Finished my first book of 2024 and I am glad I chose this as the first! There are many things to enjoy about this book. First of all, I find it thoughtfully written. It not only addresses the importance for sabbath but it shows the relevance of rest whether you follow Jewish customs or not. I like how each chapter is laid out. I felt like when I opened the book, I had a sack with just a few tools in it but chapter by chapter I would find a new tool on my path. I really enjoyed chapter 14: “God of Time” because there were some quotes in there that touched my heart and an example of spending quality time that was simple yet powerful. I used the word “thoughtful” because as I said, this book, though it is short, is a map and at its conclusion, after all the chapters, is a wonderful guide on how to host your own Shabbat. It includes the prayers, blessings, songs, meals, setup, and other valuable points. This was my favorite part. I love Bonnie’s heart for Israel and the Jewish people most of all. She intricately weaves the value of them throughout this book. I find this to be my most favorite part. One thing she did so well was placing honor in the right places. Getting to understand God, His Son, His love of rest and quality time is something intimate and beautiful. You can’t miss the depths of Him while reading this book. I am so grateful I picked it first!
