I received a copy of this title from AXP and finished it in one night! I'm not sure that's the best way to do it, because, in the first half of the book, each story gives you just enough of a taste to let you imagination go wild. When I re-read this, I'll stick with one "flash" story each day, and let my mind mull it over all night. :)
I'd prefer longer versions of these stories, and await this author's next book. I liked the writing style and the different genres she touched upon.
I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
Review in English and Spanish / Reseña en Inglés y Español ____________________________________ [ENGLISH] I received a copy of this title from AXP to make an honest review about it.
The first thing that I loved about this book was its cover, it is without a doubt one of my favorites. Then, when I read the summary, I thought I would find only stories about magic, but I can say that the author surprised me with a book full of stories that had everything: magic, love, wars, science fiction and themes that make us think about what it could become our society; I think that in its way that is a strong point.
The good thing about collections of anthologies or short stories is that you can find many interesting characters as well as unique plots that do not resemble anything, that you can enjoy without problems since none is the same as another and this book has all that. I would love for the author to have developed a few more stories to find a little more sense, but overall I enjoyed the whole book a lot.
I recommend it for anyone who likes these genres or read short stories.

“Flash Magic: A Flash Fiction Anthology” by Jamie K. Schmidt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: Speculative Flash Fiction stories. Location: From here and there to alternate universes. Time: Past, present, and future. Note: After reading other reviews that included comments about story length and brevity, I realized I better start mine with a reminder of the nature of this genre to keep myself grounded.- - Flash Fiction consists of brief, enclosed stories. The length is generally considered to be 5 to 1500 words. They often start at the “flashpoint” of the story. They have plots and characters, but the strong emphasis is on movement/progression. You might have heard them referred to as micro-stories, postcard fiction, nanotales, or napkin fiction.- - This anthology is 21 stories, each complete unto itself. Want to read about adults who find their own version of Peter Pan’s world? Read “Neverland Lost”. Do you prefer fighting monks or knights? Try “The Day After”. Souvenir-collecting aliens? “Dept. 51” is for you. Cyborg thieves? It’s “Emerald City” for you. How about good and evil fighting condiments? Yes, Morton, Heinz, Pepper, and Dill are all there in “Nick’s Pick.”- - When I was young, I had a storybook of 365 one-page stories- one for every day of the year. I think it would be great to read this anthology like that - one story at a time to appreciate the true inventiveness of each. I pondered this genre and the individual stories while writing this, and ended up raising my personal rating to 4 stars. It’s such a creative group of stories, all following the constraints of flash fiction. 🌵📚👩🏼🦳”
I really enjoyed this collection of (super) short stories. They were very imaginative and filled with an amazing assortment of tales that I found were perfect for when I only had a very short time to read though I read quite a few in a sitting. I do agree with another reviewer who said that he/she would have preferred longer stories, so that was the only "complaint" which should definitely be seen as more of a compliment! They certainly set the tone for the types of books I would want to read more of. Well written and very enjoyable!! *I received an ARC of this book.
