The Family Affair is the ninth installment in Hope Callaghan’s awesome Made in Savannah Cozy Mystery Series. The storyline is well plotted, the characters are well developed, and the plot is complex. Twists and turns, and suspects abound in this steadily paced book and I was at a loss as to the identity of the murderer until the final reveal. The writing style flows smoothly and this is an easy read, which doesn’t contain any gratuitous sex, graphic violence, or adult language. Once again, Ms. Callaghan has written a well thought out and interesting mystery, with a great story line, affable characters, and humor. I highly recommend all Ms. Callaghan’s books to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Carlita Garlucci’s excited because her oldest son, Vinnie, Jr., is due to arrive any minute, but she’s also worried because he says he has a big surprise and she hates surprises. To her disappointment, he’d been hinting around about moving up in the “family” business, but she never suspected him to show up with a young woman on his arm and her as Brittney Castellinis, the daughter of Vito and Francesca Castellinis, she began to feel ill. Not only was Vito a mob boss, he was the godfather! The pawnshop is doing well and renovations have begun in the vacant building where Carlita plans to open her gourmet Italian restaurant, Ravello. Carlita’s son, Tony, has been dating one of Carlita’s tenants, Shelby Towns, and Shelby’s young daughter, Violet, has won the hearts of the entire family. When Shelby’s ex-husband, Robert Towns, is murdered in a park not far from the riverfront district, she becomes a person of interest. Shelby had been hiding from her ex-husband, but he somehow tracked her down and told her he was working on a big deal with important people and would give her a signed consent to terminate his parental rights in exchange for cash. Shelby agreed to the meeting, but when she arrived, she discovered he’d been murdered. Determined to find the truth, Carlita enlists the help of Annie Dowton, the owner of Riverfront Real Estate, and reluctantly accepts help from her ex-tenant, Elvira Cobb.

Once again, I love this series! I love following the Garlucci family on another adventure! There is never a dull moment. This book was one of my favorites. It features, Shelby, Carlita’s tenant and her middle son’s girlfriend. I wondered when Hope would come back to Shelby’s ex husband. I was very curious about him so I’m glad she explored the topic in this book. This was a very exciting book and I couldn’t stop reading it! I had some time off today and enjoyed reading this book so much, I read it in a day.

"Family Affair" / Book 9 in the "Made in Savannah" Cozy Mysteries
Really enjoyed reading this book, the mystery and suspense kept building making me wonder who the killer was but I also enjoyed the light humor thrown in to with the new family member. I am so looking forward to the next book where a new tenant moves in and to see how Carlita's restaurant turns out. Going to try and make the Tuscan Chicken Macaroni & Cheese, recipe at the end of the book!

Eldest son Vinny arrives for another visit with a big surprise -- his new wife, who just happens to be the daughter of the mafia mob boss! Middle son Tony's girlfriend becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her ex-husband. Will Ma figure out how to help find the murderer before an innocent woman, if she truly is, ends up in jail?

Very Entertaining
I enjoyed the latest installment in this series. It is easy to read and follow and the storyline is not predictable. The characters are quirky and very real. I found the premise that they could make a connection between random things more believable than when the story involves a blatant mistake by police.

The Mob, Murder and Macaroni!
Once again Hope throws us a twist. Just when Carlitta thought she was getting her family away from the family and into a new business, fate steps in. Throw in a new daughter in law, and a great recipe, and the series continues leaving you asking what's up next .

Carlitta Garlucci gets involved with the murder of her renter Shebey's ex husband because Shelbey is being accused of the murder. Also her son Vinnie came for a visit announcing his marriage to the daughter of the Mafia Boss in New York and he seems to be involved with the murder. Carlitta, her daughter and friends get involved with solving the murder!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest book in this series. I read all the other 8 books in January. I was very pleased that a new addition was added to the series. I feel I know all the characters in the book. I also feel more acquainted with Savannah because of the detail in the book. I would recommend this book and the whole series for those who like mysteries.

Hope has done it again! She is the queen of cozy mysteries in my book and has outdone herself with the Made in Savannah series. If you like clean reading, larger than life characters, a mystery that keeps you guessing, and spunky female amateur sleuths than this is the series for you! I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Great Read
Again, I am still thoroughly enjoying this series. Shelby, not thinking it through, goes to meet her ex husband . When she arrives at the arranged place she finds him lying on the ground, shot dead. The police think she killed him. The Garlucci family take it upon themselves to prove, not only that she didn't do it, but also who did.

The Garlucci Family are at it again!!! AND don’t forget the Castellini Family!!! So, who killed Robert Towns and why??? AND thirteen dollars for thirteen chicken wings isn’t as bad as the six chicken wings fir sixteen dollars that they wanted at a restaurant near here!!! Nuff personal stuff!!! I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.

Gotta love the Garlucci Family
Always excitement and mystery around every corner of Savannah for Carlita Garlucci and her daughter, Mercedes. Those are gutsy gals for sure. Scary, but intriguing mafia activities around town are constantly keeping Carlita on her toes to try and protect her grown children from their lures. A great read!!!

As usual, the Garlucci mother daughter team solve another crime. This time, their mob ties come back to haunt them .. a little too close for comfort this time. Such a fun series you’ll thoroughly enjoy!

Vinnie has pulled a fast one on his mom and siblings, Shelby is being questioned for a murder, and good ole Elvira has her nose in the middle of it all. Another wonderful good time for the Garlucci's and entourage.

I love the Garlucci family. This Christian cozy series is not preachy. It's Christian in their life choices and adds to the tale. Carlita is drawn into another mystery, thanks to son Vinnie, and manages with the help of family and friends to solve it, despite Elvira's help.

It was a fun romp through a very unpopular theme...gambling, Mafioso murders, adult children living it rough...makes it hard for grandmothers to sleep at night. But the excellent story telling makes it safely available.!
