Perfectly Misunderstood

Rate this book
Jayden Valdez is an overachieving intellectual. Mike McGinnes is Franklin High School’s dumbest jock. Even though they barely know each other, she finds his personality repulsive and he thinks she’s got a giant stick up her you know what. Mike and Jayden are surprised and annoyed when their teacher pairs them together for Spanish tutoring. Both feel it’s a complete waste of time, since nobody could learn from a person who bugs the crap out of them. Not to mention that their reputations might be ruined if people realize what they’re doing. But it doesn’t take long for Jayden to discover that Mike has a secret—he isn’t the person he appears to be. Much to her dismay, Jayden finds 'Secret Mike' strangely attractive. And for some crazy reason, Mike is amused by Jayden’s clever insults and witty banter. Suddenly, they have a much bigger problem than their mutual disdain. What started as irritating tension is beginning to feel more like romantic tension and acting on it would be a very bad idea.

The most important thing to know about me is that I'm basically a sixteen-year-old trapped in an adult's body. It's why I feel such a great connection to all of my characters and why I love to write romantic comedy. The kid in me just wants to be goofy. Besides being a writer; I'm a wife, mother of five, volleyball enthusiast and home decorating guru. My list of favorites includes: reading, Christmas, pedicures, dessert, steak, Arizona winters and most importantly, Diet Coke.

I've read this series from the start and have loved it! And honestly? I don't want it to end.

Jayden and Mike are about as different as you can get and it's really easy to stereotype these two. I think most of us are guilty of acting the way we think we should and falling into these types. I love the way they overcome the social molds they each find themselves in and grow into who they really are.

Jayden is super smart and comes across as being a little too mature for high school in some ways, but when she finds herself in need of a tutor to appease her perfectionist father, Mike comes to the rescue. He seems like a "dumb jock" but has some secrets up his sleeve. I loved discovering the depth of these characters and seeing their true colors.

I also loved the romantic development. The banter is fun and witty and the chemistry is smoldering. The interactions made me smile and I always wondered what they would do or say next. This book almost made me wish for those high school days again--it was that fun!

Like I said, I'm sad for this series to end, but it was fun to see glimpses of previous characters and to get a satisfying ending. I'm keeping my out eye out for Robin Daniels and hoping for another fun series!

I don't read as much YA as I used to, but this is an author whose work has been so fun to read and is highly entertaining! The way she writes from a teenage boy's perspective captures reality without being crass, and I appreciate that her characters don't fall into stereotypes but stand out as unique individuals. Jayden is a bit high maintenance while also being smart and a loyal friend, so it took me a while to feel out her personality. Mike is hilarious with his homeboy persona while hiding the truth about himself- he is driven, focused, highly intelligent, and makes sacrifices to help out at home. He was pretty likeable, and I was happy to see Jayden uncover his secret and encourage him to come clean with his friends and schoolmates. Their friendship doesn't come easy but once they behave naturally around each other, it opens the door for more romantic feelings to develop. They share great banter which is always fun, and there are layers of depth that emerge which make the plot more meaningful. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to more from the author!

PERFECTLY MISUNDERSTOOD is a sweet, fun story about two characters who aren't what they seem and the misunderstandings that ensue when they're paired for Spanish tutoring. If you like contemporary YA with plenty of drama, realistic high school settings, and fun friendships, then try this one.

I think one of my favorite things about this story was how accurate to high school the romance was. There is all the back and forth and doubting if so and so likes so and so or not. The testing to see if she or he likes the other without committing, so that there's no embarrassment. The automatic assumptions that labels bring and finding that everyone isn't what you expect.

I loved the camaraderie of the groups of friends. Becca and Jayden had such a great friendship and I really enjoyed their relationship. I adored Mike's family, especially his little brother and sister who are twins. I also really enjoyed how Jayden and Mike start at odds, become friends, and then find themselves falling for each other against their own wishes.

There is quite a bit of drama. There's the usual misunderstandings and some feelings get hurt here and there. The girls get emotional in parts, mostly for silly things. The guys have guy moments and are blunt in parts. It felt fairly realistic... Just a warning for those who aren't into the high school scene and drama in your stories.

