She’s dangerous. Everything I’ve built could come crashing down around me because of her.

I love this Rebel world! Alexa Riley meets dystopian has made all of my quick smutty read dreams come true. So pumped for Secret Rebel, and hope it’s about someone we saw in Her Rebel! Never stop writing in this world. Ok thanks!

Owen has known Minnie was meant to be his since they were kids, however, when the Regime took her mom, she disappeared as well. It took him too many years to find her again, but once he did, he knew he could never lose her again. He's biding his time, trying to decide how to get her to come to him.

Minnie is a nurse, something she was allowed to do because she became one of the "schloarship" children after the government took her mom. As such, Minnie is considered of the elite, though not fully one of them, which is fine by her. She loves helping others, but prefers living outside the wall. She has dreams of a boy offering her freedom, and wishes they were real.

When Minnie seeks answers on how to help her people, she looks to the brewery, the place that seems to call to her. When she sees Owen, the connection is immediate and as they begin working together, resisting it becomes harder.

As secrets are revealed, not only that Owen is the leader of the Insurgents, but also that he is the boy from her memories, not dreams, they come together as fate always intended. However, the Regime has been preparing for Minnie's wedding, a pairing meant to further their cause, regardless of Minnie's wishes. The rules state once an elite reaches a certain age, the powers that be will decide who they are to marry.

Owen and Minnie know they must make their move now to free Minnie from that life so they can live the one they want, together, but they must overcome the obstacles thrown their way first. I hope Ryan's story is next. I'm curious to see what fate has in store for him.

One-click now and follow along as two people, bound together from a young age, are finally reunited and experience everything together for the first time

Good but it could have been better. I know they intentionally didn't get too much into the "world" but that kinda made it blah.

Back to the "rebel" world - Minnie is a scholarship student, chosen from the poor to receive schooling and work amongst the elite so she can eventually marry into their ranks. This is of course to keep her quiet about what they did to her mother. Owen, whom she met when she was just a child, has been watching her, biding his time and waiting for her to come to him. He's known since they were kids that she belonged to him and he's saved himself for her. He is the leader of the Insurgence, but Minnie doesn't know this when she comes to him seeking knowledge about their history. He is patient as he waits for their chemistry to become more and when it does and he finally tells her who he is, he will never let her go and will do anything he can to keep her.

So the positives here include the setting and the plot. I like that AR went with a dystopian setting because it's definitely out of their normal realm. This also had a few more twists and turns than I usually expect to see - sure boy meets girl (or meets her again), but there are external factors which would keep them apart and surprisingly there was a bit of a theme relating to resistance in there as well. So while this had all the smut you come to expect, this took it a bit further and had quite a bit more plot in it. This of course added a bit more drama and angst than I'm used to seeing and I liked that.

Regarding the theme I mentioned before...I can't say I was thrilled that a pacifist, a healer, a follower of nonviolent resistance ended the story believing violence was justified and necessary. That someone with those beliefs could set off a bomb not knowing whether it would kill people and be okay with it was really disappointing to me. Yeah, I get it, this is smut and shouldn't be taken all that seriously, but I am a hardcore believer in nonviolence, so it was really hard for me to respect Minnie as a character when she couldn't stick to her beliefs and never even really struggled with abandoning them. She talked about how she'd wanted to help people and be a "healer" and when push came to shove the moment her life (and that of her child's) was threatened, she chose violence as an option right quick. I could have respected this decision more if it had been harder for her to accept.

This still has the standard AR character formula. Owen insta-loved his girl back when she was a kid, saved himself for her and has waited for her ever since. He's toeing the line to creepy as he locks her in so she can't escape, would never, under any circumstance consider giving her up, no way, now how and instantly wants to put a baby in her without discussing any of it with her. Fortunately, she's on board with this and doesn't care if the door is locked because she isn't going anywhere. She's just as insta-loved with him...so much so that she agrees to sleep in his bed the first night she meets him. Beyond that, both of these characters are supposedly virgins. I say supposedly because there is none of the awkwardness that one would expect when two people who have never bumped uglies before get together to do just that. Owen has no doubts about how to please his woman, despite having never even kissed one before and Minnie follows his lead perfectly. I tire of these expert virgins. Also, just a side rant, but this is 2018. When will authors start realizing that the hymen does not lie several inches within the vagina? Many already have, I'm surprised with as much sex and virgins as they write, that AR haven't.

