Since being turned into a werewolf, Adam has been a loner. Practically a hermit. Okay, actually a hermit. When the local wolves and werewolves start experiencing weird behavior, he can’t resist the pull to step up and see if he can help. And runs smack into trouble in the form of the werewolves’ National President.
Myra’s term as President is nearly over, but she’s determined to track down the wolf who was attacked, and turned against his will. When she meets Adam, she only wants to help him live a full and happy life. Then she sees him naked. And gets to know him. And decides she wants a lot more for him than to just escape his lonely cabin in the woods.
KB Alan lives the single life in Southern California. She acknowledges that she should probably turn off the computer and leave the house once in a while in order to find her own happily ever after, but for now she’s content to delude herself with the theory that Mr. Right is bound to come knocking on her door through no real effort on her own. Please refrain from pointing out the many flaws in this system. Other comments, however, are happily received through her email or website.
Older h meets H who was changed by force. He's had to live off grid, doesn't trust himself or anyone. He has real issues with being dominated by others, including the h. The he learns he's stronger than most, she is his equal. She's going through political transitions and madly attracted to him. Steamy and bitter sweet moments in their relationship.
Myra becomes much more fleshed out as a person than she was in the last story.
I like Adam. Former teacher, mountain man, computer geek. Not sure that everything about his cabin plays out correctly (he turned on the generator for stuff one evening, but hadn't needed it for his computer earlier?).
This book will make much more sense if you read the first Wolf Appeal book, which describes the evil rogue pack that turned MC Adam into a werewolf. Since he was turned against his will, Adam has been a loner. But since learning (in Alpha Turned) that Adam is out there, likely traumatized and clueless about real werewolf life after violently being turned into a werewolf, Myra, president of the werewolf council, has been looking for him. She wants to make sure he's coping with the trauma, and help integrate him into werewolf society.
This book isn't quite as good as its predecessor, but it's still an entertaining read. It's a nice look at a woman in midlife starting over, in addition to being a paranormal romance. Myra's resigned herself to being alone since the death of her police officer husband (since werewolves mate for life and rarely get a second mate), but leads a full life in other respects. I really like her character, even if she's not as exciting as some. Adam, too, is a great character, and again the supporting cast shines (even if there are almost too many of them).
This is an adult read due to explicit adult scenes. There is adult language but it is not overwhelming. I think you could read this without reading the first book, though you miss the background of the characters from that book. There were editing issues, though not enough to take away from the story. The world building was okay. It was not enough to pull me into their world, but I was interested in the characters enough. The flow was a bit choppy at times. Lots of adult moments but tamer than the first book. The plot is interesting enough but I was not sold on the ending. Not a bad read. 2.5-3 stars
What an amazing way of continuing this series. Myra and Adam are so strong together and that makes their story a powerful one. You can feel their intensity, their magic coming through the pages of the book. It's been an absolute pleasure to see these characters evolve separately and together. A certain must read.
Following on from boom one, this definitely provides more depth to what it means in Alan's mind to be a wolf and part of a pack. Uniting mates and finding your true self are equally important. But knowing you have someone their to support all your decisions and the feel you get for them is something else entirely
Not sure if it was me or the story its self but thought only an okay rating was due. I was somewhat was distracted while listening so it gets a 'maybe it was me' extra star. I did finish the book but about 3/4 to the end there was major skimming.
I loved this one a lot. This series just gets better with each book. I loved Adam and Myra. I loved that she was there for him and understood his fears. Moving to start a new pack just opens up for new characters and new adventures. I love it!
Really got into this whole book just like 👍 the first book. Loved the whole concept of being an alpha not funding that you are by how you were turned. Great read.
Challenge Accepted is the second book in the Wolf Appeal series, but it can be read as a standalone, as I did. Adam was changed into a werewolf against his will, and has tried to remain off grid ever since. He comes into contact with others when some of the natural wolves in his woods get sick, and then some of the werewolves do too. The head honcho herself, Myra, turns up and is able to speak with him, letting him know just what she had done with the pack that turned him. The attraction between these two is sort of instantaneous, sort of not. The sparks are there, but the fire isn't lit (properly) until the end of the book. You'll see why 😉
This was a well-written story that fully explained Adam's situation without being bogged down in detail. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. This story was intriguing and engrossing and was great as a standalone. Recommended by me.
