Series: The Duke of Strathmore #6
Publication Date: 6/1/18

This is the second book I have read by Sasha Cottman and it is an excellently written and excellently plotted book. It is basically Bonnie meets Clyde (without the bank robbing) – and we all know what an ill-fated relationship that one was!

Freddie Rosemount is the second son of a Viscount who wants to make his mark on the world. Evidently, he doesn’t care if that is a good mark or a bad mark because he certainly gets into some very, very questionable activities. He also doesn’t seem to have a thought or care for anyone or anything other than himself. Who he inadvertently hurts doesn’t matter. He has the opportunity to join The Bachelor Club and will do whatever it takes to get enough points in the contest to win that membership. He races bareback headlong through London in the dark of night, deliberately insults members of the ton, takes on an unruly dog and gives it a ridiculous name – each test he is given is more vile than the last and he intends to pass them all with flying colors.

Eve Saunders is the female version of Freddie Rosemount – but without the freedom to act upon that wildness. She does manage to join up with Freddie and help him in his quests. They say they are trying to maintain her reputation, but they flaunt convention at every opportunity. Eve is jealous of her older sister and is determined to beat her to the altar. She is determined to marry Freddy long before she knows him well enough to know if she does/could love him. She is attracted to his wildness because it calls to the wildness within her.

Freddie’s father finally steps in to curb his son, but that doesn’t stop him. What finally stops him is something that is done by the man who runs the Bachelor Club. I don’t believe Freddy would have changed his ways if that hadn’t happened. He certainly wasn’t upset by anything else they had done – no matter how heinous. It was only after something could have affected him personally that he thought he needed to take a look at himself. Had that not happened, I believe he would have continued on with his wild lifestyle. So – I never grew to like Freddie – nor did I grow to like Eve.

The fact that I didn’t care for either the hero or the heroine doesn’t mean that the story wasn’t well written. It was. The plot was excellent and the writer stayed with that plot. So, I’m giving it 4-stars.

Being a second son of a Viscount often comes with a price. Nothing to lose because he will never inherit the title and a sense of being reckless. Freddie Rosemont was that son and getting caught up with gaiety of the Ton, he falls in with the wrong crowd. The Bachelor Club is a group of young men who mean to leave their mark on society, but to be a member, Freddie must achieve a series of crazy tasks, that as they progress become more scandalous than the last. Eve Saunders is a well bred lady of society but also has a desire for danger herself. As Eve helps Freddie through some of his challenges, a strong attraction bursts between the two. But when his final task threatens to destroy the relationship he has built with Eve, he has to make a decision. Is Eve more important than his membership in this scandalous club?
This is a story of choices that can change the course of lives and the emotions that ignite when a decision must be made. Part of a series, this is the first book I have read by this author, but I am eager to go back and read her other books!

This one was a ride and half through secret challenges for the second son of a Viscount Freddie Rosemount and the woman who jumped up to help him Eve Saunders, you see Eve likes to live on the wild side and she is after a husband and when they meet the sparks fly, so hang onto you hats for a wild ride of sensual delight but there is also a bit of a dark side to this story and to be honest there were times that I could have hit Freddie this is how well the book is written MS Cottman she had me really invested in this one and pulled me in from page one, I do very much recommend this one.

Freddie is doing his best to be accepted into The Bachelor Board, a crowd of men from the house of commons, being the second son Freddie is determined to make something of himself in life, never realizing what type of men he is getting himself involved with and when he meets the beautiful Eve Saunders he instantly finds a mate that will help him with his secret challenges, but at what cost?

Eve Saunders likes to push boundaries within the ton and is obsessed with beating her younger beautiful sister to the alter and with the help of her brother she is often out and about when she probably shouldn’t be, but this is how she meets Freddie and together they get themselves into a few sticky situations but it also opens their eyes to a sensual sizzling pull that heats up as they meet new challenges.

This really is a great story, fast paced with danger and yes there is hurt there, especially with the last challenge that is issued to Freddie, but it is this challenge that finally sees Freddie come to his senses and ask for help. But can he win back the beautiful Eve after all that has happened? I must be honest and say that I didn’t like Freddie at times during this story but he did redeem himself beautifully in my eyes and the twist at the end was fabulous, and as for Eve she is such a strong person and will be a challenge in herself, oh boy their lives are going to be such fun. Thank you MS Cottman for another fabulous story.

RATING – 4.5 STARS
What do you get when you mix a second son wanting to prove himself and a willful, adventure-seeking miss? You get a fantastic tale from Sasha Cottman.
The story starts a little slow (the only reason it rated a 4.5) but when it picks up steam it does so with gusto. There were many times I wanted to reach in and shake sense into both Freddie and Eve; luckily I knew Ms. Cottman would bring them to their senses. In Freddie’s case, his father stepped in to help out and in a way that had Freddie doing a lot of soul searching to come out a better man. For Eve, Freddie is the one who tried to tame her willful and adventuress nature. Although I have a feeling she will continue to lead him a merry chase, a little subdued maybe, but a chase none the less.
Another well written tale by the talented Ms. Cottman.

