It has been nearly one thousand years since the second coming of Christ on the earth. The Kingdom period has been a time of joy, productivity and fellowship among peoples of all nations. Yet along the edges of this paradise, darkness threatens to emerge one last time. Mia, Jerusalem's representative to the North American Federation, and her grandfather Jacob Makawiwo find themselves in the midst of a cataclysmic rebellion that threatens to bring another, and potentially final, end to this world.
This little known book is truly a fiction gem and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Christian or modern fiction. Although a very basic understanding of Christian end times theology will enhance readers understanding of the plot and characters, I think this book would also appeal to non-believers who enjoy fictional tales in modern or post-modern settings. The book's author is Christian, but also realizes and agrees with C.S. Lewis' famous point that "The last thing the world needs is another Christian book. What it needs is Christian authors" with the implication faith can be part of a variety of literature types to include modern and post-modern fiction. This work is one author's clever and quite imaginative view of how the peace predicted by Revelation Chapter 20 would look on Earth. Specifically, in this chapter Satan was bound for "...a thousand years..." during which time resurrected and surviving Christians "...lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." (KJV) Interestingly enough, the author uses the divide between resurrected and surviving Christians as the cause of friction Satan is able to exploit when freed at the thousand years' conclusion. This tale takes readers from the thousand years' end up through Christ's second, permanent victory over Satan through a creative view of the world, its cities, and peoples coupled with compelling characters. I think believers of many stripes will enjoy this fast paced, adventurous tale as well as non-believers who enjoy alternative futures for our current world.