In the end, was it what I wished for? An overall enjoyable read with some good laugh-out-loud moments and others that were sweet moments between friends, family, or of the romantic swoon-worthy type.

Content: Some mature references and innuendo, but fairly clean.

Ok, I completely forgot the blurb when I picked this book up. I could remember it was a HTL about two high school students paired up for class who are complete opposites, but I forgot that the female character's name was Jayden. Because the only Jaydens I've ever known have been guys... So I read the first few pages thinking Jayden was the guy. To be fair, I did originally read the first couple lines of the blurb thinking this might be a gay romance, until I got to "she finds his personality repulsive" and had to figure out which boy name referred to a girl.

So. First impressions? Jayden really does have a stick up her butt at first. Seriously. I admired her dedication to doing well in school, sure, but she was pretty judgmental and rude. I would have told her to chill out. And Mike? Well, Mike loved his slang, maybe too much, and it was a little awkward to read at first. I kept wondering if people actually talked like him in real life. Because man, I felt old. I could understand what he was saying – I'm not that old, and Twitter yo – but it was just...weird. So yeah, these two definitely came across as opposites.

EXCEPT. Surprise surprise. Mike's whole slang thing? AN ACT. So before you guys read the first chapter thinking WTF and give up on him, just wait until you find out what he's really like. And then you will have a blast reading him messing with Jayden. It was so much fun. And, I mean, she sort of deserved it. He was never mean about it, more teasing, and it made her check herself...eventually. Their interactions were always filled with such delightful banter, and I loved it.

Other things I loved? The various side characters and how the couples from previous books were so cute together. The twins, who would probably drive me crazy in real life but brought out the best in Mike. (I do love a man who can take care of things and is good with children, what can I say?) The friendship between Jayden and Becca. Well, just Becca, honestly. That girl is awesome.

Oh guys, I read this whole thing with dopey grin on my face. It was funny and adorable and made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Happy sigh.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think this book may be my favorite of the whole Perfect series. Why? I'm not sure exactly. I just really like the push and pull between Jayden and Mike. The whole misjudging thing in the beginning, the tension, the building friendship. . . It was all so fun! I loved the dual perspectives in this one and how it really helped me make those deeper personal connections with both characters.

This is definitely a YA book, on the younger side of that spectrum. The characters are in high school, they act like typical high school students and it all felt very true to age and perspective. I wish I would have had a Mike to tutor me when I took Spanish in high school. Heaven knows I needed it!

I smiled a lot reading this book. I read through it quickly and enjoyed it for the most part. I would recommend taking a look at the content warning before reading or handing this book to your young teenager.

Content Description: This is a stand-alone YA contemporary romance with companion novels. While part of a series, each book can be enjoyed independently. It contains minor language, innuendo, crude humor, kissing, and conversations that mention sex. There are no sexual relationships, written or implied, and there's no explicit language.

Perfectly Misunderstood is (possibly?) the last book in the Perfectly series by Robin Daniels. I loved this series, especially this one.
Mike and Jayden are two opposites that definitely attract in this page turning read. Mike shows off as the dumb jock, but is in fact a very smart and deep guy, someone who can challenge the uptight and somewhat presumptuous Jayden. They get thrown together in an unconventional situation, developing a great friendship along the way. The banter is witty, sarcastic, and the inner thoughts had me laughing out loud throughout the book. Putting this one down was a real punishment.
I loved the growth in both characters, but I would have to say that Mike was the real hero for me. He is an exceptional guy, so much more than you would ever give him credit for, and still a real man. Great to dive into his mind, and have a poke around.
I enjoyed a return of the original cast (book 1), and the part they played in this story. In the other books there was a small mention here or there, this time we got to revisit them and were reminded of their fun personalities.
I will miss these books, and probably return to them when I need a pick me up in the future. Loved Daniels debut series, and have high expectations for her future work.

