded? I’ll tell you why . . . because CHANCE CARTER IS AN AMAZING WRITER! Each of his books is so vastly different from the last that a reader is reminded anew each time, just how wonderful Chance Carter’s novels truly are. Ok, now I have that off my chest let’s focus on Chance Carter’s amazing new novel, “First Time Lucky”. First, I must state that “First Time Lucky” is absolutely without comparison. It is romantic to the core - with an EPIC HEA ending. Though starting out as a coming of age tale, “First Time Lucky” becomes so much more. You can read the blurb to find out more about the plotline, but what the blurb won’t tell you is the story of Dallas and Shane exemplifies two fights we see all over the world. First is the fight of good against evil, or in this case the right of a people to live the American Dream under a rule of law. For when that rule of law is overpowered by one or a small group, then all people suffer. Fear, not rules govern the day and a sense of hopelessness keeps the larger group suppressed by the smaller group; because the personal cost of fighting that evil is deemed too great a cost. The second fight we see exemplified in “First Time Lucky” is the unrepentant will to make life better for those we love. Despite author Chance Carter’s intent to write a great romantic love story, that marvelous love story is a scathing commentary on society. So much more than Romeo and Juliet, or a story of the “have-nots” against the “haves.” It personifies what history teaches, that those who are concerned more with their own comfort will allow evil to grow and even reign despite the discomfort they ultimately must suffer through. Additionally, “First Time Lucky” illustrates that those who possess the will to fight that evil must be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to win a better life for those they cherish. “First Time Lucky” is incredibly emotional, incredibly deep and by far one of the best romances I have ever read. Be warned, readers will need tissues and perhaps a second glass of wine because the characters of “First Time Lucky” will pull them in so deep that the battle in Sitka will remind readers of any and every injustice suffered at the hand of another or a small group. Those characters and their actions may also inspire you to try to make a positive difference. Because if people acted more like the book characters, Dallas and Shane, the world would be a better place for all. I was given an ARC copy of “First Time Lucky” to prepare this honest voluntary review, but I will be purchasing a copy of “First Time Lucky” as soon as it goes live. I want a copy of “First Time Lucky” in my favorites section, so I can read it again and again. If I could give “First Time Lucky” ten stars, I would, because it is that exceptional, that inspirational. So, with the STRONGEST and HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION, this reader/reviewer can give, I implore you to get your copy of “First Time Lucky” today! Happy pages. 😊
"I received a complimentary copy of this book and have volunteered to leave a review."
Is it possible to be more sweet and loving this man? He calls himself a bad boy but how bad this type of man can be? Reading his books I can easily picture him on the male lead role being the bad boy who takes care of the ones he loves most. So, First Time Lucky storyline is all about that.
But let's take it from the beginning. Senior in high school, Shane has a last opportunity to ask Dallas Keane out before they leave for college. He is drawn by her and so she is. Any chance they get to talk to each other is ruined by Wes and his minions. Although, Shane and Dallas were ready to start something beautiful, Wes and his father had other plans for both of them. Three years after, Shane and Dallas have their second chance and at Saint Patrick's day Shane is going to fight for her even if it means he might die.
That I'm fond of Chance's Carter writing talent has been already known. Who isn't actually? On purpose I haven't revealed as much as the synopsis so as to write about the heart of the story. Shane and Dallas are two sympathetic characters, both mature and intelligent for their age, with big dreams for their future. It was easy for me to like and admire them for what they presenting. What looked a bit off to me tho was the excess courtly love coming from Shane. He felt unreal when he used lines only a man could tell than a seventeen-year-old boy. (my opinion) On the other hand, Dallas is the heroine I like to see when enduring this type of terrible situation. She isn't the "damsel in distress" and I very much appreciated it.
Over all, the way the storyline unfolds, moving from past to future, allowing Shane and Dallas to finally reach adulthood through all these difficulties is simply captivating. The author does, once again, a great job of encompassing suspense and humour into one heartwarming, second chance love story. Presenting the feeling of be in love and being loved as it deserves to be. First Time Lucky was an enjoyable read, not what expected but I was satisfied in the end; so much that I guarantee you will like reading it.
I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book. Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.
Editing: Decent. Some spots here and there that were missed, but I didn’t want to whip out a red pen or rant to a fellow grammar nazi.