It's not bad dystopian romance. Though, I have to say I enjoyed first book more. That books h, Sylvia, was badass. Lol. Btw, we meet Brad Chalmers, H from previous book here. I liked that.
And talking about this books H. I loved Owens. He was badass himself. Leader of rebels. He loves what he represents, what he does. But he's ready to give up it all for his little sparrow if its needed.

4 1/2 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the second book in the Rebel series by Alexa Riley. If you’ve read His Rebel then you’re familiar with the nurse who told Brad Chalmers that she wanted someone killed, well this book is about her. Minnie was only ten years old when the government came and took her Mother away. To keep her quiet Minnie received a scholarship and was able to go to school with the elite even though she was poor. She’s now almost 25 years old and she works in the emergency room of the hospital. She’s being groomed and she’ll be expected to marry an elite soon, whether she wants to or not. Owen is the leader of the resistance and they’re opposed to the elite and their laws. Owen and Minnie knew each other when they were children and he protected her. When she was taken by the government and dumped with the elites Owen never forgot about her. He searched and searched until he finally found her and now he lives in an abandoned brewery across the street from the hospital. He watches her and still protects her and he’s just waiting for her to come to him. Minnie is drawn to the building across the street from the hospital where she works. When she sees a lantern in one of the windows it reminds her of when she was a little girl. Her Mother used to leave a lantern in their window to show the people that she was available to listen or teach the history of the way the world used to be. After work one night Minnie knocks on the door to the abandoned brewery and asks if there is someone there who can teach her. It’s not long before Minnie remembers Owen and the two of them fall in love.

5***** sweet stars from me!!!

Such a lovely story, I didn't realized when it finished and when I reached the end I wanted moreeee!! Her rebel is the second book of the series with another unique content which by the way has caught my heart!

In this storyline we have two adorable characters with a sparkly chemistry Minnie and Owen. Minnie is the sweet caring heroine and Owen is the possessive alpha hero we've used to read in all AR books. The story contains some really hot, steamy scenes with both of them being virgins!! and enjoyable dialogs.

It is a fast-paced story with a sugary HEA... I certainly recommend it and I'm looking forward to read the next one!

Owen has loved Minnie since he was a small boy. He will stop at nothing to find her again and make her his. All Minnie wants to do is help people and being a nurse makes that possible but when she has to chose sides and knowing what will happen to the people she loves if she doesn’t go with their plans for her. It’s a risk that she will have to take to be with the little boy that she remembers so long ago that kept her safe and the man that he has grown into.

I’m glad we got another book in this dystopian setting. I really loved Owen and Minnie, they were really cute and perfect for each other!

We didn’t get much world building but that’s okay, it was still a good quick read. It won’t go down as my favorite Alexa Riley book, but if you enjoyed the first one then you should give this a read.

I am so excited that this is a dystopian story and it is wonderful. The characters are expressed with so many emotions.
Minnie and Owen were destined to be together from childhood. But were separated by their individual destinies. Minnie as an adult to be a nurse and Own to create the resistance and leader.
Now the time has come and Owen is determined to capture her heart.

Quick read and romance is forefront in this story.

I never really find myself going towards the dystopian setting but it's Alexa Riley we are talking about here.
And like everything else, it was done right. No surprise there.

I loved Owen and Minnie.
They were destined to be together and Owen made sure of it.

And I kinda like this world. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.
Plus, it was steamy as all hell so...

Can't wait to read all the other books.

Dystopian steam

Hot and steamy, just like you expect from Alexa Riley, with a dystopian setting. Intriguing plot, with a few gaps, but it is a short story, so you don't expect every detail to be covered.

I’m really enjoying this series! It has a little bit of everything. That I love in an Alexa Riley book!!

Owen has been in love with Minnie since they were kids. They would play together and of course Owen would protect her. He knew since he was little that she was the one.

This first time I saw her I was just a boy. I didn’t know what a man’s obsession could feel like. How consuming it would be. I knew I loved her, even before I could figure out what that was.

Minnie had been ripped away from him and he had been searching for her, for a while. Once he found her. He knew she would never slip away from him again. He saw a future with her. And he loved her caring nature.

I’ve seen what she’s capable of, and not only is she meant for me, but she’s meant to help lead the resistance with me.