I loved Mike from the beginning while it took me awhile to warm up to Jayden. Jayden comes off a little harsh and judgemental in the beginning. I like to see growth in the characters in a story. I felt that even though Jayden and Mike started out rough in the beginning over the course of the story the two brought out the best in each other. I got a good laugh out of Mike's twin siblings. I enjoyed seeing characters from Perfectly Oblivious and Perfectly Summer. This was a great story. The storyline was engaging and fun.

Wow! I totally loved this book!!!! Oh my goodness I am in love with Mike McGinnes I don't know what to do with myself. At first I didn't like Jayden, Mike was right, she had a huge stick stuck up her butt but Mike's awesomeness totally balanced that out
So if you're looking for a laugh-out-loud, heart-melting, romantic(totally PG) read, then sit back, get a coffee, find a comfortable spot and enjoy the ride.

So, I set the happy tone for this post because the book I will feature today is a very inspirational and feel-good story. Like all inspirational stories, everything is not all peaches and roses for the main character. Like all of us, she had to undergo and experience emotional challenges, her beliefs had been questioned, and had to go through all other personal growth and transformation. What sets apart the character of Jayden Valdez from the other characters in other similar YA stories is the fact that she's Hispanic but is having a hard time in her Spanish class. It's a very frustrating situation that is even more made desperate by her Spanish teacher. The teacher offered to give her a tutor and the tutor is a jock who speaks slang and appears as dumb as a rock. Jayden thinks that Mike McGinnes is never qualified to be a tutor, Spanish or otherwise. Little did Jayden know that Mike is not all that he seems.

As I have said, this story is very easy to read and very light. Though the characters backgrounds weren't all that perfect, they each had their own baggages and issues to deal with, but the combination is a really well thought out mix of quirky and very adorable people. Jayden and Mike's combination alone is a very unlikely one. At the onset, these two are opposites of the gene pool. A very smart and overachieving girl and a dumb jock. You would think that if there's any tutoring happening, it would be Jayden who would be doing it and not Mike. But as fate would have it, it was not the case. These two were unwillingly thrown into each other's company. Jayden's situation is desperate, so she had accept Mike as a tutor if she wants to ace high school and get into the university that she wants to get into for college. As these two find a common ground, they realize that they are not exactly completely opposites.

This story is just so hilarious. I really enjoyed Jayden and Mike's back and forth banter just to outsmart each other and to get to have the last say. Plus, add in Mike's pint size firecracker sister who is just so adorable. Joy perfectly fits her name because that is just what she is. Joy packed in a very small body who's very witty. I just love her. I actually want to adopt her. Her twin brother Jackson is the opposite of her dynamite personality but is very adorable also. I wanted to give Jackson all the hugs in the world to assure him that he even if he's not as bubbly as her sister, he's just as lovable. Add in the bubbly friends of both Jayden and Mike who are also personalities on their own. They're like the really cool friends that you want to have in high school.

This is an absolutely swoon worthy story. I love Mike. I understand why he had to hide his true colors because he just wanted to fit in and not draw attention. I think, in a way, his half-brother's advise worked because it served its purpose but it has it's downside. That lends to the saying, "The end does not justify the means." In this story, did it? Was it the best way to survive high school? I think the answer is subjective. As I see it, it worked but Mike has to try so hard to appear dumb so as not to give himself away. Well, it's high school. It's crazy and teens think and do of all sorts of crazy things. So, this was not really out of the left field but it's still crazy. Actually, a very smart way to survive high school and avoid the bullies and I'm just glad that it worked so well with Mike.