Lord of Mischief by Sasha Cottman is book Six in The Duke of Strathmore series. This is the story of Freddie Rosemount and Eve Saunders. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you want to do so.
Freddie knows that anything he does he will never be the first or the best in his families eyes nor some of the town. So when he gets the chance to join the exclusive 'The Bachelor Club' he goes forward without a care of what or who they really are. Freddie must do assigned task that are not pleasant and sometimes hurtful to others. Eve too feels similar to Freddie and has a somewhat wild side so she ends up going along to help him with his task..and along the way they start to have strong feelings. But the last task that Freddie is assigned is one that ends up jeopardizing their relationship and wakes him up to what a awful journey he has been on.
Great easy read...enjoyed it!

This is only my 10th book my Sasha Cottman. I just started reading her the beginning of this year. I am really enjoying this series. I noticed the first couple chapters in the first books were a bit slow but really picked up in the middle and then has such great finishes. Once I started getting all the characters straight, the stories flowed much better. I hate she isn't KU but I was able to snag this one at a discount with my Kindle Awards :( I hadn't planned on reading so many right now but I am really loving this family and all their dynamics. I'm kind of hooked now.

I enjoyed reading Freddie and Eve's story. It was very different as far as the storyline goes with the
Bachelor Board. Very fun and intriguing. Sex scenes are well written and just enough for each story.
Overall good read.

What are you willing to do to make your mark in Society?
The lure of power and wealth can be enticing when you are the second son of a viscount. Especially when you have constant reminders that regardless of what you do in life, you won’t be the first to achieve it.
Freddie Rosemount wants to make his mark in London and decides scandalous and dangerous games are worth the risk, if the reward is a coveted position in the Bachelor Board. Eve Saunders loves danger and is happy to help Freddie meet each challenge. Passion and love builds between Freddie and Eve while they work together. The last challenge before being offered a position on the Bachelor Board will force Freddie to choose between power and wealth, or love. How much is he willing to lose, knowing he can’t have it all?
Although “The Lord of Mischief” is the 6th book in The Duke of Strathmore series, it is the first book I have read by Sasha Cottman. I did not have any problems following the secondary characters in the story line. Ms. Cottman has a new reader in me and I am looking forward to reading the first 5 books in the series.
I received an early review copy of the book. I was not required to write a positive review. I wrote an honest review based on my experience reading the book.

“The Lord of Mischief” is book number six in The Duke of Strathmore Series. It is a complex story of the high cost of selfish ambition and greed. Freddie Rosemount, second son of Viscount Rosemount is on a mission to join an elite secret club in London called the Bachelor’s Board. All he must do to join is complete some outrageous tasks. But those tasks are meant to discover what sort of man Freddie has become in this very dangerous game.
Evelyn Saunders is drawn to the daring dark haired man. Freddie pushes the boundaries of polite society and Eve finds herself falling in love with the outrageous man. But when Freddie must complete a final task that threatens to destroy his relationship with Eve, will he choose the Bachelor Board or will he choose Eve?
As in any series, it is so much richer for the reader to begin with the beginning book. This is an incredible series. I highly recommend it. I was gifted a copy of this book.

This is a very good story of Eve, Will's sister, and Freddie Rosmont. Freddie is a second son and wants to make a name for himself. He tries to join a powerful secret society. He has to meet several challenges to do so. He meets Eve. They recognize kindred spirits and become friends. Eve helps him with some of his challenges. While visiting his family, Eve is jilted by Freddie at the direction of the society. Eve is broken hearted. Freddie's family cuts him off with no money and no servants. Freddie goes to work in a soup kitchen run by Hattie, Eve's sister-in-law. There he realizes who he really is. He and Eve become reacquainted. Can they renew their love?

Lord of Mischief is a somewhat naughty Regency romance about a young lady who loves to takes risks and a young man competing to be the best of rakes. Inevitably this can’t work out well for either of them, but with lots of twists and turns and some pretty erotic scenes, the story keeps the reader’s rapt attention.

Contains graphic sex scenes.

The narrator of this book does a terrific job bringing the characters and the story to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Very full writing

The way Sasha pulls from all aspects of life during the time period and weaves them into story is excellent. What sets her apart is how her wording makes the thoughts and sentiments relevant for the here and now. That business with the Bachelor Board is still something men struggle with and she captured the emotions of it some anyone could understand and sympathize with. Well done.

A second son seeks riches and finds love.

I thought this book was pretty well written and provocative. The only criticism being that Eve had more latitude to do what she wished than she probably would have had at that time period. Also that Freddie got along quicker than a spoiled young man probably would have, especially his cooking.

I really wanted to like this book and for the most part it was entertaining and kept me reading. But I didn’t feel the characters were very developed, sometimes you felt their love for each other and other times I couldn’t tell if it was still just a game for them. I did really like the transformation of the H but the h seemed to become more immature and reckless as the book went on.

Disappointed in this one

I love to read Sasha Cottman but this was disappointing. It was dirty just to be dirty and the story was wonderful but terribly developed. I hope in this case she had the flu when she wrote it as it is not her normal work.

It held my interest.

Spoiled rich girl meets a second son wanting power and wealth. A few unique plot twists have them growing up a bit. Possible rape trigger and over the top consensual sexy times. Read to the end it is worth it.

Freddie was immature and an idiot. Eve started as a virgin but acted more like a dog in heat! I will not ever read this author again.