I liked how Owen took his time with Minnie. He didn’t just rush her. He let her come around to him at her own pace. Once she really remembers who Owen really is to her. She falls quickly.

I’ve been yours since the moment you took my hand all those years ago. When you told me you’d take me wherever I wanted to go, I became yours.

Owen can’t believe she really wants him. His soul finally feels complete. Minnie has finally found the one person that makes her feel at peace.

I inhale her scent and close my eyes knowing that this moment has changed me, changed the both of us forever.

This was a good read! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!!

The latest from Alexa Riley is romance read that is full of desire, hunger and passion. This is on the sweeter side from AR and the story is dystopian romance. It is great to see a continuation in this world and revisiting previous characters from this world in this read. Owen is the head of the Insurgence and Minnie is a nurse for the Regine. – And Owen comes off as one hot, sexy alpha male who was determined to make sure the outcome he wanted came true which is getting his true love Sylvia. Sylvia is a sassy, independent woman who was a bit naïve when it came to the villains in this read. Sylvia and Owen make for a great couple. The heat factor is definitely up there but of course, when reading Alexa Riley , be prepared for all the steam and passion that they are well known for. For me, this was a bit of a tamer read than normal but that doesn’t make this a bad read, just tamer on the smutty romance side. I would follow Owens anywhere, and for a quick naughty read this hits the mark.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

I don't know how a book that has a definite dystopian feel, with that darkness glooming over it, and yet, there is a lightness to it. But this authour did it in this book, with Minnie and Owen, and it isn't just a metaphor. The story clearly sets out that the leaders, those for the people, put out lights for people to gravitate towards. To find hope, to gather, and to be positive in all the negativity that is part of their lives

Minnie and Owen met as children, and while she doesn't remember him, he invades her dreams. He lost her all those years ago, but once he finds her, he keeps close eye on her. She is drawn to the light, she knows what it means. She finally remembers him, and their forbideen affair begins. Of course, the so called "good guys" find a way to keep them apart, but they won't be denied

High on the emotions, peppered with sexy moments, and a fog laying over it all, and loving every moment it brought!

"His Little Sparrow"
Owen is the leader of the rebels and he will do anything to protect his people from the Elite.
He goes above and beyond to make sure they have the provisions in place to survive.
His only mistake was loosing the girl he loved years ago when she vanished in to thin air.
Minnie obtained a scholarship to work in a profit hospital and loves helping people.
She craves a day when there will be peace.
Things change dramatically when she stumbles upon an old brewery and life as she knew it is gone.
Her Rebel is a brilliant 4 star novella that will really hook you in to this dystopian story.
I highly recommend you one click this book asap as their story is so alpha hot with a sprinkle of hope.
I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this novella.

HER REBEL is the second standalone steamy dystopian novella under the Rebel Series. It's about Owen and Minnie, two childhood friends who were separated from each other. Years later, she is adopted into the Elite class while he became the leader of the Insurgents. But he has watched her from afar and waited until, like a moth to a flame, she came knocking on his door. But she was his light and he vowed to never let her go.

I loved this book! The plot was really good. It was sweet, heartwarming and exciting at the same time. This series just keeps getting better and I can't wait to read the next ones!

I have read an advanced copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared .

I don't really read Dystopian Romance but since it's Alexia Riley, of course I'm going to read it. Minnie is a nurse and is expected to take care of the Elite society. She grew up in poverty and was hand picked to become a nurse. Owen has been watching her from the shadows. He knew her as a child and has never forgotten her. Now that he's found her again, he's not letting her go. Minnie reconizes him but can't place him. When they finally get together, it's explosive. Now they are forced to hide their love. And what happens when Minnie finds out something that will change things in their lives?
This is a quick and steamy story of love and devotion to each other.

Ugh! I keep telling myself I'm going to stop reading the drivel from Alexa Riley, but then a read a blurb, and my hopeful romantic self steps in... Unfortunately, the hopeful self is disappointed every time.

This book was another meh, limp-wrist, ugh, weak, boring, D+ in chemistry read by Ms. Riley. The chemistry is poor, the background tension for the whole forbidden love angle is weak, and the H/h are like grown up babies--far too naive and wistful for life in a dystopian society. Yeah, Owen talked a lot about doing violence, blah-blah-blah, but the man was a giant puppy. Wah-wah-wah...

Thankfully, the book was short, otherwise I would have felt even more cheated.