Because this is a very delightful story, I give this 5/5 cross country running shoes. Though this is very delicious and entertaining, this also pointed out some harsh realities. The story mentions bullying, the plight of broken families, the daily life of single moms, and the various drama in a teenager's life from passing Spanish to other teen angsts. Even if the story was leaning more on the light side, it did not in any way brush aside or put less value on any of the issues mentioned. Instead, it somehow leaves its readers with a good feeling that in spite of all the cares in the world, there are still a few beautiful things to be thankful for and excited about. A teenager's life is full of confusion, chaos, and it feels like one is being pulled from different directions. This is the threshold were one is presented with a lot of choices but a person's circumstances either prevent it or leaves him with no other option. It's an exciting part of one's life but also challenging. For a parent, it's the most dreaded part of their kids' life. Dreaded because it presents a lot of possibilities and sometimes parents can only do so much to try to make their teenagers follow the right path. It's but natural to try new things and explore the unknown and how stupid and foolish and responsible your teenager could be spells the difference. In the end, teenagers have to learn to think for themselves and learn from the consequence of their actions. To learn the value of accountability and responsibility which are great tools in adulting.

This is the fourth book in the series but it's a stand alone. Now, I wanted to read all the other stories before this. I want to find out if they are as amusing as this one. If you are having a very difficult day, read this. It's very satisfying that you'll momentarily forget all your worries. Thank you again Robin Daniels for the ARC.

You ask them to clean up their toys, and it's like the end of the freaking world. You ask them to do a big kid chore that they won't be any good at, and it's like an early Christmas present.
She was like a Sour Patch Kid, tart on the outside, but sweet once you wore her down.

LOL Funny 😆

She said:
-‘Mike didn’t strike me as the type of person with enough focus to run cross-country. He seemed like the kind of guy whose attention span only lasted in short bursts. Like from one end of the basketball court to the other.’-

He said:
-‘“I guess she’s cute, but I’m not asking her out. She’s a super B and way stuck up. I thought she was shocked when Mr. T introduced me as her tutor. Then I realized that it wasn’t shock; she just has a gigantic stick up her butt. I don’t know if she’s crazy like Angelica, but she’s got pretentious down to a science.”’-

Then again...
-‘I pinched myself. Nope, not dreaming. What. The. Heck. Could it be that Franklin High School’s dumbest jock wasn’t an idiot at all? No, he was still an idiot, all right. But maybe he was an idiot with a brain.’-

When a smart girl needs tutoring in Spanish and the teacher chooses someone the whole school assumes is a dumb jock to tutor her, Jayden can’t help but have preconceived ideas about his intelligence level. But when she finds out just how smart Mike actually is, and that he’s hiding his intelligence, sparks begin to fly. The smack talk alone could set off fireworks. Yet, maybe they will each find out something more about each other along the way.

Light, fast moving, funny... just some of the words I would use to describe this latest book by Robin Daniels. I love that she doesn’t use long, descriptive paragraphs (I tend to skip over those in books) to make a point. This leads to a fast storyline and a great escape from everyday stresses and reality. Perfect for teens but a very pleasant read for older audiences too (those of us who are young at heart if not in years). Despite the similar sounding titles in her series of books, each can be read as a stand-alone, which I really appreciate. (Some previous characters make appearances so it’s beneficial to read the books in order, but not mandatory.)
For a fun, relaxing read, I highly recommend “Perfectly Misunderstood”. It’s the kind of book that I can see myself reading more than once. Great job! 👍🏻 5 stars ⭐️

I'm a sucker for this kind of book:
- High school drama: yes, please!
- Geek girl - popular boy: give me more!
- Slowburn romance: yay!
- From enemies to lovers: my kind of s*it

Jayden is a model student with a problem: she's getting straight As but she's about to fail in her Spanish I class, so she'll be in trouble with his super-strict father. When her Spanish teacher tells her to be tutored, she can't say no, even when her tutor is the dumbest jock from the school, Mike.

Mike is a varsity jock in three different sports and hangs with the popular kids in the school. Everyone thinks he's stupid because of his looks and the way he talks, but when someone pays attention they might see he's in all the advanced classes. That's because Mike is not stupid but pretending to be stupid.

Little by little, these two will start getting closer and becoming friends and then feeling more than friends. Secondary characters are great, from Becca and the popular kids to Joy and Jackson, Mike's twin little siblings. It's a PG book, so no sex here and almost no mention of it (only a few non-explicit jokes about it).