Story: Here’s where I get pissy. I’m from a small town in Oklahoma. The Pacific Northwest isn’t known for backwoods, inbred red necks (not that Oklahoma is. Really. That’s Arkansas. And Tennessee). And yet the author acts like everyone are yokels who don’t know that if the cops are dirty and you have a crime lord, you call the feds. WHY DOES NO ONE CALL THE FEDS? I knew it growing up in a small town. The people around me knew it. How does no one in this book know it? Why do characters have to be dumb? How did the H not learn about the magic of calling the feds while fighting in Afghanistan for America? How did the h not learn about it while surfing the internet? WHY ARE THEY STUPID?
We also spent so much time watching their senior year (didn’t expect that from the description), I almost started having flashbacks. Actually almost quit the book because I thought the high school drama was never going to end. Kinda wish I had quit.
Characters: So much freaking development. Over development. And yet not. You spend a ton of time in the heads of the H and h, but it’s pretty superficial. Like ‘Twilight’.
Conclusion: This book dragged on forever. And ever. I wasted an evening on it. So much drama, no actual entertainment. Didn’t make me smile once.

Shane and Dallas are star crossed lovers. He's from the wrong side of the tracks and she, while not exactly from the right side, is pretty and popular. But they're drawn to each other, even though they're just in high school. But where would our story be without a villian - a rich mean bully of a villian?? The young lovers are torn apart and go their separate ways but never forget the other. And when Shane comes back to town - WATCH OUT!! You know what hits the fan.
Chance is so good at writing a really good love story - not too angsty, not too hot, not too star crossed, he just always gets the perfect combination of all of it. His words draw you in and keep you captive until it's 4 in the morning and you have to be up at 7.........but you just can't quit reading until you know whether or not there's a happily ever after.
One of the best books I have read, couldn't put it down. Things dont always start with a once upon a time and end with a happily ever after right away. Shane is of Irish bloodline who has always loved Dallas. True love never gives up and neither will Shane. I strongly recommend reading this book. You wont regret it.
This is another great story by Chance Carter. I was quickly drawn into the story and didn't want to put the book down. The characters are interesting, and believable. I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath a few times throughout the book. I had a roller coaster of emotions as well, I got angry, frustrated, happy and worried. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
First Time Lucky is another gem of a diamond 💎 Chance Carter hasn’t disappointed me when it come to his books, I love how his words just flows there the pages and you feel like your in it to win it. I loved Shane and Dallas I wish I could give it more than 5 stars it deserves much more than 5 diamonds 💎 💎💎💎💎
This was such a good storyline between Shane and Dallas .... Wes and his evil father held Dallas for 3 long yrs but she never gave them her virginity. .... She only loved Shane .... Shane came back to save her ..... You will have to read to find out what happens..... I voluntarily read an arc
Shy not-so-popular Shane from the wrong side of town loves the popular good girl Dallas but so does the school bully whose dad more or less owns the town. This is the premise for the newest Chance Carter offering, First Time Lucky. I. LOVE. IT. It is a quick, sweet, dirty, sexy, aggravating, beautifully written love story with all the feels you need from a book and will flat out knock your socks off.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes shy, hunky underdogs who turn into sexy bad asses, and a sweet good girl gone bad girl who is determined to keep herself and those she loves safe, and bad guys who.....well, you'll have to read it to find that out. Do yourself a favor and grab it now before the price goes up, better yet use KU if you have it and read it for free!!
This is the perfect book for you to read for St. Patricks Day! It has an interesting story that will have you catching your breath and fanning yourself. It's a slow-burn that has action and suspense and a very satisfying ending that will leave you smiling long after finishing the book. I really enjoyed the fact that Shane was the underdog that has the ultimate comeback!! Dallas comes into her own and is the feisty, confident woman I love to read about. So I definitely recommend this book and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Wow! Chance is on a roll lately with his books and this one definitely hits the mark. I started it before bed thinking I would just read a couple chapters to wind down, and the next thing I know it’s 2am and I have finished about 60% of the book! 😳 For me, that is a sign of a good book! 💕 If your a fan of Chance’s books, you will fall in love with this book. I did! So much that I read with KU and then purchased it. Thanks Chance for another wonderful book. 💋💕💎🍀