I'm not giving it 5 stars because Jayden was too mean for no reason (but I like and respect her because she always apologize) and because of the Spanish part. Even if I accept that the Spanish shown in the book is South American (I'm Spanish) some of the expressions were not used correctly and were really cringy (NO-ONE will call her girlfriend mi novia as an endearing nickname, it's super cringy. And I'd use amor mío instead of mi amor, but it feels super weird to read an 18-year-old call his girlfriend that (I'm not sure in South America, but here in Spain it's a super old fashioned expression)

My first book in this series and I want to go back and read the others. Robin has written a really sweet adorable romance. It shows us that looks can be deceiving and that we can’t always judge a book by it’s cover.

Jayden is the quiet sweet smart girl. She overachieves at things and I think it is because she wants to have her dad proud of her. She is not doing well in one class though. Spanish is kicking her behind and now she is getting a tutor. Only the tutor isn’t one she expected.

Mike is Jayden’s tutor. He is the one everyone thinks of as the dumb jock. The one that tries to be something he isn’t. Only Mike is really a very smart, respectful, kind, sweet, caring and loyal guy. He takes care of his brother and sister and is in all honors. Why does he hide behind the dumb persona? He was bullied when younger and found that hiding his intelligence kept him safe. I was glad at the end that his friends liked him when he was smart and coming back with sarcastic yet witty comebacks more than when he played the idiot. Those are some special friends there.

Mike is Jayden’s tutor and like Jayden isn’t thrilled. He sees how she thinks about him and doesn’t hide that he finds her to be judgemental. As they get to know one another though Jayden finds that Mike isn’t at all as he appears in school. She sees the loyal family guy. The sweet caring guy and the smart guy. They get to know one another and become friends. Both feel more than friendship but are scared to let the other know.

I love the ending where they finally admit their feelings and how it comes about. their supporting cast of friends are great as well. I was hoping that maybe we would get a story of Becca and Logan because those two would give us a really entertaining story.

A wonderful sweet story that just has you smile with characters you love watch grow and go from friendship to something more.

⭐️Spoilers… here and there.⭐️

Before I even start on my review. Let me just crack up at this here:

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

“Bianca picked her gum off the table and threw it at me. I ducked in time for it to sail past, hitting a kid one table over. He snapped his head up, looking for the offender, and Bianca hid behind Becca. They giggled, and everyone started making fun of Bianca for her bad shot.”

After I read that I just ROTFL 😂 LIKE really? Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ that was a good one.

So with that being said. I understood why Mike did what he did to fit in instead of getting bullied. I understood him when he put Jayden in her place for saying that Bianca was a bully for saying things about Mike being stupid. When she does the exact same thing.

But she learned to love him and his odds ways of talking 😂 especially when she found out that he didn’t actually talk that way. But Bianca has me done for more when it came to Mike actually talking like he had some sense in his head. He definitely put both in there place.

To me, it was ONLY Becca, Brady, and Beth (all B’s) who knew that Mike was actually smart. Also not only that I like how Mike told her dad off to where her father needed to hear it because of how he treated Jayden even her mom had words with him. After that, her father toned it down and actually had a talk with her.

Not only that I was glad when Jayden and Mike finally got together because lord knows it took them long enough to stop pretending that they didn’t like each other especially Jayden. Because everybody knew that they liked or assumed they were dating each other.

'Perfectly Misunderstood' by Robin Daniels tells the story of Jayden and Mike, two high school students who seem to be polar opposites. While Jayden works hard, she finds herself struggling in Spanish and needing the help of a tutor. When she gets paired with Mike, she can't help but feel that her teacher must be playing a cruel joke on her. Mike is the epitome of what seems to be a dumb jock. He doesn't speak in proper English and acts “too cool for school”. She can't imagine what her teacher is thinking.

As time goes on, though, Jayden is surprised by how smart Mike really is and how he is giving off a presence that isn't really him. At the same time, Mike sees Jayden as annoying and more trouble than she's worth, but somehow they start to grow on each other.

The way they are bothered by each other ends up, somewhat predictably, leading to romantic tension, but the lead-up to this is well-written and creates interesting dynamics between them. It is nice to see Mike's worry about how he'll be perceived if he's found out to not be as dumb as he comes across. There is a vulnerability there that comes to a head when his secret is unraveled. Similarly, Jayden's best friend is always trying to make her realize how her words can sting, especially when it comes to Mike, and her realization that everything isn't always about her grows as the story goes on.

Robin Daniels has a variety of other books that are surely worth checking out after reading 'Perfectly Misunderstood'.

In Perfectly Misunderstood, Jayden Valdez is a teenager who takes pride in making good grades. She doesn’t want to disappoint her parents. When she finds out her grade in Spanish is down her teacher gives her a solution. Jayden will need to get tutoring, which she is fine with until her tutor’s identity is revealed.

Mike Thompson is intelligent but likes being the class clown. He has everyone at his school believing he is dumb. He is responsible and takes care of his siblings after school to help his mother out. He lives a separate life that many of his friends no nothing about. When his coach ask him to tutor a student he agrees until the student’s identity is revealed.

Perfectly Misunderstood is a typical young adult story where the boy meets the girl, introduces her to his home life, girls starts sharing more of her and both ignore the growing attractions that is very noticeable. It was a cute story with humorous banter between Mike and Jayden’s characters. I didn’t care for the way Mike’s siblings talked to and teased him about having a different father and him not being Hispanic. This turned me off a little even though I learned more about his character, having read previous books in this series.

Overall, I enjoyed it and recommend it to other young adult readers.

This was a bit of a detour from what I normally read but I actually enjoyed it. This is definitely a "high school" story...focusing on teenagers and their day to day issues. It really took me back to the days of being extremely self-conscious of what my peers thought of me and even reminded me of my days of being tutored in Spanish.
The story had some moments that I, (as a 37 year old mom) found a bit annoying...Mike's posing and trying to act like someone he wasn't was a bit much at times but the moments of seeing who he really was were sweet and endearing.

The romance that develops feels very natural and not forced. It was super sweet and again took me back to those days of liking a boy.

My only major issue was the content could be inappropriate at times...some phrases and words were used that I don't approve of in my home.

Overall, I think this would be a good story for older teens (16 and up) who enjoy romance/contemporary stories.

I received this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Perfectly Misunderstood is the fourth and final book in Robin Daniels' Perfect series. They are connected but can be read as standalones.

This story focuses on Mike and Jayden who have both made brief appearances in previous books. Mike is known as a fairly popular jock who is kind of an idiot. Jayden needs help bringing up her Spanish grade and is shocked when her teacher recommends that Mike tutor her.

Getting to know Mike a little better as the story progressed was great. Especially after the impression you get of him from Perfectly Oblivious. It goes to show you that everyone is more than meets the eye. I did find myself connecting with Mike a little more than Jayden throughout the book, but she was an interesting character too.

This was a nice finish to the series and has the same sweet YA romantic charm of the first there books.

Thank you to to the author for providing a copy for an honest review.

Squeeee!!! Oh this book was so much fun! I just loved it, loved it, loved it! Now this, people, is what a YA should look like. I had kind of given up on YA's because I just wasn't finding any I liked. If they could only all be like this one.

Character development... oh my word - I loved Jayden (she was so snarky, ha! a woman after my own heart!) and Mike (really loved Mike!!). Holy cow - when I say the author got the teens right in this book, that may be an understatement. I honestly felt like I just jumped right into the high school hallways.

This story was so stinkin cute, sweet, and romantic! A lot of awww moments and a lot of giggles!
If you like YA and are looking for a fun read - definitely give this one a go.
I would say that this one was absolutely - "Perfect"!

First one for me by Robin Daniels but would love to read more by this author!

I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from YaReads BlogTours- Thank You!!

I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I think Jayden is a character they people would probably not like because she is pretty rude and just says what come out her mouth but I find it endearing, I know I know and I crazy in the head? Maybe but I really like Jayden personally and yes she had said some as the kids say “outta pocket” stuff but that what makes her real and I liked they about her.
Now we have mike *swoon* at first I was thrown back by the way he is character was pro-trade like so was was Jayden it was so entertaining watching them back in fourth like a ball in tennis ball. I love a good banter who doesn’t? Mike is an amazing, awesome, talented guy who who deserve the world, the way he takes care of his twin siblings was amazing.
Anyway I don’t want to give anything a way but if you are thrown back by Jayden personally I understand but try to stick around because it turns out to be a great read.

Ps it’s a Kindle unlimited book to so that’s a plus!!!

The Perfect Series is coming to a close with Robin Daniels's Perfectly Misunderstood. While I’m sad to see the series end, this book was a perfect conclusion. Featuring two characters who cannot stand each other, Perfectly Misunderstood reminds me a little of a contemporary Pride and Prejudice. Sassy, fun, and oh so sweet, I guarantee you will fall in love with Jayden and Mike’s story.

At the beginning of this book, Jayden is struggling. She’s your typical straight-A student who is failing (well if you call C a failing) Spanish. She’s driven and determined, and knows her father will kill her if she doesn’t get that grade up. Because of her driven nature, Jayden tends to come off to those that don’t know her as a snob which is why when she is paired with Mike as her tutor things don’t go as planned.

Mike is an enigma, living two personas. At school, he is the dumb jock/thug wannabe. He wears chains, talks with imperfect grammar, and if I had to be around him as Jayden does, I probably slug him. He’s annoying. At home though and to his best friend, he’s just Mike. He’s smart, scoring insanely high on his SAT, has a high GPA, and a generally good guy. SO when Jayden discovers this, you can imagine her confusion and frustration with his two personalities.

I loved the dual POV in this book. I honestly don’t know how it would’ve worked otherwise. In getting POV from both characters, as the reader you understand why Mike doesn’t like Jayden and vice versa. You understand how they essentially misunderstand each other. You also get a front row seat for how they slowly fall for one another and the seemingly insurmountable obstacles they face.

Overall I loved Perfectly Misunderstood. I laughed, I teared up, I swooned. And for fans of the series, you will be happy to know that previous couples show up in this one. I personally loved seeing Cam and Bebe and Summer and Levi 😀 I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of sweet, contemporary YA romance. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order as there are spoilers in this book to the previous books in the series.

My favorite book from this series! I was curious about Mike since the first book, but he was so much more than I was imagining! Freaking intelligent, cute, nice... If I need to complain about something is not seeing he showing off for the whole school nor seeing becca's kiss (it would be amazing!)

I didn't think Jayden was really likeble (maybe because her headstrong ways seems like mine?), but I liked the way she defended him and started to be in love (emoticons scene? So cute!)

In summary, it is a good and nice book. Even if the plot is not new, I thought it was well executed and made me laugh a lot

* I got this book for review and did give 3.5 stars*
I thought this was super fun read. I really enjoyed both POV characters and it was fun story. I think I was more invested in the male side of the story. I also thought this story touched on my many common issues in teens life like school, family and romance. I thought the rest of the characters could have been developed a tad more but it was fun read and def a great read for the end of the school year. I would def be interested in reading more by this author in this seems and to go back and read the other three books in this series.

So this was a good one, but Jayden was a horrible MC at first. I understand character growth but hers was insane. She was so rude and mean at first! I did however like her in the last third of the book.

Mike was pretty much adorable. I absolutely LOVED the recital - definitely my favorite scene!! He was a really interesting character! In theory, I get why he liked Jayden but MAN, that girl was bad.

I’m so sad that this series is done. I thoroughly enjoy books where the characters cross-over. It’s so much fun to read and characters you already know!!

Perfectly Sweet.

I have enjoyed all of Robin Daniels' books so far and this one was no exception.

I will admit that it took me a little bit to fall for Mike, the male MC, because his linguistic stylings made me want to throw tomatoes at him through my kindle screen. But as my bf says I was supposed to find him annoying. And he got better. So very much better. Definitely swoonworthy in the end.

Highly recommended if you are a fan of sweet YA romances.
